Replicating Blockade Mine
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/muahdib/storefront/Blockmine.jpg
Length: 50 meters
Mass: 5,000 metric tonnes
Power: 1 Fusion Reactor
Weapons:
4 * 60mm Pulse cannons
500 Proximity Antimatter Mines (5 Megaton)
Defence:
- Mk.VI Shield Grid
The blockade mine replicator is a deployable satelite, that has a replicator and material to build mines on its own and deploy them on orbit of the planet or in the transmited coordinates. Each mine replicator is capable of building up to 500 antimatter mines with the material it has onboard. More mines can be built if a ship comes close enough to beam more material into the cargo bay. Each mine has a power of 5 megatons, and the mine replicator can make more to suplement the ones that are destroyed. The rate of building mines is 1 every 30 seconds, making it capable of deploying 120 mines per hour.
Deployment of the blockade mine replicator will be realised by a new class of ships, mine layer class, that will be able to carry up to 100 blockade replicators to the designated target.
Detection will be made either by the mines at short range, or one of the replicators at long distance.
In the event that the replicator is destroyed, the mines are able of making their own decisions, based on the sensor arrays that they posses.
If some of the mines are destroyed and there is no replicator material available to fill the void, then the mines will move into position so that the empty spaces are covered again.
Price for one blockade replicator is 1 billion credits.
Deployment:
Blockade replicators will be placed in orbit of 5 major planets, in position to cover the entire area. In case a threat is found or war is declared, the replicators are capable to deploy the entire minefield in 4 hours.
The average number of blockade replicators will be of 100 per planet, capable of creating a field composed of 50,000 antimatter mines, each of 5 megaton power.
Total cost of the program is 500 billion credits for the main 5 planets, and in the second phase another 15 planets will be protected. First phase will take place in the next 2 years, and the next phase will take another 3 years and will cost 1,5 trillion credits.
