A small skirmish between nations

Tolme

In the capitol city of the Republic, Tolme, exciting news was being delivered. In the city square outside the Imperial Palace, Consuls Sallustius Alexander and Gaius Julianus were addressing the nation.

Consul Julianus-"Today, the Imperial Senatre of the Republic has declared a state of war with against our neighbouring nation of Olin. For the past several years, the Olin people have harassed our trade, raided our lands, and insulted our peoples! It has become clear that the our two nations cannot coexist on the same island any longer, and we are not about to abandon our homes! Consul Sallustius Alexander."

Consul Alexander-"Thank you Gaius. It is with great pride that I announce to you our glorious legions are currently at the Tolme/Olin border and are ready to advance into Olin on command. In response to the declaration made by the Imperial Senate this morning, we are placing a blockade on Olin. As a sign of respect, we are asking all people of Olin origin to report to the nearest airport, seaport or train and leave back to Olin. This is to prevent any un needed deaths that may occur from descrimination in response to the war."

Consul Julianus-"We must all do our best to support our brave men on the front, and ask that all citizens remain calm and do not take things into their own hands and kill any Olin people that reside in our nation. Rest assured, this war will be over soon, and we, the people of Tolme, will rule this island as we should have thousands of years ago! For the Republic!"

The two men then saluted the people below them and turned to exit back into the palace.

At the border

"Major Jonas, you are clear to move. Over." came the voice from the radio. A tall man, about in his mid 30's, sat in the back of a half truck with 5 infantrymen and 4 other officers. The major looked over at the officer sitting across from him.

Major Jonas-"Lieutenant, give the order."

Lieutenant Johnson-"Yes, sir."

The lieutenant stood up and blew into a trumpet.

Lieutenant Johnson-"Company! Move!"

Surrounding the half truck was 25 other half trucks; 50 convoy trucks; 17 Abraham tanks; and 60 hummers dragging artillery pieces behind them.
The target? The Olin capitol. If the force could bypass all other defenses and take the capitol, the war would be over with minimal casualties.

(OOC: Well, here's my first ever RP, hope people like it and join in. By the way, if somebody would like to RP as the Olin, that would be fine as it would save me the trouble.)

The convoy continued on it's way towards the Olin capitol, making sure to take back roads and avoid heavily populated areas to avoid detection. It took 5 hours to arrive 5 km outside the city of Olin, capitol of the enemy nation. It was time to set up.

The area selected was a small dirt road with forest on both sides of it. The tanks set up a perimeter; having 2 positioned to watch the forests and the rest watching each side of the road; this made a sort of box around the rest of the convoy. The artillery pieces were set up and sandbags placed for some troops to hide behind.

Major Jonas-"Do we have the coordinates?"

A man was sitting on a large rock working on a computer.

Man on computer-"Yes, sir, satellite imagery has given us the positions of all things within the city."

Major Jonas-"Right. Lieutenant!"

Lieutenant Johnson-"Yes, Major?"

Major Jonas-"Have the artillery fire on the Olin city airfield, barracks, police stations and guard outposts. Private! Give them the coordinates from the satellite."

Man on the computer-"Right Major."

The man scribbled coordinates down onto pieces of paper and went to distribute them amongst the artillery pieces. In a few minutes the artillery sprang to life. The city of Olin was being bombarded to take out all targets that would pose a threat and allow the next wave to move in and secure the city.

The Barkozian government wanted to move on this, but few forces were available. In fact, only one auxiliary destroyer could get there within reasonable time and wasn't tied up in some other situation. Admiral Horvath was originally carrying troops destined for another insurgency, but his superior, Barkassy, ordered him to this one. The first step in one of these operations, of course, is to notify the government.

Olin Gov't,

It seems as though you are in a state of war with an invading power. The Barkozian government will join you in your endeavors to defend your country, but we have not many men to spare. In two hours our ship will enter your territorial waters to drop off about 200 men, an M48 tank, and a couple artillery pieces. More troops will be sent as they become available.

