The "Strum" class

No pictures are avaliable, due to the fact the ship is undergoing secret, and rigourous, combat tests. However, the MelekTaus Imperial Navy has revealed some of its statistical facts for foreign countries to study.

OOC: I don't think you want to have 12.5 inch guns as a secondary armament if 16 inch guns are your main gun armament. The fire control problems of similar armament size would be too great. I'd drop down to at most 6 inches for your secondary gun armament.

And you've said nothing so far about protection. Is it made of steel and if so, how many inches would there be covering critical areas, main deck, bulkheads, conning towers, etc? It looks like this is an effort at a modernised Iowa-class battleship in my opinion.

The ship is constructed 100% of steel, with lifting tanks that can be filled with A grade helium for lift. It's simple, reckless, and "cost effective" in comparison to making some superlightweight space age metal alloy. The armour is about 6 inches thick in the critical locations, i.e bridge, engine room and gun emplacements. It's 3 inches on other areas.


OOC: On the Iowa battleship, 12in work fine. Do you actually know the principals of a DP gun though? Think of it as a long barreled light cannon, liek the ones infantry use.

And yes, it is a Modernized IOWA, using NS made Katanas insead of Tomahawks, since my previous nation Trolsk used them. But, as you can tell through my posts, I'm still developing my navy. (NS being a Nation States nation who invented them. Warlord if I remembmer..)

I curious as to how many men you will be having to crew it. If thats not confidential information.

I think your Armaments are about right, though I would stress making sure it has some advanced sonar detection, and a little more AA guns. The gatlings work well against most types of short range fighters, but you may want something a bit more expansive on AA. Other than that the 16in guns should work well to bully any other ships away, unless you get outgunned...but good work non-the-less.
