Tourist Information

Farmina is a luxurious island with some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. The Great Southern Beach spans more than 200 kilometers. Farmina is warm all year round and every day is a good surf day.

But there is more to Farmina than beaches, bikinis and surfing. The mega cities that line the south coast provide great shopping destinations and a centre of culture. Every night, cities like Verica and Anders buzz to life with as people go to fine restaurants, consuming delicacies, before going to see plays, movies, operas and the ballet. It was once said that Farmina is the very centre of high society.

Some of the world’s finest buildings can be found in Farmina. Notable sites include the Casino Verica, Golden Abbey, the White Palace and the Statue of Justice. Residing on the Golden Abbey used to be considered the grandest building in all of Farmina and now spans several hundred kilometres. The White Palace was constructed under Emperor Justinian, who decided the Golden Abbey was not a suitable residence. The White Palace can be found on the northern edge of Verica and is now used mainly as a tourist attraction. The palace has many plazas, theatres, opera halls and hotel rooms. Further west, in the coastal city of Ricco, the Statue of Justice embodies everything a moral Farminan should stand for. Standing at a massive 75 metres high, the statue is visible for many kilometres, guarding the entrance to Ricco.

But if great places, great culture and great beaches aren’t enough, Farmina has even more on offer. Mountain climbing, world class soccer, cafes, lush forests, amazing mines, international sporting events, a rich history dating back to 1691, theme parks, nature reserves and so much more. Book your holiday to the all new Farmina TODAY.

Visit the Trinity beaches. They are beautiful all year round

The parties social policy however remains radically left wing, with unsubstantiated rumours that James Palmer frequently flaunts Farmina’s strict sodomy legislation (which was struckdown after the formation of the Democratic Republic. After winning an election in dubious circumstances, Lord Palmer briefly served as president before being dismissed for a horde of reasons by the Parliament. He is currently serving as acting President.

The Shadow's Modern History of Farmina

I remember the year of my exile well. It was by all measure when the Church was at the very height of its power over Farmina, the Holy Republic of Farmina, as it was known at the time. The Church was not the only governing body, but it was by far the strongest. The elected councils held symbolic power, but were generally viewed as outdated and too complex to be possibly workable. Church edict was quickly passed into law by the massive Conservative majority in the councils, trying to win the support of the Church, and its limitless members. The military although technically independent, served the Church as was required. This is not to say that the military wasn’t planning on taking everything for itself; merely that the public’s love of the Church made it impossible to betray without careful planning. The Church had seen the systematic destruction of the Great Houses and courts had become little more than a puppet of the Church’s great schemes. Other religions had been routed and destroyed systematically over the years; racial and linguistic minorities tended to disappear. Nothing stood in the way of the Church, and its absolute spiritual leader, the Third High Priest.

I remember him as a ruthless man, yet old and frail. He had little hair, and that he had was grey. His teeth were yellow, and his eyes a pale blue. He couldn’t walk for long stretches of time and in the end was constrained to a wheel chair. But more than ruthless and old, he was a man of God albeit a senile one. His eyes often did not comprehend complex policy and he was hard at hearing. When something did not work as he wished he would simply yell and yell, until someone would tell him the truth was in fact not the truth. By all measures he was insane, but then again foreigners consider all Farminans insane, and now I am more foreign than ever. It is perhaps ironic that Farminans in return think all foreigners insane, to such an extent, that the words ‘foreign’ and ‘insane’ are frequently substituted, i.e. to call someone a foreigner is an insult and an attack on their mental stability. The Third High Priest was, in this context, certainly foreign.

I was part of the Church in those times, before my exile. I was dedicated and hard working, a vital piece of the Church machinery. And after all these years, I have lost neither my faith nor my loyalty; only my home. But on with the history of Farmina.

I remember being summoned to a conference in the lower levels of the Golden Abbey. The immaculate rooms were home to the High Priest and his inner circle. This conference was no ordinary conference; but one that would bring Farmina into its first war in a long time; the long forgotten nation of Farmina would emerge back into the history books. In a nation known as Sinear, a dictator known simply as “Kalantar” was butchering his own people to test its military prowess. Such brutality was of no concern to the High Priest, brutality was a way of life in Farmina, although the true extent of this would only become known after the High Priest’s death. Many years had passed since the harshest of the repression, but by no means did that mean the High Priest didn’t make people, and in some cases villages disappear off the map. However my point is not repression under past regimes, merely how Farmina came to be in its current state, with President Tobias Grey’s eagle eye watching every move.

