Arcadie, Prachtig
--Cheers can be definitively be heard just outside the Geisenfried National Liberal Party Headquarters here in Arcadie as the Liberal Party obtained the majority within both houses of the legislature. In today's Parliament and Senate elections, the Liberal Party won 47 seats out of 93 in the Senate including the chancellory; as well as taking 139 of 295 Parliament seats, including the Prime Minister's seat. These strong results put the Liberal Party well above its other two competitors, the Conservative and Social Democratic Parties, in both houses.
However, it wasn't always so evident. The first results, which came from the Kalter region, had the Liberals in tight competition with the Conservatives and Social Democrats. "It was a nervewrecker when Kalter came in." said now Chancellor-elect Kurt Motzer, "In the chancellor race, I barely had any sort of lead compared to my other two opponents, and my buddy Leonard over there wasn't even in the lead for the prime minister race. Luckily we had managed to scrape out quite a few senate and parliament seats, but only due to minor victories in the area." 'Minor' victories is a good term, considering within Kalter, the Liberal Party won 5 of its Senate seats and 8 Parliament seats with victories of less than 2% over the other parties.
It didn't take too long for the Liberals to get a comfortable cushion though, with the Liberal Party winning large gains in the Erzengel and Kreml regions, especially within Shinden and Courant, the second and third largest cities in Geisenfried. With this overwhelming support, the Liberal Party now had comfortable leads in all the races, including 12-percent leads in both the Chancellor and Prime Minister races.
In the end, the Liberal Party would end up with 139 Parliament seats and 47 Senate seats. The Conservatives would win 74 Parliament seats and 22 Senate seats, with the Social Democratic party right behind, with 73 Parliament seats and 22 Senate seats. The Green Party surprisingly managed to get in 7 Parliament seats and 2 Senate seats, a strong performance for the small party. The Libertarian Party would be the only other party to get seats in either of the houses, gaining 2 Parliament seats. Kurt Motzer, the Liberal Party's candidate for Chancellor, obtained 45.38% of the vote, and won by the impressive margin 20.66% of the vote. Meanwhile Leonard Bischoff, the Liberal Party Prime Minister candidate, took 41.87% of the vote, and won by 15.82%, consolidating the Liberal victory.
The large gap over their opponents, as well as the animosity between the Conservative and Social Democratic party means that the Liberal Party should have little opposition in concerns of voting. This only adds more to the victory the Liberals have gained in the election.
Prime Minister-elect Leonard Bischoff and Chancellor-elect Kurt Motzer are due to be inaugurated within the week, while the new Parliament and Senate are set to start before the end of the month.
