Nightmares, Acigoo, Phalanix, and you

OCC: Ok ground rules. If you even think about nuking Phalanix expect five fold the attack back to you. Also the biggest yeild to be used can only be 1 MT. AND IT MUST BE RPED PROPERLY OR IT WILL BE IGNORED. If you even try and land in Phalanix without authorization expect heavy military resistance. If you enter orbit without authorization expect heavy resistance. Only close alliies like ViZion just have to say where they are going to land and they are basicly greeted with open arms. And if you arn't one of those allies expect a very hosstile military force that wants to place their boots in your asses. Also you have only TWO WARNINGS then you are asked to leave the thread.

IC:
Items 0985 and 1005 in the Council Vault were possibly the largest threats ever. Though 0985 was possibly the only true global threat. Only fifty or so years before it nearly used humanity as a fuel to slowly consume and evolve the world into its next era of life. Fortunatly for humanity it failed and with an ally assisting them each step of the way they defeated it. However two greedy nations secretly aquired it before it was all suposedly sent into a black hole. Those nations were Eqypstan and shockingly Phalanix.
Egyptstan threatned the world and sparked the second acigoo war. They were brutaly crushed and no longer pose a threat.
Phalanix one the other hand was possibly the most unlikely nation to subcome to greed of this scale. The lure of power from acigoo was too great and they lusted for it. A small vile of it was stored for almost fifty years in a space-based enviroment where in the Council Vault it was kept untouched by human hands for five decades.
Item 1005 however had also threatened Phalanix but on a different scale. The sick creation of the council in its early days it caused insanity and only one week later the victim burst into flames and the ashes spred the virus further. The Black Phoenix virus was the perfect killer in a highly populated area. However it had only slight effects on those with demon blood bring out their demonic sides. It to however was defeated.
Now almost fifty years after acigoo first was encountered and thirty after the Black Phoenix took thousands of lives the time would come for them both to se the light of day once more.

Paladin City Slums, Paladin, Phalanix
Agent Nox set the breifcase, he had been assigned to bring to the slums, down on the filthy ground. He opened it up and inside there were two sections. He opened the second section and inside a small vial with black sludge was in it. He smirked as he opened the second section and a grey blob the size of a large coin fell to the case’s bottom. He picked up the vial of black sludge and tossed it into the grey stuff then began to run as fast as he legs could carry him towards a waiting transport that was removing all council agents from the slums.

Albert had been down on his luck for some time since the sudden economic boom had occurred. He never had much luck with money and as a result he was homelss, smelled horrible, and couldn’t get a job. He sat down in his box when he noticed a grey case only a meter away. As he walked over he saw a grey blob absorbing a vial of black sludge. Before he could say anything the black and the grey began to mix. He suddenly began to cough and strugged to breathe as he began to try to make it to the streets to see if anyone would help him.

“What the hell is wrong with him?” a doctor asked as he ran over to the ambulance that had brought Albert in.
“Dunno. It ressembles somekind of high fever that hasn’t stopped going up. However his vital functions aren’t shutting down. He also has several hundred sores appearing on his body several have popped and spewed out a greyish black acidic liquid. It maanged to eat a nice sized hole in the bottom of the wagon,” the paramedic said before suddenly yelping in pain as another sore burst and the fluid spewed all over his arm and began to eat at it turning the normaly pink flesh a sickly black. Even as others rushed to his aid by pouring wate ron the fluid the necrosis and mutation of his body continued untill only five minutes later he was a writhing blob on the floor making hauntingly sickening sounds of pain and distorted words crying out for death could be heard.
“What the fuck!?!” the doctor exclaimed before jumping back away from Albert’s writhing body, “Alert the BCP that we have a situation!”

One hour later
Thirty different people equiped in self-contained powered armor armed with rifles were stationed around the hospital. The word had already leaked to the media and a swarm had set themselves up around the barracades. Word had begun to lead out and words that would trigger the true media storm.

The council decided to speed things up abit. Suitcase nukes were very useful for this. In the slums the orginal vial had grown into atleast a puddel twenty meters across but when the bomber walked towards it his body not in his own controll but under the influence of council agents. As the bomb erxploded the puddel expanded tenfold encompasing buildings and starting to spawn things that not even hell would welcome.

The end had begun once again. The things of nightmares had awaken once again and were set free…

PNN News Urgent Update - Acigoo and nukes in hit Phalanix!

- Only three hours ago after the the central slums were almost fully vaporized by a tactical breifcase nuke. However after the radiological levels have dropped to safe levels we are still not able to get comments or even a view into the area.
In the same kind of news a biological disaster has hit the Phalanix Eastern Hospital and the area has been locked down.
No press release has been given by the Military Council at this time.
We'll be keeping you up to date as the issue progresses.

Paladin Nuclear Attack Zone
The acigoo had grown blacker as the creatures that slowly began to wade out were blown away by portable railguns. They had the media kept far enough away to avoid the hearing the rounds being fired.
So far it was under controll.

Paladin City Bio Hazzard
The area had been sealed off and a one km zone where no protected perosnel were permited.
In side however a acigoo pool was slowly growing from the two infected men.
"Have you taken the blood sample from victim 0 yet?" a armored man asked another.
"Yes. The makers are reading from the Black Phoenix virus as well as some from that guy who was mutated with acigoo."
"Great...."

Imperial Palace, Crossmanus Prime -

Emperor Crossman glared at the viewscreen on the wall across from his desk showing reports of a nuclear blast and viral outbreak in Phalanix.

Secretary of State, Lord Azrael von Dracwald stood next to the Emperor's desk. "My Lord, what should we do? Are we to attack? The news isn't saying acigoo, but we know thats what it really is."

Crossman thought for a second then shook his head, "Not yet. Not until we can confirm who made the attack and most importantly who unleashed the acigoo. Until then, raise our alert level and send a message to our forces on Earth. I want them to prepare for a possible evacuation of our citizens there. I know Crossmanian blood will be spilt soon, I'd rather it be soldiers blood only."

"At once your Excellency."

PNN Update - Council Statement Finaly!

~ Just recently the Military Council has decided to produce a statement on the events occuring in Phalanix.

The dasterdly attacks that you are hearing about are the works of rebel cells in Phalanix. The rebels are called the AE (Advanced Elites) and have every intention of butchering every single pro-government soul in Phalanix even if it means obliterating the our cradel that they to sprung up from.

Green Sun: Your force is suggested to move in via the southern port. From there we will help transfer them to the hot zone. However this isn't like the past inccidents. So be ready.

A press release from ViZion was finally readied and sent out to be read to the media.

A tall, bald, and husky man whose skin was almost as black as his Armami tux he wore began to read aloud after the crowd of media calmed down.

"We, the people of ViZion, wish to first offer our condolences to the people of Phalanix. We are currently preparing a special team to go in and see what we can do to stop the spread of this.

"We also wish to stress that we believe this is exactly what we were worried of - some kind of deformed Acigoo, this so called "biological" issue they are having. We fear the council is behind this, and we will be doing what we can to determine if the council is behind this or not.

That is it for now, thank you." he finished up, and before the crowd of reporters could even jump out of their seats, he was turned around. No other comments would be issued for the time being.

Phalanix
19-07-2005, 19:49
OCC: This is Multi-Tech. So FT, MT, PMT, and god knows what else is aloud.

Also some info on the new acigoo. And of course this post means actions directly involving the acigoo are permited again. Jsut wanted to get this out of the way so you knew what to do, what it looked like, what the creatures it spawned were like, and finaly the added effects.

The new stuff is a mix of the Black Phoenix virus that once ravaged Phalanix. The virus would infect the host then elivate their internal temp to a unatural high, induce a blood lust insanity, and finaly one week after infection the burst into flames and the ashes spred the virus.
Now with these new qualities (the acigoo that was mutated was a orginal strain) the acigoo has black shades in it like spots and the creatures at to say the least things Hell would turn back out of fear.
A new twist is that the creatures are capable of infecting other beings with that virus the homeless man (Albert) suffered from by biting/stinging them and so on.

{OOC: This takes place a few years after Phalanix meets Koprulu Colonies and give up tech and such, or so I'm led to believe.}

Samuel Pavlov reviewed the dozen screen in front of him. It was a simple check of ship systems and the sector they were currently in. He was a 'Grand Admiral' of the Koprulu Confederate Space Forces, Bronze Fleet. Pavlov sighed, another boring day in the void of space. Nothing exiciting had occured in the Koprulu Colonies since the meeting of several alien races including Phalanix, the Terran Dominion, and others. Though that was a few years ago, when Pavlov was patrolling the inner worlds of the Confederacy.

