Portocarrero smiled, and then took out a wedding ring gleaming with the most beautiful gemstones in the world. He had paid over $750,000 for it, and the gems were imported from southern Africa. "Violet, I want you to be my wife," he said, embracing her and sweeping her off her feet. His lips connected with hers in a long, smooth, sweet kiss that left her breathless.
