Inchon Rocket Launch Facility, North Korea
Dr. Peng gazed out at the massive rocket on the platform. “It looks so much different than it did on paper” he thought. Having spent the last 20 years of his life designing the rocket that would carry North Koreans into space for the first time, he had all but memorized the schematics for the device.
The launch facility was filled with cameras from the state media ministry for use in propaganda later and it looked as modern as any comparable facility in other nations. But just outside the view of the cameras, the grizzly truth stood out against the barren landscape: Inchon Detention Center. Peng shuddered. After the failure of 2 previous space attempts, he had been thrown in Inchon for 2 years, and seen firsthand what happened for failure. “I was lucky..” he thought. Had he not been so important, he’d have simply been shot. Now though, his wife and son were in that horrid place, and the “glorious leader” had conveyed, in not so subtle terms, what would happen to them if this rocket did not make it into space.
“Dr., it’s time”, said his assistant Lin. Lin was a tall man, but very skinny. “Funny”, thought Peng, “even the scientists are hungry”, though he would never say such a thing.
After a stroll through the corridors up to the observation tower, the final countdown had already begun.
5 minutes left. Peng took a deep breath.
3 minutes later…
“Yi-7, you’re too high!!”, yelled Chen, “get back down!”. If the operation was going to succeed, they would have to stay below the DPRK’s radar as long as possible. “Damned rookie” he thought. Of all those in his squadron, Chen was the only one to have seen combat, and that was years ago when South Korea had still resisted the Japanese Empire. Chen didn’t like remembering those days. Since those times, his country had become a “voluntary ally” with Japan, which basically meant the country was officially free to do whatever it wanted… as long as Japan approved. Either way, he had to forget such things for the moment. “Radar lock!” said one of his wingmen.
“Weapons free! Fire at will!!” responded Chen.
Off in the distance, Peng saw something moving in the sky. “They weren’t supposed to be filming from the air were they?”, he asked. Before he could get an answer, he saw one of the missile streaking toward the rocket. “Oh no…” he muttered. When the missile hit the side of the rocket, it exploded into a small ball of flame. A split second later, the rocket’s fuel caught fire, and the ball of flame that resulted instantly consumed the launch pad and the shockwave blew out the windows in the tower. Peng was thrown back into the wall. Before going unconscious, his last thought was “I hope it kills me”.
2 days later, World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina
“This is outrageous!!!”, said representative Chang and he rose to his feet in protest, “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s space program was entirely peaceful in nature! The ROK was completely unjustified in its unprovoked, unilateral attack and we demand formal apology and full compensation for this travesty!”. Chang knew he was lying through his teeth, that his government had every intention of eventually using its space program as a weapon, but it hadn’t yet and that was what counted. “We appeal to the World Forum for support in this! The DPRK is prepared to defend itself from foreign aggression, and we must reiterate this!”
“What is outrageous is your claims of innocence Mr. Chang!”, barked South Korea’s representative, who’s name Chang had forgotten. “Surely the world will not be fooled by this nations lies! Yes, I say lies! Kim’s corrupt government has lied to us time and time again!”
Representative Molotov couldn’t help but notice his counterpart from Japan smiling sheepishly on the other side of the room. As Chimehra’s voice to the world, Molotov picked now to interrupt. “Comrades! The People’s Republic of Chimehra must concur with the DPRK! Our own intelligence services, as well as the committees from this very body I might add, have concluded that there was no military hardware present on the Jong rocket that was destroyed! Regardless, if these two nations will not peacefully resolve the matter, we submit that an international peacekeeping force be sent to the peninsula to oversee resolution. We fear that if this does not happen, full scale war on the Korean Peninsula may be the result. If this body does not see fit to intervene, then the people of the People’s Republic of Chimehra will have no choice but to intervene ourselves, both for our own security and for that of the Korean people! I hereby call the Forum to a vote!”
There was a moment of silence. No one had expected him to say such a thing. Chimehra, a historically poor nation, had just threatened to intervene in Korea, and defy the World Forum if needs be. The look on thr Japanese delegate’s face changed to one of confusion and anger. Chimehra had made vast leaps and bound in the last decades, economically, socially, and militarily. Molotov had known Japan had been uneasy about its neighbor’s growing power and wouldn’t take kindly to their messing in what was considered Japan’s backyard. But it was too late for that now. The vote was coming. “I hope we know what we’re doing” he whispered to his aide.
Ankara, Drinent July 11, 1984
Crowds roared as General Desan Vikon appeared upon the balchony overlooking the slums that the people of Drinent now call their capital city. The country had just came out of a terrible civil war, that brought destruction almost across the entire landscape of Drinent, now leaving it barren and black, dead from the flames of war. In the last years of the war gases were used in an uncontrollable amount leaving the air in many places filled with toxins. This was the case here at Ankara, for the General and the people amassed before him all wore gas masks to shield themselves from the gases in the air.
The powerful dictator that once ruled the country had been overthrown, and a "democracy" had been created, at least on the outside it seemed this way. There was a Senate and they did debate upon the domestic issues of the country, but it was obvious they had no power over General Vikon, who was really leading the country. He gave the people hope, he gave them a future before their eyes.
"My people of Drinent," General Vikon began, "We have finally cast off the shackles of the oppressive Dictator Fanon, but we are weak, and our country is broken from the Civil War. But we shall rebuild our cities, rebuild our factories, and restore the former glory of Drinent. Our military lay weak and broken, and the world around us is becoming more and more dangerous as each day passes. We must restore our former glory, we must rebuild our glorious nation!"
The crowd roared and cheered for General Vikon as looked on upon the crowd amassed with a smile upon his face.
World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina Two Days Later
"It is good to see that the nation of Drinent has now a represenative in the World Forum, at the end of their long Civil War," stated Hiech Dossendorf, delegate of Germany.
"It is an honor to be here amongst the other nations represenatives, to finally take our seat amongst the world," said Vessian Destruk delegate of Drinent.
The German delegate nodded, and Destruk looked on at the argument currently going on between The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and South Korea at the moment.
The Echoes of War are now rippling throughout the world, and a new conflict is taking shape...