Several nations had mobilized against Sinear, not unusual considering the circumstances. The High Priest saw this as an opportunity to test Farmina’s military prowess. When we voted on the plan to secretly send troops into Sinear to fight for the government, we all voted in favor. Voting against the High Priest was forbidden. And so hundreds, and then thousands were sent into Sinear, to secretly aid Kalantar and his corrupt regime.

The war in Sinear looked like it would be a decisive defeat for Farmina and Sinear. The massive coalition against them seemed unstoppable. Resistance however was fierce. The Sinearans fought to the last man, woman and child it is said, going so far as to attack the invaders with their bare hands if nothing else was available. They had been brainwashed into an undying love for Kalantar. The fight dragged on and the invading coalition weakened as nation after nation pulled out. Then the great change occurred. A group known only as the Taka descended upon Sinear and with their massive force smashed the invading coalition, forcing the remnants into a full scale retreat.

However, as Kalantar enjoyed his moment of victory, death came for him; shot dead by one of his men, Brigadier General Wesley. Wesley proclaimed himself president of Sinear, but was soon to lose everything he thought he had won. It was not long before Wesley declared Sinear’s surrender and ordered his troops to withdraw from the front. Farmina, however had a backup plan. I was personally one of the architects in what has to be the greatest of historical deceits. We resurrected Kalantar from the dead. The beloved leader continued to yell about war against the invading coalition, which now amounted only to Nowhere Place. Soldiers continued to fight, and the authority of the Wesley government quickly began to crumble.

However, the deceit that my companions and I orchestrated was not great enough to bring down the new government. It was then that Farminan troops turned from the front and took aim against Wesley himself. Explosions rocked Sinear as a wave of terrorist attacks saw government buildings turn to rubble. The level of insurgency was so bad that Wesley ordered his own capital turned into a nuclear wasteland as a signal to his enemies. The rebellion continued none the less, although severely crippled by such loss in one hit.

The final collapse of the invading coalition occurred, as the boats full of troops streamed to their homeland. The Taka gave chase, and paid no further attention to Sinear, where full fledged civil war was being waged. Now mercenaries poured into Sinear, to aid the near dead government, as more Farminans and supplies poured in to bring down the government.

Then it happened, General Wesley’s command bunker was found and destroyed. The government of Sinear was gone, although General Wesley managed to escape with his life, fleeing to a neighbouring nation. It was at this time, I was sent to Sinear along with so many others, sent into our exile. That was the price of success under the High Priest.

We were given the duty to construct a new government for Sinear, loyal to the Church, but using Kalantar as its image. War was still being waged in Sinear, as Farminans and Sinearans fought against mercenaries who hoped to claim Sinear as their payment. And to what huge cost. Never have I seen so many machines turned into scrap metal or people into gore. The battles seemed beyond pointless, especially considering the inevitable failure that faced all three factions. The mercenaries would return home empty handed, the Farminan government would never truly control Sinear, and Kalantar would never preside over the nation either. We exiles however had plans of our own; betraying the Farminan military in the name of personal power, which at the time was openly plotting against my beloved Church. Traitor or loyalist, a question that after all these years I still ponder.

In time I left Sinear, outcast from the government I had helped construct, the government which it is said I betrayed my homeland to construct. I wandered the world, looking for sanctuary, labeled a traitor by two nations. I would preach for supper and tell stories to children and do odd jobs for this and that. Go by no illusion that I went hungry. God watched over me, provided for me in those trying years; aiding me to find jobs that paid well and helped me maintain a quite life. In return I vowed to spread his vengeance on the ungodly.

While I walked the streets of a hundred nations, other wheels were turning. In Nowhere Place, words trickled into the ears of government. Rumours spread of Farminan involvement in the disaster they experienced in Sinear. Then evidence managed to work its way into their laps. The High Priest seemed to have already been aware of this possibility. Elite terrorists were picking targets throughout Nowhere Place, preparing to match anything that happened in Farmina.

Within hours of the first missiles striking Farmina, it is said that the first government buildings fell down in Nowhere Place. Farmina was quickly blockaded, but destruction continued in Nowhere Place, as radical preachers turned ordinary Nowhere Placans into suicide bombers. I remember seeing the terror on the television, as ordinary Nowhere Placans reported that friends and family seemed to just one day be different people, people insistent on killing them. It was said by the end of the conflict, 1% of the Nowhere Placan population was Grey Catholic and ready to detonate themselves for their God.

