ARRACON CAMPUS, RANDOM KINGDOM - Today the Department of Spatial Research, Arracon Research Institute, New Corranburg (formerly Little Ascotia, formerly also Victory Point, and also Little Peace) announced that it would be taking over the Random Kingdom Space Project.
Along with the benefits that come with a larger development team and better resources, the Arracon campus has access to a prototype of the third-generation Random Kingdom Institution Collaboration Server, a networking technology pioneered back in the 2000s, and is still used today for larger products, however, the "Yggdrassil" (the second-gen codename; the first network was nicknamed "Matrix") server is now full of technological information, and after the Farmina War of the 2020s has been lost and can only be added to, and therefore the project has until now been closed to all but the project team. However, the RKICS is already functional and can transfer to the old network, which means that any institute, once given the correct equipment, can fully utilize it.
On its own this isn't major news, but the major advantage of the new server is that it can also transfer to ordinary Internet connections, so long as the correct password is given. This means that anybody, inside OR outside Random Kingdom can contribute to the project, or even pull information from the project, given the institute's permission. Of course, the project is in its infancy, so it is of little use to any other projects yet, but later in time, the files may prove useful to upstarts with enough cash and resources to produce the technology themselves. It also allows more sophisticated nations to pull a concept, add their own technology, and either use the tech for themselves or contribute it back to the pool.
It will take a while for the current information to be stored on hard copy on the new network, codenamed "Bifrost", and even longer for useable technology to be available. Available technology may be posted here...