25 miles off the coast of Haeju, North Korea
“This Frigate Yuan to unidentified freighter, you will reverse course and return to your port of origin, over.”
“Frigate Yuan, this is Suadi tanker Musharref III. Negative, we are en route to Haeju, North Korea. At present we are within international waters and do not recognize your authority to order our return, over.”
“The port of Haeju is under military blockade by the Republic of South Korea, this vessel is under orders to enforce the quarantine and are prepared to do so in force if necessary. This is your last warning, turn back or you will be fired upon.”
“Negative frigate Yuan, we will submit to a search of our vessel, but we will not turn back ,over .”
The 5 inch gun on the deck of the Yuan turned quickly and fired a single shell into the water in front of the Musharref, splashing water onto the front part of the deck.
“Understood Frigate Yuan, we are reversing course, over.”
Meanwhile over the DMZ…
“Multiple SK radar contacts from the other side, captain.” Said ensign Nhei as he looked at the radar display in the cockpit of his old Mig-21. This was the first time he’d flown over the DMZ, indeed it was the first time anyone had in decades.
“Understood, arm air-to-air missiles but do not fire unless I give the order” retorted his captain.
“I’m being painted! Request permission to open fire” said one of his fellow pilots.
“Negative, do not fire unless fired upon! We aren’t here for a fight, just to prove a point.”
Nhei imagined that on the other side, the SK pilots closing on them were having the same discussion…
The next day, World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina
“And therefore, the Republic of South Korea will not tolerate…”
Chang couldn’t take it anymore. “We will not stand for this atrocity! The ships being turned back by the blockade are starving our people!” Chang took a deep breath, he was about to speak frankly about something he could very well be shot for saying. “ It is no secret that North Korea was starving even before the blockade. You all know it. Without supplies from the outside, we will starve ourselves to death within a matter of months, possibly even weeks. If this blockade does not end, we will be forced to take action to break it ourselves, by any and all means available to us!”
“Comrades, the People’s Republic of Chimehra again calls on you to vote for the peacekeeping force!” said Molotov. “If there was any doubt that conflict on the Korean Peninsula would occur, it is fading fast now. Chimehra’s armed forces are already on alert in manchuria and are prepared to act as a vanguard until international reinforcements can arrive. Comrade chairman, I now move for a second vote.”
Chairman Larson stood to his feat and grabbed his microphone, “Mr. Molotov, this issue has already been voted on and the motion denied. However, in light of recent events, this chair is willing to reopen the vote for a second time. Are there any objections?”
The delegate from Japan stood and said in protest, “This matter has been decided already! If we allowed every motion to be revoted on then this body would have no power whatsoever and nothing would ever be decided. The Empire of Japan suggests that the prior vote be upheld, and if another vote shall come, we will vote nay!”
“That is your prerogative.”, said Chairman Larson, “And may vote as you see fit. But this council is hereby called to vote.”
“The delegation from Brazil wholeheartedly concurs with Chimehra, a force must be sent! Brazil votes yea for this measure!”
“The nation of Madagascar disagrees. We are confident that the situation will resolve itself without international intervention. We vote nay to the proposal.”
The voting went on for the greater part of an hour. At the end of it all, Chairman Larson rose and said to the delegates, “Representatives of the World Forum, the vote has been tallied. The final vote is as follows: 46 yea, 68 nay. The proposal is denied.”
Molotov glared over to the Japanese delegate. Every nation under Japanese control got a separate vote in the WF. His sway had caused them to vote as Japan did, and not surprisingly, the vote had failed.
15 minutes later, Enclave, Beijing, Chimehra
General Zukhov rushed through the corridors of the Enclave towards the CCCC (Central Command and Control Center). As he neared the security door, the two Crimson Guards on either side raised their weapons and stood at attention. He placed his hand on the scanner and said his name into the voice identifier. When it cleared him, the metal door beeped and slid open. On the other side, two more of the black uniformed Crimson Guards raised their weapons and stood at attention just as the two on the other side had. When the door shut, they stood at ease again.
“Ah comrade General, nice of you to join us” said Premier Aleksander as he and several officers looked over the rows of technicians at their terminals at the huge television screen showing the Korean DMZ. He didn’t know how he’d known it was him, as he hadn’t turned around to look. He must have been the last officer to arrive.
“Sorry I am late, Comrade Premier.”
“No need, let’s just get on with this.” He responded.
Supreme Commander Vladimir was the next to speak. “Currently we’re monitoring the air situation over the DMZ with both our own long range radar and that which the North Koreans have been kind enough to transmit us. So far neither side has attacked the other, but we don’t know if that will last. The screen changed to show map of Northern Chimehra. “Here we have 2 class III army divisions, our best equipped regular troops, along with 3 class II divisions, as well as the 4th Crimson Guard division near the NK border. The class II’s are already in position and the III’s and the CG will be in a couple of days. We can bring in additional forces from northern Manchuria if needs be, but they would take some time to arrive. In the meantime, we have a few Su-37 and Mig-29 Squadrons already in place, as well as several ground attack wings.”
“What about the SK blockade?” said Zukhov when he finally spoke up.
“With your permission Comrade Premier, we’d like to send out the Carrier Avenger Battlegroup to the North Chimehra sea, in the event of increased hostilities or to break the blockade if it continues. I’m sure the presence of an aircraft carrier will be convincing.” Said Vladimir.
“Yes, but not yet. If we go ahead and send out one of our two carriers, then it will look like we’re bullying South Korea and that’s the last thing we need right now.” Said the Premier, “we’ve got to worry about the political fallout too you know. The world doesn’t like a bully.”
“I understand, comrade.”
“Very well. I’m already late for a meeting with the People’s Congress. Keep me posted if anything happens.”
“Yes Comrade Premier.”
July 15, 1984
World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina
"This is an outrage," exclaimed Delegate Humnhad of Iran. "Our nation was attacked by Iraq, for no reason at all, and has provoked us into military action against them. This can not be overlooked by the WF, we request a peacekeeping force to be sent to stop Iraq!"
"No this is the true outrage," screamed Delegate Sanmon of Iraq. "The country of Iran claims the area and city of Bakhtaran as their own, but it should be ours, for it was originally part of our country. We have just waited until our forces were ready to take what is ours."
Delegate Humnhad stood up, "This is outrageous this can not be overlooked by the WF!"
"This sounds more like a war that should be between Iraq and Iran," stated Delegate Dossendorf. "The fact is that Iraq truly did have the area they are now claiming, and I do not see why WF should get involved."
"Well we shall see," stated Delegate Humnhad of Iran. "I call for a vote on the matter."
A couple of hours later the results came back, the majority had spoken, and the WF had decided not to get involved.
Delegate Destruk of Drinent rose from his seat and said," If the WF shall not act, then Drinent shall. We had always been on friendly terms with Iran before the Civil War, and we shall continue our friendly relationship. We shall pledge our support to Iran's cause. This is an act of pure aggression on Iraq's part and this will not go by unpunished."
Delegate Sanmon looked nervous at the light of this new turn of events. Many delegates were partially shocked by this, believing Drinent still to be to weak to declare war.
July 16, 1984
"Our troops are not yet mobilized," stated General Gonston. "We will be hard pressed if Iraq strikes now."
"They will not," stated General Vikon, as he overlooked a layout of the southern border of Drinent and Iraq. "Their forces are to preoccupied with the current conflict in Iran. We have the first army division positioned right at the border, and our second one further up north. It will take time for them to arrive at the border, but I believe we have the time. The main problem is the armored divisions to the west. Our T-54 tanks will have trouble moving over, as well, it will take a long time for our troop divisions over there to mobilize and move over to the border. Our best bet is to a hope that Iraq is held up by Iran, until our troops are mobilized. I assure you all that this war will be a quick one. Our combined forces with Iran, shall easily remove Iraq, and will give us strength in the end, through the oil that shall be gained."
With that the meeting adjourned, each person hoping for the best, that Iraq did not surprise them and make an attack on Drinent's southern border.

DMZ, NK/SK border
"Missile! Missile!" screamed one of Nhei's wingmen.
"Dammit! Who fired that?" retorted his squadron leader. Before anyone answered, he forgot the point altogether. "Engage! Engage!"
As soon as he finished the sentence, Nhei's cockpit instruments indicated he was being locked on to. He banked right as sharply as his old Mig-21 would allow him. The missile had already been launched. He pulled back his stick and pushed it to the left. An alarm in the cockpit sounded, it was closing. Then it stopped. Had he shaken it off? BOOM! the fighter rocked violently and what was left of it fell toward the ground. Nhei pulled the ejection lever and was rocketed out of the burning deathtrap...
20 days later, July 6th,1984
P'yongyang, NK
Kinpo ran up the stairs, clutching his AK-47 tightly. When he and the 4 remaining members of his squad reached the second story, they took up position by the windows in two rooms. The SK vehicles that had destroyed their roadblock a quarter hour before would probably be comming up this street soon. P'yongyang was still holding out, though South Korea had surrounded the city and taken a good part of the nation. Kinpo wondered how they'd gotten through the minefields in the DMZ, he'd seen them himself. But that would have to wait. Two SK tanks and one of those annoying personel carriers turned the corner.
"Let them pass, don't fire until we can get their rear."
Kinpo peered out the window as they passed. "Now!" said his sergeant.
Two of them fired RPG-7s at the rear of the tanks, while the rest fired their AK-47s to try and hit the soldiers escorting them down the street. The rockets hit, one of the tanks caught fire, some of the crew jumping out before the ammunition caught fire and exploded. The other was practically undamaged and turned its turret toward the building and the APC's rear hatch fell open and soldiers ran out toward the building he was in.
"Get out!!" yelled one of his comrades just before the tank fired into the window.
World Forum, Buenos Aires
"Comrade Molotov, you have a call from the Premier in your office", whispered one of his aides into his ear.
"Thank you."
Molotov got out of his seat and left the Chamber. In his office on the other side of the building he finally took the call.
"You summoned me, comrade Premier?"
"Yes, Molotov. Is the line secure?"
"It should be"
"Good. Now listen. The SK's are getting close to Sinuiju. If the North Koreans can't stop them before they get there, then we are going to cross the border. We've been preparing for this for quite some time, Molotov. We're pretty certain that we can handle the SK's, but I need you to keep things calm in the WF. The last thing we need is the World Forum condemning us. Vladimir and the command staff are worried that if the WF doesn't show some support for us that Japan might get involved. Can you get us that support?"
"...Comrade Premier, I can't really promise anything. But...have actually read Japan's treaty with South Korea?"
"No, I don't think I have. Why?"
"Well the thing is, in their "voluntary alliance" pact, it says that Japan must support South Korea in the event of attack by another nation, but it doesn't say anything about if South Korea attacks first. If we could use that, then maybe the WF would put a little pressure on them to stay out? But I can't make any assurances, comrade premier."
"Do what you can Molotov. I'll be in touch"
July 20th, 1984 Drinent-Iraq Border
"Another quiet night, it would seem," said one soldier on potral in Jeanston Base located right on the border.
"Yeah, it doesn't feel like we are at war at all," said another soldier.
"Hey, what the hell is that," said the first soldier pointed at a bright light speeding towards the base.
"Shit...," said the other, as he ran and jumped behind a rock.
30 minutes later, at Ankara, Drinent
"General Vikon sir, we have just been attacked by Iraqi forces," reported Commander Unkon.
"What," exclaimed General Vikon. "Those fools, we aren't prepared at all, where have they attacked?"
"Fort Jeanston, sir. The situation is critical at the moment, the troops are holding out, but are losing ground slowly. Our air force is already responding and sending 20 old Mig-21s to the area. Their isn't much presence of the Iraqi airforce, but there are some heavy artillery pieces seiging the fort as we speak."
"How long before the second army division can get down there?"
"A couple of days and they will be down there, and in a week the third armored division will be at the border."
"We have to hope they can hold out until the second army division makes it there. Make contact down there, and tell them to hold out, do not retreat! We can't lose that base!"
"Yes, sir."
Iraqi-Drinent Front, July 20th, 1984
"Look, just as I thought we caught them completely off guard," said Commander Mukumah of the Iraqi Forces. "I am quite surprised though, that they are still holding the base. They have some spirit it would seem."
"We will see how much spirit they have, after this next artillery barrage," replied General Aliumn.
"What do you have planned sir?"
"Just watch," they both took out their bincolars as the next artillery shells hit gases erupted around the areas it went off at.
"Sir, we have soldiers out there now, that will kill them!"
"It is a sacrifice we will have to make, we have to show these Drinent fools who is the top dog around here."
Just then the radio crackled that was setup beside the General. He walked over adjusting the frequency hearing screams coming in over on the other side.
"You fools," screamed a field commander on the radio. "How could you have shot the gases out on the Drinent soldiers! Our troops are falling down dead around me, and these Drinent devils are all wearing gas masks! They are cutting through our forces like butter now."
A shot is heard coming over the radio, and the screams and field commander fall silent. The General looked out at the base again hearing the sounds of guns going silent. Only the sound of artillery could still be heard.
"What have I done," asked the now in shock General more so to himself than the commander.
The commander turned to him, " It would seem you just gave those fools the first victory," he said calmly.

