"Help-A-Nation"

I just thought it would be somewhat cool to make a thread where nations could volunteer to take new nations who want help under there wings for a bit, so what do you guys think? This is mainly a OOC help thing, although should you want to you could provide IC support for the nation your helping (military help, economic help, etc.)

Once you decide to help a nation have that nation TG me with who is helping them, of course you could have more then one nation giving help to one.

Geez, I guess I'm not really sure what to ask about. I've read most of the stickies that I've seen, although due to the sheer number of them I may have missed a few.

The main things I'd like to know, I supose, would be how to establish my currently small (FT-wise) country and expand it without accidentally godmodding.

Also, I'd like to hear insights on storefronts, finances, and especially about the history of the major nations in this forum.

As to storefronts, you'll need to ask someone else, as I don't use them or deal with them.

As to expanding you should start with one maybe two systems. Then as you grow you can explore the universe and as you progress claim systems. I'd suggest maybe a system per 25-50 million people.
Also if your FT, you have to decide if you want to be an 'old' FT nation or a 'young' FT.
An old FT would already have hyper/whatever you choose to call it drive. Also it would probably be the remenants of a collapse society.
A young FT would still be working on mastering hyperdrive and would be newer to space.

Ah, yes. I'm planning for DCN to have been founded by several waves of colonists from an "old"-class civilization. Do you have AIM, by any chance?

Oh, and I'm taking volunteers for people to help me run this, I have baseball this month, and a trip on the 23rd, and I'll be gone for 18 days in august. I'm looking for at least 2, maybe up to 4 volunteers to help out.

Ok, lets see, Storefronts, my advice says the various Star Forge storefronts are the best, but only if you like SW or 40k tech, for anything else you have to make it yourself.

For history there are two really major alliances, the Alliance of Naggaroth, and the Galactic Empire, respectively abbreviated as AoN and GE, depending on wether you're planning on being good or evil you should probably join AoN, they're a bit more helpful, and less likely to attack each other for no apparent reason.

Finances is the tricky, there's two routes to take, my way, and the other way, my way involves swarms of small to medium size ships, with a few uber-ships for balance, but, then you have alot of ships, each with little individual power, but together they're pretty strong. The other, and more common, way is to focus on larger and more powerful ships, then you have more individual power, but less mobility. I'll be happy to answer any questions that arise from this later.

I'll help out a newbie if you want, although I probably wouldn't have time for any more than one. Unfortunately, in my experience these schemes tend to be unsuccesful due to lack of students. Maybe this one will be different...