The Nowhere Placans moved quickly in their attempts to defeat Farmina, no doubt hoping it would end the reign of terror in their homelands. Troops poured onto Farminan beaches under heavy fire. Death was visited on both sides at a massive rate. After little more than a week of fighting, a ceasefire was called by Farmina. Which Farminan institution was responsible for this is unclear to me, and foreign media attribute little significance to such vital facts.

A peace conference was called in ViZion, and it was at this time Farmina pulled its masterstroke, that outraged the Nowhere Placans, but forced them to make peace with Farmina. During the peace conference, Dumpsterdam, Farmina’s new ally launched a lightning attack on the Nowhere Placan navy, causing massive casualties and entrapping the Nowhere Placan troops on the Farminan beaches, between the Dumpsterdamian navy and the Farminan army, as Dumpsterdam warned of a final strike. In retaliation, Nowhere Place’s ally Rotovia launched an attack on the Dumpsterdamian fleets to try and aid their allies. The attack was a disaster, and Rotovia mobilised several fleets to move against Dumpsterdam and Farmina. It was at this time Nowhere Place met Farmina’s terms, but Farmina had to renounce terror as a tactic in war. It would not be long before the tactic was reused. After a brief series of skirmishes, Rotovia also made peace with Farmina and Dumpsterdam.

The vital point of the story so far is that Farmina fell into the debt of Dumpsterdam. It is the only possible justification of what happened next, what could be defined only as insane, or ‘foreign’. Farmina offered to launch war against a massive coalition of larger nations. Dumpsterdam had been invaded by a coalition under the command of AutoMagFreek, in what was known as Operation Brimstone. As I recall, The Island of Rose, Scandinavian States, the Silver Turtle and those that called themselves Crazed Marines. Of these nations, the Crazed Marines were the ones that would throw Farmina history off track.

I remember seeing the event on television. A massive rally had been called at the Golden Abbey, a summoning of strength against the coalition by the High Priest. Then there was panic and the transmission was lost. It wasn’t till three hours later, more live feed came from Farmina. A Crazed Marine missile strike had occurred. The Golden Abbey was in ruins, the entire town was in ruins. But more observable was the shattered bones, the blood and bodies. But overriding even this was the news that the Third High Priest was dead and the fourth was little more than boy.

The fourth would be unlike any leader Farmina that would ever now. His name was Justinian, who would shake the very balance of power like never before. He was most certainly a clever child, thinking out games several steps in advance, and with a persuasive grasp of the English language. I have only met Justinian once, when he was seven, at the Institute for Gifted Children. There they did the most horrible things to the gifted. Training it was called, conditioning is more to the point. Some say Justinian was an orphan, others say he was seized from his family by the Church due to his talents. I know better, the truth is far more disturbing.

It was shortly after this that Dumpsterdam capitulated, with the requirement that the war against Farmina was ceased. The Crazed Marines and Farmina continued to fight, regardless of this. It seems that a traitor general in the Marine nation was insistent on seeing Farmina completely exterminated. I remember reading headline about series of chemical and biological attacks that had been launched against Farmina, that it latter appeared was not authorised by the Crazed Marine government at all. The Marine nation blockaded Farmina and in return strike, one of the Crazed Marine’s largest ports mysteriously disappeared in a large explosion.

Then mercenaries, Bahbian mercenaries, joined the fight, launching an attack against the naval blockade of Farmina. It was shortly after this that the two sides met to talk and agreed to peace. The general responsible for the chemical attacks and the brutal murder of the Third High Priest of Farmina was handed over to Justinian. The General was tried and executed. Quite brutally might I add. It verges on unbelievable that a nation would sacrifice one of their own to such a fate, no matter how much of a traitor they were considered.

As the wars ended, so did an era. Justinian seemed to malfunction; he did not share a vision with the Church, the vision that they had worked so hard to implant in him. It was as if his training was not complete, or that he suffered a biological defect they could not fix. His ‘victory’ over the Marines gained him much popularity, and he used it to push forward his new and radical agenda. Trade became a major goal, as Justinian pushed for trade agreements with every nation he could find. Markets were liberalized, as layer after layer of economic regulation was stripped away. Trade unions became an enemy of the state, at first discouraged and in the end crushed. Alcohol and gambling, the twin evils of society, were legalized, although heavily regulated. Justinian was compared to a juggernaut, tearing apart a hundred years of tradition. Then he made the greatest reform of all.