July 8th
Near Sinuiju, North Korea
Private Milinsk looked at the rest of his squad as they sat nervously in the BMP-2 that was carrying them into battle. So far, they're battallion hadn't encountered any resistance. "Maybe they already left Sinuiju?" he thought. Such was not the case. He could hear the 25mm cannon on in the turret above start firing away at something. The back hatch went down and his squad poured out the rear of the vehicle.
There were craters all around, as the plain between the two mountains had been pounded by both NK and south korean artillery, and now by Chimehran shells as well. He and 2 others ran into one. The tanks and vehicles moved slowly forward as the infantry moved up from one hole to another, as the South Koreans on the other side fired at them. When he and his squad finally got close enough, they began fring on the SK soldiers that were doing the same. Next to his hole, a Chimehra T-72 was hit in the turret, blowing it off. A Chimehran Hind flew overhead strafing the SKs with rocket fire. After about 15 minutes, the SK forces had taken a severe beating. They hadn't been properly fortified, as they had the North Koreans on the run and didn't expect a counter attack. The location of the plain between the two mountains made a perfect choke point. With artillery behind them and Milinsk's class II mechinzed division in front, they had no place to go. The battle was turning into a rout. As Milinsk ran toward a closer crater, the remnants of the North Korean army they'd linked up with ran out in front of the Chimehran tanks and soldiers. Thousands of them, just running at the SKs. Though they were losing the battle, the remaining South Koreans still downed a great many of the poor conscripts. "No wonder they were losing" thoiught Milinsk, "Human wave attacks...". Even though they'd taken huge losses, the NK attack had scared the hell out of the SKs. What was left of them were turning tail to run. If their resistance was anything like this in Siniju itself, this would be an easy campaign.
10 days later, July 18th, Imperial Defense Forces Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan
"Admiral Hyushu reports his battlegroup is on schedule for its arrival at Taipei, and 4th Corps is fully mobilized, Marshall."
"We're at 80% capacity. We'll still need another week to make final preparations. What of 2nd Corps in Vietnam?"
"They're artillery and armor are in position, the mechanized units should be ready by now also."
Marshall Tagaki put away the map of Japan's troop deployments to the map of the Korean Peninsula. Already the Chimehrans and what was left of the NK army had reached as far as Sariwon. By the time his forces would be prepared, they could be as far south as Panmunjom, possibly further. But when the time came, those upstart Chimehran bastards would learn the cost of meddling in Japan's empire...
July 22, 1984
"Commander Desontk," called General Gontons.
"It's good to see you here General Gontons," replied Commander Desontk.
"What is the situation?"
"We have fortified the base, after the attacks. We have just been sitting it in until your division arrived sir."
"Well, it's time to give those Iraqis hell. It's time to unleash a counterattack of our own. What is their position right now?"
They walked inside the fort, and moved to the command room, there upon the wall was a map of the Zagros Mts.
"Most of their forces are positioned here on the eastern side of the mountains. From aerial photos, we know they have set up a base just south of our position now."
"How about the western side of the mountains? What do they have positioned over there?"
"It is the weakest part of their front, and the best place to try to break through their front. According to reports no new troops are being moved in, probably due to the fact that the Iranians are slowly, but surely driving Iraqi forces out of their country."
"I'll move my division out and hit their western front, and move out behind them, and flank them. Their attention will be pulled to me, by then hopefully the armored divisions will have arrived. We can then unleash a second attack onto their eastern front."
"Very good, sir let us hope all goes well."
July 24, 1984 Western Iraqi Front
"Artillery is bogging are troops down, sir," reported field commander Ali Sourmonun over the radio.
"Just keep up the pressure," replied General Aliumn. "I'll not let these Drinent bastards defeat us again."
Craters were being blown into the field by both sides. A couple of tanks rolled out onto the field that was in the Drinent army division with troops running behind them. A small force of Drinent soldiers stopped and loaded their rocket launchers shooting straight towards a few heavily defended spots on the enemy lines. Gas shot up out of the explosions, and the troops screamed at first then could no longer breath.
Drinent forces charged after the blasts went off, opening up machine gun firing on the opposing force. The enemy confused and panicing from the gases, began retreating.
"No RETREATING," yelled General Aliumn. "He grabbed a gun shooting a few soldiers as they ran to him, "No retreat!"
The soldiers now confused and disgruntled were easily overcame by Drinent forces, as more gas filled rockets exploded around them, and machine gun fire cut them down. The western Iraqi forces were falling easily against Drinent.
When the other Iraqi commanders heard of the news, they were shocked at how easily Drinent was defeating them. They had hoped Drinent to be weak, and could not back up their words of war. But it would seem Drinent was proving them wrong.

Strategy meeting, Japanese Imperial Defense Forces Command, Tokyo
Marshall Tagaki pressed a button on his remote, and the screen switched to show all of east Asia. Highlighted in blakc were Japan's troops positions arrayed throughout its empire.
"Marshall, if I may ask, why have you not placed anything in South Korea?" asked Emperor Kamani
Tagaki chuckled. He thought to himself, "if I may ask". The Emperor may have been the figurehead of the Empire, but for decades, the military had held the power. If the people didn't revere him as a god, Tagaki would have had him disposed of. But he couldn't do that, so for now he'd entertain the imbecile.
"My Emperor," he said, "South Korea is under constant aerial surveillance by the Chimehrans. If we were to land troops on the peninsula, it would be very difficult to keep this hidden, and we would lose any surprise. Also, a large part of Chimehra's army is already on the peninsula, and it would be risky to land there. Instead, we have an alternate plan of attack."
"Vietnam?" inquired the Emperor.
"Indeed, my Emperor.", responded Tagaki. "As we rule them directly, we've been able to sneak in more forces under the guise of reinforcing our garrissons in the country. With their southern border left relatively unprotected, we should be able to take them by surprise."
"But..." started the Emperor
"Yes?" said Tagaki.
"Nothing" said the Emperor
"I have your approval to carry out the operation then?" said Tagaki, more like an order than a question.
"Yes, Marshall. You have my permission."...
30 minutes later, World Forum, Buenos Aires
Chairman Larson stood up holding the piece of paper with the vote results.
"The votes on the proposal by the Empire of Japan have been counted. The measure has failed, by a count of 6 votes."
Molotov let out the breath he had been holding for the last 30 seconds. Had Japan's attempt to get a condemnation for Chimehra's intervention succeeded, the Forum might have imposed a complete economic sanction, or worse. His arguments and debate and swayed the Forum's approval away enough to halt the bill in its tracks, though only by 6 votes.
"Comrade Molotov, delegate Shen of North Korea sends his congratulations and thanks. Also, this letter has arrived for you." said one of the World Forum pages.
"Who is it from, comrade?"
"I am not sure Mr. Molotov. It was given to me from another page."
"Very well, thank you"
With that, the page nodded and walked away. He was walking faster than normal too. Molotov wondered if he'd walked that fast when he was younger.
He looked at the letter. It was very long, nearly 10 pages. He decided to read it when he returned from the restroom, as the meeting had been recessed for 15 minutes.
Molotov got up and began walking through the row of desks toward the exit.
BOOOOOM!
Molotov was thrown into the desk of the Austrailian delegation and landed on the floor on top of the Aussie representative. After a few seconds, the blinding light and deafening screech of the blast subsided. And Molotov again had control of his senses.
He stood up to see the desk he'd just been sitting at no longer existed. The screams of representatives and staff filled the air as they ran out of the chamber. The moans of the injured and dying, including 2 of his aides on the floor also rang out. Security guards with first aid poured in. The page! He must have placed a bomb under his seat! And he'd given him that letter to keep him occupied so he wouldn't leave! Molotov felt dizzy, and had to sit down. Someone had just tried to kill him, in the middle of a World Forum meeting!
July 27, 1984
The Iraqi's frontline has constantly been falling back before our troops. Our tanks are rolling out the other side of the Zagrus Mts, slamming straight into the enemy's position outside the city of Mosul. The blitzkrieg tactics are proving quite effective, and we are sweeping down through Iraq like a river. Commanders out on the frontline don't think it will be long before we arrive at Baghdad, and believe the war will be over very soon. Glory to nation of Drinent!
General Vikon sat the report down, smiling at how easily his forces had overran the enemy. His only problem was the Senate was now becoming more bold, and are considering trying to sway public opinion against his war campaign, and that can not be tolerated.
"I just need to wait for a major victory in the war," he thought to himself. "Then I can do anything I wish, and can easily dissolve the Senate, for they are overstepping their bounds, and will try to hold me back..."