"Admiral, we have a holo transmission from Koprulu," stated a comm officer.

"Koprulu?" exclaimed Pavlov in surprise, "Patch it threw."

A small hologram pad next to Pavlov suddenly lit up and a transparant man appeared. It was Adrian Broughton, President of the Confederacy of Koprulu Colonies. Pavlov quickly grave a salute.

"Sir, what can I do for you?" he asked.

"Watch," stated Adrian.

Pavlov looked behind him, as one of his screen went into static for a moment until another image appeared on the screen, it was a media message. A few other screens changed to similar things, but different media outlets. Pavlov watched each of them for a few minutes, from what he was hearing Phalanix had a severe biological situtation, not to mention the fact that a nuclear weapon had gone off in their capital city.

"Thats the situtaiton in overview," stated Adrian.

Though before Pavlov turned around, all the screen went to static and then reappeared to the ViZion Media response to the situation. Pavlov listened in as they spoke about a biological situation involving an "acigoo".

"Acigoo is something new to us, though from what we have gathered from various sources, this acigoo is very dangerious," stated Adrian.

"Prehaps, but why is this our concern? Phalanix can handle the biological situation on their own," stated Pavlov.

"Acigoo almost consumed Phalanix the last time it got free. From what we can gather it uses humans as fuel," stated Adrian.

"I see...so what can we do?" asked Pavlov.

"You're orders are clear. Move Bronze Fleet to where this is occuring and ask Phalanix if we can assist in anyway," stated Adrian.

"Yes, sir!" exclaimed Pavlov.

With that order, Bronze Fleet made its way towards the situtation.

Phalanix Orbital Command Station (POCS) aka PSN-S Earned in Blood
The POCS was extremly busy as of late. Thanks to the council orders all inbound ships were to be searched from stem to stern and then only diplomatic shuttles wer epermited and they were only aloud in the city of Ghost where military officals were to only permit the closest of allies into Paladin with no escorts.
It had been long day thanks to the crew being forced to pull 20 hours shifts when a new formation appeared on the inbound list tagged KC-BF Type-Unknown. The opperator that got this inbound formation quickly began to foreward a message requesting clearence.
The message was simple.

Paladin, Acigoo Lake

The Demon's were getting restless. Six hour shifts of shooting things popping out of the lake with railgun slugs can get boring fast.
"Hey when is that shift change coming?" one of them asked his partner as he fired another supersonic KE projectile into a forming creature's head blowing it apart in all it's glory.
"I think in the next few minutes," his counterpart replied as he fired another into one of the creatures, "Hey cover me I gotta reload and swap barrels."
"Ya you got it," the Demon replied as he began to shoot another one and swore this was almsot like that game he used to play as a kid, wack-a-mole, except with railguns and homicidal creatures of doom.
As the other finished reloading a smaller creature sprung forth form the lake and onto the reloading Demon's helmet and began to tare at it untill a sickly sopping wet sound eminated from the two.
"FUCK!!" the other excleimaed as he fired the railgun at his partners head putting him out of his missery as the thing nawed at his head. "We ahve a code red I repeate we ahve a code red! GET SOME FUCKING RENFORCEMENTS DOWN HERE NOW!!!" he practicly screamed into his helmet's com-system before he saw more beasts rising up then before attempting to strike him down. He fired wildly as troopers ran towards his location only to see a Demon with his upper body basicly blown off and sprayed across several meters while his partner was fighting for his life. As they started firing the swarm of beasts began to slip out through the troopers alley way towards the media groups.

OCC: Ok anyone want to have a news team, jornalist(SP), or reporter around this blockade feel free becasue hey getting this stuff shown publicly will realy help scare the hell outa people. And remember these things look like beasts hell would turn away in fear.

The group were still basic troopers armed with 8mm PX-09 assault rifles when they turned a corner only to encounter a towering beast from hell.
"Oh..my," was all the first one could say before the beast tore him to shreds with it's claws and teeth. The others only took a second to return the favor as they began to open up on the beast backing up down into plain view of the media.
The remaining three troopers that were holding the media back began to shout, "Get back the area has become hostile I repeat the area is now hostile get back or face charges."
By then the ebast flung one of the troopers arms towards the media before it was put down by one of the 10mm grenades fired into it's mouth spraying the area with gore, blood, and god knows what.

The reporters were momentarily frozen with shock and fear. After the body part came flying out though, they flew into action.

Any cameras not turned on were, and aimed at the battle.

“This is channel 5 news, Phalanxian battle in the heart of our land. Massive…”

“AND IF YOU CAN SEE BEHIND ME, THERE IS A FIERCE BATTLE GOING ON! THE GUNFIRE IS GROWIGN LOUDER AS IT GETS CLOSER! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THESE THINGS ARE…”

“The Phalanxian monsters are coming down towards us. And oh, I MEAN, THERE GOES THE FIRE OF GUNS AGAIN!”

Reporters talked to their respective cameras as they tried to get shots of the hideous monsters.

Several men with hand held camera were pushing up against the military men to get better shots. One ducked underneath their arms and moved forward.

CLICK. CLICK. CLICK.

A body flew into him and knocked him back into a smaller crowd of reporters, broken off from the main group. Ash and goo dropped onto him and some onto the others.

“AHHH! IM INFECTED!”

He ran up to one of the soldiers and grabbed his uniform. He started shaking him and yelling in his face with such emotion that spit was flying out.

“SAVE ME! I HAVE A FAMILY! FUCKING HELP ME!”

It was only then that the reporters and media’s natural reactions started to fade away, and they begin to crap their pants in fear.

One man dropped his hand held camera and pissed his pants. He took a couple steps backwards and turned and ran.

Several other cameramen started dropping big cameras as new channels around Phalanix and the world started going to static.

OCC: Hah now that was a smart move to let you do that BE because damn did it turn out wonderful. Now to let the shock set into the world...
IC:
The unlucky souls who had been hit by the infected parts and contracted the infection were quickly and with no remorse were shot. Above troop ships began to drop troopers who fired small rocket devices that created a gel cube that they could land in safely.
((Think FF:Sprits Within, the Deepeyes used it in the begining))
As soon as the gel disipated they were already out and firing into the hord of beasts that were coming forth towards the blockade.
However unlike the other unit thy were equiped with much larger and more powerful XR-65 14.5mm multi-rifles that began to drop the smaller beasts with headshots while the KE rounds fired from the underslung mini-morters began to dispatch the larger ones.
By the time the Elites had arrived the one kilometer area was already a hostile zone where urban combat took on new meaning and new dangers.

Around the pool the small group that had made it there still fought side by side with the Demon's railgun doing the brunt of the dirty work as the trooper's 8mm rounds took care of the smaller beasts. The group had broken down a wall on one fo the buildings and had holed up dropping anything that got to close while waiting for help to arrive.
"Fuck man I knew I should have become a lawyer like my dad told me to," one of the troopers said as he huddeled in a corner trying to calm down.
"Quit bitching and watch the entrance," the Demon replied in turn as he pulled the trigger on his PRG and ti jummped in his hands as the slug tore out of the barrel and into a monster splatering it across the lake.

The ADT (Acigoo Disposal Team), using the new knowlege of the Black Phoenix mixture, landed on the southern port that Phalanix had instructed them to go. To avoid disease and radiation, they were in bio-hazard suits, hoping that may help. They carried a special containment case designed by scientists from the Anti-Acigoo pact. It has yet to be tested with acigoo, but it's the only tech known to contain it without asking a nation from another world for assistance. They were escorted by three Forge Force soldiers to await their escort.

OOC: Yeah, I rule at life. And thanks

IC: As the infected reporters were shot most people dropped everything and took off running. Static flew up on news channels throughout the country and world, only a couple remained.

Several persistent reporters, who had yet to loose the feeling of “oh shit, this story rules”, and some looking to make a break started walking backwards while filming and talking.

Soldiers started pouring out of the sky and the reporters that still remained started running a little faster. As the picture grew too small to be seen the cameramen swung the cameras around to focus on the talking reporters, all the while moving away.

