A War of Armor (Closed RP)

This is a closed RP between Feindseligkeit and myself to get Feindseligkeit started. This war has no bearing on anything whatsoever.
Feindseligkeit will now make with the backstory
Feindseligkeit

Great People of Feindseligkeit I, Heinrich Oppenheimer, have tidings that promise to revitalize our aging industry. The element Palladium, a most rare and expensive material, has been found within our borders. The deposit found days ago has been estimated to be the largest ever recorded in the Nine, and shall be the envy of all our neighbors for now Feindseligkeit, the nation eclipsed in the shadow of much larger nations has finally found the means to compete, the means to achieve our destiny as the jewel of the Nine. My brothers, this proud and glorious day shall be remembered throughout the ages, as the start of Feindseligkeit's accendancy, the day we rose out of obscurity and became a major power.

But my friends, I have not come here to only bring glad tidings and hope to ourlong sufferring people. For while Feindseligkeit may indeed triumph in the end, reaping the benefits of this boon and others that will come in time; it will be a hard struggle. For as this great discovery may grant us respect and properity, it may also begin a horrible chapter in our nations history. For it is well known that the Nine is not a region of peace, tied together with treaties and alliances, but a hotbed of agression and war. If our ambassadors cannot convince our neighbors to embrace our coming prosperity with open arms, we most certainly face war. As such, all must ready in case the worst may happen, if Feindseligkeit is once again plunged into hell.

Looking over the report that had been filed away months ago, General Glenseby looked up as the Mondothian Chief of Mission for Feindseligkeit walked in.
"Sir?"
"Ah, John, please sit down. Are you familliar with the 'Paladin' armor scheme proposal?"
"No sir, can't say that I am."
"It was considered a few month's ago but was ultimately rejected because of budget complications."
"Budget complications?" asked the CoM, confused, Mondoth dropped a non trivial amount of GDP into its Defense budget, for something to be discarded due to expense was very rare.
"Yes, one of the alloys necesary for the scheme requires some fairly rare elements, we mine most of them ourselves and they're used for various industrial alloys and materials. But one of the elements of this alloy has proven extremely difficult to find. Can you guess what it is."
"No sir, I can't even begin to imagine."
"Think about recent events a little, why would we be having this conversation about a very rare element right now?"
"Is it... Palladium sir?"
"Yes very good, now you know Feindseligkeit has recently found an appreciable supply of palladium and this armor is something we were very reluctant to let go of, the increase in combat effectiveness and survivability is considerable. Enough that our Infantry Fighting Vehicles could stand a fighting chance against more than a few nations Main Battle Tanks in terms of armor strength without a net increase in weight, and that is something to be sought after."
"And?"
"And I want to make it perfectly clear for you, we will gain access to Feindseligkeit's Palladium deposit, whether or not any lives are lost in the process is your responsibility."
"I understand completely."
"Good." The general said decisively, making it perfectly clear that John was to leave the generals office immediately. The ball was now rolling, the chances Feindseligkeit would give Mondoth favorable trading agreements was slim, the nations had not been completely friendly with each other in the past and a discovery with such obvious strategic implications would not lightly be given to a not quite enemy.

"Now Mr. Strakes, will you please be seated. We've made a decision on your generous offer."
"Will you sell Mondoth 65% of your recent Palladium discovery at the price we discussed?"
"Actually, no, we won't be selling you any of it no matter what price you offer."
"Why have you decided upon such a rash course of action?"
"While your offer is over the market price, we have to ask what we stand to gain from your acquisition of our resources. While on the surface your overtures may seem peaceful, we are hesitant to grant you this find for fear that we are supplying the means of our own destruction. So we have already sold what we expect to mine to another nation, one with a history less clouded with war and the blood of its neighbors."
"As you wish minister, but I doubt you'll find my government's reaction to your liking."

As the rather dapper ambassador from Mondoth made his way out, Mr. Jordan had to wonder whether he had really saved Feindseligkeit, or made its destruction occur that much sooner.

As soon as he left the negotiating table, Strakes was on his SCTU to Mondoth City
"They're unwilling to deal... unsure of our intentions and they have another buyer. Wouldnt even consider it. I knwo sir but if they won't listen we can talk the whole DIplomatic corps till they're blue in the face and get nothing done like this... You know my feelings on that, Yessir"

Less than an hour later A sealed envelope was on the desk of the Feindseligkeit Border Theater Commander, an hour after that the orders were on the desks of every officer in the theater.