We, the people of Olin, thank you kindly for your efforts and authorise you to enter our territory. Be careful however, as the Tolme fleet has set up a blockade of our nation in an attempt to cut our trade.

President Anthony Walsh

It was time to the second wave. All military targets in the city had been leveled and there would be just a few defenders left to try and push back the Tolme legions.

Major Jonas-"Tolme HQ, this is Major Hanno Jonas, operation "The Sky is Falling" complete. You may begin operation "Birds of Steel." Over."

Tolme HQ-"Roger Major, ETA 5 minutes. Over."

Major Jonas-"Roger HQ. Out."

Jonas walked over to the end of the forest, which was close by because they selected the area to give the artillery a clear view of the city, and took his binoculars to look at the enemy capitol. The Olin had been the superior nation on the island since the biggining, but that had all changed in a matter of minutes.

Five minuets later

The sound of helicopters filled the air as 30 hueys flew over the artillery position and headed towards the city. The birds picked the city square as it was closest to city hall and would allow them to capture the Olin president the fastest.

There were a few guards left, and they tried their best to shoot down the birds, but the gunners made quick work of them. Landing, the 150 infantrymen jumped out and started securing the area, shouting anyone who was armed and screaming at everyone else to get out of here and go back to their homes.

Sergeant Wilson-"Right! Third squad, forth squad, sixth squad, seventh squad, eight squade! Set up a perimeter and secure this square. All the rest of you come with me, we gotta take this building!"

The men did as they were told and went to their locations to set up a perimeter. The men who were assigned to take city hall ran up to the front doors with the Sergeant. Wilso nodded at another soldier and the man quickly opened the door as the rest looked in and fired on 5 armed guards.

Sergeant Wilson-"Secure this room! Secure this room! Second squad, get up onto the second floor and clear it of hostiles. Fifth squad, go up to the third floor and clear it. Ninth squad, move to the roof and give our guys in the square cover. First squad, let's move towards the president!"

The men broke, each squad doing it's assigned task. Sergeant Wilson and his squad ran into the elevator and went up to the fourth and final floor of the building. When the door opened there was 2 more guards waiting, but they were quickly shot down. Moving down the hall, they found another 5 hostiles which they had to dispatch. Arriving at the door to the President's office, 3 of them went to each side of the door while the rest took positions opposite the door and prepared to fire in. A man on the left of the door kicked it open and slammed his back against the wall again as the men opposite the door fired off a couple bursts. They all ran into the room, past the 8 dead guards and over to the president who was sitting at his desk.

Sergeant Wilson-"President Anthony Walsh, we have the building surrounded. Come with us immeadiatly, there's an airstrike ordered on this building in ETA 10 minutes."

President Walsh-"Damn you Tolmans! Damn you all to hell! You think you've won don't you? You think this war is over?"

Sergeant Wilson-"Once we get you back to Tolme and make you sign a surrender, then it will be."

President Walsh-"No it won't be. Our fifth army is currently moving in on your artillery position and the rest are making preparations to invade your Republic. We also have a friendly nation coming to our aid, and they will blow through your pitiful navy."

Sergeant Wilson-"Once you surrender, your forces will stand down."

President Walsh-"No they won't. If you kill me, another will take my place. We will never surrender to your rule."

Sergeant Wilson-"We haven't got time for this."

He smacks Walsh on the head with the butt of his rifle and signals to one of his troops to pick him up. Moving down to the bottom floor, all the squads once again regrouped before leaving the building and into the square where the rest of the troops and the heli's were. They threw the President onto a bird and everyone loaded the choppers and took off.

Just in time too, as they got out of the city, a group of F-21 Raptors flew by and launched a few missiles into the city hall, leveling it to the ground.

At the artillery position

Major Jonas-"Come on you bastards! Get moving!"

