As the title implies, I was looking for a few good men (or women. Or hermaphrodites. I'm not picky.) to have a future-tech ground war with. Yes, this means no space ships. We'd be using the standard assortment of FT ground vehicles: mechas, titans, hover tanks, power armored infantry, etc. WMDs would be banned, as they tend to lead to godmodding, as are orbital bombardments. While I'd prefer to disallow the use of Bolos and similarily uber tanks and such, if you insist, I don't mind.

NOTE: Aircraft ARE allowed in a limited support role, hopefully mostly as transport (aerial calvary, etc.).

SheVa guns actually aren't that good as far as sci-fi tanks go. Don't get me wrong, they're great for targeting slow-moving landers the size of office buildings, but unless you load them with nuclear shells (or use the Bun-Bun's Metalstorm upgrades from Hell's Faire) your giant artillery piece is going to be pretty impotent against ground forces.

Curses, now you've got me all curious. I use primarily my own original equipment too, so I would like to hear about yours.

Otagia: I'd be willing to join this, but I'd prefer to be on your side if at all possible, seeing as how you're my ally and all. :)

Well I can't tell you much about my tech, as it's classified, but I can tell you that I use highly advanced pure energy weapons that could destroy planets in single shots.

I'm already in a rediculous uber-war, so not sure what my forces would do in something like this. Besides, I like my uber-ground weapons I made for myself. =^^=

But pure energy weapons that can destroy planets in a single shot: Yeah, I have those too. Mounted on my warships. Surely you don't use something that powerful for ground combat though, right? You'd destroy the ground you're fighting over.

Megaton weapons are really the highest you can go in planetary combat.

Not that powerful, but I have artillery that can create pretty large craters. I even have weapons that only kill people and leave everything else unharmed.

I would like to be a part of this war, and am excited by the prospect of a FT land war.

Megaton? Depends on if a big enough Zircon self-destructs. (The buggers are learning kamikaze tactics.) A gigaton or greater explosion could theoretically be RPed well, but likely not here. ^_^

I'd really look forward to this. Give me a chance to stretch my legs for my return to NS and test my new setup.

Right, sorry for the long wait for my reply, just moved into the dorms here at my college, and didn't bring a PC. Now I must rely upon the inferior technology of the computer lab. Anyway, If anyone is still interested, please post your MSN addy so we can organize this better.

PS: And yes, CF, I was referring more to your brand of uber-bolo. Anything that can take most of an average planet's defense force single-handedly is a bit overpowered, dontcha think?

My tech level is currently postmodern; limited space travel, wide use of high-velocity linear guns (a rail gun variant).

I do use nuclear weapons, but nothing bigger than 1.5kt and only against targets that would be too much trouble to handle with conventional weapons.

Energy weapons are utilized in only two fashions: as part of my SDI network, and as part of a large bulky portable particle cannon that's powered by an external power beam from an orbiting microwave transmission station.

Armored vehicles as a rule focus almost entirely on high speed and low armor, basically operating as linear gun carriers to allow me to bring anti-armor firepower anywhere on the field quickly.

I do field one gigantic super heavy assault tank (800 tons or so) that has a veritable arsenal of weapons and almost a meter of highly advanced PM-tech armor (I managed to impress an FT nation with them :p )

My air force largely consists of gigantic fusion powered 'airships', which are heavily armored craft studded with all sorts of weapons, sacrificing stealth and maneuverability for toughness and firepower. Smaller craft generally take the form of UAVs and so forth.

Infantry is equipped with caseless weapons and slight advances on 20th century body armor. No mecha or powered suits are in use.

I also don't have any shield technology or anything like that :p

Seriously, every war I have been in has never made it to ground combat, which is the Pinical of Tsurani power, and also allows me to show people how fun the Tsurani Truly are. When your only troops that don't have the possiblity of Withdrawing are the Emperors Personal troops and Charon, it makes for fun

Looks like a Bolo, I'm less impressed than I was. I like my two uber-tanks, Sonny and Bun-Bun, respectively unit Surplus On Loan 3 and SheVa Gun Number 9, Sonny is also known as Lonesome Sun, and if you can figure out the joke and the reference I'll give you a cookie.

You might have to wait in line. We're full up I think, and have Lessir Tsurani and Proud Marxists lined up (in that order) in case someone drops out.

Ok, since he's bringing in the Bolo, I'm going to have to change my forces a little, instead of a planetary swarm, I'll send a heavy assault brood, with Terran and Protoss backup, including SheVa gun number 9, and BOLO unit SOL 3(still waiting for someone to get the joke).

That means I'm changing my forces from 3-350k slivers\brood-mutants, to 200k slivers, and 100k ACS\Protoss.

Likely on the order of...

550,000 Zircon
-At least 500 of which will initially be Juggernauts.
-100,000 Workers
9,000 Zaten'shyrels (Aerospace Units - Tsthathi Air Support)
1,500 "Knights of Seething Blood" (Mekantan Elites)

Ok so my forces are still unknown as well. I'm guessing about 100,000- 130,000 troopers range plus extra eqiuipment.

My forces will probably include a Glitter Boy Legion (15,000 GBs of varying styles), an aerial infantry legion (15,000 soldiers in Gladius power armor), several "deadboy" legions (light infantry power armor) and a dozen or so Centuries of tanks. Subject to change, obviously, especially to include some bio-construct shock troops.

So, nobody has problems with the teams then?

They seem good, at least so far. Again, more brainstorming will be needed post ideas here, or talk to me on MSN.

So when are we starting this?

As soon as we finally come up with a semi-decent plot. So, most likely, soon.

Oh man... it's so not cool that i can't join. Are you sure there's not room for one more? Prehaps we can make this into a series of RPs, since nobody ever really does groud wars in FT. Everybody is only concerned with what happens in Space to their 2km long phali.

Well, I have an idea for the RP, I know that Mekanta hates slivers, so he has a good reason to deal with my guys in an extremely terminal manner, and my hive has to expand eventually, so I'm thinking that I could be looking for the planet to put a new colony on, there could be some kind of valuable mineral or such, making it a good planet for everyone else to take.
