"Vir die vrye state, onse Vryheid en onse Kultuur -
Für die Freie State, unseren Freiheit und unseren Kultur -
For the Free States, our Independence and our Culture"

Official Statement from the Republic of Guffingford

'Guffingford has, merely a few hours ago, taken positions with its powerful navy to blockade the Mediterranean Sea to prevent hostiles entering or departing these waters. Allied vessels are allowed to pass, after an extensive search has been conducted on all ships wanting to gain entry. The fleets of Guffingford, the 9th 11th fleets under watchful eye of Captain Dafydd and Captain Vimes guides the 8th and 12 fleet. Needless to say, the entrances to the Mediterranean Sea are blocked at Gribraltar and Suez, do not tempt us to enforce our position by trying to break the blockade. We also like to warn several nations of hostile nature again not to tread near our men, for they shall be destroyed. We will not negotiate for peace, money or land, we will fight because we hate. We hate the arrogance and lies spread by Jarridia, ViZion and Credonia, we hate because they have fought for ideals based on lies.

We do not want peace.

We do not want your false and treacherous promises.

We will not make concessions.

We shall never bend or break to your corrupted, powerhungry will.'

[Signed] - Paul Kruger, Benevolent leader of Guffingford.

We have responded with this message:
Public Statement Regarding Blockade
Should the Guffingford dare attack any non-hostile ships attempting to enter or exit through the Suez or Gibraltar, we will support those ships in an attack upon your blockade. Your fight is not with picking on neutral nations, or so-called "hostile" non-militant vessels who are trying to pass through those two areas. Yet you seem to intent on cutting off the Sea for ALL nations, not just ViZionarian and allied warships, which is a crime against international law, which you seem so apt to disregard. Should any non-militant ships from ViZion or allied nations, or ANY ship from neutral nations, be so much as TOUCHED, rather it is being boarded or attacked, you will severely regret it.

We welcome ALL nations to continue to use the Strait. Disregard their blockade. If your ship, or ships, are damaged or boarded against your will, we will strike them down in your protection!

We urge all nations to demand that they end their blockade of international water. This is against international law, and they are allowing only their allied nations vessels to enter.

Do not allow them to board your ship, nor should you take their threats. They have no right to search your ships, or attack your ships in international waters - especially non-militant vessels. We will defend your ships at all cost.

Would you allow for me to RP a terrorist group in this incident.

My group is called Global Jihad and they specialise in using very large terrorist attacks to start wars between nations, for their own ends.

I could for example do a GJ attack on one of your ships and the terrorists could paint up the attack to frame Gunningford, to start off a war between the two.

Subject: Couldn’t care less

------------

”While it is kind of ViZion to stand up for the nations too weak and pathetic to stand up for themselves, it is a waste of your time and effort. The military of Guffingford, quite simply, is superior to your own and all your good intentions and kind words will be worth nothing when ViZion’s flag is just a picture in the history books as the standard of the Guffingfordii flaps victoriously over your cities. Not only does this has no effect on the isolationist economy of Kriegorgrad but it also does slightly annoy the Collective Oligarchy that ViZion has the audacity to defy such a morally sound nation as the Republic of Guffingford.

Should you not cease your hostilities against the Guffingfordii Republic, the Collective Oligarchy may well be roused to war, which would result in the swift and rather unnecessary demise of your nation. Please do not force our hand in this matter.“

Yours Sincerely,

The Oligarch of Kriegorgrad, Comrade Leader Nikolai Fedorenkov

OOC: Global Jihad could have agents in the area to try something against my ship, due to the past between us. BTW, I decided a submarine would be better suited for this but i'm sending a destroyer, too.

The newest submarine in the Republican Navy was gliding through the ocean at a medium rate of speed. Nothing fast enough to force the helm officer to pay very much attention but nothing slow enough to let him go to sleep on the slowest watch of the schedule.

"Sir, message from a nation called ViZion. Reporting that another nation blocked the Med off on both ends. They're requesting nations send vessels in to run the blockade. The RIA said we should go check it out. They're sending the RMV San Andreas up there, too."