::Orders Of Mobilisation::
To: All Feindseligkeit Border Comanders
Expect declaration of hostilities in 24 hours, All units must be ready for immediate mobilisation in force in 72 hours
<Time Stamp>

Upon recieving the notification, orders went out frantically, Vehicles were inspected, repaired and loaded, soldiers were issued battle gear and combat loads, Logistics squadrons scrambled to keep up with the demands of the next two days, setting the goal to have everything ready a day eaarly and knowing it wasn't possible, the troops would be ready to go in three days but just barely. Rations were shipped to the border troops along with ammunition and reinforcements. By the next day things were obviously under way, armored Cavalry squadrons were maneuvering as were Infantry troops while Helicopters and Strike planes were still going through final combat readiness checks. Rations and Ammunition were still being shipped forward with spare parts and equipment but it wouldn't be long before Mondothian troops were swarming over the Feindseligkeit border.

Near the Border of Feindseligkeit, 1/2 mile from Mondothian Airspace

"Recond flight 0079 please turn to heading 157 and report on Mondothian activity, over."
"Base this is Captain Smithe, there seems to be an unusual ammount of activity at the base, they seem to be gearing up for something big, possibly an excercise, over."
"0079, once your camera pod runs out of film return to base for debriefing."

Feindseligkeit Command Bunker, deep under the Presidential Palace.

"Sir the reports keep rolling in, satellite imaging, our observation posts, the recon flights, they all report the same thing."
"And what would that be General Tanner?"
"The Army of Mondoth has gone on high alert in every base within striking distance or a few days from the border. The scale of he buildup is way too large to be an excercise sir, they're coming for the palladium."
"Distribute orders to all of the divisions. All leave is cancelled, they're gong to strike fast. We can't afford to let them into the heart of Feindseligkeit, collateral damage will be too great for our nation to recover on its own. General Motti will know what needs to be done."
"Yes sir, what are we going to tell the civilians?"
"No use keeping it quiet, for once the civil defense corps may come in handy. Get the reservists to man air defenses and start recruiting for truck drivers, cargo loaders, anything that can help the war effort. We're going to need everything Feindseligkeit has to keep from being crushed in the next few weeks."

Department of Defense General Order:

All leave is hereby cancelled. All forces are now on readiness level 4. An incursion across the border with Mondoth is expected within the week. All civil defense reservists are now considered active members of the Feindseligkeit Military Command and are ordered to follow the orders of their respective commanders.

Orders to all Field Commanders

All border commanders must delay the fascist agressors at the border, they must be held within 30 miles of the border if at all possible. Forces are being redirected to reinforce your positions, but heavier divisions will take some time to reach the front. Guard and Civil Defense units will be able to assist you, but they will not be as fully equipped or as experienced as active units. May God be with you, and all of Feindseligkeit.

<Feindseligkeit High Command>

All over the nation cargo flights were grounded, planes appropriated to move medium and light forces to the front as rapidly as possile. Heavy armor and support vehicles boarded military transports headed for the eastern border, with infantry close behind. Airline ssuddenly found their eastbound flights totally taken by young men in camouflage, carrying all their gear along with them. Border encampments found themselves mere miles away from one of the most battle tested armies in the Nine as they took mass and signed their wills. The days ahead were to be complete hell, but they were oddly comfortable with their burden, having prepared for years to defend against their eastern brethrem.

Orders for the 6th Armoured Cavalry Division

*************************************
Initiate Operation Stahlregen Immediately. Exploit any gains achieved unless doing so shall exceed acceptable losses.

*************************************

The 4 regiments of the 6th Armoured Cavalry Division roared to life and started their northeastern push. Fennek scout vehicles and scout helicopters guided them to their objective; with luck they would catch their foes unawares. Several kilometers out from the enemy division, the 2 of the RH-78 Geist helicopters waited for the enemy armoured formation to halt, waiting undetected for the chance to relay GPS coordinates to the awaiting batteries.

+++++++

25 Miles Away within the borders of Feindseligkeit

The 24 MLRS launchers of the 16 and 74th regiments finally received their coordinates, adjusting their launchers to fire immediately upon command. They had two orders, upon receiving word they were to fire their 2 ATACMS missiles loaded with 14 BAT sub-munitions and then quickly move to avoid counter battery fire.

+++++++

Arrayed near them were 32 M155A2 Crusader Self-Propelled Artillery pieces, attached to 6 M490 Artillery command vehicles. In the event that Mondothian artillery was fired to answer the Rocket Barrage, they were to fire a burst of ten rounds at each position and rapidly scoot to catch up with the rest of the formation, which was rapidly closing to engagement distance.

