Golgu-Shanaat

The forest smells of lite pine and fir, and branches rustle with the sound of rubber boots and the clanking of Kalishnikovs against leather vests. The men you see are the minority Graubian fighters who want their independence with blood and honor; they feel that the Turkic-dominated society of Golgu-Shanaat has left them in the dust, even though they make up one third of the population. When one of the fighters was asked about his cause, he replied that ever since unification, the Graubian minority has been "pushed down into uranium fields" and "made to endlessly labor in the auto and coal factories" with "not even a pointing finger from the Sultanate, or the Rebublic."
Unification took place one month ago when the Tatar Sultanate of Shanaat was taken over in part by automobile and oil tycoons, disabing its economy permanently. It asked the neighboring Republic of Golgu for aid, and a new federation was created, as Golgu needed industry and a harbor.
The oil tycoons disbanded immediately after Unification, and the Federation has coexisted peacefully until now, when the sole Graubian advisor to the Federation Head was fired after getting caught in a corruption and purjury scandal involving his female secretary, a claim which the advisor vehemently denies.
"The Graubian rebels pose a new threat to the Federation and its people, I am deploying troops to the affected areas in order to solve this as quickly as possible!" declared Golgu provincial governor Andrzej Poziulik, after anouncing a State of Emergency.
Tatar Sultan of Shanaat Adli Zarab has another approach. He has handed control of the situation in his areas to a new militia known as the "Fighters of the Sultan" who will use guerilla tactics such as what the rebels use to ward them off. The Sultan has declined comment.
In the meantime, hate-crimes against Graubians are on the rise, and the government is working to combat the problem, says Homeland Secretariat Poliduok Mazurdi. However, the problem is increasing according to the new UN Human Rights Report, and has already involved four deaths by a mob.
Already, three people have died due to the violence, including one rebel who was shot dead by a vigilante citizen, in the citizen's own back lawn.