Carrier Avenger Battlegroup, North Chimehra Sea
"Falcon-7, deck is clear. You are clear for landing over"
"Copy that, Avenger , adjusting course, over." said Leuitenant Konninky.
As he lined himself up with the deck of the carrier, his radio was suddenly filled with chatter.
"Falcon-7 break off landing now!!!!"
Konninsky pulled back on his stick and pressed the button for his landing gear to retract. Why had they sounded so urgent?
"Falcon-7, to Avenger, permission to make another pass, over?"
There was no direct answer, but over the radio came, "Carrier Avenger to all airborne fighters, terminate mission now, return to ship immidiately!!"
"Falcon leader to Falcon squadron, multiple unidentified radar contacts approaching from the east. Speed and altitude indicate both aircraft and missiles. Long range surface ship radar reports over two dozen surface contacts. Break and head to bearing 019!"
Konninsky looked to his instrument panel. "Falcon-7 to Falcon leader, I'm running on fumes here. I don't know how long my fuel's going to hold out."
"Doesn't matter,7. Your orders are to engage!"
"But I won't be able to make it back to the ship!"
"Konninsky, if you land on that ship you're not going to make it off again!"
Meanwhile, onboard Cruiser Climax
"30 seconds to missiles are in range, captain!"
"Enemy planes will be within SAM range in less than a minute comrade!"
Captain Gregorin yelled across the bridge, "Have we locked onto their surface ships yet?"
"Lock on two of their ships, I can't tell what they are, but my guess is a frigate and a missile cruiser"
"Fire one Moskit from each launcher at those ships!"
"Aye sir!"
The huge Moskit anti-ship missile tubes on the deck of the ship opened up and the huge rockets steered themselves in the direction of the Japanese fleet.
"Fighters in range, permission to enage?"
"Fire!"
The SAM batteries fired off into the distance.
"Captain! Exocets to port!"
The automated gattling cannons on the sides of the ship fired a hail of bullets into the path of the 2 missiles headed for the ship. One of them got lucky and hit a missile, causing it to explode in midair.
The other was not so lucky. The second missile slammed into the stern of the ship, blowing the helipad on the rear off and making a large hole in the side. Luckily, it had hit above the waterline. The ship wouldn't sink.
As Gregorin turned his head to look out the window of the bridge, he noticed several trails steaming toward the Avenger.
"Oh my God..." said Gregorin
A few seconds later, huge fireballs emerged from the very hull of the carrier. The bridge tower keeled over and fell onto the what used to be the launch deck. Most of the rest of the fleet was in the same condition.
"Comrade captain, Avenger is no longer sending orders."
Gregorin stroked his beard for a moment. "Send an order out to the fleet. All able ships are to disperse and steam back to the mainland as fast as possible... those that cannot are to be... abandoned."
"Captain, incomming fighter to port!"
Gregorin turned his head. "Get down!!!"
The bomb smashed through the window and fell through the floor of the bridge, exploding below.
Meanwhile, Enclave, Beijing, People's Republic of Chimehra
"Get the command staff in here now! And get the Premier and the Congress out of thier residences!!!" said General Zhukov. Protocol called for one member of the Central Command Staff to be in the CCCC at all times, and this was his shift.
"General, we've lost contact with the Avenger. Remianing ships say its unsavable."
"Dammit! Send out a warnign no the emergency frequency. We're going to Security Condition 4!"
"General, border patrol units report massive mechanized corssings on the vietnamese border! They request permission to withdraw to fallback points."
"Tell them they have permission but to slow them down as much as possible!"
"Comrade Zhukov! Multiple airborne radar contacts!"
"Where is it now??"
The technician paused for a second "...here, comrade General!"
"Arm the point defenses! Where are the rest of the command staff??"
They were comming, but until they got there, Zhukov was personally responsible for the defense of Chimehra.
The alarms in the building began to ring out...
Above Beijing
"Dragon squadron, break formation and commence your run!"
Leuitenant Kammoto broke left and declined to 5,000 feet. His mission was to decapitate the Chimehrans. A change in the weather had caused his wing to arrive over the capital late, the other attacks had already began and they'd know he was comming. As he broke through the clouds he could see the expansive capital city. In in the center was his target. The "Enclave" as they called it.
All of a sudden his HUD changed from green to red. SAMs! "Dragons, stay on target!" his leader called out.
He flew down lower, almost in range.
"Sir, SAMs closing fast, I'm breaking off"
"Stay on target Dragon 3!"
"Deploying chaff!"
A moment later, "Ahhhhhh!" the chaff hadn't worked, the SAM had hit.
More were comming.
"In range, dropping load!" His bombs fell.
"Bombs free!"
Kammoto broke sharply. He turned back around toward his target to see the damage.
"Dammit!!!" he yelled out. "Dragon leader, bombs didn't penetrate, over"
"Dragons, break off attack. Engage secondary targets!"
As Kammoto veered toward his next target, a train station to the east, his plane was hit by a SAM. He neevr knew it was comming.
Back in the Enclave
"Zhukov! What's the situation!"
General Zhukov turned around, "Vladimir! We've lost contact with the..."
The floor shook a little.
"What was that general??"
"We're being bombed sir! But I don't think they're penetrating." Zhukov let out a sigh of relief. The 15 meter thick armored walls the politicians had called a waste of Xaviers had actually worked.
"General, the bandits seem to be turning back. Radar control says we got 60% of them!!"
A cheer went up in the room, but quickly died down as the technicians and guards got back to work.
The rest of the Command Staff poured in through the security door, gasping for breath.
"What great timing you have, comrades" said Vladimir.
"Comrade Generals! Damage report indicates minor damage to communication equipment and losses in the city include the Ministry of State Security building and the east wing of the Great Hall of the People. Several dozen senators were in there at the time! The Premier's motorcade was also hit, and we don't know his condition at the moment!"
"Go to SecCon 4 now!" said Vladimir.
"It's already done, comrade." said Zhukov

Reprentative Molotov's office, World Forum, Buenos Aires
"Comarde Molotov, Chairman Larson is here to see you.", said Molotov's secretary over intercom.
"Very well, send him in", said Molotov as he pushed the papers he'd been reading away.
The door opened and in came George Larson, chairman of the World Forum, theoretically the most powerful man in the world.
"Comrade Larson, to what do I owe the pleasure?" he said.
"Just stopping by to personally assure you that we're doing all we can to catch those responsible for what happened last week. I'm sorry to hear about your aide.. Dimitri wasn't it?" asked Larson.
"Yes, he was a good friend of mine. He'd have made an excellent diplomat some day you know. But that's not the real reason you came to see me is it, George?" inquired Molotov.
"I never was one much for condolences. The real reason I'm here is to extend you a proposition." said Larson as he sat back stroking his chin.
"A proposition, comrade chairman?"
"Yes, a proposition. I've been talking to a good many of the representatives here. It seems the attack last week has gotten you a good deal of sympathy."
"What does that have to do with your proposal...?"
"Mr, Molotov, the Empire of Japan isn't exactly the most...friendly..of nations.."
"I'm quite well aware of that, George. They are invading my country at the moment"
"I know. And that's got alot of people spooked, especially those close by. I've been talking to alot of people around here, and given your current situation, many of them of them would be willing to offer a little... assistance to you."
"How do you mean?"
"Well not in terms of soldiers or bullets if that's what you're thinking. But a good deal seem willing to place some, how can I put it, 'economic restraints' on Japan for the time being.."
"Restraints??"
"Indeed. Japan's been using military threats against OPEC for decades to get lower oil prices, they're making cars cheaper than the US and they just can't compete with that, etc. Alot of nations stand to gain from a slight shift in the balance of power. If you formally propose an embargo on Japan, it stands a good chance at passing. I know it won't exactly give you the upperhand, but it could help a little.."
"It'd be like a blockade without any ships."
"That's the beauty of it, as long as they're busy with Chimehra, they won't be able to retaliate against the others. Of course, Japan's empire has enough resources to support it for a while, but they will have to seriously stretch them in order to continue their campaign against you. It may take a few weeks of deliberation..but I think it may well be worth your while."
"Comrade chairman...why have you told me all this?"
"I have my reasons, Mr Molotov, and I'd rather not talk about them. But I assure you, if and when you raise the question, my nation of Austrailia will support you." said Larson, and with that he walked out fo the room.
Meanwhile, Imperial Defense Forces Command, Tokyo
"Marshal Tagaki, our advance elements have reported slightly increased resistance near the Xun river, but they expect to make a crossing within the next 24 hours, provided there are no significant Chimehran reinforcements, sir." said one of the many officers in the room.
"What is the current situation on those reinforcements, colonel?" asked Tagaki in the sharp indicitive voice he always used.
"Our latest satellite and aerial reconaissance shows the majority of their better equipped forces are concentrated much farther north. There are numerous of the elements of their reserve and militia units in the area, but, apart from the island of Hong Kong, there isn't much that can present a real threat in the area south of Changsha. Most of their larger, better equipped troops were in the far north, either on the Korean peninsula, returning through manchuria, or stationed around the larger eastern cities. Radio intercepts also confirm they are moving some large elements from the west as well, but it will take some time, possibly weeks for them to arrive. By the time they are in position to oppose us, we'll have overrun half the country!"
"Don't be so cocky colonel. We've yet to encounter anything worthy of the name resistance as of yet. I won't have this campaign fail because some overconfident fool on my staff thinks it will be a walkover!" said Tagaki, putting the officer back in his place. But for all his rashness, he was right. In all likelyhood, they would have half the country before the real fight began...
August 5, 1984 Ankara, Drinent
"Sir, the status on the war goes, well for both us and Iran," stated Colonel Desantonik. "Our forces are already advancing further down, the city of Mosul has fallen, and the city of Kirkuk is being overran as we speak."
"Excellent," replied General Vikon.
"If you will excuse me Colonel, I have to attend a military parade, and give a speech that will undeniabley change the future of Drinent for the better."
1 Hour Later
General Vikon stood on the blachony of the capitol building looking at the people of Drinent amassed before him.
"This is it," he thought to himself. "The Senate has failed, and public opinion of the Senate has dropped. Now I can easily sway the public into overthrowing the Senate and naming me sole leader of Drinent."
"My wonderful people of Drinent," began General Vikon. "It is good to see so many faces gathered upon this remarkable day. We stand here today to rejoice at the new, restored military of Drinent. Who, as we speak, crushes our enemies in our neighboring country Iraq. We have stood by our old ally of Iran, and helped stopped the aggression of Iraq, and now we can see tide turning for ourside, as our troops are marching for Baghdad as we speak. Our military may be strong, but there are internal organizations weakening our nation, trying to bring us down to our knees, even with the current situation at hand. Prime of these organizations, is the Senate itself. Constantly sending out waves of lies, to confuse the masses into going against the war. They are assualting the minds of you all, trying to destroy our national pride, our military! The one thing we have strived so hard to regain, and finally it is obtained, and is destroying our enemies. They seek to get rid of it! My people we can not stand for this act of treason, to our glorious nation!"
The crowd roared and began cheering Vikon in a steady chant.
"My people, I say rise up, for we may have ended the civil war, but there are still enemies within our government. My people, I say let us overthrow this evil and, for the sake of our country, our future, name me, Geavon L. Vikon, the sole leader of our nation!"
The crowds roared and cheered for General Vikon, and with the ending of the speech the soldiers that stood in formation before the balchony turned and marched down the street. They stopped before the Senate house, and Commander Heison, yelled out, "Go, go,go!"
The troops knocked down the door, and ran into the Senate Chambers, there the stunned assembly of senators looked around in confusion, before being gunned down by the soldiers.
Everything had gone according to plan for General Vikon. Once the war was over, he would be known as Emperor Vikon, and would lead his legions into a bloody conflict in the Middle East.

