Diary secretary for Emperor Andrew the First:

Our lord and master would love to see your quaint little capital.

We would call it a village, but never mind.

::Three MH-53 helicopters circle twice then land on an undisclosed pad in the outskirts of the city. The Pax Germanic advance team quickly begins unloading and mobilizing toward the living accommodations::

Sergeant Bill Titley (to men): This is the route that the Prime Minister will be taking, so I want waypoints every quarter mile, we don’t want a repeat of our neighbor’s incident.

::Soldiers laugh as an aide representing Strength and Virtue approaches the party::

Titley: And who might you be little missy?

Aide: Miss Barbara Wells, representing Prime Minister Arnold…. and you are?

Titley: Sergeant William Titley, Germanic advance team. I’m here to make sure that your security people know what they are doing.

Wells: I can assure you that we have not overlooked a single aspect of the security of this event. Your Prime Minister will be safe, I promise.

Titley: Listen here hunny, this ain’t no tea party. There’ll be foreign dignitaries from all corners of the globe in attendance. There are lots o’ details that can be overlooked, and when the s#!t hits the fan, you can be sure that we are gonna’ be there to scrape it off!

Wells (sharply): I’ll inform the bellhops of your arrival.

::Prime Minister Arnold walks out with two of his chancellors at his side with arms open::

Prime Minister Arnold: Ahh! Welcome! We don't wish to upset the Great Pax Germanic Nation, our home is your home! Please, let me take you on a tour.

::The great and mighty Pax Germanic Soldiers look at each other with puzzled looks. Never has a Prime Minister walked up to armed soldiers like this before. A soldier wispers to Titley::

Soldier: Sarge, should we kill him?

Titley: No....that would be way too easy and not very exciting.

Prime Minister Arnold: Come now, we are nothing to be feared, especially against the great Pax Germania.

:: Throughout the capital city of The Dominion of Strength and Virtue windows rattle and pictures fall from their wall-mounts as a massive Antonov An-225 roars overhead.

As the immense aircraft rolls to a stop four MH-53 helicopters land, one at either end and on each side of the plane. The enormous nose of the Prime Minister’s private transport slowly tilts open revealing a motorcade of 2 Hummers and 2 burgundy Dusenbergs. Behind the motorcade is a partition separating the opulent cargo bay from the lavish living quarters. As loadmasters roll off the vehicles Sergeant Bill Titley rushes toward the mahogany double doors in the partition::

Titley (to intercom): Sergeant Bill Titley, Advance Team.

::After a moment, one of the doors opens slightly. Titley enters and is escorted to the Prime Minister’s chambers::

Prime Minister Hans Gorebl: Greetings Sergeant, what news have you?

Titley: Sir, the security is tighter than Churchill’s belt. Sir.

Gorebl: Excellent. How is the pothole situation?

Titley: Sir, the motorcade route is being resurfaced as we speak. Sir. ….Permission to speak freely. Sir.

Gorebl: Why of course.

Titley: What is all of this for? Sir. Why are we even bothering with this insignificant speck on the map? Do we not have a defection to worry about? Sir.

Gorebl: Ahhh, my friend, we have that matter under control (winks) trust me. And as for being in this godforsaken shanty-town, we mustn’t forget that National Elections are on the horizon. I must be seen by my people as compassionate and caring. Which means I need to travel to these intolerable publicity events, no matter how worthless they may seem.

Titley: I get it.

Gorebl: Now where is my burrito?!

::A steward hastily brings a steaming bean burrito to the Prime Minister::

Gorebl: That is all Titley…. Oh, and tell Nina to get in contact with this Arnold character and arrange a meeting. I want to see if he is the @$$ they say he is.

Titley: YO-HO!

::Prime Minister Arnold's personal diary entry for Monday, August 1st::

The day started out wonderfully. As leaders from all over the world gathered at our Capital Building, I got to chatting with many future allies. We then moved on to take a tour of our fair city. A lot of time and effort has gone into making our capital city look and feel like a utopia. Only the greatest architects were hired and you get a sense that you're walking down the streets of Rome. We also got to see some military training just outside the city and explained in brief how our new military system is set up. The only thing I regret to say about the day is my head miltary general was not in attendance. That is not like him. A search team has been sent out to find out where he is. Hopefully nothing bad has happened to him, he's also a dear friend of mine.

::End of entry::
