Crushing the Insurrection (Open)

The Court of Emperor Tryleem IV

The Emperor's court was alive with activity of all sorts. Aides came and went, advisors conversed, servents dispensed food and drink and security troops mulled about, keeping a close watch on those gathered to attempt to hold audience with the Emperor. But none would be granted today, the Emperor was to make a decision on a decades-old issue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
For nearly thirty years the Ingian minority on the Empire's eastern border region had been in armed insurrection. The Ingians, barely 1% of the Empire's population, hadn't been considered a large threat. The government deployed few forces to cordon the area, but nothing else. The government never bothered to crush the rebellion in it's early stages, having never accorded the Ingians enough attention. To make matters worse the location of the rebellion, the Eastern Mountains, are virtually impassable to conventional military forces. The only way in are the few roads which lead to the few population centers. Rather than risk casualties in a politically sensitive time, the government simply cordoned off the area and allowed the Ingians to form a "liberated zone".

The situation stayed the same for nearly three decades, with only occassional raids or recons-in-force being launched by either side. Now, however, the Imperial authority has unquestioned rule in Talaax. The only opposition is offered by the tiny Ingian Free Country of the Eastern Mountains. It's only a matter of time before the rebellion is crushed.

Trumpets sounded in the large courtroom of the Emperor. Immediately the room fell silent and all eyes turned toward the throne. A herald made the announcement to all those in attendance as the Emperor slowly made his way to the throne.

His Most Gracious Emperor Tryleem IV! Silence immediately! He is to speak!

With that the Emperor straightened in his throne, turning his gaze towards those kneeling before him. He reveled in the fear he inspired amongst all his subjects. Fear meant control. Control meant power. His power.

For too long our eastern border has been threatened by an insurrection. We will no longer put up with this threat. We can no longer put up with this threat. Today we shall crush the last vestige of anti-Imperial force in the Empire. The Ingians shall be crushed. The Imperial Armed Forces are even now moving to crush this rebellion. We will show everyone that no one can stand against the tide of Imperial power. No quarter shall be given. This rebellion will be crushed once and for all!

With that the Emperor stopped, coughing uncontrollably. He was an old man now, unused to talking for so long. Not wanting to show his frailty, the Emperor recovered quickly. The room applauded, both out of agreement with the Emperor and fear of the Tal Shiar guards present. Not applauding would likely mean arrest and interrogation or worse. As the Emperor finished speaking the military high commanders left the room to join their staffs and turn the Emperor's words into reality.

Eastern Mountains

Three weeks later the Imperial Army had arrayed itself for a general offensive against the Ingians. Unaware of what exactly was happening, but all too aware of the recent build up of forces opposite them, the Ingians were preparing for the worst. The Ingian commanders had issued orders for frontline troops to prepare to withdraw deeper into the mountains and secondary defensive lines had been started behind the lines.

At dawn, early in July, the sky was suddenly filled with military aircraft of all sorts. Bombers overflew the virtually defenseless Ingians, moving to attack their supply dumps, pinpointed in advance by Tal Shiar infiltration teams. Fighter-Bombers and Attack Aircraft pounded the Ingian frontline in conjunction with artillery. After an hour of bombardment, 36 divisions, 30 Infantry, 2 Armoured and 4 Mechanised, moved into the attack along the two main roads. The Ingian front began to crumble immediately. The Ingian army disintegrated almost immediately. Many fled into the mountains at the mere sound of aircraft. For the most part, casualties were nil. Within 6 weeks the entire Ingian Free Country was under Imperial occupation. However, the battle with the Ingians was not over yet. With the conventional war over with, a new and deadlier guerrilla war has begun to surface. This will likely be a long and costly for both sides.

OOC: Basically, anyone who wants to can fund and supply the guerrillas. Limited, mostly special forces, support is also acceptable. This is open to anyone.

Due to the mountains it took our ships alot longer to land but they have. The 300 troops from Zactarn Prime are here, ready to fight. There are 30 transports carrying the majority of troops coming that will arrive in 2 hours or so. We will mobilize toward Talaax and bring peace to the rebels

OOC: I'm going to have to ask you to rewrite those posts. You can't post that an action went through without me interfering unless I give permission. You can post that your forces are en route etc, but not that they have done such and such inside my territory.

Also, the Ingians are rebelling against Imperial Talaaxian authority. They're fighting for independence.