August 6th, 1984
Wuhan, People's Republic of Chimehra
"The Motherland knows each of you will do his duty!" boomed the loudspeaker as Yuri and the rest of his group moved through the courtyard in downtown Wuhan. A commissar with a loud speaker stood atop the crumbled remains of what was once the side of a department store.
"Comrades!" he yelled out. "This city must not fall! The Imperialist devils have ravaged our nation for too long! This is where we must draw the line! This is where we must show that from here, the only way is back!!!"
Yuri was not inspired. Some of the newly arrived troops seemed to have their spirits lifted, but most of those who had been in the city for the last few weeks knew better. The explosions of the Jap artillery shells nearby was slightly more convincing than the commissar's pep talk. But the commissar did have a point. Wuhan was the gateway across the Yangtze river, and one of the few places Chimehra could hope to hold back the Japanese onslaught. "Take cover!!!" someone yelled out. Yuri ran behind the ruins of a nearby building.
"Tanks!" yelled someone in the distance.
A column of Japanese vehicles turned the corner, along with several dozen soldiers. Yuri grabbed AK-74 and crawled to the edge of the buidling so he could get a shot. As he peered around, one of the tanks fired into the building behind him sending chunks of concrete raining down on his head. Yuri popped up and fired a few bursts and then ducked down again. As the tanks slowly advanced into the courtyard, 2 two T-72s and one Type 98 emerged from the alleyways, firing into the column. They managed to destroy a couple of the Japs before being hit themselves. But with the lead vehicles destoryed, the ones behind had to slow down to push their flaming wreckage out of the way, and in that tiem Chimehran RPG teams managed to disable or destroy a few more. Yuri popped again, firing into the chest of a Jap soldier trying to hide behind the wrekcage of one of the tanks. From behind him, Yuri heard a massive "Hurrrrahhhhh!"
He turned to look. Literally hundreds of people were running towards him. The People's Armed Police! Yuri's brigade had been one of the few well armed units in the south, and with the reinforcements from the north and west still on their way, the constant waves of PAP flooding in from around Wuhan were the only thing keeping the city in Chimehran hands. The remaining japanese fired into the wall of people, gunning down quite a few of them. Still, the flood of militia continued to run, firing as they did.
Yuri didn't understand why they weren't stopping. There was plenty of cover, and they were taking huge losses, but they kept running right at them. Eventually, they ran, literally, right into the japanese, close enough to even stab them with bayonets.
"The PAPs, they just don't learn do they?" said private Linchev to Yuri as they both watched.
"Its sad really, that they'll throw wave after wave at them... but until we can get proper reinforcements down here..I guess we have to do what works."
"For the motherland" said Linchev, mocking the voice of the commissar they'd heard earlier.
"For the motherland indeed." said Yuri, only this time seriously.
Japanese 5th mechanized division forward command post, Southern Wuhan
"General, Beta company's thrust into the downtown area is taking more casualties than predicted. Those damned militias keep showing up everywhere, they don't think they can take sector G alone and are falling back."
"Tell them they are to take that area, at all costs. Sector G must be secured if we are to capture those bridges! And if we don't make a crossing by the time their regular troops start arriving in force, they'll take losses that make the ones so far look like nothing!"
"Yes, General.."
August 12, 1984
Iraqi HQ Baghdad
"Report," commanded General Muhamd.
"Sir," replied Commander Sion. "We are taking heavy casualties and Drinentian forces are overruning our positions outside the city. As bad as this may, seem there is some good news."
"What could possibely be going good for us?"
"Iran has pulled out of the war. They can no longer support their army, and the use of civilians as soldiers, has been giving them grave critizism. They have decided to stop, but lay claim to the areas the conquered."
"That is good news, but the fact of the matter is, our capital is about to be taken by the enemy, and many terrorist groups are making their appearance, trying to overthrow the current government. We are sitting in a huge failure for the regime, and for the military."
"Sir," exclaimed a field commander who had just ran up. "The enemy has breached the city, we are holding our position in northern areas of the city, but these Drinentians fight like devils. It is only a matter of time before they overrun our forces, and begin pouring into the central parts of the city."
Just then a screech of jet fighters were heard flying over the city. They went down low, then dropped their payloads straight onto the capitol building, destroying must of it, while flames engulfed the rest. Iraqi fighters came speeding after the Drinent jet fighters as they flew off to the south.
"Damn," exclaimed General Muhamd. "This war is over, these Drinentians have defeated us..."

August 29th,1984
Wuhan, People's Republic of Chimehra
Sergeant Jimyu turned the turret slowly all around the vehicle, watching for enemy soldiers in the window. As the column slowly crept up the street, the escorting infantry walked slowly along the sides of buildings, watching for those blasted Chimehran rpg-teams that had been slowing down the advance. Jimyu saw something poking out one of the windows on a building down the way. Before giving it a second thought, he started firing on it with his 25mm cannon, until the entire section of wall that had been there was destroyed. The column halted for a moment as he fired.
"What was that, Sergeant?" said his company leader over the radio.
"Thought I saw one of them poking out the window, sir." said Jimyu
"Alright, let's keep moving"
As soon as he'd finished the sentence, an old Chimehran T-55 rolled around the corner and started driving right up towards them at full speed. It fired a round into the armor of the lead tank, but it didn't pierce it.
"Tank 1, fire an AP round into that bastard!"
It did, the turret bending out of shape and nearly flying off in the process.
"Dammit!" said his company commander, "The street's too narrow to go around that thing, and there's nopt enough room to push it out of the way. Back it up, we'll have to find another route."
As the line of vehicles and soldiers slowly reversed down the short street, a rocket streamed out the window of one of the buildings, hitting the fuel tanks of the rearmost tank. The spot it came from was quickly filled with bullets and a tank shell, as infantrymen rushed in to clear it.
"Damn, they've got us boxed in! Alright, we're gonna have to get creative. Tank 4, can you give me a few rounds of high explosive on that smaller building up there, the one with the third story blown out? We're gonna have to make a new alleyway through here. Have we got the wounded back in the med unit yet?"
"Yes sir, we've got em" said the ambulance APC driver in the rear.
"Alright, now keep your heads up for..."
Boom! Yuri quickly rotated the turrt on his apc to see the vehicle behind him in flames.
Boom! another rocket slammed slammed into the one behind that one.
"It's a trap! All vehicles through Tank 4's hole now! Infantry, clear out those buildings!"
Most of them didn't have a chance, along with the salvos of rockets came a hail of gunfire from virtually every concievable window along the street.
"They ambushed us! They waited til we were right in the middle and trapped us in, now they're gonna take us out one by one!" he thought.
He rammed the smoldering ruins of what had been another APC in front of him and plowed along until he amde it through the giant hole in the walls that Tank 4 had cleared through. As the column passed through it, he turned the turret to see how many had made it out. Of the 20 or so vehicles, 9 were still there. He couldn't tell how many of the infantry got through, as he didn't have time to count, but he guessed they had aboutt he same results.
"Change of plans, we're heading back to the camp. We've got too many losses and wounded to accomplish the objective." said his commander.
Meanwhile, Imperial Defense Forces Command, Tokyo
"Marshall Tagaki, with all due respect sir, I don't think we're going to be able to take Wuhan and Nanjing this way." said General Yammota. Of the entire command staff, he was the only one who ever really dared to point out flaws in Tagaki's plans. Tagaki ggave him a silent stare for a moment, for he hated being wrong but, unlike most men in his position, knew when he was wrong.
"What would you advise, General?" said Tagaki in his best condescending tone.
"Ever since their regular troops arrived in strength in these cities, we've made virtually no progress in them. Their militias are also pouring into them in huge numbers and they're harrassing our supply lines. There are simply too many of them. But I and my team have an..alternative idea. One which could end this war quickly."
"I'm listening"
"Well, while there are huge numbers of them in the south along the river and at Wuhan and Nanjing, and a good many still in manchuria, the area between is relatively unprotected. If we were to mount an amphibious assault in this area, we could capture the capital and then move onward, cutting the country in two. We could then stop them from sending reinforcements and supplies to either place and crush them. Of course, there are some coastal defense units in place, but we should be able take care of those without too much trouble."
"And where exactly to you intend to make this little landing of yours?"
Yammota pointed to a dot on the map of Chimehra.
"Here, outisde the city of Tianjin. It's less than 100 miles from the capital. If we move quickly enough, we could be there within a day or two. Of course, the Chimehrans are keeping several units of their Crimson Guard in reserve in Beijing, and there will probably a few class I or II divisions in the area, but most of their better regular troops are occupied. If we can move fast enough, we can take it, and end this war within the next couple of months."
"We will see, Yammota. It's true, we do have a control of the seas, so they wouldn;t be able to oppose us in the open water would they." said Tagaki. "General, get me more detailed plans for this. I find it most interesting.."
Meanwhile, World Forum, Buenois Aires
"The results of bill 4538, "economic restructuring of trade with the Empire of Japan" are in" said Chairman Larson to the delegates of the WF. "The results are as follows: 56-yea. 55-nay. The measure passes, by one vote. As per the terms of the bill, all non-agricultural, non-consumer good trade with the nation of Japan is to cease for a period of 2 months..."
"This is a travesty! The Empire of Japan will not stand for this any longer! We no longer recognize the authority of this body!" with that, the Japanese delegate stood, turned, praised his Emperor, and burst out of the chamber, his staff close behind.
Molotov smiled, for the first time in a long time.