Justinian appointed himself, Emperor Justinian, separate from, but presiding over the Church. Farmina was no longer a Holy Republic, but a Holy Empire. In a single referendum he changed the very shape of Farminan politics. Church rule was gone, becoming little more than an advisory body that bore the right to the occasional veto. The Grey Catholic Church became headed by a Pope, in fact an old friend of mine who I have not seen in many years, Cardinal Thomas Wurts. Courts were restored to their former glory, with fair trial returning as an important value. Furthermore, the referendum allowed Emperor Justinian to place executive power in the hands of the Elected Councils, by appointing the Chancellery. Elected Councils were also granted real legislative power, and simplified back to a series of provincial councils with a two federal councils, one proportionally elected, and the other appointed by the provincial councils. Further regulation was placed on the military, as Justinian tried to strip away the last elements of military autonomy.

Whether these reforms were good or bad is debatable. Some claim that democracy is the be all and end all of political systems, but this seems an argument of pure dogma. Surely good governance is in fact the final outcome, and democracy is merely a means to an ends. Some argue that a secular state is superior, but again I question the wisdom of such arguments, since there is no greater being than God. Some even say that secularity and democracy are inherently intertwined, which I also find flawed. Strong religious overtones remained in politics, and remain in politics; with it considered a duty of government to protect the people from Satan’s dark power. This can be seen with the highly religious Conservative Block gaining 45% of the vote in the election before the Carnival and even more in prior elections. This is further substantiated by Emperor Justinian’s strong religious convictions and dedication to a Catholic people.

Let us move forward the clock to the next election. The Conservative parties (which in total are the Conservative Block) have always tended to hold a majority in all the councils, and the important bickering tended to be confined within the Conservative Block. However another Block would rattle the cage, and lead us to the situation we now survey.

The Moralist Block launched a more aggressive, and yet moderate campaign in the election than they had in the past. In the past they had been so extreme they had often been referred to as Fascists. I remember stumbling on a rally by one Moralist party, instructing the government to invade all nations “harboring blacks,” but that was over twenty years ago. Now moderation and religion had now emerged as the words of the Moralists. Dan Rickhart was in charge of the Block at the time and managed to gain a massive 25% of the vote, making them vital for the Conservatives to control the lower house of the new elected councils. Emperor Justinian devised a compromise with Dan Rickhart and formed a new coalition government, containing both Moralists and Conservatives. This however was not enough for the Moralists, who pushed for more and more power, hunting dirt on Conservative Chancellors forcing them to resign. It also appeared that moderation was only limited to economic policy, and social policy was nearly as extreme as twenty years ago. Justinian managed to win a small victory when he had Dan Rickhart sent to Krioval where he could do no further damage; at least until Rickhart returned. The result was that Tobias Grey came to lead the Moralist Block, who quickly moved to keep all the Block’s plans in motion.

As the Moralists cooked up even darker deals, promising the military full autonomy in exchange for its might, Justinian smelled other rats. The far left of the Socialist Block had engaged in a number of illegal activities, relating mainly to electoral fraud and theft. It was this that would lead to the macabre Carnival, a massacre of 650,000 members of the Socialist Block, men, women and children alike; the first time the death penalty had been used on mass in such a public fashion. Even live television coverage; which was quickly seen around the world. I doubt the massacres were worse than those of the past; these people had been given trials after all, and the number dead was less than a million. Compared to what happened in Farmina's past and would happen in the future, the Carnival was child's play. There was a great deal of query as to what prompted the executions to be on mass. Some said it was sadism, an attempt to exploit fear against the Moralists, a hatred of Socialism, the list goes on. To try and draw a conclusion is foolish and beside the point.

I think no one can forget the reaction to the Carnival. Mass international condemnation, and the blame lay squarely with Justinian and the Conservatives as far as the world was concerned. It was in this setting that the Moralists continued to move their pieces into place, with the attention off themselves. Nations launched war against Farmina for its actions, but the open rebellion that filled the streets was of greater importance. The Moralists and the Military openly moved against the Emperor, but also Socialists took openly and violently to the streets; but secretly even more treason was afoot. This is a subject I will return to shortly.