The San Andreas was a semi-new destroyer in the fleet, Izzy Class. Designed for more shallow water than most ships it would still function well in this theatre.

Captain Beccs didn't think for long before she made her comment. "Ok, let's go to Italy, eh?"

RMV San Andreas, 2230 Local Time, Mid Atlantic

Captain Spencer was oddly on the bridge at a late hour. He'd usually have been off for at least 3 hours at this point, but he'd walked onto the bridge less than 30 minutes ago. He'd ordered them to the Med on RIA Intelligence about a possible conflict from his quarters, but he wanted to be on the bridge for the discussion that would be taking place.

"Keep a security squad on deck at all times and man the secondary weapons as soon as we can see land" he barked before sipping his tea to clear his voice.

"Sir, should I get the Marines and the flight detachment active now?" His exectutive officer made things easy. He always seemed to think of what needed to be done when the Captain wasn't thinking at all.

"No, wait 'til the morning to breif them. If we get them up now we're going to have to put up with pissed of Marines til' we go back to port." the Captain said while walking to the CiC to look at the rest of the intelligence.

Official Statement by the New White House

In light of recent developments in the Mediterranean Sea, and specifically the approaches to it, the United States of Independent Hitmen has decided that its Med Fleet, currently on exercise off the coast of Credonian controlled Somalia with elements of the 9th (Indian Ocean) Fleet, will not be returning to its base in Vizion as planned.

Instead President Anderson has ordered elements of the Fleet to move into the Red Sea and observe the blockade from a distance, ready to assist any USIH vessel that so needs it.

Also elements of the 5th (North Atlantic) Fleet have been moved closer to the waters surrounding Gibraltar to monitor this blockade on that end.

If any of these ships are attacked is shall be viewed as an act of war against the United States and her allies which will meet with our full fury.

President Anderson also condems these blockades as illegal, and grossly in breach of the Freedom of the Sea's, as well as numerous nations territorial waters. The President will be consulting with domestic Military Advisers and Allied Heads of Government on a course of action that will be taken.

OOC: Again, it's worth asking which Gibraltar and the Suez this is... I mean the chances are this affects some nations who have already said it does, but we don't actually know who is affected yet and who is just piling in because he's cut some area off... if your nation trade with those who RP themselves being in his version of Gibraltar and the Suez then I can understand this, but otherwise he could just be blocking off his own water.

This is why it's important to know who's actually got coastlines in that region and if they give a shit...

"In further overseas news, Jarridia has responded to the Guiffingford threat of blockade of the Suez Canal in fairly strong language. Sharina has been reported lining up with the WWA alliance against the blockade. There has been no official comment from the Department of External Affairs so far. President Steinberg and the Cabinet are receiving periodic updates about the situation.

The President's ratings have been on the ropes lately due to rising unemployment, and the Conservative opposition is urging stronger action to protect our business interests threatened by the spreading conflict. Senate Conservative Leader Robert Goldman spoke briefly at the Overseas Shipper's Conference at Port Yehoshua, stating that the Steinberg Administration needs to make clear our intention to protect our maritime rights. He also commented that the stand needed to be made as a warning to the blockading powers that West Cedarbrook will put it's money where it's mouth is when it comes to protecting our business and strategic interests.

Meanwhile, Senator Woodrow W. Hayes IV has been noted in consulting meetings with the Department of External Affairs. Senator Hayes has served as Military Attache in Credonia. At this time there is speculation that his higher profile is meant as a signal that the Libertarians are also concerned about this near-war, and are serious about evaluating our neutrality. The Libertarians have been damaged in this respect by allegations of an anti-Credonian bias due to pressure from the Union of Acrese Students and other ethnic interest groups. The higher profile of Senator Hayes is seen as giving assurance that West Cedarbrook could work with Credonia, as well as Jarridia and Sharina with which we have good relations, in the event of any balance toward the WWA.

ooc: responding to Axis Nova's offer for a reward to any merchant captain who violates the blockade...

ic:

Billy O'Keefe was a thrill seeker. He'd been in the business of blockade running for years now, bringing in shipments of illegal arms, drugs, and women from all over the world to Bonstock. He'd been in a lot of hairy situations, including at least one arrest by the Bonstocknian Coast Guard. Of course, with a few drugs, he was able to bribe his way out of that one, and was acquitted. Sure, he'd murdered a few people on the way. Some Bonstocknian customs agents just get to close sometimes. Either way, he'd made an honest living running through blockades. Together with his first mate, Charlie McGregor, and their small, fast boat, the Little Eagle, they were some of the most feared smugglers on the high seas.