Near Tianjin, People's Republic of Chimehra
"We need immidiate reinforcements now! We've lost We cannot hold the beach any longer!!!" yelled sergeant Milocivich into the radio in the small pillbox overlooking the beach.
"Sergeant, they're landing ground troops! We've got to fall back!" yelled one of the machine gunners as fired at the landing Japanese troops.
A tank round slammed into one of the other pillboxes next to them.
"Negative, you must hold your position." came the response over the radio, "We have to keep them on the beach long enough to launch the Moskits!"
One of the gunners dropped down to the floor, his neck gushing blood.
"You've condemned us all!" yelled Milocivich.
Just them, the door at the read of the pillbox burst open and in rushed 5 Japanese soldiers. Beofre Milocivich could draw his weapon, he was shot in the chest.
Meanwhile, nearby...
"This is Moskit battery control, missiles are armed and ready to launch. Request final target identification, over"
"Target every remaining missile on the carriers and amphibious assault ships! If we can sink one of them we might just slow them down a little. After launch, you are to abandon your post, over."
"Copy that command. Radar lock confirmed. Missile's away!"
As the technicians ran out of the control bunker near the beach, the remianing Moskit anti-ship missile platforms (those that hadn't been destroyed in the aerial bombardment) turned toward the sea and fired. As the missiles streaked off into the distance, Japanese soldiers poured into the bunker, killing those that were too slow to get out.
A few minutes later, off the coast of Tianjin
"Admiral! Radar indicates over a dozen low-flying targets, possibly missiles!"
"Launch counter-measures! Now!"
As the alarm sounded on the deck of the Japanese Carrier Rising Sun , the rapid-fire point air defense guns turned toward the incomming Moskits, firing away. In the course of a few seconds, one went up in flames. The another, then another. Then they came into view from the bridge. One more exploded in a ball of fire, before the other six slammed into the hull of the carrier. The ship rocked violently, tilting from side to side.
"Damage report!"
"Massive hull breachs in sectors A,C, and G. Fire on all decks, and we're taking on water fast." A loud metallic screeching noise pierced the room. "From the sound of it, the bulkheads are collapsing!"
"Radio in our final position to Tokyo, then prepare to abandon ship. We're not going to be above water very long."
Later, Imperial Defense Forces Command, Tokyo
"Marshall Tagaki sir, we've just recieved damage assesments from the operation, sir. The landings were a success, we've already established a beachhead and General Fujito reports that he expects that the nearby city of Tianjin will be under our control within the next few hours. However, there were some losses to the fleet..."
"Losses to the fleet? Impossible! We've already destroyed most of their navy, how could they attack the fleet?" said Tagaki sharply.
"Our air attacks preceding the landing must have missed a few of the missile batteries along the coast. We think they were the new Moskits they'd been working on with the Soviets. We thought we had destroyed them all, but obviously we were wrong.."
"What exactly did they hit?" said General Yammota
"Of the approximately 18 missiles launched, we managed to hit 6 of them before they reached their targets. Half of those that did get through hit the Rising Sun, and she sunk a few minutes later. We also lost an amphibious assault ship and a destroyer. 3 more destroyers were hit, but not sunk, however their captains are requesting to return to the Home Islands for repairs."
"Damn it, that is unacceptable!" yelled Tagaki
"Marshall, it won't be enough to stop us." said Yammota. As the chief planner of the invasion, he would have to quickly defend the plan or Tagaki would have him punished. "We still have another carrier there, and the rest of the fleet is unharmed. Besides, we've all but taken Tianjin and we're well inland. We'll be in Beijing within a week!"
"For your sake, I hope so, General. But if this does not work, I assure you I will have you executed personally. I'm sending you to the Tianjin to oversee the invasion personally. I want you on a plane within the hour." said Tagaki
"Yes, sir."

Enclave, Beijing, People's Republic of Chimehra
"Comrade Vladimir, the outer line is now under direct attack from the Japs! They're reporting massive numbers of mechanized units and Colonel Kaytusha says the PAP can't hold the line. He's requesting artillery support and Crimson Guard reinforcements immidiately!"
Supreme Commander Vladimir looked over the map that once shown Chimehra's rapid advances through North Korea, but now showed the positions of his troops in his own capital city.
"Authorize what's left of battery C to open fire on his requested coordinates. We don't have much artillery left to spare." said Vladimir to the communications technician.
"What about the reinforcements? He says he doesn't believe the PAP can hold off the Japanese for much longer?." he replied.
"Tell him to fall back to the second line at Tunguska street. It's more built up there and it'll be easier to hold them off. Tell him he'll have CG reinforcements waiting for him there."
"Yes, Comrade".
The Japanese had taken most of the eastern outskirts of the city without too much resistance, and were attempting to use highway 4, which looped around the city, to encircle it. The People's Armed Police had formed the bulk of the outer defenses and though they fought bravely, they were just no match for the Jap marines.
"I'm not sure what you hope to accomplish by this, comrade Vladimir" said General Zhukov. "The second line is inside the the actual city, if you'd reinforced Kaytusha we could have held that line for hours."
"Maybe, but that line was never meant to hold. Now that they've battered our militias into retreating they'll be less cautious about entering the city itself. The second line is better prepared and we can use the urban areas to our advantage, and it'll be far easier to hold them there. We've got Crimson Guard units at that line, and with any luck we'll be able to bog them down like in Wuhan and Nanjing, but without having to do it in the heart of the city. If we can't hold them there, then we're setting up defenses in the downtown area for the last stand." explained Vladimir.
"Comrade Vladimir! Battery A's been hit by another air attack. They're requesting permission to relocate" said another technician.
"Have them relocate to the park, but tell them to get there as fast as possible, we can't spare those guns for long...."

Status Report: The Japanese drive into Beijing continues. The suburbs and outskirts of the city have fallen, and most highway 4 (which loops the outer rim of the city) is in Japanese hands. Stiff resistance from the mix of People's Armed Police and elite Crimson Guard in the interior of the city, however has held back the onslaught from the downtown, government, and financial districts. With the advance slowly grinding to a halt, Japanese High Command fears a repeat of Wuhan and Nanjing. In these two cities, Japanese forces have pushed back the Chimehrans almost to the riverbank, but have failed to cross. In a bid to break the stalemate, two daring missions are launched...
Beijing, People's Republic of Chimehra
Flying low and fast to avoid detection by Chimehran radar, the flight of helicopters makes its way through the enemy controlled area of the capital. Flying at full speed and as low as possible, they dodge bullets and the ocasional rocket directed at them. As they near their target, a flight of Mitsubishi fighter-bombers streak by over head, dropping their payload on several anti-aircraft vehicles blocking their way, then quickly pulling up and disappearing into the distance, a single Chimehran SAM close behind. The helicopters suddenly increase altitude fast. When they arrive directly over the massive fortress in the center of the city they stop. As the rope falls out the side of the helicopter, Private Tagushi grabs it and slides down.
"Go! Go! Go!" yelled the crew chief as the soldiers slid down onto the roof of the Enclave.
With the sentries on the roof of the building taken by surprise, the Japanese special forces make quick work of them.
"Tagushi, get me a charge on this door!" yelled sergeant Nampo
Private Tagushi ran to the big metal door that was the only entrance to the structure from the roof, and attatched several small explosive charges.
"Get back!" he yelled.
As the door exploded, a rocket from somewhere strikes one of the helicopters, sending it spiraling down into the large courtyard around the building.
"Advance team one! Go!"
Meanwhile, Central Command and Control Center, inside the Enclave, Beijing
"Whooop! Whooop! Whooop!" rang the alarm.
"What's going on?" asked General Zhukov sharply.
"Intruders in the building! Lots of them, comrade General!" said one of the officers rushing through the room.
"Full lockdown procedure now!" he said as a sqaud of Crimson Guards came through the security door to join those already inside.
"Where are they?" he asked.
"Security says they entered through the roof, and they're tracking them using the cameras. They're moving so fast we're having trouble stopping them."
"How many?" he asked.
"They aren't sure, at least 35, maybe more. Possibly 50 or 60."
"Seal that door!" he said to one of the Crimson Guards in the room, "and get your men into defensive position. They might be comming here!" he ordered.
"Yes, comrade General" responded the soldier.
As the large metallic door locked shut and the Crimson Guards took cover behind the rows of computer terminals, General Zhukov drew his pistol. This wouldn't end well.
9 minutes later, outside the CCCC, Enclave, Beijing
"Tagushi, I need another charge!" yelled his sergeant.
"Cover me!", yelled private Tagushi as he placed his last 2 C4 charges on the door. "Move away!"
Boom! The door blew away. In the smoke that followed, his sergeant yelled. "Everyone in! Go! Go!"
On the other side of the smoke, what was left of his team poured into the room. They got in, to be greeted by a hail of bullets from the black uniformed Crimson Guards, firing from behind several rows of terminals in the center of the room. For a few tense seconds, the elite soldiers of both sides fired mercilessly at eachother. Tagushi reached for a frag grendae and threw it. As it left his hand, he felt a sharp pain in his arm. Staggering backwards, he felt the same pain again in his chest. As he lay on the floor, he saw the last of his comrades go down. Then, only darkness.

