It was announced earlier today that the Naval Department will establish a Naval Base of Operations in Guinea Bassau. The Navy will close its Base in India and transfer the 7th MEF to this new location. In addition, this base will house a contengency of no less than two aircraft carrier battle groups and three Submarine Attack Groups will be transferred to this location from the Richards Bay Submarine Base in South Africa. It is expected a new state of the art dry dock ship repair facility will be included in the construction models. While size of this facility was not discussed in the press conference, it would rival the Base recently completed in Papua New Guinea. Expected time of construction is 8 years at a cost of 100 billion dollars.