+++++++

Roughly 4 miles from their sister regiments, the rest of the 6th Armoured Cavalry Division prepared to rapidly close with the enemy formation to capitalize upon the damage inflicted by their initial barrage. But their artillery would not be joining them, instead staying behind to ripple fire 288 M26 rockets into the enemy, set to impact 5 minutes before the division was expected to meet forward elements of the Mondothian army. The cloud of 185472 sub-munitions would weaken the enemy considerably.

The AF-39 ‘Panther’ CAS aircraft roared to life, their massive turbofans producing thousands of pounds of thrust pushing them towards the end of the runway, accelerating to hundreds of miles an hour in only a few hundred meters. The SF-37 fighter-bombers had taken off minutes earlier and were already streaking towards the enemy formations armed with ground following mmw radar, JSOWs. The aircraft roared in low above the rolling plains, popping up several miles short to deploy the long range Air to Ground munitions before arcing back to base. The weapons would glide in to the target areas and deploy many submunitions. The submunitions were all networked wirelessly together and used IR to target the heat sources of armored vehicle engines and exhaust. The wireless network increased targeting resolution and insured that no two munitions would target the same vehicle. When above its designated target each submunition would fire an explosively formed penetrator at the vulnerable tops of enemy armored vehicles. Following the raid by SF-37’s, the Panthers would take the scene, dropping anti armor clusters and firing with both 30mm and 20mm cannons to mop up enemy armor in the area. The air strike might not have been in time to prevent the first massive artillery barrage against the advancing 44th cavalry regiment but it almost certainly precluded a second attack.

Back on the ground the 44th cavalry regiment took devastating losses from the initial bombardment. Several platoons simply ceased to exist and almost no unit went without losses. Dismounted infantry scouts were almost universally killed by the initial barrage and many IFV’s were disabled until a repair force could make it to the front lines. The surviving mobile units immediately dashed, the MLRS battery engaged in counter battery fire, laying down hundreds of submunitions in only a few minutes and moving almost as soon as the last ATACMS had left its tube.
The armored vehicles that had escaped the barrage set out for the southern flank of the enemy formation leaving an Anti Air formatted Gorilla and a pair of RAH-71 helicopters to harass the enemy recon ‘copters that the Regimental commander strongly suspected had targeted the attack. The remaining RAH-71’s were ordered to engage in a little recon themselves, flying low with their LCD camouflage systems active the helicopters flew in the direction of the enemy force and using mast mounted sensor packages attempted to survey the size and disposition of whatever was left after the air attack and counter battery fire.

10 Miles ahead of the artilery positions 12 small vehicles broke from each regiment broke off, ready to meat any flankers or aircraft that threatened the precious MLRS artillery pieces. They recieved word from the artillery comand posts that 12 low flying high speed aircraft were heading directly through their path.

They waited, running on battery power so their IR signature would be diminished, weapon locks off, each vehicle ready with a stinger and 4 rds of HE in the autoloader. The CAS flight rose, but the tanks were too late. They're SSMs had already been launched, and the MLRS launchers were certainly dead, but the planes would pay dearly for their mission.

A collective feeling of dread rose up from the pilots, when immediately after firing their screens registered 48 seperate fire control radars, 48 separate SAMs streaking up from below. Each man recognized his chances of living, but began evasive maneuevrs anyway, hoping that god stood behind them as they attempted to survive the surprise attack.

**********************

"Artillery Batteries 4-8, do not engage the enemy, abandon your current positions under battery power."

The fire control radars suddenly reigstered the signature of multiple missiles continuing past the line of M18s, the realization of what could happen hit every man with terror and panic.

"Holy shit, everyone run!"

The crusaders scatterred, the 40 ton beats eerily silent as they hastily retreated from their doomed brothers for their was no way to mask the enormous heat built up in the rocket carriers so soon after a barrage.

Southeast of Sisu, on the border with Mondoth

"Men, we're going to have to push hard and fast north to suppor the 6th Armoured Cav, if any of the other Mondoth divisions get to combat readiness before the forces at Ft. Mannerheim are ready, the 6th Cav is done. WHile these two regiments may seem rather insgnificant when arayed against 5 divisions, if we run at full speed we can cover the next 150km in a few hours and be ready to lend a hand. We should have air support, but don't count on it, the flyboys will be too busy keeping the 6th from getting torn to pieces. You know the battle plan, you've got the training, so get to your vehicles and head out."
"Sir Yes, Sir"

And suddenly the forgotten front became much more important.