The rebellion was brought to an end by massive deployment of Dumpsterdamian troops. The Farminan Military was put to gun and watched carefully by those in high places. They could clearly not be trusted. The final nail in the rebellion was when Justinian made the ultimate concession; he named Tobias Grey, Grand Chancellor, head of government. But Justinian’s problems had only just begun, with Mondoth and Random Kingdom dedicated to full-scale war against Farmina.

Farmina and her allies brought their navies to bear and did battle with Mondoth in Faminan waters. Wolfish forces went so far as to strike the homeland of Mondoth. Mondoth was soon by other small nations but they stood little chance against the joint fleets. In the end Mondoth accepted that Justinian was making reforms in Farmina, including a democratic change to ban the execution of young persons.

Against Random Kingdom, Farminan and Wolfish fleets launched bombing raid after bombing raid to bring down the very heart of the corrupt socialist dictatorship. The Random Kingdom government collapsed and Farmina installed a new democratic government before withdrawing. This move also won some international praise, from pro-democracy nations like Pacitalia and others I have forgotten, but again I reject that the accomplishment of democracy is inherently good.

However the victory brought more war, with The Island of Rose declaring war on Farmina. The military moved quickly to strike at the Island. It was up to Justinian to defend the actions. The roles had been reversed, and now Justinian was weak. He could not be seen to openly attack a military decision; to do so would be tantamount to treason. Instead he called for international support for the actions, before securing peace at the last minute.

Justinian was not only losing control of the institutions, he was losing his mind. The reason for this is not perfectly clear. My sources suggest that his personal aide was a Moralist, appointing kitchen staff, who drugged the Emperor at every meal. Others suggest that it was what happened to him at the Institute for Gifted Children. Further speculation is that the Emperor snapped due to the untimely death of his long time companion, Kerria, which matches the timing very well. I have great faith in my sources, and thus follow their version of events.

In the end Justinian was restrained and taken to his quarters. A constitutional crisis quickly formed, with the division of powers very unclear. The matter was finally settled in the Grand Court, with the powers of the Emperor being granted to Grand Chancellor Tobias Grey. The Moralists, a minority in the Councils, and the preachers of dangerous ideas now had greater power than ever. I remember reading it in the morning paper, those few short months ago. My stomach turned. As a Conservative, this was bad news. But worse was to come.

The Moralist Enforcers, known on the streets of Farmina as black-shirts, quickly took over the role of law enforcement. The power of the law was turned against the Conservatives, whose only tool to fight the Moralists seemed to be a majority in the upper house of the Elected Councils.

On one hot day in Farmina, everything changed. Exactly what happened is unclear. Dumpsterdamian forces were ejected from Farmina. The Emperor seemed to leave with those forces, although President Grey officially objected to the Emperor's forced absence. The Conservative Block was meeting in Aston. The entire city is now rubble, rumour has it Grey ordered a military attack. My estimates see at least 5 million men, women and children dead. There are survivors, taking refuge in the deep desert, waiting for their revenge. The Conservative Block itself is outlawed. Tobias Grey, with the support of the military and the Labour Block, now stands unopposed. The Democratic Republic of Farmina was declared.

The plans of Tobias Grey are like a storm cloud. The constitution that ensured the most basic elements of Farminan society has been torn to shreds. Judicial independence is no longer guaranteed and can be overturned by a single act of legislation. The self appointed President, Tobias Grey, is gaining influence of the Church; religion is being made to support policy. Provincial councils are to be abolished and take law from Tobias Grey’s federal decrees. The Elected Councils will be replaced by a single chamber parliament, elected by a series of equal size single member pluralities; concentrating power in the largest most well positioned minority: the Moralists. The President will be separate from parliament and hence completely unaccountable and unsackable.

And what does Grey envisage with such power? The evidence is found in the action. His systematic attacks on the disgusting likes of homosexuals are clear; but this is formally no change in Farminan policy; although a feigned ignorance towards homosexuality seen under Justinian. Other minorities are also in range; as he moves against racial and linguistic groups that do not suit his perfect uniform democratic society. More scary yet is that economic policy will swing radically to the left; perhaps unsustainably as policies like minimum wages threaten our nation's jobs. He shall make the eras past seem like pleasant tolerant utopias.

Now even history is subject to Grey’s power. Facts are subject to change at his will and pieces of information disappear altogether. That is the power President Grey has already accumulated; and more is being amassed. And this is at the very heart of why I write: do not allow democracy to be the ends; for it can be the ends to tyranny when the people have been brainwashed for so many generations.

