Earth: Universal Century 0079 - OOC

In all honesty, I've been itching to try an idea like this out for some time, yet with a forum under my belt (earth 1946,) I'm hoping to work on a side project here. My idea, is to start an earth, based in the Gundam Universe. Pretty much the one year war, perhaps The Delaz Fleet Incident.

At present, there is no site for this, but if anyone is willing to throw up some ideas for such an earth, here is the place to put em. All I know is, there will be several factions, the two main factions Earth Federation, and The Principality of Zeon. The rest will be corporations, or militas with their own intentions in mind, my idea kinda resembles the A.E.U.G. or the Kabara. There will be a technology limit, I'm thinking of keeping every MPed MS open.

This is undertermined if it will remain on or off sight.

Nice idea Verst, I would definately help yeah out. I personally am a fan of 8th MS, those rock...my whole army would be made of them with variable arms.

Would there be a possibility to construct slightly-modified ones, or would it trail off and some people get advantages?

Custom MS would be allowed, granted you could secure the parts. The idea of the RP is pretty much comming out on top, the more MS you got, the better you are off. If you have say four MS-09F/Trop Dom Tropens, and your enemy has a supply base with some shitty RGM-79's, you could pwn him, and steal his base.

The mindset of the RP now is this.

The Earth Federation has broken up, and the Duchy of Zeon has broken up into fleets. The Zabi family is in command of Side 3, no exceptions. But Admirals like Delaz, and commanders like Cima, have their own fleets.

Pretty much, you make a character, he could lead and MS unit, or a Space fleet, or a town milita, its all open.

This will remain on site, but an off-site, will have all of the MS customizations in use, aswell as current standings.

Question: What is an MS?

Awanser: A MS or Mobile Suit, is a 20 meter tall mechanical robot, with a pilot, and a small nuclear reactor, each MS comes with a backpack with usally two rocket trusters or Verniers, a "head" full of camera equipment, and a pair of arms and legs. Most Mass-Produced MS come with one Melee combat weapon, (Beam Saber, Heat Hawk, Heat Saber, Heat Sword...ect) and one Main Convential Weapon, (105mm MG ect...) Custom units usally only carry a pair of 20mm or 40mm Vulcan guns in the head, or special communications equipment.

Question: Anything I need to know about role playing a MS.

Awanser: You cannot pick up another factions weapons, say you are using a zaku, and you see a federation machinegun, you cannot use it, because the hand's for your MS have a chip system in the palm, to provide power and commands to the weapon, Zeonic chips wont match Federation.

Also, some mobilesuits use beam weaponary, most Mass Produced suits wont, due to the output of the MS's reactor. Some units can be customised with a larger reactor in mind, such as a Zaku F2, you'd have to have a facility to carry out such a task.

Also, if you value your mobilesuit, don't get hit from behind. Your rear position is the weakest armored spot on the MS, because it stores the fuel and the backpack engines for your MS. If you say get hit by small artillery and such, you most likly wont be able to use your backpack and jump, but say someone empty's a 90mm clip into your rear, you're about shit outta luck.

When RPing, don't picture yourself in the cool one on one duel, most persons would want to use team tactics, those who have played Playstation 2's "Zeonic Front," know what I'm talking about.

The more MS you have doesn't determine a fight, its how you use em.

Update:

Backstory: The year is Universal Century 0079, Febuary 2nd. With the war going into a stalement, both factions look for underminded tactics to deal a blow to defeat the other. However, with the sudden death of General Revil, the Earth Federation has been sent into a great shock, as Zeon forces take the offensive. However, a massive attack on Jaburo, discovered when a communication was traced to South America, lead by Zeon forces, collapsed, leaving the Zeonic Earth forces shattered, and low moralled.The Federation attempted to restore their hold, however an underground orginization struck without warning, and destroyed much of the central leadership. The Zabi family sought to gain power from one another, Gihren Zabi struck first, and killed Degwin Zabi, afterwards, the right minded Zeon fleets, split on one another, and declaired themselves warlords, as the Zabi's were tearing themselve's apart.

With the Federation in ruins, and the Zeon Forces against one another, chaos erupted.

In a world with no Zabi Family, and no Earth Federation, and most of all....no Amuro Ray "The white ghost." Its a whole new ballgame.

In this role play, anything is open, anything except the Zabi Family. Most of the well-known fleet admirals are open, Delaz for example. non-newtype Ace pilots are open aswell,Gato, Romba Ral, Norris Packard....ect. I'd prefer no Amuro ray, well atleast not in the huge role he had, this RP is pretty much designed to not have the White Base doing the Federation's battles.

It is also designed to not have supernations, so no NS population applies, or econemy, you pretty much start out from the ground up, most choices are as fallows.

Rogue Federation or Zeon Unit.
Lone Pilot with one MS.
Space Warship or Naval Warship commander, aswell as Big Tray, and the Dobdai.
Civilian.
Militia.
Mercenary.

No Newtypes!!!

There is a limit, 3 MS per person. You have to have a team leader, one person who orders the other two.

A broken up earth map, and space map will be provided shortly, bases will be marked aswell, as supply depots and MS factories.

You have to have atleast 6 people to run a fleet, no one person runs a fleet, leave things open.

This RP is designed for descriptive posting, and more in-depth tatics.

Oh and one more thing, Minovsky Particals, are pretty much what make up the nuclear reactor, also Minovsky Particals also jam radar, so most guided weapons (Tamahawks, Sams, things which use radar) are pretty much worthless.

Limited Building of MS, you can customise mobilesuits, but nothing brand new.
