An explanation for my absence (OOC)

I don’t know if any of you have noticed, but I have not been on much lately. This is not, as some people would believe, a result of my utter laziness. It is, instead, created by a computer problem I have experienced, and will now go into detail about.

On Thursday, I left home for a short time while my parents were at a family friends. My sister was left alone with both computers. When I returned home, she came to and said that the gaming machine was broken. Now, I didn’t get very worried about this, as she often comes to me saying that it’s broken, and most times it is just in sleep mode, or she accidentally logged off of something. This time was different.

After about 30 minutes of frantic work (the gaming machine is pretty much the center of my life), I admitted defeat and called my father. He rushed home (its also central in his life. And my sisters. Not in my moms, because she has a separate one).

He was also unable to repair our beloved computer after about 11 hours of solid tinkering, so we called in the geeks. We sent the hard drive (which, my dad figured out, was the source of the problem) back to the place we purchased it from. The guy said it was bad.

We left the hard drive there over the weekend, and he is still trying to recover our data. He says it is quite a lot of trouble, because we have over 90 gigs of information on that chip. Until he is able to retrieve the proverbial gold, I do not have access to any MSword documents, songs, emails, games, saved files of any kind, all information on nationstates, or any other important things.

If the info is not retrieved, I will abandon Einhauser, as it took me over 5 months to create the vast network of documents that support this nation. If it does fall, I will create a separate thread announcing the destruction and birth of my new nation.

Anyway, that the reason I have not been on. Just wanted to make sure you guys didn’t hate me for not being around :(

Damn. As much as I wanted to wail on you for being lazy, I guess I have no choice but to buy this story... :(

:p Just kidding.

I hope you get that machine working! I understand the kind of position you're in as well. My computer had to have the whole hard drive reformatted at least 20 times before we finally got things going right... @_@

Ok, great, this sucks. Turns out there is at least 100 malicious virus' embeded in my hard drive, and the tech guy says its the worst case he has ever seen. How the hell could this get any worse!?

Good to hear.

How did you get 100 malicious viruses on it in the first place? I suggest you use Avast! anti-virus.

Great to have you back Einhauser! I'm glad you defeated the viruses...what kind of sad-act actually makes those anyway?

We are not quite sure, but we are guessing it may be either one of the jokes sites I visit daily (www.funnypart.com) or one of my sisters MANY sims-related websites. I doubt it is the funny one, because ive been using it for about a year, and all it does is give me one pop-up.

Plus, my sister says she was currently on a sims-site when the problem occured, so...

Its great to be back! I just hope I have enough time to belt out the rest of the stuff I need to do for my civil war before the date rolls around. I lost a lot of time!

Heh that is rather suspicious isn't it. Avast! has a rather loud siren go off when it blocks suspicious code from a site, if yoou continue to go to the suspect sites I'd suggest using it. It's free for home use too :)

Ok, I didnt talk about what happened after we got the computer yet, as I saw it as minor at best. Now, however, I know better.

The day after we got it back we discovered that there were still viruses on it. In fact, we figured out that the techie had given up on us. If that was not bad enough, it was so slow yesterday that I couldnt browse the net, write, or even listen to songs. Now, this morning, our $900 22' flatscreen monitor broke. Im using an old 17' screen right now, and let me tell you, it sucks.