Of course, every now and then they would need to borrow money, which they would pay back in shipments. One such lender was Oliver Jaback. King of the Bonstocknian underworld, he needed a shipment of nearly a billion dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana, and payed O'Keefe and McGregor to get it. A dangerous assignment. But the rewards would be great.

They picked the shipment up, of course, and started coming back. It was uneventful. No stoppages, not even a simple revenue collector to bother them. But as soon as they got within sight of the Bonstocknian shoreline, their luck ran out. Someone had tipped off somebody at the Bonstocknian Coast Guard about the shipment, and that somebody was eager for a little payback at the two miscreant smugglers. Dozens of warships appeared in the path to shore, and they were chasing after the Little Eagle, and gaining.

O'Keefe looked out at the ships. "Dammit McGregor, dump the cargo!" he yelled.

"Billy, this shit's worth nearly a billion!"

"Yeah, but either we pay that or we'll be spending a lot of time in prison."

"All right."

Nearly a billion dollars worth of drugs was dumped into the waters off Bonstock that day. A helicopter flew overhead, and a boarding party of a few Coastguardmen rappelled onto the boat.

"Let me see the cargo hold," one of the boarders commanded.

O'Keefe showed them every nook and cranny on that damn boat. Not a single morsel of illegal items. The coastguardmen tipped their hats, apologized for the inconvenience, and left.

O'Keefe was able to land safely in Bonstock's capital of Port Yuko. Unfortunately, one of Oliver Jaback's lackeys was there waiting. "Wheres the shipment?" he demanded.

O'Keefe smiled a bit, and said, "It's not exactly here right now. Just give me a few more days."

"I will tell him that," the man said, and left.

McGregor was right behind O'Keefe. "I have a bad feeling he knows exactly what shit we pulled today."

"Yeah, you're probably right," was O'Keefe's response.

They tied their ship up at the docks, and went downtown to a local tavern, the Port Yuko Cantina. As a band played a lively tune, all sorts of scum and villianry gathered in this wretched hive, and began discussing their operations and sipping some of the best drinks in Bonstock. O'Keefe sat down with McGregor at the bar. "What'll it be, Billy?" the bartender said, with a thick Russian accent.

"Just the usual, Vlad. A nice vodka for both of us. It's been a long day."

"Yeah, heard you boys just got past whole god damn Bonstocknian Navy today."

"Hey, Vlad, you know where I can get me a billion dollars real easy real fast?"

"Myself, I'm not sure. But I hear rumors from Mediterranean. Guffingford is blockading Mediterranean at both exits. And Axis Nova is offering one billion US dollars to anyone who breaks the blockade."

"One billion smackers! My god that can save our skin! McGregor, get back to the ship and get 'er ready. We're goin to the Mediterranean, lad!"

"All right," McGregor said, taking his vodka and leaving.

"Thanks a million, Vlad!" O'Keefe said.

"Don't mention it," Vlad responded.

O'Keefe got up. A man with a pistol confronted him. "Going somewhere, Billy?" he said.

"Yes, Beedo," said O'Keefe, casually sitting down at a booth. "I was just going to see your boss, tell him I'll have his shipments soon."

Beedo sat down across from him, pointing his pistol angrily. "Jaback's though with you. He has no time for smugglers who drop their cargo at the first sign of a Bonstocknian Coast Guard cutter. He's put a price on your head so big, every bounty hunter in Bonstock will be looking for you. I'm lucky I found you first."

O'Keefe began thumbing a pistol in his pocket. "But I have his money this time."

"If you give it to me," said Beedo greedily, with a hint of sadistic glee in his voice, "I might forget I found you."

O'Keefe paused a moment. "I don't have the money with me right now."

"Tell that to Jaback," Beedo shot back. "He might only take your ship."

