Adaman Ore smelting: 0/15
Smelting of this legendary metal will provide unbreakable armor possiblities.

Darksteel Ore smelting: 0/3
Twice as strong as steel and half the weight, this steel is resistant to heat and sturdy.

Mythril Ore smelting: 0/5
From Elven lore this 'true silver' is a much more desirable metal for luxury items if it can be smelted properly.

Current funding allows 5 points per NS year to be used towards these projects.

Adaman Ore smelting: 0/15
Smelting of this legendary metal will provide unbreakable armor possiblities.

Darksteel Ore smelting: 1/3
Twice as strong as steel and half the weight, this steel is resistant to heat and sturdy. The ore continues to resist, but has become closer to being turned into an ingot, the process is still flawed, adding chunks of iron appears to allow for a greater strength.

Mythril Ore smelting: 4/5
From Elven lore this 'true silver' is a much more desirable metal for luxury items if it can be smelted properly. The metal is extremely easy to melt down and craft with. The mythril dust can be sprayed on jewelery or made into earrings and shields. The ornate properties of this metal make it extremely luxurious. Smelting of it has almost been completed, the weight is heavier then silver, but the green metal needs to simply be compressed into ingots now.

Current funding allows 5 points per NS year to be used towards these projects.

OOC: Ah how unbreakable is Adamantine exactly? Just wondering specifics. Also I know this is a pretty n00b question... But how long is an NS month/year?

(OOC: Typically, people like to say it's 1 real life day, but... Since time here is pretty much fluid, it's not always the case.

About the Adamantine, Tanthan's also my RL friend, and since he's been around here for a while, and he tries sometimes times to be more or less fair, I'd say that it's strength is whatever the circumstances of an RP say it is.)

Most people have 1 RL Day = 1 NS Year. Adamantine really never has had well thought out stats, but I'll go find my DnD book that I bought just for Morrowind armor and equipment ideas (don't actually play the game or know anyone that does, but the stuff in the book interested me) and list its stats.

I'm going to go by the unbreakable part of it, cause it is a mystical metal, sometimes magical even, but the thing is, since it can be melted, it can be destroyed with heat. Plasma, laser, heat, gravity weapons will all affect this greatly past a temperature of around 4000 F. So for conventional weapons it acts a perfect shield from flying debris, but is useless in space since lasers and other energy based weapons make metal hot, and thus melting it or breaking through. In this case, melting a hole right through. It is not a big deal really, harder to break stuff exists in NS, and carbon nanotubes are one of them.

Adaman will still have to behave like regular matter, heat will just destroy it, friction, like from ramming will dent the rest of the ship and also destroy it that way by pressure. Heat destroys it, but the shell will still retain its normal shape. Often making perfect shields for other ships to hide behind until it is melted away. A physical shield rather then energy shield.

(OOC: Heh, like I said, more or less, kinda fair.)

Lol, besides I am not going to make ships out of this crap! It's heavy and one smash or a few laser fire will eat right through. This is more for body armor on heavy troops and heavy ground assault weapons. Still because of the tough outer shell it means it won't be troop friendly.

example: The old muscle cars, they wouldn't take any severe damage on the outside, but the insides and riders would be smashed badly.

Same thing applies, but since the inside is pretty soft and only non-moving parts can have the adaman plating it won't be total. Any flexing part will be exposed, any inside will also be exposed, pressure (bombs and other stuff) will cause the insides to blow out.

The thing is kinda like WWII Tiger Tanks, they are extremely heavy and hard to destroy. Get at the soft underside or moving parts and they are gone. Pressure differences from bombs that go off will also cause the adaman plating to blow off or in as the outside has to meet the pressure or else break.

Kinda like a tornado and a house, if air pressure is equal less damage will be done then a tightly sealed weak house, which the pressure differences would cause it to be completely blown out.

This metal is by no means a special or godmodding thing. Its annoying to use but the protection it can give in small amounts is well enough to make it better then many other types of armor, but it has pretty big weaknesses to.

Yeah, yeah, examples.

Look, if you try a different way of making parts out of this stuff, you can avoid half of those problems. forging, stamping, high pressure forming, etc...

But that doesn't matter...

Since I'll probably just end up making a weapon that stops the flow of electrons that keeps the molecules of the metal bonded together...
(Metals are bonded by the flowing of electrons between them.)

Oh wait, I already have one. And by one I mean at least [30] ...

Good thing you have those Force shield things, or else your space navy would have been screwed from the start.

And we're also allies... Damn... lol.
