Ratio list

This is a comparison of each of my units, versus a BASIC generic unit of any army. The purpose of this ratio showing would to instill some respect within my ranks, as a lot of my units are elite killers, not mindless drones sent in wave after wave, only two of these are “En masse killers”, those being the Termagaunts and Hormagaunts. Those are the only units easily killed; the rest should be respected and not ploughed through like a snotty rag.

Hive Tyrant: 1:15

Tyrant Guard: 1:4

Broodlord: 1:10

Carnifex: 1:30

Genestealers: 1:1

Lictor: 1:5

Warrior: 1:2

Termagaunt: 25:1

Hormagaunt: 30:1(As they have no ranged weaponry and must run up to go damage.)

Gargoyle: 1:5

Ravener: 1:3

Somthing doesn't look right? Well provide a good, organized logical responce, and it will definatly be looked over and maybe even revised. Respond to this with mindless flaming and illogical responces, you will simply be ignored on this post.

How do you define a "BASIC generic unit"?
Azaha
26-07-2005, 01:41
Your basic foot soldier, the guy you make en mass. Comparable to clone troopers or storm troopers, or any RL nation's basic army units.
Theao
26-07-2005, 01:44
Ah, alright what about nations that don't have grunt troops?
Spooty

*Tastes list*

"hmmm, needs more Genestealer"
Azaha

I can't imagbine a nation that has all elite units and uber units, that'd be god moding and thus would be ignored by me unless they out forth good reasons and excellent RP.

Yeah, more stealers!

Guardsmen are my generic units.
Azaha

Oops, forgot genestealers

My ground forces are one thousandth of a percent of my population. Thus they get very good training and with excellent equipment.
Azaha

Then this ratio does not apply to you, and you will not be ignored by me, heh.

YOur reason of being a fraction of a % is very mature, I was talking about the godly uber elite units that made up the 2-5% populations.

If you could give me a ratio of your units versus basic grunts, then I can make a table for you, if you wish.

HA! My very basic soldier are the Ringleader Guard, they're poorly trained poorly assembled, poorly armed but they're fun to RP
Theao

Na, will deal with it if we ever go to war, but why create work for you if there's no need.
Azaha
26-07-2005, 02:04
Because I am as bored as feck :P
Theao

I was also trying to avoid creating work for my self, as I'd have to make a detailed organisation pattern of my grounders, then figure ratios.
Azaha

Fine fine...

Why not play a net game?
Azaha

Just quit an MMORPG because it was full of arseholes. Been playing Vice City to death, which I guess I will go do.

You know Azaha, I think you have underestimated your own forces. I doubt that even a hundred guardsmen with heavy weapons could take down a Hive Tyrant. Those suckers can gut Space Marines.
Azaha
26-07-2005, 02:33
Perhaps, but this is general.

I also don't want people screaming "n00bzorz!" at me because of drastic ratios.
Einhauser
26-07-2005, 02:34
Yea, thats true. Ah, the intricacies of II...

Also, congrats. youve got exactly 300 posts!

You also forgot Carnifexes. Without damn big heavy weapons, it could take out any number of guardsmen without kicking it.
Azaha
26-07-2005, 02:36
I know... that's why I am posting so much... but I didn't get a cool title. *Sobs*.

And what does "II" mean?
Otagia

International Incidents
Einhauser
26-07-2005, 02:40
Yea, Carnys are damn scary as well. You seen the new remake that GW put out?

II means International Incidents, which is the name of this branch of the nationstates forums. I would have said "Ah, the intricacies of NS", but sticklers would have thought I was talking about the NS branch of the nationstates forums, and not nationstates itself.
Azaha

Oh forgot Carnis, yes will add those with high kill ratios.

Okay, your table doesn't seem to take equipment into consideration here. For instance: My 'basic' soldiers are well trained and mostly unenhanced humans for the most part, equivelent to... I'll say Cadians in 40k.

But their weaponry and armor is the real force multiplier of my forces. Since I take a quality over quantity approach to all my weapons designs, my equipment is far better (and far more expensive) than average, even if my basic troops are only slightly better trained than equivelent modern forces.

For instance: One in four of my basic soldiers (Imperial Clone Troopers; not to be confused with Star Wars based Clone Troopers) carries a support weapon roughly equivelent to a longer range meltagun in effect.

Of course, I don't have many military personnel in general to go around. My entire military (for a three billion+ nation) is around twenty million people spread out through all branches of the service.

That is why I said basic units. Not higher-standard units, I am talking in the dirt hoofing it grunts.

I know. That's why I noted my basic units and their equipment choices. Clone Troopers *are* my dirt hoofing grunts. Just because they've got better equipment than normal doesn't change that. :p

Point being that saying 'My units can kill X amount of of yours' without taking into account enemy equipment and doctrine isn't completely accurate.

You are taking things way over technical. As said... it was versus basic generic... not specialized nation's grunts.
Kyanges

Agreed about the technical bit.

Common sense people. you all understood what he meant. No one understands your army better than you, or the guy you're kicking the crap out of with it. So just augment in your mind what these figures and other info mean for you and be done with it.

If people simply thought a little bit more about what people post up when it comes to things like this, there would be far less to have to get all super technical about. Saving sore fingers and headaches for both those posting up, and those reading this stuff, for the story part of RPing.