"Over my dead body."

"That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this!"

"Yeah, I bet you have!" O'Keefe pulled his pistol out, and shot Beedo between the eyes as he blinked. Beedo's face fell onto the table, his body stone-cold dead. The music paused for a moment, as the rest of the tavern began staring. O'Keefe got back up. Then everyone turned back to what they were doing, and the music began playing again. O'Keefe tossed a few coins to Vlad. "Sorry bout that," he said, and casually exited the tavern.

O'Keefe walked back to the docks. "Let's get going, McGregor," he shouted. "Next stop, the Mediterranean, and one billion dollars of Axis Nova reward money!"

'We do not recognize Jarridia's claims on sovereign Egyptian territory, nor do we recognize them as a sovereign nation. The Guffingfordian administration reserves its God given rights to block any piece of water as they see fit, and none of you is authorized to negiotiate with us. Neutral nations such as Schultaria Prime, Risban, Independent Hitmen, Euroslavia, Hogsweat and other fully neutral nations are allowed to pass freely, but we will monitor every move they make. If we even get the feeling they're passing weapons around, we will block their passage.

Plus, we have decided, in light of the acts of aggression towards Guffingford, to enforce our naval positions with more ships. A few days ago we have ordered the AAF 288 to depart Svalbard to support the blockade at Gribraltar, and the same goes for Suez, which shall come from Socrota. We expect that none of you fools decide to make a move against us, for we will make short work of that. We know how to treat unwanted people, just like we do back home.

Official Grey House Statement

Though the Grand Republic's view of the nationstate of Guffingford is well-known by the International Community, due to continuing military and economic commitments elsewhere in the Grand Republic's areas of responsibilities, the Grand Republic will not actively engage in any form of participation in the matter between Guffingford and its allies, and inVizion and its allies. Instead, the Grand Republic declares itself as a neutral power in this conflict and blockade situation, and will not aid or aggrevate either side during the current 'situation'.

However, the Grand Republic will not have its vessels subjected to being blockaded, stopped or boarded by any involved nations naval vessels during the crisis, and will continue to have its civilian and military procede along their pre-crisis routes and passages; any attempt to stop, detain or in any way interfere with vessels of the Grand Republic will result in an act of war being declared upon the nationstate controlling the offending vessels, and immediate military action being taken against that nationstate.

In responce to this cowardly tactic taken by the government of Axis Nova, we condemn their lack of respect put towards the lives of civilian mariners by offering them such a large reward for a possibily suicidal act. Surely the government of Axis Nova could simply attempt to do this on their own and risk the lives of their soldiers instead of offering ludicrous amounts to others to do their dirty work.

While we are still unsupportive of the Guffingford blockade, we would like to remind people that there is often a political solution to these things... however we understand those who are directly affected need fast solutions (assuming they actually need access to those areas, because frankly if they don't then it's not really that important at all) and as such we will not comdemn military actions to further resolve this sitation.

Instead, however we will condemn those who send the lives of innocents into almost certain death so that they may have their pretext for war... such actions are cowardly at best and atrocious at worse. We all know that Guffingford does not respect the lives of others except their own, but we would have thought that others who claim to be morally superiour would have more respect for human life.

On board the Xeraphian battle cruiser Element, 770 miles off the African coast, SSW of the Straits of Gibralter........

" Admiral, this just in from HQ." The ensign's hand trembled as he held the report out.
Admiral Lord LaClerque, commander of the 46th CBG, read the note....twice. " Ensign, call all officers to the mess hall."
"Aye sir........sir, is it.........?"
LeClerque glanced at the young seaman, grimaced as if his stomach had gone sour, and said one word...........Guffingford.