Status Report: In an effort to break the stalemate that has bogged down Japanese troops in Wuhan, Nanjing, and Beijing, 2 strikes were launched against high importance targets in Chimehra. The first, a commando raid on the Chimehran Command in Beijing has failed, but just barely. At roughly the same time, a squadron of Japanese aircraft is deep inside what is still Chimehran controlled airspace...
Between Faijie and Yichang, People's Republic of Chimehra
"40 miles to target, sir"
"Arm weapons, aim for the center"
"Sabre squadron, this is AWACS-23, I'm reading 3 contacts at your 11 o'clock, reccommend you move to intercept, over."
"Roger that AWACS, Tyroga, Hytago, break formation and engage, over. Everyone else, stay on target."
4 minutes later...
"Weapons free!"
"SAM! SAM!"
"Doesn't matter, we're done here."
Almost simoultaneously, the bombs, rockets, and missiles of all 15 planes impact on the surface of the newly completed Three Gorges Dam. Slowly at first, and then faster the side of the dam crumbles. Millions of liters of water rush forward at once, creating a massive wave. A mile down the river, lay the city of Yichang...and over 150,000 people...

Status Report:The Japanese Invasion of Mainland Chimehra continues. In Beijing, the Japanese offensive is at a standstill, as the Chimehran defenders refuse to give ground. In Wuhan and Nanjing, despite massive reinforcements, the Japanese are within 1 mile of the riverbank. The bombing of the Three Gorges Dam has left muhc of southern and central Chimehra without electricity, and hundreds of thousands lost their lives in the ensuing tidal wave. In an effort to cut off the invading forces in the north, large elements of the Chimehran People's Liberation Army that had been fighting the South Koreans and had not been sent to the southern front are making their way south to encircle the forces in and around Beijing, while a massive airborne assault is launched to cut their supplies and prevent their retreat...
5,000 feet above Chimehra, between Beijing and Tianjin
"Get ready comrades, they'll have seen us by now" said Captain Grigor.
"Copy that, captain. We won't let them touch you, Gamma-leader" said the leader of the fighter escort.
Grigor took a moment to look around before the Japanese interceptors would arrive. Much of what remained of the Chimehran airforce was involved in this operation, from the old Mig-21s to the new Su-37s to the masses of lumbering transport planes that were bringing the Chimehran 15th airborne into position. Grigor was flying one of the latter. 4 blips appeared on his radar display. "Gamma leader to escort leader, I've got 4 contacts at 12 o'clock, over."
"Copy that Gamma leader, we've got them too, breaking to engage, over."
Several of the fighters sped ahead of the rest of the formation.
"Gamma leader, 6 more comming in at 3 o'clock, over"
More of the fighters broke off in that direction.
"Gamma leader, this is central command, be advised we're tracking over a dozen contacts from the east." said someone over the radio.
"Copy that, escorts, get over there."
"Grigor! Missile incomming!!!" said his copilot.
CRASH!
"We're hit, but just barely. We've lost engine number two!" said the copilot.
"Gamma flight, you over the drop zone. Commence drop!" said central command.
"Copy that, open the doors!"
As the parachutes filled the sky over Chimehra, and fighters chased eachother around them, the sun began to set...

Status Report: Fighting in the capital has turned in the Chimehrans' favor. Trapped between the Crimson Guard in the city, a large mechanized force attacking from the north, and the 15th airborne harrassing their rear, the already battered Japanese are considering withdrawl. Meanwhile, further south, the city of Wuhan is a shadow of its former self. After months of heavy fighting it is nothing more than a pile of rubble, with both sides clinging to the ruins. Japanese High Command has relocated forces from the rest of the front to make one final push to take the city and its strategically important bridges over the Yangtze river. However, in the city of Nanjing, which like Wuhan has been under constant attack, Chimehran forces has begun to slowly push back the Japanese attackers. And in mainland Japan, growing public unrest over what was supposed to be a quick, one-sided victory is reaching the breaking point, with some small elements even calling for the Emperor to be removed from power....
Wuhan, People's Republic of Chimehra
"Command, we've made it across the bridge! We're taking large amounts of artillery fire, request air support, over." said Colonel Tigamushu excitedly. After months of fighting in that godforsaken city, they'd finally crossed one of the bridges, and his battallion had been the first to do it.
"Copy that, colonel, they're on their way."
The Chimehrans were still putting up fierce resistance on the other side, having dug in for weeks, but he'd already recieved word that some of them were falling back. It would only be a matter of time now.
"Tank 9, give me fire on that pillbox to your 9 o'clock." he said
"Yes, sir." was the response.
The tank turned its turret and fired into the structure, decimating it. A few seconds later, a rocket from somewhere along the trench a hundred yards ahead slammed into Tank 9, setting it ablaze. It wasn't over yet, but everyone knew there was only one outcome to this battle now...
Meanwhile, in the Beijing pocket
"No! You're not understanding me! We have to evacuate now or there won't be a position to hold!!" yelled General Yammota into the radio. "Marshall Tagaki, sir, if we stay here we're going to be encircled and destroyed! I believe we can still make a run back to Tianjin, if we are reinforced we might be able to hold them off there, but..". An explosion above the cellar he was using as a command post shook the ceiling and dust fell down from it.
Marshall Tagaki broke in, "General, we're diverting everything we can spare to the Wuhan operation. There's nothing left to reinforce you with. If you cannot take the city, you know what you have to do..."
"But sir.." ,another explosion, "we'll be decimated. The entire corps will be lost!" said Yammota desperately.
"Then you have no one to blame but yourself, General. This invasion was your plan, you designed it and you led it. If you cannot accomplish your goal, you must sacrifice yourself in the name of the Emperor. Consider this conversation terminated..."
"Yes, Marshall..." said Yammota. He looked at the map in front of him. It wouldn't be long before they arrived at his very position.
"General, sir. What are we going to do?" asked one of his officers.
"What we have to, captain." said Yammota as he drew the samurai sword on his belt.

Status Report: The remnants of the Japanese invasion force in and around Beijing have been crushed. As the nation rejoices this victory, the main front further south is crumbling. After months of resistance, Wuhan has finally fallen. The Japanese offensive continued, but massive fuel shortages due to WF sanctions (which were reapproved after the attack on Three Gorges Dam), caused it to grind to a halt once again. In Nanjing, the Japanese have withdrawn, partially voluntarily and partially due to Chimehran forces driving them out, and are heading toward Wuhan, and Japan's gateway across the Yangtze river. In Vietnam, socialist guerilla elements have sprung up. And in Japan, the peaceful anti-war movement gets bolder by the day...
Japanese Governor’s Residence, Saigon, Vietnam
“We’re ready, team 1. We’ll commence on your signal..” said Mihn over the walkie talkie.
“Team 2, we’re coming around the corner. Get ready….now!”
Mihn squeezed the trigger on his RPG. The rocket flew across the street and blew a hole in the wall surrounding the building, the fire shining brightly in the pitch black night. The van that had turned the corner stopped. Out came 7 men who ran through the hole.
“Let’s go!” yelled Mihn, and his team ran across the road to join the others on the other side of the breach.
The few guards were taken by total surprise, as the 14 guerillas burst into the building. After a few minutes of brief fighting, they made their way to the door to the governor’s bedroom.
“Team 1, clear the room!” commanded Mihn
Two of them sprayed the door with bullets, then kicked it in. The room was empty.
“He’s gone!” said one of them.
“There!” said another pointing to the door on the other side.
“Let’s go.” Said Mihn, leading the way through the door.
The door lead to a staircase, at the top was another door, locked.
“Hu, get us through” said Mihn.
Hu took a grenade from his vest, placing it at the base of the door.
“Take cover!” yelled Hu
Boom! The door was open. A guard at the bottom of the staircase fired up.
“Team 1, hold position. Team 2, let’s go!” said Mihn.
As he ran through the smoke, he realized he was on the roof. Three men and a helicopter were on it. Two of the guerillas were hit by them. “Return fire!” said Mihn. The guards dropped, as the helicopter, with the governor inside, lifted off.
“Hand me the rocket!” said Mihn. He aimed it at the fleeing helicopter, and fired. The rocket streaked off into the sky, hitting the propellor blade in the back. As the helicopter spun out of control, Mihn felt something hit his back, then he fell to the floor. None of his team would make it out alive, but they’d done their job…

