OOC: This is mostly in response to the construction of the Star Dreadnought (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=425432) , and the weapon yields featured by the ships guns. It is also to combat the massive fleets of Star Destroyers used by many nations compared to the realtively small number of ships I use. However I can't know about that IC so this is just another R&D thread plus construction. You can find my current stats for ship in the Scellia Factbook (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=428449). Before commenting please at least read the Dimensional Technology section. This is all, of course, secret and merely for comments.

Project Apaci

Background: Due to the continuingly better understanding of the laws governing the fabric of dimensional space Scellian scientists hope to create a second generation of more powerful Dimensional Generators of all types. This combined the the refinement in the techniques used to create the assorted effects achieved by Dimensional Generators means that a 2nd generation of Dimensional Generators is ready for the engineering stages. This means working out a large variety of technical and theoretical issues, that a large amount of time and energy must be devoted to. Project Apaci was specifically created to implement the various different possibilites inherent in the currently theoretical technologies.

Objectives:
1. Increase all current Dimensional Weaponry Generators equivelent power levels by one order of magnitude as well and increase rounds per minute without significant increase in mass requirements. Current weapons and RPMs are as follows...
Mark-0: 10 Gigatons; 600 RPM
Mark-1; 200 Gigatons; 240 RPM
Mark-2; 500 Gigatons; 180 RPM
Mark-3; 2 Teratons; 120 RPM
Mark-4; 10 Teratons; 80 RPM
Mark-5; 50 Teratons; 60 RPM
Mark-6; 100 Teratons; 20 RPM
Mark-7; 1 Petaton; 2 RPM

2. Increase the current Dimensional Fold Shield tolerances by one order of magnitude without significant increase in mass requirement.
3. Increase maximum Dimensional Power Generator output perportionally to shield and weapon power increases while retaining same standards of safety.
4. Create two new weapon sizes to be called the Mark-8 and Mark-9 and shall be of equivelent firepower over the current Mark weaponry. Class power will be announced with the actual yields achieved by objective 1.

Estimated Completion RL Date: August 8th

Project Aldur

Background: To house the new classes of weapons from Project Apaci a new Super Dreadnought class is needed, to first supplement and then replace the current Super Dreadnought class. Only one of the new class of ship will be needed, and be of approximately the same size as the Super Dreadnought IV but have heavier armor, shields and weapons.

Objectives:
1. Construction of a successor to the Super Dreadnought IV to be named the Super Dreadnought V and constructed within the same timeframe as Project Apaci.
2. Must house both Mk-8 and Mk-9 weapons and be of equal size to the SD IV, however it shall not be larger then the SD IV. Specifics shall be announced once more information is availible.

Estimated Completion RL Date: August 8th

ooc: I'm not the type that obsess about exact numbers and measurements, so please enlighten me as to why you disapprove of his tech.

Construction has begun on the a second Superdreadnought V, still no official projections have been released but unoffical estimates say that estimated new yields for the heavier weapons are above expected but smaller weapons are having greater difficulty. It has been released that an estimated run of fifteen on these ships will be produced, contruction being staggered every two years. From completion of the first SD V, the Aldur, fourteen others will come into commision every two years until all fifteen have entered commision.

((OC- Personally I'm open to all this. FT never 'has' to be that real to moi to really work. The catch is rping it all effectively, and not just post a bunch of tech stats.))

True, but it can fun to make up stats to go along with the RPing. I just use stats as a way to compare against other technologies, like the ever popular SW stuff. I use a VERY small number of very powerful ships, unlike the massive swarms fo SDs I see a lot of places.

((OC- http://www.freewebs.com/gaianknight/index.htm

I use very large groups of ships of all sizes, from normal to the immense 30 to 500 kilometer monoliths, my A-SSD Warships. Everything in my realm is powerful, effiecent, effective, and projects the power and image of the Ascendancy with ready capability.

For a realm of my size, extended over an entire Intergalactic Supercluster over 300 million light-years in size, 700 million light-years away from the Milky Way galaxy, the power is very much needed by simple fact of sheer scale.

..wana rp together? =^^= ))

It might be intersting to RP together, but I might want to use the Old Empire. If you read my factbook you'll see that I'm just a faction that is lost from the old Empire of Scellia, a colonyship using experimental tech that didn't go quite right. Currently I have over a hundred ships 50 times the size of Earth for planets, and thats it. The Old Empire has a lot more, if you're intersted in the Old Empire finding you then we can RP like that. Otherwise I can use the New Empire, but it would be rather small for something that inhabits a supercluster. I haven't really read the whole war of destruction thread, if it isn't going well then maybe we could have an Old Empire/Ascendancy Discovery/Diplomacy thread that will allow the Old Empire to help you. If it is going well then we can work something else out.

I'm thinking in terms of megatons. When I hear the word "exaton", I get a little nervous. But like I said elsewhere, it's best to just ignore the stated power levels when comparing.

SW tech is low teraton for heavy turbolasers, and that seems to be the most prevelent tech here.

Eh? How small?

SW tech is low teraton for heavy turbolasers, and that seems to be the most prevelent tech here.

Most NSers use high megatons to low gigatons as their main guns. I'm an exception as I use a similar fleet doctrine to you. (Quality rather than quantity.)

Anyway, even the SW people that I've seen, either through conscious descision or simple ignorance do not use the teraton level heavy turbolasers.

I think that I have less then 300 ships total, much closer to 200. Versus the tens of thousands of Star Destroyers I've seen used that is a very small number. So NS SW people use the light turbolasers for heavies, strange.

OOC: I'm not going to continually post until August Eigth every time I lay down a new SD V, you can assume that I do. Also CF, I have exactly 272 warships before this post and 399 ships total not including incidentals.

Amid the massive swirl of the galaxies that comprised the few Dimensions owed by the Scellian Empire activity began to stir. It wasn't very often that the Cityships ever came together in more then twos and threes, but throughout the Scellian domain more and more Cityships met in systems across millions of lightyears.

Then parts of those systems began to vanish into the maws of the Scellian cities, planets torn apart by unstoppable force and sucked into the bowels of the mighty ships. The wheels of industry had started to turn, the threat of war loomed on the horizon, the first major war the Empire had been threatened with. Within each Cityship fleets were beginning to be assembled, the begins of a truly powerful fleet lay within the bellies of the Scellian Cityships as more and more of the industrial might of the Empire was turned towards creating weapons of war.

Overnight a wartime footing was established, and project considered only mildly interesting became vitally important. R&D hit a new height, where there had once been thousands of scientists there where now millions. The Super Dreadnought V was left at the same rate of production while the rest of the fleet was built. However the increases in technology advanced much more rapidly as the full support of the Empire was put behind implementing the theoretical technology.

Estimated yields were established, and an updated time was provided as to completion dates. The Empire girded itself for war, and the scores of ships were soon to be joined by even more.