But one of them, wanted a story really badly. His wife had left him, he had been fired from his job at the newspaper the day before, his life was going down the tubes. So Jimmy Henderson had decided to get in on this with his personal camera and get the story. When the majority of the media began to flee he made as if he was being pushed over, and rolled into an apartment building that had been cleared out.

He climbed the stairs and came to a window above the men and battle scene. To his great joy, he had entered a photographers apartment. Cameras and film were all along the wall and throughout the room. He took picture of the battle and some video, with no regard to how much he wasted, because it looked like he didn’t have a limit.

For now no one had seen him and he was getting footage and picture that would land him his life back.

The escort came in the form of four Demon SF's. The jet black armored troopers armed with the most powerful portable weapons avalable. Behind them a troopship waited to deploy the Green Sun forces to the hostile zone.
((OCC: Gona take a liberty here to save posting time))
The Demons quickly lead the ADT member to the ship where inside a PONI officer sat waiting to update the ADT on the current situation.
"Before you get into the hotzone we have to warn you that the beasts that the acigoo has spawned arn't normal. Also we have news that the creatures almost breached the one kilometer hostile zone and that there ahve already been about ten dead or infected and right now Elite's are being deployed from dropships and troopships as we speak and are currently holding the area. The main acigoo lake however is going to be extremly difficult to get to however we have word of a small squad of seven men and one Demon holed up near it so we will have some support. The battle raged to a whole new level as several Elites began to swap from ranged combat to their specialty of hand to hand combat using black plasma blades. Several of the news crews started moving closer to get the ‘movie-like’ footage. The reporters gave dialogue to compliment the video as the cameramen focused entirely on the battle.

Jimmy was getting tons of shots, but the good action was over, now he just had pictures of soldiers running by and monsters moving by. No that wasn’t good, combat, that’s what he needed.

Jimmy grabbed the cameras and film he used and put them in a bag which he then put over his shoulder. Then he grabbed his camera, filled it with fresh film, and walked out of the apartment.

He went into another one and then climbed out the window onto a fire escape. Jimmy put the camera strap over his shoulder and climbed down the ladder. He jumped off and looked around, excellent, he was behind the line of soldiers. Now he could get pictures from behind monster lines…

Jimmy had gotten a few nice shots of Acigoo beasts and combat, now he needed a way to get out and get his stuff printed.

He had been searching for a while and finally a path came in sight. He shot down the alley, the light of freedom growing stronger and stronger. Suddenly, the sweat on his hands took a toll and the camera flew out into a pile of green and black goo.

“Oh shit, my camera’s ruined.”

Jimmy picked it up and wiped the goo off with his hand and shirt. Then blew what was left off.

“All better.”

He continued out and came out into a street which military were clearing out.

“Move back citizen, this area is no longer safe.”

“My pleasure.”

Jimmy walked back and managed to get space on a cramped bus. The bus was taxiing civilians out of the area being cleared out by the military and thus was full of people. Jimmy shoved in and got pushed up against some other people. He reached up and held onto one of the railings. As they started off he coughed a bit and quickly covered his mouth.

“Don’t want to spread germs.”

He grabbed back onto the rail and stared off with the crying of babies and chatter of people filling his head.
--------------------
The bus came to a stop and everyone piled off, they had driven an hour to the center of the city, where everyone lived.

They piled off and Jimmy shot off for his apartment complex. As he rounded the corner his building came into view, and all the stuff on the lawn. All of HIS stuff on the lawn.

“You fucking prick, you haven’t paid your damn rent for the last couple months, your out for good!”

“WAIT!”

Jimmy reached back into his pocket and pulled out his bulging wallet, his time in that apartment complex had more than picture taking. He handed the landlord a huge wad of cash, “That should cover it. Can you have my stuff brought back up?”

“But…how?”

“I’m a very successful reporter, I’m good at my job.”

Jimmy grabbed a lightweight chair and made his way back to the open door of his apartment. He set the chair and the bag down and then put his camera down.

“This is a uh…twice what you need.”

The landlord stood in the doorway as the moving men moved his stuff back in.

“Give me like two months, and keep the rest; I’ll have tons of money soon.”

“Wow, this is…hug me.”

The landlord wobbled over and grabbed Jimmy in a great embrace. “Thank you so much, I’m sorry about the insults.”

“Its fine.”

The soldier smiled at the demon. He felt a bit uncomfortable because of him, but nopt because he didn't look human. He was Shaku Sha'amamee's bodygaurd, as well. Shaku was an alien twice his own size from the future. No, the soldier had a deeper and darker secret for feeling queasy with the demons present. They also have very deep voices with the armor on and tend to lug the heavy weapons in. Think Fallout Tactics power armor in black with the tubes glowing

The lake had grown exponentialy and had spawned more beasts of hell as ground squads fought for their very lives. The tac radio channels had litteraly become garrbled by pleas for help and requests for renforcements that would be answered only be death screams.
The demon's quickly grabbed one of the rockets that were near the troop ships drop door and placed it in the barrel of thier backup XR-50 14mm multi-rifles and fired towards the street and jummped down after the rockets. AS the rockets impacted they formed a green gell cube the the trooeprs landed in and were slowed to the point that they didn't even feel impact.
The PONI officer walked towards the Green SUn forces and handed them each a discardable launch system. "Just aim, shoot, and hope you land in the gel. Also if you don't have a mouth and nose cover I suggest you find one and hold your breath when you impact becasue the gel takes several seconds to disolve and it dosn't mix with your lungs to nicely."

A reply of confirmation was sent to POCS and the Bronze Fleet slowly moved into vector X-568-Alpha. Once there, a man by the name of Arnaud Beauchamp, diplomat to Bronze Fleet, went to the hanger bay. From there they were escorted down to the planet. He hoped this would be a quick discussion as a biological threat could spread to the point where it directly effected the Confederacy.

Once the Phalanix officers were onborad, they were escorted by Marines and Arnaud to a 'Diplomacy' room. Once inside, Arnaud quickly took his seat while a marine stood in the room, his visor down so his face couldn't be seen.

"I apologize for the marine, it is protocol to keep such security in the room during these type of diplomatic meetings," stated Arnaud putting his diplomacy face on.

"Let me first ask you, how bad is the situtation in regards to the acigoo? We've already seen the media outlets pictures, we've seen the creatures and have seen how effective your forces have been in containing them. On this ship we have 15,000 troops, along with an armored divison and about five hundred wraiths. Along with much other equipment. We could help in the containment of this biological situtation," stated Arnaud.

"It's understandable. We have simmilar secutiry measures," the Major General replied, "But the acigoo has developed into something we didn't expect. “Thank you so much sir, I know you’ll be glad to have be back aboard.”

Jimmy stuck out his hand for a handshake and his boss grabbed it and pulled him close.

“Now, I went against my better judgment in letting you back in, but when the other boys saw those pictures, they said I had too. Don’t make me regret my decision.”

“You wont sir, not at all.”

Jimmy turned around and walked out of his boss’s room, a giant smile on his face. He had gotten his job back and he felt like he was on top of the world, he could do anything. And that feeling went to his head.

As he walked out of the studio he looked to his right and saw a large piece of glass covering multiple TV monitors. More than half of them had status or technical difficulty signs up. Some were trying to cover for their loss of the view of the Acgioo threat, but several still had teams at the conflict. A beautiful woman was watching one of the screens and Jimmy held in his breath as he realized it was his wife.

“What am I doing, I’m getting my life back together, I need to get her.”

He walked on over and dropped in his opening line, “I a uh…got my job back. And a huge raise, and my landlord loves me, and my apartment is paid off for a couple more months.”

Teh three Forge Force soldiers lowered their protective visors and raised their rifles, took aim, and fired. All seven of the Green Sun personell landed softly. The four scientists took cover as the battle raged on. When they were given the all-clear sign, they made their way closer and closer to the lake until finally they had made it to a small puddle that had somehow been tracked from the acigoo spawn. One scientist filled up his container and headed back, hoping his conatiner was strong enough. After finding cover and studying the container for a full five minutes, he shouted with glee,
"It works! It works! The containers work! It's holding the Acigoo!"

The Demon's had already begun firing their PRG's into beasts as they slowly began to edge back as the lake squad moved closer helping provide covering fire. One of them stopped by the scientist with the container and spoke, "Well stop jumping for joy and start running. We have to exfil on foot." The demon's had already begun to back away downthe alley blasting at anything that wasn't friendly as well as when needed blowing holes in buildings for safer exits.