My new master is moving his own pieces into position; limiting President Grey, plotting his removal. I call on the people of Farmina and the world to endeavor towards this goal. Listen not to the lies of the Moralists; what they offer is an abomination, democracy twisted into tyranny. And to every nation on Earth, Grey wishes to spread this abomination and he will stop at nothing to achieve it.

I am the Shadow. I am but whispers in the night. I do not exist. My word is death.

Hall of the Dead

A final memorial to Farminan greats

Thomas Grey
Great, great grandfather of Tobias Grey. Founded the Grey Catholic Church, believing the Roman Catholic Church was deviant and perverted. The religion continues to dominate in Farmina until this day. He served as the First High Priest, and gained it great political influence, before quitting to raise a family, that became the great Grey line. He died at eighty; though his only son was just twenty eight.

Harkon Leverus Grey
Son of Archibald Grey and Sarah Leverus, grandson of Thomas Grey, father of Richard Lionel Grey and grandfather of President Tobias Grey. He was often described often as the ultimate Farminan, having prized physical characteristics as well as strong mental abilities. He was a popular politician and served as a Chancellor and for several terms as Grand Chancellor. He was shot dead by Samuel Bartholomew Walter as part of an ongoing rivalry between the House of Grey and the House of Walter.

Carl Leverus
The second High Priest of the Grey Catholic Church and Farmina. Under his leadership the Grey Catholic Church secured more political power; including near absolute power over the executive. He led Farmina through turbulent internal times as old power agents tried to regain what they lost, but the all failed. He died at the amazing age of one hundred and forty six; the eldest Farminan ever, though officially ruled for another three years after his death due to a difficult power transition.

The Third High Priest
Brutal dictator of Farmina for more than half a century, ruling the nation in the name of the church. He was often considered insane and excessive, and as the years went on his rule became more and more unstable. His reign saw the Church reach the peak of its power, dominating a vast array of political and civil institutions. He led Farmina to victory in the Sinear campaigns against a range of enemies; generally considered his finest hour. He never revealed his real name to the populous, though it is kept in secret church records; leading to suspicion his bloodline was impure. In the end he was killed by a Crazed Marine bomb in the Farmina-Marine war; dying an old and crippled man.

Kerria Sirade
Long time companion of Emperor Justinian; from his early education up until her untimely death. A talented mathematician and speaker, she often stood in Justinian’s shadow. Murdered at the age of sixteen, her broken body washed up on the shores of the River Verica. Her death crushed Justinian and he has never fully recovered. No charges were ever laid.

Professor Michael James Walter (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/Farmina/WalterandFamily.jpg)
A famous academic, celebrity and fruitcake. Coming from the far right, he considered himself an expert at everything, although his field was ‘Morality, Purity and Theological Studies’. His younger brother, Cameron Walter, inherited the family fortune and title; but lost the wealth in casinos. The Professor (as he was popularly known) however made his own fortune selling a wide range of books, including some that justified genocide. He also hosted several television programs and had his own brand of aftershave. He married a doctor of nuclear physics, who was thirty years his junior, and had a massive family. When he was on holiday, his entire family was murdered by black-shirts and soldiers, though guilt was never proven. He swore never to return, selling all his Farminan assets and lived out the remainder of his miserable life in exile; though he did try to smuggle weapons to his Conservative allies and never settled a massive tax dispute.

Field Marshal Richard Jefferson (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/Farmina/Jefferson.jpg)
A talented strategist and dedicated Conservative. He raced through the ranks of the Farminan military during the Sinear campaigns reaching Field Marshal in Operation Brimestone. He continued to lead Farminan overseas military missions for several years, including the occupation of Random Kingdom, where he was declared military governor. Shortly after returning from Random Kingdom, Jefferson was shot by his long time rival and superior Supreme Commander Arnold Bashar and then left to die. He died leaving a pregnant widow, who took exile overseas.

Robert Brie Senior (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/Farmina/BrieSnr.jpg)
Long serving Conservative member of the Elected Councils, forming part of the Wardan, Vernis, Goth, Water and the first Grey governments. His wife from cancer died after giving birth to his first and only child Robert Junior. After being sacked by Tobias Grey in favor of a Moralist, he plotted with Thomas Goth to remove Tobias Grey from the office of Grand Chancellor. In the end he was torn apart by shrapnel from a falling artillery shell in the Aston masscare. His last words were an apology to his estranged son; an apology that never made it.