_________________________________________________________________

"M'lord, the situation in the MedSea/Gibralter Region is critical. Guffingford is standing firm with their stance. Xeraph has been named as one of the nations not to be allowed passage through the Strait."
Alaric Tan'it, Emperor of Xeraph, looked almost amused at the look of anxiety and tension apparent on the colonel's face.
" Colonel Maxell, you look a bit perturbed. Stop and think a minute about the situation. Guffingford is blockading the Straits of Gibralter. He's picking and choosing who HE is going to allow to pass through them. He's telling us, Credonia, Jarridia, and ViZion that WE can't. The four of us combined, with or without aid from the rest of the WWA, can at the very least fight him to a standstill with just a portion of the forces available to us. If the rest of the Empire's nations, and a few of the WWA's allies, throw their weight into the mix, Old Guff doesn't stand a chance. True, the war will be destructive in the extreme, but he can't win. No, colonel, Kruger is scheming. He's planning something, or wants something, that he has not yet made apparent. We'll wait. Xeraph has over 550 ships IN the MedSea, and the CBGs on the way will almost double that. Our land-based AirWings in allied territory and our ground troops will have to be significantly beefed up, but we have time. Guff is not stupid, despite the Nazi rhetoric.
Colonel, have Ricala monitor all Guffingfordian military movements, as well as any nations still his allies. Have the Katanas, Legions, and Shadows at high deployment alert, and prepare a statement to all Xeraphian allies. We may make this a world affair if push comes to shove."

Official Statement from the Benevolent Dictatorship of Iuthia

http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/iuthia.jpg

In order for a political solution to be possible, the Republic of Guffingford would have to be willing to accept diplomacy in the first place, as would the four nations which have been directly affected by this blockade. So far we note some willing on Guffingford's behalf and we recognise that nations such as ViZion occasionally take the diplomatic route, albeit only when they want others to support their otherwise questionable actions.

So, while I'm sure that diplomacy will take place in some form or another, it's becoming increasingly clear that military responce to this blockade is being forced by it's very presence, which damages the affected nations trade routes and as such time is of the essence for these nations. Clearly it's a defencive action, however it provokes an aggressive responce and the economic damage to others is more then enough reason for military action.

As such, first we ask for the conditions required for the removal of this blockade or at least some kind of concession which would allow all non-military ships to pass through the waters and conduct trade as normal. By cutting off trade routes allied to ViZion, Credonia and other nations you force military responce... in order for a non-military solution to be found this urgancy would have to be removed.

To be honest though, the problem here is that both nations do not recognise the other. However, you will have to recognise the threat you both present to one another and the potential loss of lives this situation presents and balance that threat with what you are prepared to stand up for. Clearly the damage to some nations economies will demand action... they have to stand up against that, though they can work diplomatically during that action. The bigger question here is, "What does Guffingford want out of this?".

I apologise for the Diplomacy 101, I'm sure we are all aware of this situation and how it may or may not be resolved, but a little reminder never hurt anyone. We stand by our view that this blockade it little more then a escilation from the previous situation into a new problem... however we stand neutral in that we have only want it to end for political reasons, we don't need it to end and we aren't about to force it to end.

Thanks,

Vermins presence here is a mere detail for you, but an important issue for us. Vermini Naval officers believe it is necessary for them to protect their merchant fleet wherever it sails, therefore we send this message to the Guffingfordian government:

Oberkommando Der Hochseeflotte
Gen.st.d H - Op.Abt. IS
225/41 g.Kdos./Chefs
[ - Chef sache - ]
[Nur durch Offizier]

The first messages of Guffingfords blockade got us worried, making us believe that Guffingford had blocked the strait of Gibraltar and the Suez canal for all shipping, so it was a relief to hear that the blockade is only limited to those nations considered to be enemies of Guffingford.

I, and with me the Government, hopes to find the Durthangist Reich of Vermin on the list of neutral nations or allies as we have always been in the past. It is in the position of ally that we would like to ask you to set the Suez canal and the strait of Gibraltar open to the Vermini Hochseeflotte, especially in cases where an intervention of our navy is required.

In return we will offer you all the information that commercial and military ships gather inside and outside the mediterreanian, behind enemy lines. I am certain that you are interested in such a deal and hope to see a positive response from you in the cioming days.

Statement from the New White House

We applaud the uncharacteristic move of Guffingford to limiting the blockade to just a few nations. However the strict monitoring of our merchant traffic has us slightly perturbed, as there is routine traffic to Vizion, Dr_Twist and Russian Forces, all of whoom are long term allies and operate ports on the Med Coast.