In the hospital things had begun to turn from bad to, as any trooper would put it, just fucking horrible. Already all personel not in sealed suits of armor or NBC suits were already infected and mutating. What was once the paramedic that brough in the homeless man was riddeled with bullets and shotgun rounds.
"Alright boys this isn't going to be pleasent," the small squad's commander said outside in the entrance to the hospital, "We have been ordered to move in and clean the hospital from top to bottom of anything that lives. Yes you heard me. The civilians in that building are now hostile. Shoot to kill."
The marines were alittle unerved but grabbed their PX-08 8mm assault rifles and turned off the safeties as they entered the building. They were greated by a slightly infected man who was about to speak when a loud bang was heard and he looked down only to see three holes in his chest before he fell to the ground dead. Only shock from the other infected was the response as some tried to hide while others attempted to talk the marines out of it, some even tried fighting the armored men but only met a worse fate.
But as fate would have it something would go wrong...

Emmitia
23-07-2005, 02:10
In the dark tenement of an Emmitian tenement, late at night, near the wee hours of the morning, a fat, middle-aged man sat in his favorite, yellow (although stained with many various colors) EZ-chair. He wore a disgusting tanktop that was supposed to be white, but was by this time mostly brown with various slob-like stains. A stubby little remote control was in his hand.

At this time of night, most interesting programs were finished. Only corporate-sponsored infomercials or State-sponsered propaganda filled the airwaves, with the exclusion of the rare opera that, somehow, wasn't in this man's taste.

However, tonight, miles away in the nearby reception tower, random signals began to come in. More powerful than the Emmitian TV broadcast signals, they came in clear on the TV receptors. And this one man was the one person in Emmitia to first see it, amazingly enough.

Between the latest inventions in samurai kitchen cutting knives and how much time the Emperor spends with his children, the picture fuzzed with something he didn't see. He distinctly heard a gunshot! Because these were often banned from the cinemas, he turned the channel back. Oh..the samurai knives. Nevermind. Back to State News..

“AND ... YOU CAN SEE BEHI-....., THERE IS A F..RCE BATT..ATTLE GOI.. ON! THE ....... LOUDER AS IT GETS ...SER! I HAVE ... EA WHAT THESE THINGS ARE…”

It was fuzzy, but he could hear the gunshots in the distence. The volume control on the Emmitian televisions was controlled via broadcast, not the televisions themselves, and without such controls, it was blasted to incredibly high volume. The man flew back in his seat a bit. Immediately, all people in the tenements upwards, sideways, diagonally and downwards to him were woken. They knew it was him, the slob! It was mere moments before the sounds of an angry mob came bashing at his door.

"Open up, pig! Some of us have work!"

"Is that an action movie? I'll report you to Civil Protection!"

"Is that gunfire? Is he all right?"

"Call Civil Protection!"

The poor slob of a man: "No, don't call Civil Protection! I'm fine! I'm getting signals!"

"It's a lie! He's tapping into hidden signals! He's a rebel! He's a Red Carnation!"

"Quickly! Get Civil Protection! We'll get a hefty bonus for calling in a Red Carnation!"

It was less than five minutes before the sleek, albeit old and less threatening that it actually let on, APC sped up to the front of the Tenement. It was less than two minutes, still, when the door was bashed in by the heavy boots of the Civil Protection officers. The officers spoke in a hissed, artificial voice.

The sargeant immediately threatened the man, although indirectly: "Citizen! Turn off that television or I'll make sure you can't see it, or anything else!"

The crowd tried desperately to hold in laughs at the terrible threat, though the look of a Civil Protection officer threatening you, or anyone, was never a laughing matter, no matter the bad threat. A nightstick found its way across his cheek. Teeth were loosened, blood was let, and a satisfying CRACK sounded and spittle flew across onto the floor.

"Are you ignoring me, Citizen? I told you to turn off this telelvision!"

One of the Civil Protection offers entered the fray: "Sergeant! It looks like a newscast.."

The sergeant turned his head to look at the television screen, which by this time had gone into a clear view. They saw the battle on the television screen, and the screaming man begging for divine mercy.

“SAVE ME! I HAVE A FAMILY! FUCKING HELP ME!”

Even the sergeant had a tear in his eye. He heard the utter helplessness, the begging in the man's voice. They didn't know what he was saying, they all only spoke Emmitian, but they could hear his desperation.

"What the hell is going on?" whimpered one of the Civil Protection officers. Everyone huddled around the screen, even the Civil Protection officers. They saw the total massacre ensuing, the begging man, over and over again. As it turns out, the broadcasting channel happened to be one of those that callously replayed the same five minute footage ad nauseum. They saw it at least three times, shocked not only by the view of the world outside, but also of the carnage. It almost convinced the Emmitians that their home WAS the safest place. It was free propaganda!

- The Next Day, 0930.
The Emmitian Imperial Senate Building

Minister Veresi stood around the redwood boardroom table, elegantly designed and crafted, surrounded by his advisors. Since the sicknesses of the Emperor, he had become regent, the de-facto dictator of all of Emmitia, including the armies. A TV had been wheeled in, along with a VCR. One of the more enterprising citizens had tape-recorded the footage. Normally, this was tantamount to stealing and would be punished as such, but in this case, he was rewarded for saving this for the Imperial Senate.

The advisors' mouths were agape at the sight. The soldiers battling the monsters, the gunfire in the background. The begging, pleading man. The words weren't needed, only the absolute fear in the sudden end of a lifetime of memories, from childhood to this moment. One of the interns, who understood the broadcast, quipped that it was from a nation called: "Phalanix." The boardroom looked at each other, puzzled. Never hearing of the nation before, they got the intern into the boardroom, to begin to tell them about the nation from which he was descended, but not exactly emmigrated from.

- Two Hours Later, 1130 -

"Do we do anything?" asked one of the advisors, loosening his tie. He still had a deer-in-the-headlights look.

"No, we don't," Veresi, well, came close to an explicit order with that phrase.

"May I say something?" The squirrely, quiet, methodical voice of T.L. Teunion, Scientific Advisor broke into the conversation.

"Say what you want, I've decided," Veresi smilled smugly.

"Very well, but I'll say it still. Look at the picture. Look at their technolo-"

"Ah, a technophile! Go to their country and get some gadgets, and leave us the hell alone about it! We don't care about their technology!"

"No, you don't under-"

"I understand damned well. You look at all the pretty lights and you're mezmerized. Like a damned cat with keys!"

Teunion closed his eyes, grasped the bridge of his nose with two fingers, and looked down to the floor, in utter despair. "No, with all du-"

"Don't talk, for the Emperor's sake!"

A boardman tried to break into the little tussle, if one could call it that, between Teunion and Veresi. He was quickly beaten down.

"Veresi!" He was borderline criminal now, to address the dictator with such a careless tone, "Listen to yourself, you idiot! You're compromising Emmitia's future because you have a problem with technology and advancement! That's why my scientists can't even feed their damned families! That's why anyone who isn't working on military technology isn't a scientist in your eyes! You want to keep everyone down to a level of poverty! Listen to me, or may the Emperor damn you!" He'd crossed the line now, and was likely to be executed. Oddly enough, the normally shy man knew this, and was still on his tangent, his verbal rampage. "If you had an ounce of patriotism in you, you'd see that if we gave this nation some support, we could get technological help from them. We could bring our nation above and beyond anything we'd ever thought we'd see in our lifetime! We'd make Emmitia great! And if that doesn't work, if they don't cooperate, we could just steal it."

Veresi's mouth was wide open. He had no words, not even "Get him away from me!"

He looked down to the table with an almost sad, remorseful face. "Ok, we'll offer help."

Later that day, a message went out to the Phalanixian government:

La ce numesi Pirokajuon: [In the name of the Emperor]

OOC: You liked it? Thanks. :D This'll be my first complete RP, too, so let's hope it all works out well!

The response was returned to the Emmitian Imperial Government very quickly, it seemed. It was almost humorous, as Veresi had not contemplated HOW exactly to steal that technology. The epiphany resulted in the Emmitian version of "Ah, crap" being spouted from Veresi's mouth. In private, of course.