Robert Brie Junior
Estranged son of Robert Brie Senior. Originally served in the military, before going into politics as a Conservative to appease his father. He served briefly under Grand Chancellor Vernis as a Lesser Chancellor before losing his seat and returning to the military. He was then killed by members the military in the Moralist take over; dying within hours of his father.

Jonathon Water
A short lived Grand Chancellor in the era of the powerful Grand Chancellors, after Thomas Goth and before Tobias Grey. His weeks in power were considered disasterous, and it became clear he did not have the strength for Farminan politics. He had previously served as Chancellor of the Laws and returned to that role after his time as Grand Chancellor. He was later sacked by Tobias Grey. He died along with many Conservatives in the massacre at Aston.

Peter Vernis
A long time politician and chancellor, Vernis served under the Third High Priest, before being made Grand Chancellor by Emperor Justinian. He did not serve long in this role, as he was dismissed after an election defeat by the Emperor in a deal with the Moralist, Dan Rickhart, to help secure a majority in the Councils. Moralist treachery however saw treason charges brought against Vernis. Justinian used his powers to have the false charges thrown out, saving Vernis from execution. In the chaotic days in which the Moralists seized power from the Emperor, he and his wife were shot dead, presumably by black-shirts. No charges have ever been laid.

Elaine Grey
Wife of President Tobias Grey. Was the last member of the Yarlarn House. She spent most of her life as a socialite and later gathering political support for her husband. She died as the result of a bomb arranged by a terrorist known only as ‘The Shadow’ meant for the President.

Arnold Bashar (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/Farmina/Bashar.jpg)
Long serving Supreme Commander of the Farminan military over three different regimes. Pompous and arrogant, also slightly incompetent. Fearing the military’s rising star Richard Jefferson would take his job, Bashar long plotted against him. Feeling that Emperor Justinian was too involved in military affairs, Bashar led the military to support Tobias Grey’s take over of the government. It was at this time he killed the pro-Justinian, Richard Jefferson. Months after the rise of Tobias Grey, Bashar felt the new government had not kept all its promises and risked slipping back into Justinian’s own ways. Seeing a chance to seize power for himself, Bashar launched a coup that he bungled badly and ended with Dan Rickhart shooting him dead in his own lavatory. The official explanation was electrocution.

Rellian Peters
Long time aide, personal spy and confidant of Chancellor Dan Rickhart, particularly noted for his service in observing and manipulating the situation in Crete, later to become the governor of Crete. He hinted to SGC of Northern Colonies, that he had another master than Dan Rickhart. On the Night of the Butchers he revealed himself to be a member of the Cult of Justinian; killing Cardinal Borusa, badly wounding Dan Rickhart and trying to kill President Tobias Grey. How long he had been a Cultist is unclear, as is whether the Cult was his other master.

Charles Thurg
Working his way up the Grey Catholic Church, Charles Thurg reached the rank of Arch-Bishop. However he was viewed by many in the Church hierarchy as a threat to their power. In the end Thurg was exiled; but not before annoying the military to the extent that he had to be exiled from his exile. After teaching for a short time, Thurg met the Puppeteer and took on the role of terrorist under the guise of the Shadow. He launched a series of successful attacks against the newly formed Republic and the Moralist government. When the Liberal, James Palmer came to power, Thurg returned to Farmina, but was behead on national television by the short-lived President.

[I]Quotes

Third High Priest: Sodomy is VERY serious crime!

Chancellor Thomas Goth: You’re embargoing us because we speak our opinions, that has to be a first.

Chancellor Thomas Goth: To call socialists thinking beings is a bit over the top. If they could think, they wouldn't be socialists.

Grand Chancellor Tobias Grey: Hell shall be born in Aston. The hand of Satan shall tear open the ground, reach out and drag the Conservatives back into his dark lair. And through this great carnage, the land shall be wiped clean, and the nation of Farmina shall be renewed.

Cultist Preacher: Justinian, in the darkness you will guide us. In your light we shall shine. In your service we are humbled. In your absence we are blind.

All Farminans: In the winter may God keep you safe, in the Spring may he give you glory, in the Summer may His winds blow cool and in the Autumn may the falling leaves never be forgotten. May God bless you Lord President <Use appropriate title> and may he ever watch over you.

