5 Novgovan and Kublinovan soldiers pose for a picture– Ministry of Defense

Novgovan State Police Civilian Division – Ministry of Defense
The Novgovan State Police is the national police force of Novgova, established in 1972. The Novgovan State Police provides service to virtually all of Novgova, excluding the capital, Port Smolensk, or Prague. The civilian branch trains alongside the National Guard branch in many training scenarios and are thus qualified to respond to most situations. The civilian branch’s jobs include policing the nation’s ports, skies, highways, towns, protect from riots and other internal disruptions, and provide a second-line defense in case of invasion.

CIB Agents - Ministry of Defense
The CIB (Criminal Investigations Bureau) is a highly specialized and elite branch of the State Police dealing with organized crime and gangs, wanted felons and criminals, prison escapees, terrorists, hostage situations, international criminals, serious fraud, and government corruption. The CIB is the equivalent of any internal security bureau, such as the United States of America’s FBI. Though pictured above as in uniform, CIB agents can also operate as plainclothes agents when the situation warrants.

Secret Police -Ministry of Defense
The Secret Police is an elite police force headed by the CIB, Presidential Security, and OIB (Overseas Intelligence Bureau). Its responsibility deals with direct threats to the Parliament and President, Counterterrorist operations, and classified assignments based on current situations. Not much else is known publicly about the Secret Police. Though members are picture above in leather jackets and a GAZ 24, the Secret Police is mostly plainclothes and can be with a variety of automobiles to better fit in with the general populace.

Novgovan State Police National Guard with Ural -Ministry of Defense
The Novgovan State Police’s military branch, the National Guard, is the primary land military power of Novgova. Since Novgova has traditionally been defensive, and more likely to be engaged in defensive operations, the National Guard stands as the main army, though it is becoming more versatile and more capable of holding the offensive. National Guard members, being part of the State Police, are trained in basic law enforcement procedures, and could therefore be used as law enforcement in a pinch. The National Guard, being connected to the State Police is not considered to be military but rather law enforcement, and thus can operate in many places of the world, without the restrains of more traditional armies under international law. These men are armed with the Vz. 58 assault rifles, the standard assault rifle of the National Guard, and are available in massive stockpiles.

The National Guard mechanized divisions provide the main mechanized force for the National Guard, be it tanks or IFVs. The National Guard Mechanized Troopers are a special force of the National Guard that can provide a quick mobile force to plug in gaps while on the defensive, or to be the metal spearhead when on the offensive.

The “Black Widow” Unit is an elite tank unit of the Novgovan Army, not National Guard, though they are stationed on a National Guard base. The Black Unit has yet to lose a man in any conflict and their qualities as crews for tanks are unmatched.

2 Novgovan Army soldiers in front of Zil-131 army truck -Ministry of Defense
The Novgovan Army is the “army” of Novgova. This “army” is much smaller than even tiny countries: 10,000 active soldiers. However, the Novgovan Army is an elite army; so elite that it is the most competitive and hardest army to get into in the whole world. With an education system, media, and society that encourages and honors the Novgovan Army, it is no surprise that many want to be in the Novgovan Army. With over 3 billion people in the country, it is understandably very competitive and the Novgovan Army consists of the best of the best of the best, with the brightest soldiers, strongest soldiers, and toughest soldiers. They are paid comparatively well to other nations, with the average salary at $104,100 Novgovan rubles and the median at $115,000 Novgovan Rubles.
The soldiers pictured above have only some of the many types of equipment available. Their weapons pictured are the Vz. 58 and PKM but they use a variety of weapons to their choosing from American M4s, to Russian AN-94 Abakans.

The Novgovan soldiers pride themselves and they should! They are the best in the world. Here, they are standing in front of a Ural troop-carrying truck, one of the many means of transportation they use. During the exercise, they used mostly conventional, standard military equipment. During wartime however, they use top secret military equipment and state-of-the-art equipment, which cannot be disclosed at this time.

Naval Infantry Squad with BMP -Ministry of Defense
Naval Infantry in Novgova are the equivalent of the Marines in the United States. They are seen as a tougher alternative to the National Guard, and usually see more active combat as well. They are the main amphibious assault force and are many times the first wave of attack.

Naval Infantry Squad on training beach -Ministry of Defense
The Naval Infantry’s history goes back to around 1946, during the downsizing of the military following the World War. The Navy, feeling its belt tighten, noticed that the defense budget was going to the pride of Novgova’s military, the army. Seeing the opportunity, the Navy created the Naval Infantry in an attempt to get more funds. The idea worked, and became the first “army” of Novgova, being a more serious competitor than the National Guard, but not as elitist as the Army.

The Naval Infantry are often the first responders to a world conflict and hence they need the equipment to get there. Naval Infantry are often seen with the M16A4 or AK103, but for the exercise they are using the Vz. 58. They are standing behind a BTR-60, whose cousin, the BTR-90, sees active service today. In the background is an LST, one of the many ships that get the Naval Infantry’s supplies where they need to go, although, aircraft play a more predominant role in transportation.

The Novgovan Air Cavalry was the Air Force’s response to the Naval Infantry, having the same idea in mind: helping to preserve funds in their branch. Novgovan Air Cavalry specialize in helicopter operations and provide fast, mobile infantry via helicopter to get the job done. These soldiers are in the middle of one of the many exercises during the trials.

Kublinovan soldier on guard duty -Ministry of Defense
Kublinova, is one of the protectorates or colonies of Novgova that include Novarsk Island, the Principality of Daca and Lebeny, and Mirov. Unlike Novgova, Kublinova does have a standard army, and hence they are often one of the first waves of attack, followed by Novgova’s National Guard. Kublinovan troops usually use the FN FAL, however, during the exercise they use the ubiquitous AK-74 assault rifle. In September of 2005, the Kublinovan army will switch to the Steyr AUG assault rifle.

I tried. It came out a bit dark, a bit big, and otherwise not to perfection but it came from a PC game. Now if you could guess the PC game...