Since the arguement in the private boardroom, Teunion had dissappeared. However, non-military funding had increased, and the scientists were now not being run out of house and home. Well, not as quickly as before. It was still far from optimal operations, but he gave into Teunion's cries of anger in the previous session. The place of Teunion was replaced by an even more spineless man, by the name of Keusteon. Keusteon couldn't convince the janitor to clean the bathroom, much less challenge Veresi's authority.

Suddenly, Veresi was wondering how exactly to approach this problem. The mastermind, Teunion, had "dissappeared" (in actuality, he was driven to the outskirts of the city one night, shot, covered in lyme, and buried) and he himself had no clue. He saw the Emmitian High Marshal, Marshal Nurasi, walking down the hallway, none the wiser as to Veresi's depserate plan.

Veresi darted from his office and came close to tackling Nurasi like a football player. Despite his military position, Nurasi was a thin, scrawny man that was known for his cunning instead of his braun. However, age had hit him hard, and he wasn't as clever as he was in his younger days, where he had gotten the name of "Emmitian Odysseus."

"You! Nurasi!" shouted Veresi as he caught up.

Fear was in Nurasi's eyes. "Yes, Regent?" Since Veresi's appointment, he forced everyone to address him by this.

"How do we steal technology? Quick!"

"Uhhhh..." a puzzled, clueless look glazed over Nurasi's face. "Excuse me?"

"Techonology. Steal. Take away from owner. Make our own use."

Needless to say, this didn't help.

"Please, slow down, Regent, I can't understand. You mean you want me to tell you how to steal someone else's technology so we can reappropriate it to our own use?"

"That's it!"

"Excuse me for my curtness, Regent, but how the hell should I know?" Nurasi became increasingly concerned about the Regent's mental capacities. Non compos mentis doesn't come close to summing it up.

"You're supposed to be cunning."

"I'm also supposed to be old an senile," scowled Nurasi.

"It was politics." Nurasi's rashness came from their longstanding friendship; they were friends since they were six years old.

Nurasi began to walk away, and Veresi followed. "Listen, Auliskander, just say that you're bringing some troops away to search for something. I don't know. Mop up operation. Something like that. And have them search for things left behind. I'll give you..hm..'observation agents' to guide each of the Qanioi [A unit of 100 men in the decimal-based Emmitian organization system]. More especially, I'll set up the Aukion (a unit of 10,000 men) with Julius Manerion."

"Never heard of him."

"Julius Manerion is one of the most brilliant soldiers I have today. Send him there, he'll take care of it."

- The Outskirts of Sece Emmitia, the Imperial Capitol. 1814 hours. -

He was inside the closet, now. The lights were turned out. He thought to light up a cigarette, but decided it was best not to. He was huddled in a corner, behind the sparce amount of clothes. Gloomy beams of light shown in bars over his face and chest. His breathing was heavy and dreadful. A slight sigh came from his mouth.

The door flung open. A woman was standing in front of him, with a plastic bin under her arm.

"Honey, what are you doing in the closet?" the woman said to her husband, Mr. Manerion.

A little girl skipped to the open closet door. "I found you, daddy!"

"No fair, mommy found me!" the grown man smiled in an almost eerie child-like grin. He stood up and picked up his little girl. She giggled, but he placed her down on the ground. "Wash up, it's almost dinnertime."

"I didn't get the job today," his wife said, gloomily. She made sure that their daughter was gone before she said this. "A soldier's salary just isn't enough."

"We'll survive, we have until now. Why would we all of the sudden collapse?" the cheery man smiled and patted his wife on the shoulder. There was a ring at the doorbell.

"Oh! Be right back!" said Julius, and he ran down to the door to check if the mail came. He was waiting for one of his college buddies to send a letter, he was supposed to be able to get him a job in the Imperial Economics Office. He was met by a uniformed man, his chest decorated with medals.

"Marshal Nurasi! It's a surprise, sir. What brings you to my house?"

"You, Julius." the old man smiled weakly.

"Why would you want me?"

"Well, to start with, we need a clever man to command the Aunion we're sending in as support to Phalanix."

"Where in the name of the Emperor is Phalanix?"

Nurasi smiled, and then gave a hoarse chuckle, "That's for the ships' navigators to figure out. I don't know myself!"

"Come in, tell me what's happening."

His wife quietly brought her daughter to her room while Nurasi and Julius talked about the situation, and Julius was given his briefing. How he was to engineer the thievery of technology, all while helping this nation hold back the tide. But, the technology was to be the prime objective. If his troops had to abandon their lookout positions just to get the technology, so be it.

- Five days later, 1200 hours. -

Manerion stood in front of a vast array of troops in one of the largest of the warehouses in the docks. This wasn't the full 10,000 being deployed, but a decent amount of that. All of them were in their battle fatigues, the grays and blues of their urban camoflage helped to mix them into each other and the ground and walls below and around. Their RAU rifles were painted the same color, as were their pouches. Their helmets were covered in an elastic fabric, also colored in the fashion of urban camoflage. A large flak jacket enlarged their waste, but the total lack of shoulder pads created an odd look about the soldiers. While protected by body armor all the same, it was definately not as thick as on the breast and stomach.

"1st Expenditionary Aunion of the Emperor Nicanor Angelicus Victor! Salute!"

The entire crowd snapped to attention. The clap of boots on the concrete echoed throughout the entire warehouse, and even outside to the docks. Thousands of hands were brought to the brow in a salute to their commander, the Pateris [Colonel] Julius Manerion.

"We stand here today ready to embark for the safety of our fellow man. A nation just like our own is in trouble and is combating the forces of evil, the forces in direct opposition to the forces of the Pirokajuon himself. These are the forces which have taken an unholy human form in the Red Carnations! Are we, then, to abandon a friend, a nation just as they are in dire struggle with these forces? No! The Pirokajuon has commanded us to take up the Imperial Banner in an effort to purge these forces in the name of humanity! A victory for the Imperial Armies and their allies will go one step closer to weeding out the vile Red Carnations from our own lands.

We march with the spirit of Severus Augustus, the father of the Empire, inside of us, and the proud soul of Emmitur, the very founder of our glorious nation, inside us as well. What have we to fear from the forces of evil and those which stand arrayed against us? In your left hand is the sword of the Emperor! In your right hand is the sword of the forefathers of the Empire and the Nation! In your beating breast is the heart of an Emmitian! A warrior, a crusader, and even a lover!"

A slight chuckle throughout the room.

"So, we embark these ships today as the strength of the Emperor, to purge the filth out of any lands of humanity, whether it be the posessions of the Emperor or anyone else. Remember that you fight not only for our nation, but for humanity itself. We do not know our enemy, it is true. We do not know if he takes the form of a human. If he is like the Red Carnations. We do not know if he takes the form of a demon. But nothing, from this world or any other, can stop the might of the emperor! Remember that you are his Strength! That you are his Will! That you are the might of the Empire incarnate!

Long live the Emperor!"

A cheer thoughout the room..

Later that day, transport ships carrying ten thousand Emmitian soldiers departed port from Coroceliya, escorted by two cruisers of the Emmitian Imperial Navy. The main support fleet would join them in at least two day's time. Manerion himself was on one of these ships, penning what he had the strangest feeling would be the last letter home to his wife:

"My dearest Adeline,

I gave a speech today, motivating our troops in the spirit of humanity and brotherhood. What a lie! We are entering this country for not the good of humanity, but for ourselves. I'm ashamed beyond words. I never liked to lie, I suppose that's why I never became a politician. And yet, here I am, leading ten thousand boys not old enough to have children or a wife, yet alone enjoy life, to their graves. I don't have a good feeling about this, Addie. I pray that I'm wrong. I can't write any more letters from here on in, so this will be the only one sent to you until I return, should I return.

If anything happens to me, or you do not hear from me after this is over, make sure that our daughter is safe and take care of her.

I hope with all my might that I will return to kiss you and our daughter again,

Yours truely, my love,
Julius Manerion, Commander of the 1st Aunion Expeditionary Force to Phalanix."

The sun was bright when the five men stepped off the plane in Paladin, Phalanix. They had recently recieved their Phalanix passports in the mail, and were eager to begin their journey that they had been briefed about at headquarters. None of them was quite sure of what lay ahead, but they knew it was something that would change and stun the world.

They were each dressed in a Three-piece black suit, the head of the group, code named 'Gold Wing' carried a steel briefcase, which he guarded with his life. After stepping of the plane, they politely nodded at the hostess, and continued on into the terminal, quickly proceeding to the baggage claim.