President Tobias Grey: The Cultists and Socialists took a gamble. They gambled and lost. As they would have enjoyed the spoils if they were victorious; now they shall pay the price of defeat....Enemies of Farmina, you have seen our metal; now see democracy’s jackboot.

DI Jason Brand: I’m just a DI. No one would believe me if I claimed the President lived in the White Palace.

DI Jason Brand: Only criminals and lawyers mess with police officers; but I repeat myself.

Supreme Commander Varius Aricar: We shalln’t start a fight, but by God’s Will, we shall finish it.

Jamie Palmer: You talk of chess; but I am playing poker!

Jamie Palmer: Why he’s so tasty I could eat him right up.

‘Admiral’ Tucker: If you know of a trap, but enter it anyway, is it still a trap?

Chancellor Phillip Sullivan: In politics we have our differences; but in matters of national security this Parliament is more united than any in the world. We shall fight to defend our democracy and to defeat any invader; and to bring democracy to all the lands of this Earth. President Palmer; the sword of the Moralists is in your hands; our fate rests with you.

Dan Rickhart: On the night of the full moon, my cell shall no longer hold me. I shall slay all those who have imprisoned me; the corridors shall fill with blood and this building shall come to flame. And you my dear, Doctor will die first. You will see your guts fall out of your stomach and the skin peeled from your body. Know that I am coming Doctor and fear me as I should be feared!

Dan Rickhart: I have little time for elite opinion. Elite opinion states either what is too theoretical to be the practical truth or what is too plausible to be the reality of the matter. When elite opinion has become criticised for the two previous; elite opinion then states what has long been obvious to the common man as revolutionary truth.

Chancellor Tobias Grey: I wish Rickhart wouldn’t secretly conduct surgery on me without asking.

President Tobias Grey: Using force is most often rash. Preparing for that use is rarely so.

Dan Rickhart: Follow me heroes of the future.

Dan Rickhart: I have a plan to seize this ship off the tyrant Snyder. Now you can assist me in this effort; or I can put you back in your cell to rot for eternity. If you refuse both those options, my housekeeper will turn you into a fine white powder.

President Tobias Grey: The Farminan people must settle their accounts. Our relationship with the Militia Enforced State has been a long, twisted and hostile road. We are coming to the end of that road. They tried to destroy our Republic and have failed. Now we shall pay back the Militia Enforced State in full...We shall defeat this dictatorship. And it will not be a minor humiliation like the Second Arandior War, this time we shall truly smash them. We will not rest until we break them. This time we will be in at the death and in for the kill!

Field Marshal Graham Salamander: <After capturing MESB Fargo, placing the Messian capital in his grasp> Next stop, Angelas-Francisco!

Justinian the mad? Got to remember that one. What exactly did you do to him? I wasn't able to RP in the unrest thread because of RL constraints (end of year projects for school).

I also noticed Kowalski is not mentioned as a war criminal, has your country changed that much? If so, we'll open some trade with you.

Tobias Grey had Justinian drugged until he was completely delusion; but he completely snapped after his lady friend met an unfortunate end. Justinian was put in protective care and Grey assumed the Emperor's powers, using them to see the Emperor confined to his own room and given medicine that would only make his condition worse. Justinian however escaped with the aid of his remaining allies and escaped to Dumpsterdam just as 'President' Grey was slamming his fist into his remaining opposition.

With regard to you, we already trade (it was a term of the peace treaty), and it was Justinian who dropped any cry of war criminal, but that doesn't mean neither Justinian or the public liked you. And for that reason Grey will be cautious in any dealings with Kowalski just due to public perception.

It strikes me as odd that RP is moderated for that kind of thing. Perhaps they felt you were more living out OOC fantasies about butchering hippies IC; instead of posting "All Hippiez Should Die" in General and getting banned; they thought you were trying to do it in a more covert way.

...Bush appeared with union workers in March 2002 to announce he was slapping a 30% tarriff on imported steel...the fact that steel producing Pennsylvania, Ohio...Michigan were important swing states...Clinton had the courage to tell steel workers free trade was for the greater good I question this, as it didn't stop Clinton increasing farm subsidies...Under Bush the US has lost 13 out of 15 WTO cases Figure out of date...$100b in farm subsidies in August 2002...tariffs on Canadian lumber, wheat and energy...protection for the pharmaceutical industry...
