((FT))Green Sun announces Project 'Scrap'

To reduce the costs of making our already-cheap Starships, UziCorp has begun working on an unmanned ship. Project 'Scrap' will hopefully end in a robot, infused with an AI with no personality, that travels through space to where battles have taken place, where ships have been destroyed, or where there's a bunch of scrap parts and metal, and searches the areas for useable, fixable, or otherwise useful items for building Starships. We hope that Project Scrap's robots will be able to hold droids that will fix, repair, or create parts with the metal and parts found to create a whoel starship on the spot, at least in the later models. Scientists are optimistic that they will be able to create a robot that can upgrade itself to the point it is a manable Starship, and then detatch enough that it can still function properly and then will tow the ship back to Green Sun space. Should the robots wander into another nation's space or they wish to use the ships' parts if they can prove that the parts belonged to one of their ships, contacting the robots (Frequency will be given to those who ask for it) will have them contact the nearest Green Sun vessel, Starbase, or other GS-owned property or planet so that brief discussions can be held.

We hope that Project Scrap will be profitable for everyone to reuse and recycle materials that have sacrificed themselves for their nations, but most likely it will profit us.

The Concordiat is impressed by this program. It emulates the ways of our nation, and we are pleased by this first step to Mechanization. We will be willing to program and supply the AI and other computer components for this project.

Green Sun's AI programs are sufficient enough for this project. In fact, we have one of the personality-less AIs ready. At this point it's a matter of making the body and the technology that it will require to make such an advanced robot. Building a Starship on the spot out of nothing but parts of ruins will be quite a task to make possible.

As for Concordiat's offer, we wil have to refuse. If we ever decide to become fully mechanized at all, we will make that step on our own, but the likelyhood of that happening is unlikely during this century.

That is unfortunate. We may assist with the technology, although we do not know exactly what you are seeking.

It will be actual progress if we do this on our own. This will be tricky because the AI and the drones will have to improvise a lot, which is why we're not programming the schematics of our current starships into their systems. They wil merely have a basic idea on what to create.

The technology is intriguing. We have AI systems of our own, known collectively as Gracie, and your idea may yet prove inspiring. Good job.

The propulsion and Warp drives are ready. It can reach Warp 9 if its cargo is secure enough. We have a model of both the droids and the Robot itself may look like.

Programming is complete. Now we have to assemble the bodies and then the Collector Model (Version 1) will be unleashed onto teh galaxy. The Sollector Model will go around gathering scrap parts and metal to bring home for assembly. It gives out a Probe signal and will always give out a neutral signal if it encounters another vessel.

The Collector model is completed. It will be ready to launch within two months. The Green Sun science community (And the shipbuilders) are very excited, and are buzzing with joy.