Each looked at the other, waiting to be greeted by a member of the Phalanix War Council. This mission was fully top secret, as all Angelic Freedom missions were. They knew what would happen if word slipped. So they stoo quietly, awaiting full confirmation of the honorable Phalanix official.

Albel smirked as he shook 'Gold Wing's hand with his prosthetic arm that almost resembled a armored claw. "Please follow me. The car ride will only be a short one," he said as he led the men out of the airport and to a waiting black car. The windows were tined to the point that you couldn't even see inside and a pair of council flags were on the front signifying it had priority.
Albel opened on of the back doors and motioned for the men to get in, inside it ressembled a limo but far smaller.
After the short car ride of about twenty minutes past several baracades and the odd protest the vehicle pulled up to the massive building that had a slight gothic nature and inspired a feeling of dread in almost anyperson's stomache. Inside Albel quickly flashed his ID and the marine on guard duty simply nodded and let the men by and enter the elivator. Following a quick two minute decent into the depths of the building the elivator stopped and the door opened.
Outside a pitch black room with only three small spotlights on awaited them. One spotlight was tracking their movements, another stood in the center of the room aimed at a speaker's desk, and the final one partialy illuminated a single figure easily in his late fourties. "Gentlemen please come in and have a seat," the figure said motioning to the desk, "Also one more thing. Winged Deliverance had better not fail."

Emmitia:
The PSN-S Earned In Blood had already begun to track the movements of the transports. The use of a network of satlites to spy and watch events had always been useful for these moments. OOC: Do you have a map of your nation or anything, Phalanix? Or something to give me an idea of where the ships will be pulling into dock?

IC: Manerion had been awoken in the middle of the night by one of the sailors on the ship. He hadn't had much sleep lately, he never slept well on ships. He originally wanted to go into the navy, but this obvious disadvantage to naval service forced him into the army.

"Aggh..what is it, sailor?" mumbled the disoriented pateris.

"Pateris Manerion, sir, we have an unidentified ship on starboard." the young man whispered, trying not to startle the already confused Julius Manerion.

"Have Commadore Tetrinoi deal with it. It's not my job. My job is with the army." Manerion again buried himself under the covers.

"Tetrinoi has arrayed the cruisers into battle order, sir."

"That idiot. Ah, crap," Manerion rolled out of bed, grudgingly, and put on his pants, rapidly doing his belt, and then slid on his officer's vest, hurridly buttoning it on.

The bridge of the command ship, the ICS Augustus saw the angry face of Pateris-Colonel Julius Manerion barging through the room. "For the Emperor's sake, Tetrinoi, stand down."

"It's a hostile shiip, Pateris-Colonel," the Commadore insisted.

"We'll see about that," snarled Manerion. He smashed the thin steel box which held the flare gun. He picked out a random sailor. "You! Get out on the search light and start flashing morse code. I'll signal them. Get going, damn you!"

The young man, needless to say, climbed to the search light and began shutting it off in a rhytmic pattern, to the idea of:

"PLEASE IDENTIFY YOURSELF, THIS IS THE EMMITIAN SHIP AUGUSTUS..PLEASE IDENTIFY YOURSELF, THIS IS THE EMMITIAN SHIP AUGUSTUS," and so on.

Manerion stood on the bow of the ship, facing the oncoming vessal. He raised the flaregun to the night sky and fired, sending a glowing, brilliant red light into the air.

Meanwhile, the radio operators tried every channel to grab ahold of the ship. The triggerhappy sailors in Tetrinoi's cruisers were just waiting to open fire, however, even though it might be the end of them..

OCC: Sadly I don't. It's been on a to do list for a long long time but got lost along the way with a good factbook. But you'll be pulling into a small set of naval outposts the size of small islands then the mainland that is almost like a peninsula.
IC:
The ship, an aircraft carrier, didn't respond to the morse code. Insted the massive and powerful flood lights turned on reavling her name, the PNV Tiger's Claw, and on it's flight deck several large mecha stood waiting orders to fire as several fighters in a mecha jet hybrid form were waiting to take off.
((Think veritechs from Macross and Robottech))
Over the radio they responded insted.
"This is the PNV Tiger's Claw of the Phalanixian Navy here to escort you to the mainland. We suggest you stand down your battle stations and follow us in."

As soon as Tetrinoi heard the news of the ship's identify, he shuddered. Manerion walked back into the bridge, holding the discharged flair gun in his right hand and approaching the radio operator. On the way, he placed the flair gun on the top of one of the many computers of the bridge.

"PNV Tiger's Claw, eh? Phalanixian ship, right?" the radio operator nodded and gave an affirmative of this. "Now, now, Tetrinoi, imagine what would have happened if your damned cruisers had trained their guns on that thing. We would've been torn to bits by whatever they have on that carrier deck." Manerion smiled passive-aggresively. He snatched up the radio from the operator, held it to his mouth and replied to what the radio operator told him was said.

"This is the ICS Augustus, flagship of the convoy carrying the 1st Expeditionary Aunion to Phalanix, Pateris-Colonel Manerion speaking, commander of said Aunion. We are ready to follow you in. We apologize for the misunderstanding shortly before, the Commadore wants to become the next Horatio Nelson."

"You can't speak for the navy, Manerion, you're overstepping your boundries." Tetrinoi snarled with anger that his power was constantly undermined by this lowly Pateris-Colonel.

"For the Emperor's sake..I need some sleep, Tetrinoi, and if it'll make you happy, I'll make sure it isn't in your jurisdiction either." He grabbed the radio boy. "Sailor, what's your name?"

"Auten, sir."

"Very well, Auten, you'll now be known as Commadore Autin. Tetrinoi, I hope you can work a god damned radio. Now, I need to get some sleep. Auten, follow that ship into port, got it?"

"Yes, Pateris-Colonel, sir."

The ships of the 1st Expeditionary Aunion Support Fleet got into a quick line formation near the PNV Tiger's Claw, then stopped. When it would lead them to the docks, they would follow, then unload their troops.

The Tiger's Claw roared through the sea far faster than any normal carrier would. Within only five hours the first lights of the naval outposts could be seen as the same kind of hulking beasts (Destroid MAC-II Monsters) walked across the small islands entering relativly protected bunkers.
On the port it was almost empty and waiting to recive the troops.

It was hard keeping up the the Tiger's Claw, but the Emmitian naval fleet managed it by working the engines overtime, much to the risk of the sailors below the decks. Thankfully, there was no disaster blowing one of the ships straight out of it's hull, and the lights of the artificial islands of the naval docks became brighter and brighter as they came closer and closer. It wasn't long after that that the entire array of Emmitian ships floated in the water before the docks.

After the brief communications of hailing and dock allowances, the first of the large LST's pulled up to the dock. Brief docking procedures tied the ship to the spot. The Emmitian soldiers brought the ramp from the lower decks and carried it to the deck, laying it down so that it'd lead onto the dock. The soldiers were kept in the ships for now, and just the uniformed, glowing Pateris-Colonel Julius Manerion stepped down onto the docks, waiting for the commanding officer to meet him. He had even forgotten his name, who was supposed to meet him, he just knew that he wasn't to unload his troops without this man here.

Meanwhile, the rest of the ships pulled in elsewhere, all of them combined holding ten thousand armed, Emmitian troops within their decks.

Nearly seven dropships came down towards the Phalanix Earth Colony, towards the Northern Wasteland. Once there, they landed and outstepped nearly eighty-eight heavily armed and fully combat equipted marines. Each standing at least seven foot tall. The troop numbers appeared to be below the limited that Phalanix had placed on them when suddenly two Goliath Walkers stepped out of dropships. The men quickly assembled into their squads of twenty-two men each. The overall commanding officer of the "Acigoo Force", a Captain Hayner. Once he found the Phalanix military officals whom would transport them to the combat zone, he gave him a small briefing on their situtation.

"Eighty-Eight of the best marines in Bronze Fleet, plus two Goliath Walkers, sir," stated Hayner. His voice alone showed that he'd seen many a battle. "Where would we best serve at?"

Green Sun scientists studying the Acigoo containers have found a problem:
Although the containers do keep the Acigoo from escaping, it will still form monsters within the containers. The two containers containing the mutated Acigoo will be forced to return the Acigoo to the lake to prevent further spreading. We had really hoped that the containers would work so that we could bring in our larger tanks to simply drain the lake and move the Acigoo somewhere safer, but it seems that we will need someway to sterilize it, so to speak, so that it won't spawn and more enemies. We have our scientists are buzzing around trying to make a new container that will do this to upgrade our current ones.

