Well, then you either make your own ships, or you buy from a FT storefront. If you want Star Wars then Huntaer`s storefront is the way to go...i have a storefront for Babylon 5 tech in my signature....and there are others that i dont know about....search the forum or try the International mall to find what you like

To see how much you can spend on buying ships you can use the ThirdGeek calculator. You have 5 billion military budget there, so you can spend this amount of money every day for ships. Many storefronts allow you to make a larger order and pay over multiple years (days).

Here is the link to the budget calculator:

thank you, you have been extremely helpful. two other questions, how do you transfer funds? how does it deduct from youur account and transfer to the storfront account?

Use your own tech. Creating a spaceship really isn't that hard. For instance, if you don't want stats, don't use them. This is an RP, not a techwhoring game, which many FT nations forget.

I mean, pretend you're creating a frigate.

"The FXS-114 is used primarily for light support and carying fuel supplies. It has four laser cannons, and two plasma. A streamlined vessel, it is black, sleek, and has four curved wings, making it look somewhat like an X-Wing from the back. Heavily armored, the craft is difficult to take down, and an enemy would be well advised to destroy other craft, instead, for maximum battle efficiency."

Or:

Name: FXS-114

Weaponry: 4 laser cannons, 2 plasma cannons
Armor - 6 centimetres of titanium alloy.
Engines: Maximum Speed 6/10 Lightspeed.
Weight - 5000 Tons
Mass - 600 M3s

The bottom one is easier, and looks better, but the authoring style tells people what they need to know. For most people on the NS forums, 6/10 lightspeed means nothing. They aren't going to work out complicated equations to see how far their spaceships can move, and they aren't going to care how heavy it is.

An authoring style tells them it's well-armored, has a few weapons, is hard to take down, and looks a bit like an X-wing from the back. This lets them know both of the important factors
1) Comparison Capabilities
2) Looks

People like to be able to imagine enemy ships, as you would when reading a story. Also, stats aren't a good comparison basis. In RPing, "Heavily Armored" is better than "17.344 Cm of titanium and nickel alloy"

Since no-one in FT is going to be more advanced significantly than others, knowing basically what weapons do makes damage easy to estimate.

A space RPer, noticing OMG_Fleet's ship has 35 kilojoules of power from it's main cannons , can just say "My shield has 36 kilojoules." But if it's "A powerful laser cannon", people KNOW it'll do damage to their ship.

Well, that's about it. I advise making your own fleet, as other people can easily exploit bought tech, which is usually the worst the selling nation has.

so theres no limit to the mass, length, sheild, weapons, etc. i just imagine stuff and i can use it?

example:
X-409
Weapons- 600 kilojoule laser, 14 400 megaton nuclear warhead silos, 60 40 kilojoule laser turrets
Sheild- 700 kilojoule
Armor- 4 inch titanium alloy
Power- 2 fusion reactors
weight- 100 tons
length- 50 km

Well, yes, but you have to be fairly realistic.. you can't just claim a 999999 metre ship that is invincible. That's called godmodding, and people will just ignore you and not RP with you. Basically, you're limited to what physics can do and the size of your nation/your economy/budget.

Physics? Hogsweat, physics go out the window first when you talk about FT. We don't have a clue about working spacedy warships and whatnot as of yet. All that is Sci-Fi. We have no idea what weapons and stuff would work out there in real life. Replace "physics" with "reason", plx.

what does the size and economy have to do with it?

Okay, so making a ship that is eight kilometres long turn 180 degrees in seventeen seconds is not phsyics.. the ship would literally rip up.. there is phsyics involved in FT. But reason is probably a better word.

what does the size and economy have to do with it?
For example, you can't put all your citizens to work in creating a battleship.. if your economy is weak and your population small you won't be able to afford a huge project.

I didn't see anyone answer this.

All you have to do is "I would like to buy BLAHLBLAHBLAH"
Then you wait for the owner of the store front to say something like "Order Confirmed."

Technically, when the owner says "Order Confirmed," the money is already transferred though some nations like to to a *Money Wired* type thing just to clarify that they have confirmed that they got the product they bought.

Now, the NS Economy Calculator gives you your military budget which determines how much your military can spend on products. Eventhough there is a record of you buying the product, the money is never subtracted from your budget(which I find somewhat odd).

Hope this helps.

BTW, my store fronts which Calpe has mentioned are located in my sig.

Semantics, man. Everything about FT is Sci-Fi, which is a fancy word for "fantasy in SPAACE". Thing is, all physics don't apply. Stuff like FTL and... Well... Basically 99,99% of the stuff is just purely made up. Just keep the stuff within reason and you'll be fine. And remember that you're not undefeatable if you go to a non-predetermined war.

And I bet with FTL wankage you could turn a ship like that around in a second or something.

(Replying to Hogsweat, by the way.)

I suppose your right. I'm not even an FT RPer anyway :P

Yeah, but it's better to use descriptive words than numbers, almost always.