Some weapons are undoutably being carried on such shipments, as the arms trade between our nations is very brisk, and also highly valued. Any interference in this will be viewed as highly unfriendly by the USIH, and no Guffingford citizen has permission to step aboard any vessel flying the IH flag.

The IH navy will enforce such measures if called upon to do so.

Speech by King Horus:

"It has come to my attention that Guffingford has a blockade on the major trade areas of the world, in paticular, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Suez Canal. In order to halt the illegal atcions of this rogue nation, the Kingdom of Vietnamexico will no longer endorse in any way, the nation of Guffingford, eonomicly or by any other means. There are currently three-hundred forty Guffingford nationals in the the country, all of whom are now ask to leave the country or face forced deportation. The nation of Vietnamexico will not allow the tyranny of Guffingford to triumph over the good nation of ViZion. Thank you, and May the Kingdom Live Eternal."

RMV San Andreas, Off Northwest Coast of Africa

"Ok boys this may get hot. In all honestly, we could end up defending ourselves against a fairly large fleet. But we're here as an observer. Maybe that'll help ease things a bit." Those were the last words in the semi-long speech the Marine Colonel commanding the forces aboard San Andreas was giving about the current situation.

The 50 man Marine force had been given it's orders. The 30 man infantry unit was split into 2 groups. One on deck whenever in sight of land or other ships and one on standby. The twenty man air detachment had been ordered to have 3 helo's ready for launch and to keep the hanger bay weapons lockers loaded. Several shoulder fired anti-air missiles had been brought up from the armory and could be on deck and operational fairly quick.

"I want you to send a message to the Guffingford fleet. Ask them if it would be possible for us to be allowed into the Med. Tell them that our guns will be down and our helo's secured. And tell them that if it makes them feel better they can send a small party over to inspect and make sure we aren't carrying a boatload of guns into the med."

The Captain was trying to work his way into the Med to make contact with the Nations there and access the situation. Although he had his doubts about being able to get in he knew that eventually someone was going to run the line.

Subject: Status of West Cedarbrook Shipping in the Mediterranean

Please ascertain for us the status of our shipping in the Mediterranean, in the view of Guiffingford. Our merchant fleet needs to know if our ships will pass unhindered in that region. Needless to say, any announcement of refusal to pass will reflect in public opinion and on pressure on the Steinberg administration.

Once again, we ask Guffingford end their blockade. We are prepared to allow any vessels enter and exit the Sea, and should Guffingford block any vessel - no matter what it carries - or even worse, attack the vessels, we will be forced to destroy your blockade.

Once again, we urge all nations to continue using the international waters of Gibraltar, and no not conceed to a boarding or blockade by Guffingford. We will assure your nations vessels free usage of this waterway.

Once again, Guffingford. End your blockade. Should you continue to blockade vessels from using this international waterway, or even worse, board or attack them - no matter what the ships carry - then we will be forced to launch an assault upon your blockade. We will make SURE all nations have free access to this water that is not controlled by your nation, nor is it by any other nation. You have absolutely no right to blockade nations from using these water ways.

We also urge all nations to transport what they can via the air. We are currently working on an emergency airport on an island off our coastline (Italy) for ALL civilian airplanes to touch down on and refuel, and then continue onto their destination. We also urge other nations in the Sea to take similar steps towards allowing non-hostile aircrafts to land and refuel.

Official Communication to Guffingford

Dear Esteemed Leadership of Guffingford,

We seem to have got off on the wrong foot, and I would like to take this time to re-calibrate our current conditions so that we can further move forward in discussions. You seem to think that you are making a statement by blockading the Red Sea and Gibraltar, but really, I, and many others, see this as nothing but a ploy to gain attention. Currently, I see you as a small teenage girl, running about and flailing your little arms. Now, I don't mean to insult you, but to merely point out how you are coming across to me, and others.

I believe that you need to take a step back, and look at the big picture. What exactly are you blockading and why? Why are you being so stubbord, and cutting off trade to so many vibrant and productive nations? Is this for your own personal goals, or merely to try and make yourself stand out? To me, this seems as a publicity stunt and nothing more. To get your name out there. This conflict is going to continue, with our without your intervention.