Pateris-Colonel Julius Manerion saw the young woman walking up to her, commenting something to himself that would probably go past respectable limits in both civil society and his marriage. He walked up to her and shook her hand, in a sign that he considered her not a superior under any circumstances, but an equal, and thus would take little in the way of orders from her.

"Pateris-Colonel Julius Manerion, commander-in-chief of the 1st Expeditionary Aunion. May I ask you, what will be our assigned duty, where will that assigned duty be, and should I unload my troops immediately?"

Manerion shook his head, puzzled. A translator leaned over and whispered the Emmitian equivilant into his hear, then he nodded and gave the order to the sailors at the top of the first LST to unload the troops. Throughout the entire small fleet, the radios crackled with orders as troops were being given orders to pack up and get ready to ship out. They had little more than their rifle, duffle bag, and reserve ammunition to carry out, which was altogether a very heavy load.

Manerion himself did not look over this, but rather reported to the warehouse behind the young general. Behind him, already, soldiers in blue and grey uniforms were filing out of the ships, with the likewise colored rifles, their shape short and compact, slung over the soldier's backs. Mumbling or excitement filled the air as the first Qanion [Basic tactical unit, 10 men] lined up with their sargeant in front of them. They moved forward as the second came out, and they moved forward as soon as the third came out. It was like this all around the docks, with trained Emmitian troops aligned in near perfect columns over all the docks the LST's were stationed in. Manerion held back for a minute or so to give the command to get to the warehouse.

Then, he wandered into the warehouse, through the first door he saw. He hoped it was the right one, while the troops would file in, lined up in their Qanioi. Slowly, they filled the warehouse until all ten thousand men were either inside of the warehouse or crowded outside of it.

Manerion was busy shaking hands with a few of the officers, greeting them with the traditional "Khozain!" [A phrase in Emmitian meaning something akin to the Japanese Bonzai, or "Long live the Emperor,"], speaking to them for a few moments in Emmitian, and allowing the translator to give them his thoughts.

It wasn't long before, without any sort of permission, he ascended the podium to the salutes of his soldiers.

"Khozain! protectors of humanity!" Manerion shouted in Emmitian, so that every soldier may hear.

"Khozain!" the voices were melted into a single loud shout of Khozain to the Pateris-Colonel.

"I am required to give the floor to the officers of Phalanix, so that they may brief you. Everything they say will be news to me as much as you, so I shall be down there with you, shoulder to shoulder with you. Only a quarter of you shall be the first to head out, but remember that no distence can separate the strong bond of brotherhood we share, and remember that for every one of you that falls, two of you shall sprout in his place, fighting in the fallen man's name. Long live the Emperor Nicanor Angelicus Victor! Long live Emmitia!" He had purposely excluded Veresi's name, to the joy and elation of the troops. Despite his fondness for the military, the army, navy and airforce despised the Regent Veresi.

Leaving the translator behind, Manerion joined his troops at the warehouse floor, waiting for the briefing.

Several PONI officers ranging from Lt. to Lt. Commander. Behind them several men in jet black armor holding massive guns that ressembled cannons. Thier eyes were glowing blood red as well as four tubes, two on each side of thier necks, glowed as well.
"Alright I'm only going to say this once. The quarter of you that will be in Paladin will have to know the urban area you are going to be stationed in like the back of your hands," the Lt. Commander said as a hologram of the massive 750km wide city appeared above the troops. It quickly began to single out two areas, the Eastern District and the Slums, and zoomed in on both.
"Those of you stationed in the slums will be contending with the extreme combat. Their you will be stationed with several Demon special forces squads," he then motioned to the men in the almost demonic armor before continuing, "Those lucky ones will be outfited with surplus Council Guard equipment so as they can contend with the smaller beasts and run a higher chance to survive. You'll also be stationed with several Elite squads who will be in command when Demon's arn't there."
The hologram changed two video's, one of a Demon using a PRG to obliterate one of the acigoo beasts and the second one showed only a blur slicing a beast into pieces upon slowing the footage down to a fraction of its orginal speed showing an Elite as that blur with a black blade on it's armored wrist.

The translator repeated every single word to the soldiers and Manerion in Emmitian, so that they would understand. Manerion stood beside the man who had come to brief them, saying: "Unless there is anything else to say, you are all to move out. Transportation shall be coming shortly to transport those of you chosen for Paladin duty."

He leaned towards the translator, "Ask him when the transportation will be ready for the soldiers, and what units he wants to send to Paladin."

The translator faithfully repeated this to him, just as the soldiers were filing out of the warehouse in an orderly, though unorganized manner.

"God this is a bad idea," said Manerion to himself. The translator, either tired or slow, repeated this to the officer as well.

The Lt. Commander responded to the first question but ignored the other comment, "Thirtteen troopships shall arrive within the next hour. As for units, well we are latting you decide. Also we are going to borrow a translator so we can map out your language and update the nural links of the troopers that will be around yours."

Outside several Eagle and Hydra class dropships were landing and dumping cargo containers for the group that would be deploied in Paladin. Insdie were several thousand relitivly old PX-06 assault rifles, 7.7mm ammo for the rifles, drop trooper armor and afew hundred helmets equiped with small computer screens that would go over one eye and help display any requested information.

"Very well, I'll inform the troops and set aside the 250 Qanioi needed." Manerion left the warehouse and nearly randomly chose the two-hundred and fifty ten man groups needed. He didn't exactly know these troops. Some of the men that were chosen were ectatic with the idea of combat, others were saddened, knowing that they would probably be torn to pieces. He animated them with propaganda about the future of humanity, and the life of the Empire, though it was useless for some.

As the equipment got to the Emmitian forces, Manerion divided them among the troops that would be stationed on the worst parts of Paladin, in the slums. He hoped that this would stop them from being absolutely slaughtered.

Uneasily, the troops boarded the dropships, ready to be directed to their positions. Manerion himself stayed behind until the last second, where he lept onto the nearest troop ship he could find, buckled himself in and empty seat, and shouted Khozain to the troops with him. Those in the group that had a look of fear and dread in their eyes were at once cheered with the thought that their commander shared the risk with them. On the relatively primitive Emmitian radios (primitive compared to the Phalanixian ones, or whatever communication they used), it was reported to all of the troops that Manerion would be fighting beside them.

Manerion just hoped it'd get them from the borderline suicidal looks he saw from the troops. He crossed his fingers..

The dropships roared forth from the port city towards the capital megacity.
"This is your pilot speaking. We'll be in the slums in twenty minutes at top speed so don't expect a pleasent ride."

The "borrowed" translator was led to a waiting computer tech and a man hooked up at the neck to the computer. "Just sit down and this will take only a short while." The man was psionic and ready to quickly pick the information though not powerful enough to take it by force. "Just think of the words and translations."
((Just gona take a small liberty hope you don't mind. And no the psions powerful enough to tear the thought from a mind. Besides the psions tha could are station on a larger battlefront elsewhere.))

Twenty minutes later the dropships had begun the decent into the plaza that was the makeshift landing zone, several troopers manning the foxholes that made up the ground level defenses were firing the PRG's that were held in place to help them not suffer the massive recoil. A single armored Demon trooper holding a PRG and with a rifle slung over his sholders. The new nural update that the translator had "helped" with.
In Emmitian he spoke to them "Welcome to the Slums now get your asses out here so we can see if you are cannon fodder or can actualy be useful."

(Don't mind at all, go ahead.)

Manerion unbuckled himself and lept out from the dropship, before any of the troops even got the idea to do so. However, they all followed him out. Pateris-Colonel Manerion walked up to the Demon and gave a lazy salute.

"1st Emmitian Expeditionary Aunion, with 250 Qanioi representing. Where do you need us and what's the situation?"

He didn't even realise that he had spoken to the man in Emmitian, and wondered to himself if the man could understand. He swore he heard the man speaking in fluent Emmitian, but he wasn't sure.

