Ok, here's an RP idea I've been dreaming up this past week. Nothing too complicated, just a good ol’ battle royale over an island. Here's the scenario:

One of Fatus Maximus' exploration ships stumbles upon a large, uninhabited island that's unclaimed by any of the other global powers. Another nation, however, has an equally valid claim on it, saying either they saw it first, or it’s in their national waters, or it was part of its empire in ancient times, or whatever- I'll let that nation make its own story up. The two nations (Fatus Maximus and the first interested nation to reply to this thread) start skirmishing over the island, sending in navy ships and aircraft carriers and troops transports, etc., building up their forces both on the island and in the ocean around it. Add to the mix another four nations (interested nations that are the second through fifth to reply to this thread), who have no genuine claim to the island but opportunistically hope they can take it by force. Stir. Serve warm.

No assaults on the other nations’ mainlands- just their military forces around the island. Don’t drag your allies into this, either. Just your military against everyone else’s. Airplanes, tanks, submarines, it’s all good as long as it’s on the island. How the conflict ends I’m a little shaky- my own idea is that four of the six nations will be eliminated gradually, leaving the final two to go on to a showdown round of sorts. But it doesn’t have to end that way- we’ll make it up as we go along. Anyone interested?

I'm ready to get owned. I want to lose, but I want to do it in a well-done sort of way, not a nuke or a total destruction in two days sort of thing.

I'm interested, if I've got time I'd like to get involved. Haven't had a chance to try out my MT stuff in an actual roleplay.

I just read through your stuff, now I know I'm not the starter of the RP, but I think 18 inch railguns are a bit much for MT, they'd be considered mid to late PMT, same with your dual railgun armed tank(which would tip over from recoil), your hover tank, and your rail gun artillery(it's not of much use anyway, you'd be sending shells into orbit, railguns are only good for direct attacks), your powered armor seems a bit too PMT-FT.

And replacements for the railguns could be ETC cannons (maybe 20-25inches for the battleships and dual 105mm for the tank (any bigger would tip the tank over), and maybe make your hover tank not hover, just give it excellent speed)

Yeah, I'm gonna have to veto the rail gun idea- it's too far into the future of military tech. I'm not gonna be a real stickler about PMT stuff, but no laser guns, no spaceships, and, in this case, no hover tanks either. One more thing- and this goes for everybody- NO NUKES. No one's trying to vaporize the island, just claim it. We've got enough nations to start the RP, but I want everyone to confirm they can do it before I start the thread.

I'm still in, oh, would Super-Dreadnaughts be considered to much PMT?

I'll only use 1, maybe 2, plus 4 battleships (fleet stats to be posted later), and i could sell you some, the link is in my sig, though they wouldn't be ready until the RP is over.

I've got enough battleships for me to feel confident going in, but afterwords I'd like to discuss purchasing a few of those, regardless of the outcome. Ok- the confirmed RPers are:

The Silver Sky
Barkozy
Aysheaia

As for the rest of yous, hurry up and let me know you can definitely do it, so I can start the RP.

the auxiliary-II type DDs will get blown out of the water, but hey, hopefully the combat will stick to the island

Yep, we're confirmed. Aysheaias navy is built around destroyers and missile frigates mainly, so I don't imagine we'd come out well against SDs. We'll have to be clever and work out a counter to them. Well, either that or go down like an '87 Oldsmobile in the middle of Lake Michigan...

This'll be my first NS war, by the way. I've read the various intro to II warfare threads and I despise godmodding RP (I've done freeform RP before, just not this sort), so I don't think I'll make seriously stupid mistakes. All the same, try to be patient with me in my n00bhood... ;)

Yeah, this is my first full war, I was in a purely naval engagement, most of the wars I'm in either find diplomatic solutions or one side backs down.

Allright, I'm confirming.
(Seriously, naval rail-guns aren't FT at all, just a little post-modern. I mean, they've got a working prototype already..)
Anyway, this should be interesting.

I'll just substitute conventional cannons for the rail-guns, take out the power armor and redesign my airforce. The hover tanks don't hover anymore.

Ok, how bigs it the island? I was think it could be roughly circle like, mostly flat plains with hills, probably 100 x 75mi, could someone make a map?

Oh, and for a motivation, I was think that the island could be close to my national waters(less then 75nm), and it has vast off-shore oildeposits, so my government will try to claim it as mine.

I'm thinking it's roughly the size of Hawaii (the largest of the Hawaiian islands), about 4,000 sq. miles. It's ok for it to be near your waters, but it should have some great strategic value rather than resources like oil deposits or gold or whatever. You know what they say- location, location, location. This is like a prime piece of real estate, in my mind- the perfect place to build an ocean base and control the seas.

Ok, I've ranted enough. I'll let the rest of you weigh in and then I'll create the thread. The way I see it, me and Silver Sky will start the conflict and fight between ourselves for a day or two. Then we'll post in here or TG you guys to let you know when to come in.

Wow, that's like perfect, and yeah, it could be like big enough for a large naval/air base and it would allow either a perfect striking point against me, or a perfect defensive position, my ships will probably approach from the north-east.

Hmm, just read your military, the only thing I'll have to watch out for is your battleships from Mac(the Macabees) and your navy. Though you Panzers from Mac will be tough, but nothing my ST-37K1s can't handle, I wonder what the others will bring, I'll post my fleet stats here in a sec.

Those are just the things I've bought from other countries- I'll have plenty of my own toys to play with, too. :p

If I do bring in armor, it'll be a company of M48A5s with ERA blocks. Not too much at all. I also have the auxiliary-II, which is a DD with a large cargo hold and less armament. It also has many variants, but few are combat capable.

I was thinking that your government wanted to use the island as a base, but my government is wary cause it's so close to our national waters, I send a fleet to hold position 70 miles off of the nothern tip of the island, and either your or my navy accidentally fires a shot at the other (or maybe a plane that go to close) and all hell breaks loose, though I do have a slight twist in the plot planned once others join in.

Here are my fleet stats:
1x Neptune-class Trimaran Super Dreadnaught (SDN)
1x Gavin Newsom-class Trimaran hypercarriers (CVNH)
2x Atlantic-class Trimaran large battleships (BBLN)
2x Capital-class Trimaran guided missile battleships (BBGN)
2x Victory-class Trimaran fleet carriers (CVN)
4x Agamemnon-class arsenal ships (AN)
6x Endymion-class Trimaran large cruisers (CLN)
6x Commandant-class Trimaran guided missile cruiser (CGN)
24x Evermore-class GP destroyers (DD)
24x Wingate-class Trimaran AA frigates (AAFG)
24x McDonough-class ASW frigates (ASWF)
20x Navarre-class SSN (Usually operates independantly)
Total: 116 (Plus supply ships)

If it comes to a land battle I'll deploy 2(or more) divisions(20,000men each).
Division stats:
20,000 personal, 1,500 ST-37K1 tanks, 2,500 SOV-06 IFVs, 1,000 Mobile SAMs, nurmerous support vehicles.

Wow, I just realized that I'm the biggest nation participating... That's certainly different.. My military budget is almost twice the size of The Silver Sky's. I should think about getting a larger navy.

OOC: Is this going to be an "Alternate Universe" sort of thing, where it doesn't affect our nations' actual bearing, or it is everything-goes? If it's the former, I suppose you can count me in, probably on TSS's side (sorry, Fatus). If it's the latter, I'll just watch with amusement as Fatus probably ends up depopulating the island of petite blue-bellied warblers. :p
