Yes, how vunerable is it to a railgun strike?

thats really big for a weapons platform, 15 MIRVs (the part of a nuclear missile that reenters and the only part present in most space based weapons) could be contained and fired from a much smaller sattelite.

Subject: Consequences

------------

”Kriegorgrad would like to express its deepest concerns at the construction of a weapon such as S.N.A.P by such an irresponsible nation as Tonissia, should steps not be made to make Kriegorgrad feel more at ease, more potent actions may follow.

You have been warned, we will brook no insolence.“

Yours Sincerely,

To: Tonissian Government
From: Major-General Nathaniel Warner, Republican Space Force Command
Subject: SNAP Weapons Complex

The Republican Space Force has watched the development of this weapons platform with some concern. With the RSF taking a much larger role in the defence of the Republic and her territories, your weapons platform has been classified as a threat by RSF Command. We wish to know the exact weapons used in the platform, and your intentions with the weapons platform itself.

Such a weapons platform is a large project, and a potentially dangerous one as well; it would be unfortunate if the Platform were to be seen as a threat for much longer by the RSF, as appropriate actions would have to be taken to neutralise the platform and its cargo of weapons. We hope for a rapid, and hopefully defusing, response from your government.

Irrelevant.

If someone launches 300 nukes at my nation I know they're coming, but that doesn't mean i'm capable of shooting them all down.

On that note, I put 8 nukes on a PMT Orbital spacecraft, methinks that if it was needed the spacecraft could be converted into a troop transport.

To me nukes in space are a little overkill.

The only way I would use a nuke first is a tactical sense, like against a fleet or something, and those are such low yeild the radiation from them is too low to cause a big problem.

I have a serious problem with people putting 80 megaton themonuclear warheads in space.

That's nice. What are you going to do about it?

Many, many, many, many many nations in II have space-based nuclear weapons.

I know this, and so do I.

It just gets a little stupid alot of the time, IMO.

Anyone check to see if its possible with his Defense Budget to make such a weapon?

To his first message I reply basicly with you cannot intimidate this Republic or this Region. (His nation and his other puppet nations) have on many occasions tried to gain access to my region Tundra.

I stand with Skinny87 & Kriegorgrad. A nation as foolish as Tonissia shouldint have paint-ball guns, nevermind orbital weapon platforms.

[OOC: 1) How much do these cost?

2) I dont think you can destroy a nation with only 15 nukes.

I considered launching some of these things but they're really vulnerable and expensive. Best to put nukes in subs.]

Best to put nukes in subs.

Agreed. That or, if you're good at designing them, some sort of stealthy aircraft.

News of this latest highly publicized foray into orbital weapons has triggered alarm throughout Aysheaia.

Aysheaian analyst Ren Rynquist, on a recent episode of "Concur", had this to say about S.N.A.P.:

"...Looks like he's capable of fielding the thing, he's got a 3.5 trillion dollar defense budget.

...At the same time, it looks like an incredible money sink, especially when you look at it's relatively small stock of missiles. My first impression is that Tonissia is either lying about it's capabilities or they've got plans to build a few of them."

We attempted to interview Aysheaian defense secretary Fen i Remen about this development.

[cut to the secretary jogging while yelling on a cell phone]

"...I don't care where you gotta get the money from, I want those missiles now! Look, this thing is right over-hey, you! Get that camera out of my face!"

[camera jerks and goes black]

Professional skater Phrank Phenwick had this to say:

"Thats lame, dude..."

This has been Walter Kongkite and this is your news in a minute.

A spaceship comes within 50 m of the ship and sent a transmission "We are from a distant galaxy and wish to see this space platfrom we mean you no harm"

This technology is already obsolescent. I have 18 much smaller defence satellites with similar capabilities. Your station is a huge target that they could easily destroy. You haven't given us any information on its armor or defensive systems, or on its dimensions (though judging by your image of the ISS, its about 360 feet long).

Wouldn't putting nukes in space work the same as putting them in a submarine, in theory anyway?

The basic idea is you want to put them up, keep them invisable, and keep them moving?

If something's in space it isnt invisible. The whole world saw you put it up there and the more powerful nations will keep tabs on it with radar. A sub, on the other hand, is lost as soon as it goes underwater, and even if you do know where it is you cant just missile it like you can a satellite.

Meh, 'twas wrong then.

But something this big to support only 15 warheads is WAAAAY overkill, IMO.

I think the idea of setting some nuclear ordance aside for bombers isn't completly out of the question, though, but that's just me.

Your many proxy nations, how you acted on the The Pits forum, etc...you need to show some self restraint.