All over the landing zone, Emmitian soldiers disembarked wearing both the Phalanixian battle equipment and the Emmitian fatigues, with both the Phalanixian rifle and the Emmitian RAU. They began conversing softly about the situation, seeing the entrenched foxholes and the constant warfare. It wasn't as glorious as they had hoped, but none the less, they still took their rifles from their backs and put their fingers around their weapon's trigger. A few of the Emmitian soldiers equipped as such readied their KAU-9 Anti-tank weapons instead, hoping to be able to hit harder.

Manerion looked at these troops, then turned back to the Demon. "Any tactics you can recommend about these infestations?"

"Just aim for the head and don't get any of the blood on you our you'll be shot. The blood is infectious and their isn't a cure," he said before cocking his head to he side and screaming at some Council Guard to, in his own words, fuck around or I'll smash your face in. "Get three squads ready becasue we are going in to relieve a squad. And tell them to pick up some 9mm grenades for thier PX-06's because they'll need it. We'll be going in with another Demon so leave the big things to us and you handel the little bastards. Oh one more thing show no mercy to any infected. Manerion nodded, and picked out three Qanioi armed with the Phalanixian equipment to go into the hotzone. Of those thirty men, one of them was Private (Yuoinoi in Emmitian) Augustine Naukaen.

"You, suit up, you're going into combat," shouter Manerion at his general vicinity. Denizon's entire Quanion grabbed their new rifles, a bunch of 9mm grenades supplied to them (in fact, they literally lined their pockets with them), and got into position to be taken into the hotzone.

One of Naukaen's friends whispered to him, "God, we're going to be picked to pieces. Look at these guys, THEY'RE having trouble holding them back. Imagine what'll happen to us.."

Naukaen smacked his friend, "Don't talk so pessimistically, dammit! We're the defenders of humanity, remember?" Naukaen and his friend smirked.

"Steen [Augustine's nickname], think it's true what they said about 'have no mercy'?"

"So I hear, Enion. We're supposed to shoot everyone in the head that's infected, right?"

"Right."

"Will you shoot me in the head, Enion?" Augustine gave his friend a big, almost caricature-like grin.

"Without a thought, I've always wanted to do that!"

"Ah, to hell with you."

(I'm going to go on a quick liberty here, if you don't want me to do it, just ignore it.)

The demon brought them all together and began to speak in fluent Emmitian, Emmitian which shocked all of them. "Listen, all of you! We're going in to relieve a squad trapped in the slums. Get your asses in gear and shoot everything that's infected. If the blood gets on you, kill yourself, you're as good as dead anyway. For god's sake, just aim for the god damned head. Let's go."

With that less-than-professional introduction to the situation, the Demon led the thirty Emmitian soldiers into the morass of chaos and bloodbath that was Paladin.

Meanwhile, Manerion got ahold of his "commanding officer" Jessica Parker via one of the Phalanixian communication devices. He began with theses words..

"Ms. Parker, have you ever heard of the medical process of cauterizaiton?"
Phalanix

The Demon quickly led them to the barricade that was gaurded by several Council Guard who could be heard muttering and whispering as well as betting on how long the new guys would last.
The Demon at the trench quickly climbed out and patted his partner on the back as the two quickly said afew formalities before getting down to bussines and leding the group past some of the lighter yet gresome areas of the fighting. Bodies were torn apart and thrown everywhere as blood littered the streets, acigoo beasts were gibbed and left rotting in the cool day as the sound of gunshots and the ka-chunk of armored units firing off massive rounds could be heard.
After almost five minutes of non-stop marching the lead Demon slowed down bring his PRG to his hip and waited. After only a second a ungodly scream echoed as he looked up and a beast lept off a building roof only to be sprayed across the building by a PRG slug blasting the thing's upper torso into mush. The exchange lasted afew seconds but the shock wouldn't.
The Demon chuckled then spoke, "Welcome to Paladin ladies. Where we learn to play the sharing game with the beast."

Parker quickly replied, "It dosn't work. The virus will mutate the body within seconds of contact. Extreme heat has no effect as well as extreme cold. Usualy it's to late besides feild medics don't have the time when their squad is rushed by several dozzen enemy at once. And even is anyone had a plasma blade the pain would be so intense that the apmuttie (SP?) would pass out and clutter the battle feild. Also after this mission you are to recive officer gear."

The soldiers watched in shock as the battle erupted around them. Other soldiers and beasts were being torn apart and the blasts of RPG fire could be heard in the distence. With a shout from the Qanion commanders, each of the troops stumbled in loading their grenades into their new rifles, still not properly acquainted with them. Yet they got them in and began taking aim at the monsters around, though they were dispatched by the surrounding forces before the Emmitian troops had chances to fire.

"Steen, how long do you think we'll last?"

"Give or take, thirty seconds."

'You're a generous and optimistic man, Steen."

"What's why I'd be general one day, if I wasn't stuck in this hellhole."

Meanwhile: Manerion laughed.

"No, no, Ms. Parker. It was figurative language. I wasn't suggesting that we actually burn them, though that was on my list until you disproved it. What I was suggesting was a full-scale extermination or exodus of all the infected areas. We have our guys, whether they be my troops or you own, put whoever is infected or is in risk of being infected to death and whoever isn't out of the city. Meanwhile we conduct a sweep of the area and put everything left in the city that moves to death as well. For each Phalanixian civilian that is infected, Phalanix "bleeds," figuratively speaking. And we apply the hot iron that will stop the bleeding. Thanks for the officer gear, by the way. Or at least, the offer of it.."

Meanwhile, Augustine and his fellow soldiers were still in their positions.

One of the monsters lept from the shadows of the alleyway and sliced at the arms of one of the soldiers in the flanks. Another enterprising soldier raised his weapon, and with the skill of intense instinct, fear, and training, he sent a burst of rifle rounds straight into the beast's head.

Blood splattered over the man, but it was another soldier that put the infected man out of his misery with a shot to the eye. The one that had been sliced was already transformed into one of the monstrocities, when an Emmitian soldier, Augustine to be exact, churned the brain mass, whatever there still was, if the mutation effected it, with a few rounds of his rifle. Some struck the monster's throat, others the chest, but one lucky round went up the cheek and into the medula oblongata, severing the brain connection to the rest of the body. The monster fell to the ground.

(Did I get that right?)

Jessica sighed quietly then responded, "Council orders not to do anything of the sort. Currently your men in the Slums are moving in on a squad that is nearest to the lake that the beast spawn from. As it sands the council is waiting to see what this strain does as the last three strains have acted diffrently. This strain by far is the most violent and ruthless one of the four."

"Fucking hell," one of the demons muttered as he took aim at a wall and fired his PRG blasting it open revealing a apartement building. All of you get in and hold hole up before you get killed. We still need fodder." The two had begun to fire and blasted apart beasts that had tried to launch themselves at the group. The area was litteraly being torn apart by just two men.

IC:
The harbor city of Paradise was housing roughly 7500 troopers from Emmitia and it was expected to get more from other nations.
Roughly four ware houses had been converted into comfertable public living quarters and a fifth as a cafateria and ironicly a medical station. However outside it wasn't all friendly. Several hundred meters away blockades permiting only authorized personel limited the Emmitia troops contact with Phalanix civilians.

~Lone Alliance HQ~
"They've agreed and our Forces have been sent on." One of the Council members said. "Excellent."

~Transport~
"Alright listen up," Came the announcement from LT.General, Tharp.
"We are being dispatched to Phalanix to aid in containing a very dangerous Chemical Spill, I'm sure you're all familiar with our current problems with our own mutant plantlife." Some nodded. "Well take that and multiply it times one Hundred." He began to show footage of the area. "This is Acigoo, it's makeup is unknown currently but we do know this, Every person who comes in physical contact with it are doomed, it also spawns multiple monsterious creatures, and unlike ours, it doesn't need raw materials to do so." Some gave a look of horror over the images. "They have managed to halt the spread of the actual substance, but the creatures spawned by it are continuing to try and break through their lines, our engineers are to aid in shoring up defenses at the very edge of the battlefield, should the call to fall back arrives. "

"Meanwhile, We will deploy in sniper teams to aid in the supressing fire of the other soldiers, if you witness a soldier become infected, you are to take him out as soon as possible, if the line breaks, you are to slow down the advancing monsters until reinforcements arrive, only fall back when the everyone else does, if you all keep your Armor suits on, you should be save from light splash damage, but don't put it to chance, if they are advancing on you fall back to the Barricades." "We will be landing in a few hours, lets stop these menaces before they escape."