I have nothing against you, nor does any person in Jarridia. This is not disrupting our trade in the least, as we are not located primarily in the Mediterranean. I am coming to you on my own free will, to inform you of what the international community is beginning to think. The choice, of course, is yours. All recommendations point to coming to the table and ending this silly and disrespectful embargo. Let you and I come to an agreement, and get the Suez Canal running again. Put ViZion and the rest behind, I'm sure you and I can fix any sort of questions and qualms you may have.

ViZion is preparing to build an island in the waters of Barcelone, Spain. This island will hold a large emergency airport. It will be mainly runways and areas to refuel, as well as recompressing the area and getting fresh water onboard civilian planes. This is in response to the blockade made by Guffingford.

We urge all nations to maintain trading and using the waterway of Gibraltar Strait. However, we also ask that you do as much of the trading as possible via the air. This island, as well as the island off the coast of ViZion (Italy) are for all civilian aircrafts of any nations to make stops to refuel and freshen their watersupply, as well as ridding the airplane of all waste. However, as little as possible done is encouraged to keep things from getting backed up.

We also ask all friendly nations who have the ability to, to help us in our efforts to build this emergency airport island as quickly and safely as possible. Time is of the essense.

Thank you!

To whom it may concern,

Per Credonia's committment and promise of military aid to Vizion, Credonian troops are, as you already know, beginning their flight to your nation. In addition to this support, Credonia would like to make use of your nation's air bases to assist in the defense of your nation. If such authorization is given from your nation, the green light will be given here in Credonia to send a large number of bomber aircraft to your nation to assist in the defense of your nation from foreign attack. They will be flying in through from the north so that Guffingford cannot say that those bombers are offensive in nature giving him false justification for attacking them. All fighter aircraft will be arriving and provided by the aircraft carriers coming in from the east. Please respond ASAP.

Mr. Ferguson, you are authorized to the usage of our airfields. Once again, we thank you for your support. We will win this war! May God have mercy on their soils - as we will have none against their military and their government.

President Sutton, it is always a pleasure hearing from you. We would like to request that aid be sent to quicken the building of this man-made island airport. Time is not something we have a lot of. This illegal blockade has caused many problems. But, I assure you, we will be victorious. They best be praying for forgiveness of their sins, as we will have no mercy on their government or their military, unless they surrender.

The reports about the Mediterranean Sea Situation flooded President David Conway's desk. It was taking him a long time to fully comprehend and understand everything. Perhaps it was for the best. He didn't want another quick, foolish declaration of war like last time.
Deciding to take a short break, he swung his chair around and sipped on some coffee as he looked out into the large, crowded metropolis that was Cheddar City. The sun was just coming up, and it was shining directly on the city. It was a beautiful sight as the building windows sparkled as the sun slowly rose over the land. But the thoughts of what to do about the Guffingford situation entered his mind again. He sighed. It was a tough job being the President, but it was the one he chose to do.

The intelligence reports showed the recent assembly of naval forces near the Guffingfordian blockades. The situation looked bad, and seemed to only be getting worse. The military forces from one side were pressuring the other, and it was only a matter of time before the situation blew out into total war.

Cheeser12 had maybe a few trade routes to the Mediterranean. Nothing that would ruin the economy if the trade route was suddenly cut off. And they could get some of the trading done by air. So there were no worries.

But that didn't change the fact that what Guffingford was doing was wrong. At least, that's what President Conway thought. He wouldn't take such rash actions as to position naval forces outside of the blockades, but he would issue a statement stating his disapproval of Guffingford's actions. However, he would make it clear that a diplomatic course of action would be best course here.

Official Statement From the People's Republic of Cheeser12

The People's Republic doesn't recognize the right of Guffingford to blockade International Waters to even non-military vessels that so much as diplomatically suppourt ViZion or its allies. We believe that Guffingford should allow non-military vessels through. The blockade may have negative effects on some nation's economies.

Cheeser12, as it is basically unaffected by this blockade will not use military force to challenge Guffingford's blockade as of this moment.

