Clan Ansu
09-07-2005, 16:13
OOC: The Clan has been requested to perform this attack by an unnamed organisation, who will move in after the conflict has been resolved. Or not, depending on any intervention. The planet in question is NOT another player. Also, it is NOT the prime target. It's a staging area for an attack on Ythrimir III, an industrial world. Oh, and they're humans. I'm not going to bother making up a race for this.
IC:
Ythrimir IV
Ythrimir System (Non-Republic)
Sunlight broke over the wide fields of Ythrimir IV. Sleepy-eyd pilots made their way to the great, skeletal machines with which they tended their crops. Ythrimir IV was the sole supplier for the entire food-stocks of Ythrimir III, the most densely populated world in the system.
But today the skies boiled black. Distant lightning could be seen and heard. Normally clear, great dark clouds covered the western sky, and most returned home early. The steel-frame machines would be at risk during the storm, and were dissasembled to be put into storage.
-----
Bryn Ansu gripped the hull of his Basilisk War Droid (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=428650) and awaited the launch. At aged nineteen, this was the single most exhilirating moment of his life. A sudden burst of static in his ear signalled the beginning.
FIVE...
Bryn rechecket his oversuit, the only thing which would stand between him and the vacuum of space.
...FOUR...
The droid bay depressurised, and he felt a rush in his stomach as the artificial gravity was cut.
...THREE...
A hiss of steam, and the doors in front of Bryn's Droid opened sideways. Below him was the target world of Ythrimir IV, hanging unsupported in the black of space.
...TWO...
Bryn gripped the handles.
...ONE...
He blinked.
...LAUNCH
The clamps holding his droid into it's bay were released, and the thrusters kicked in automatically. Bryn was dragged forward by the huge droid, beginning the drop onto the unsuspecting world. A fifteen kilometre fall through the atmosphere as Ythrimir IV rushed up to meet him...
-----
The clouds broke, and thirty points of light tore trough. They curved before they hit the ground, and raced along, a mere twenty metres above the ground. Bryn wrenched at the controls, and his Basilisk leapt into the air. He levelled it's weapons and blasted a hab-building into oblivion.
Families ran from their doors, to be greeted by death at the hands of Mandalorian guns. The bunkers in which their harvesting machines were kept were cracked open, fuel-stores were destroyed, spraying their burning contents over the area.
Great shafts of light signalled the start of the orbital bombardment, as a pair of Vanguard Class Cruisers (http://rpggamer.org/shippics/vanguardcruiser.jpg) turned their weapons on the most heavily-populated areas. Cities were razed, and the few military installations on the world were swamped by the superior Mandalorian Claw Class Fighters (http://rpggamer.org/shippics/claw.jpg). Barely a single Ythrimir craft left the ground.
Hope was a luxury that the Ythrimiri could not afford.