He shouted out from his half truck at the slow progress of the hummers loading up the artillery. It took half an hour to load up and be on their way. They took backroads again and even took detours through logging roads to avoid enemy patrols. They crossed the border out of Olin just before midnight.
Tichang

The High Commander of the Army of Tichang scanned his morning briefing. After looking it over several times, he paged his secretary. "Ms. Casteel, please arrange for me to have a meeting with the President as soon as possible. This could get big."
**Some hours later**
The High Commander sat in the chair offered him by the presidents secretary. "Tolmean forces invaded Olin last night, and have established control over the capital for the moment. The way I see it, we have three options. Assist Tolme in the hopes we can strike a favourable land-share deal with them when we win, stand back and wait for more countries to land on one side of the other, or help the Olin remnant in re-taking their country." Tichang's president shifted in his seat, then declared "Let's hang back, but get troop carriers and naval forces in the area in case we have to move quickly. Oh, and put the air force on the highest state of alert." The High Commander straightened, stood up, saluted, and walked out of the room.

IC:

President Walsh-"So, the small Republic of Tolme has finally backed up their threats to do something if we didn't stop commendeering trade ships. Risky, you should no better than that."

Consul Alexander-"Shut up Walsh. The Olin people have become too high on themselves, and it's time for them to know who controls this island. Now sign the damn surrender!"

President Walsh-"Fine, fine. For all the good it will do you, I'll sign. But the Olin people won't just sit back and be happy under your laws and government."

Consul Julianus-"We know that, that's why after you sign the surrender, we're sending in military forces to ensure things stay peaceful until we can be sure the Olin won't revolt."

Walsh jotted down his signature on the document infront of him.

Consul Julianus-"Excellent. Consul Alexander, are you ready to deliver the speech?"

Consul Alexander-"Yes. This way Walsh."

The three men went out the doors and onto the balcony to deliver another speech. The thousands of people in the crowd below cheered as their leaders emerged. Julianus put his arms up to signal for them to be quiet.

Consul Julianus-"Citizens of Tolme! It is with great honour that I announce to you our great victory! In less than a day, we have captured the Olin president and just now, he has signed the surrender of the Olin nation!"

Consul Alexander-"The war is over! But the struggle is not. We are ordering the 4th and 7th armies to move into the new province of the Empire and keep the peace to assure that our assets are protected. It is a great day today, we have finally taken control of the entire island! And can now concentrate our attention on others, for peace or expansion! That is all."

With that, the three men returned into the palace to a group of awaiting preatorian guards.

Consul Alexander-"Mr. Walsh, for your crimes against the Empire, you are being arrested and imprisoned for life at our maximum security facility in Enton. These men will escort you there."

Walsh nodded and dropped his head. He swallowed his pride and walked away with the preatorians to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Your recent deployment of naval forces into Tolme territorry was done illegally and is therefore an aggressive act. We humble ask that you withdraw your forces from our territorial waters and return to your nation. Failure to comply will be seen as an act of war and will be met with swift retaliation.

Signed,

Consul Sallustius Alexander

OOC: That was completely misunderstood by me, i'll delete my post. I didn't really want a post of two lines, though.

My major apologies.

However, i'm going to have to call a bit of bullshit here. You're a nation of 5 million people. You seem to have a rather large navy AND army for that, though. I misunderstood that you had not moved in the entire army to occupy the region and that this was merely an order given.

(OOC: Ok, I'll delete my post too to allow you to change what your doing. Plus I don't have that big of an military. The island I'm on is rather small and that is my entire navy, like I already said and my army isn't that big either.)

OOC: Okay, this chronology is wacky. To have a blockade within 2-3 hours of war, and have a country occupied in 8 hours is complete godmod. I could understand Olin being surprise attacked and shattered, but I don't see how you could even have the area well-occupied within a day, even with no resistance.

Anyway, maybe someone better could arbitrate this?

(OOC: Once again, it's a small island. You could drive from one end of it to the other in 10 hours. Plus my forces are still going to Olin, they haven't arrived at their stations yet. Plus I'm going a bit fast, I'm saying it's already been a day since the invasion occured.)