We would also like to join Iuthia in a recommendation of diplomatic action instead of military force. It would be most preferable and would save lives and money to come to an agreement between the two sides.

We recommend that a suitable neutral nation be found to hold diplomatic talks as soon as possible.

Xeraph
26-07-2005, 17:09
Aboard the Xeraphian battle cruiser Element, off the coast of Africa:

As he sipped his morning coffee, Captain Kettleman read the latest updates on the Guff/Gibralter situation. Things were still heating up, but much more slowly than in previous days. Warnings and declarations were still being traded, but no action had as yet occured. A few nations had declared for one side or another, but at this point, words rather than bullets were predominating. " Friggin' politicians," he thought, "always talking, wrangling over minute details of sovreignty and the finer points of international law. Fuck Guffingford. Alaric oughtta give the order to engage. Settle once and for all Guff's claim of invincibility. Bastards think theyr'e God's gift to the planet."
As he was thinking, Ensign Dobrowski delivered the latest info. " Well, Dob...how goes it?"
" Nothing much new, sir. Guff spouting off as usual. One would think with all his bravado and sabre-rattling that the shooting would have started by now."
" Yeah.......but the Emperor thinks that all of this nonsense is a means to an end for Guff. He thinks that Kruger wants something, and that this 'excercise' is just a step towards that end. Guff isn't stupid. He'd put up one hell of a fight if we, Credonia, Jarridia, and ViZ attack him, but he knows that he couldn't defend himself indefinately. Or even if some of those RWC assholes help him. No, Alaric is pretty wise when it comes to shit like this. And even if he's wrong, we'll still prevail. We'll just have to wait and see."
" Aye, sir...........hurry up and wait."
West Cedarbrook

West Cedarbrook Defense Intelligence Organization,
Mediterranean Task Force,
Meeting Room C

The staff wearily assembled for their 5:00 PM update, the last of the day before shipping the report to the
Department of External Affairs. The first shift team looked frazzled, as usual by now. A few cigarette stubs
and empty coffee mugs littered the side table in the far corner. Col. Blake Horwitz, Chief of Financial
Operations for the Task Force presided at the head of the table.

"Vern, we have confirmation of the suspected Guff money laundering." he said, turning to the tall, heavyset
man to his left. "The hand-outs track two front companies operating in West Cedarbrook for the last week."

"Don't forget, we've also been tracing Credonian transactions, and find them clean as a whistle", reminded Linda
Orlowski, the Security Liason from the Office of the Comptroller of Currency, at the far end of the table.

"That's right", agreed Horwitz. "And the administration will be relieved to know that, too. As you can see,
Linda's people have identified transactions for Richmond Plaster & Gypsum in the amount of 32 Million Zugs,
and Slobody Services Inc. at 21 Million Zugs last week with missing bills of lading. These same amounts were
deposited at accounts at 3rd Commercial Union Bank and Manufacturer's Credit Bank, respectively. By the end
of the week, the monies were wired offshore. The offshore bank's postal addresses linked to Guffingford held
institutions".

"That project for linkage to prohibited foreign transactions wrapped up a month ago. Looks like the timing
was pretty damn good!", Orlowski responded.

"Give that project team three week's paid vacation!" suggested Vernon Wormer, the Deputy Attorney General
for the Commercial Activities Money Laundering Unit. "Blake, do you want us to move on this now?"

"No", Horwitz ordered. "We're going to highlight this baby and contrast it with Credonia's clean bill of
health in today's report. Ernie Klein and the guys at External Affairs lead on this. But be ready to
move in with indictments if they give the green light, Vern. And Linda, keep up the good work.".

"I'm going to have my boys draw up indictments ovenight, and request search warrants. All of this is under
wraps. But with demand building from the gung-ho hawks, you can bet we get the go-ahead from Klein", Wormer
answered.

"Maybe so, but we don't do anything until we do get that go-ahead. Once again, as always, any decision
that impacts neutrality is gonna be viewed by how it hits public opinion. Right now there's a lot of pressure
from the Conservatives to get into this thing. But Klein is still talking with Hayes about approaching Credonia
and the WWA, so we can't appear to be tilting in that direction until External makes the decision.", Horwitz
muttered.