Status Report: The Japanese forces in Chimehra are now in full retreat, having abandoned their foothold across the Yangtze and been driven all the way back to the Xun river, near the Vietnamese border. Guerillas in Vietnam have also stepped up their efforts, making Japan's position all the more difficult. As a result of this, all media outlets in Japan are now under government control. Meanwhile, Premier Aleksander meets with Soviet officials in Moscow, trying to secure an alliance that will keep the tide of the war permenantly in Chimehra's favor...
Imperial Defense Forces Command, Tokyo
A young officer burst through the door. "Marshall Tagaki!"
"What is it, commander?" retorted Tagaki
"Sir, it's..." he paused to catch his breath, "it's the Emperor sir. He's dead!"
"What?! How???" said Tagaki, shocked.
"He had a heart attack this morning, sir. He died on the way to the hospital.." said the officer.
Tagaki paused for a moment, this could be the chance he'd been waiting for. "Send the word out, I'm declaring martial law." he said.
"Marshall, err..." started the officer
"What?" barked Tagaki
The door opened slowly..
"Marshall Tagaki, I presume?" said the first man to enter.
"That's right, what is this?" said Tagaki confused.
"I'm relieving you of your command, Marshall. These gentlemen will escort you from the premesis." said the man
"What are you talking about? Under whose authority?" said Tagaki.
Another man entered. "Mine" he said.
"And who are you to order me?!" said Tagaki
"My name is Suko, but you may refer to me as My Emperor" he said.
Tagaki realized what was happening. With the Emperor dead, the next in line for the throne would be his younger brother...
"I am relieving you of your position, Marshall. Your leadership has led to one disaster after another. As such, I am assuming direct command. My borther may have been content to sit by and let others make his decisions for him, but I am not. I trust you have no problem with these arrangements, Marshall?"
Tagaki struggled to contain his anger, "No,..my Emperor..".
"Good..." said Suko
Tagaki walked out the entrance, with two of Suko's guards close behind.
"It isn't over yet...Not yet.." thought Tagaki as he walked down the hall...

Status Report: Emperor Suko has been in power in Japan for a week. In this time, the fortunes of his nation have shifted for the worse. To consolidate his hold on the country, most of the upper level commanders in the Japanese military and senior government officials have been replaced by those more loyal to Suko. With their most experienced leaders removed, the Japanese military forces in Chimehra (and, to a lesser extent, the government as a whole) are in disarray. As a result, they have been driven back all the way to the border with Vietnam. With the possibility of a Chimehran-Russian alliance also looming, Suko has begun to suggest a total withdrawl and an end to the war. While many would support this, hardliners within the regime, including Tagaki, continue to oppose it, but not for long...
Home of former Marhsall Tagaki, Nagasaki, Japan
Tagaki watched scenes of the Emperor's elaborate coronation on the television.
"Fool! He will be the end of us all." he said at the screen in anger.
The floor boards behind him creaked slightly. He had no family, and was expecting no one. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. Quickly he moved his head to the side, just as the assassain fired where it had been a moment earlier. bang! Tagaki rolled out of his chair onto the floor and jumped up at the man, tackling him onto the floor. As they wrangled on the floor there was another shot. The assassain stopped moving. Tagaki looked up towards the door. There was a man standing there with a smoking gun.
"Who are you?" said Tagaki as he rose to his feet
"Who I am is... inconsequential." he said. "But you may refer to me as, Mr.J."
"I guess the next thing I should ask is, what's going on??" said Tagaki looking at the corpse on his floor.
"Ah him. It seems your esteemed Emperor has taken a bit of a disliking to you." said Mr J. "I am here to extend a preposition to you. You see, I work for a very powerful man,a man who has recognized your considerable.. talents. He wished to meet you. There is a plane leaving Nagasaki airport for Havana in 1 hour. I suggest you leave now, if you wish to accept."
"What do you.." started Tagaki as Mr.J turned and walked out the door from which he had came. Tagaki stood there for a moment. After a minute or so he walked out as well. As he was about to get in his car, his house erupted in a ball of flame.
He looked at the wreckage for a moment, but said nothing as he shut the car door.

"There are still resistance forces in the southern areas of Iraq," reported Commander Thunston.
"The war has been over this long and yet there are still these terrorist and resistance forces," exclaimed the infuriated Emperor Vikon. "We have to gain complete order to gain faith in these conquered peoples."
"These terrorist factions seem to care little for their own people. Their attacks have killed more of their own people than our own soldiers. We are still trying to find out where their bases are. We figure they are hiding some where in the southeastern area of the country, quite possibley near the Persian Gulf."
"I want all areas you believe them to be hiding searched, and I want the airforce to be flying over them, as well. Any camps found are to be bombed on sight. We are going to send the message to these factions, that we are on top around here."
"Yes my lord, your orders shall be carried out. I shall leave to give your orders right now, sir."
"Very well Commander," replied Emporer Vikon, and with that the Commander bowed, turned, and left the room rushing off to give the necessary orders.

"Fire in the hole!," yelled one soldier rushing away from the cave entrance, while the explosion of his gernade followed his words.
"Move, move, move," yelled Commander Honstein.
The soldiers in the small force rushed in, running into the dark cave. The Drinent soldiers cared little for the darkness as they switched their goggles into night vision. Deeper into the cave they found their enemy, at first sight gunfire opened up. The Drinent soldiers had been faster, with the element of surprise on their side, ripping through the small number of terrorist forces infront of them.
They rushed forward into a more open chamber in the cave finding the rest of the enemies forces there with their hands up.
"What are your orders Commander," asked one soldier.
"The orders from the Emperor are very clear," stated Commander Honstein.
"What are they?"
"No prisoners," calmly replied Commander Honstein, with that he nodded his head toward the soldier nearest the surrendered troops.
The soldier stepped up and pulled his pistol out, walking by each enemy shooting them directly between the eyes.
Commander Honstein looked around the chamber seeing it was serving as a communications base, looking at the communications equipment all around the room.
"Scour the rest of the cave, make sure there are no survivors," ordered Commander Honstein.
The soldiers moved further into the cave as the Commander looked around the chamber. He walked over to a table set up to the eastern side of the chamber, laying upon the table were papers with the code to their communications system. The Commander grabbed the papers, folded them, and slid them into his coat, and awaited for his troops to return to report to the nearest base.

Status Report: Japan's last holdouts in mainland Chimehra have been broken. In extreme disarray they have been driven out of the northern half of Vietnam. The remains of the Chimehran airforce, which has been dramatically reinforced with newly purchased Soviet fighters, has begun limited bombing raids on parts of Japan itself. Seeing that the war can no longer benefit his regime, Emperor Suko has ordered his forces into positions along the coast where the cover of the Japanese fleet has held the Chimehrans and their Vietnamese guerilla allies in check, while he contemplates how to end the conflict in the way that will most benefit him..

"Yuri! Look!" said priavte Krezhnev.
"What?" said Yuri as he leaned around the corner of the wall to fire another burst down the street.
"The city hall! Look at it! They've taken down their flag!"
Yuri fired another burst at the window down the street, then looked. As he did, he saw two flags being raised where the rising sun had been. The lone yellow star of the North Vietnamese guerillas and the Scorpion tail of the People's Republic of Chimehra!
Down the street, a few battered Japanese soldiers walked out of the building Yuri had been firing at waving a white flag. As a few soldiers walked up to get them, Japs from another building opened up on them, killing a couple before they could get back to cover.
"We're not done just yet, comrade" said Yuri before he ran across the street.
World Forum, Buenos Aires
"Comrade Molotov, there is a Ms. Linushi here to see you" said his secretary.
"I wasn't expecting anyone...send her in." said Molotov
The door opened, and in came a woman who was strangely tall for a Japanese.
"How may I help you, Ms...Linushi, wasn't it?" said Molotov as he put away some papers that had been on his desk.
"Is this room secure?" she said, looking around as if she was expecting to see a hidden camera somewhere.
"Errm..I would assume so. What exactly is it that you want?" said Molotov
"I am here on behalf of Emperor Suko, and the Empire of Japan, Mr. Molotov." she said.
Molotov stopped shuffling his papers and sat up quickly. "What has he sent you here for???"
"My Emperor no longer wishes to continue the pointless conflict against your nation. He believes the war started by his brother to be a foolish error, and does not wish to see anymore Japanese lives wasted. I am here to negotiate the terms of a cease fire" she said.
"I'm...not authorized make such negotiations without approval.." started Molotov.
"I am not stupid Mr. Molotov, I know you have your superiors as I do. I meant to begin negotiations. I am to propose a meeting between our two governments. My Emperor has informed me that several neutral nations, including Austrailia, India, and New Zealand have all agreed to host our talks. Of course, he wishes for a temporary cease-fire while they are taking place.." she said.
Molotov was bewildered. The Japs were supposed to be die hard fanatics, but now they were proposing a cease fire.
"I'll have to make a phone call." he said.
"I will return tomorrow. Until we meet again 'comrade'" she said, sort of jokingly...

Sydney, Austrailia
Premier Aleksander's limosine stopped in front of the entrance to the Sydney capital building, the site of the signing of the peace treaty. A suited body guard opened his door and he got out.
"They're waiting for you, comrade Premier." said the anonamous body guard.
"Are they all here?" he asked.
"Yes sir, we're the last to arrive."
"Good. Let's get going." said the Premier to his aides as he got out of the vehicle. As they walked up the steps, hordes of reporters from all over the world swarmed the barricades, as the Austrailian police held them back.
"Feels a bit like being one of those American movie stars, doesn't it?" said one the Premier's aides.
"Heh. Just a bit." he said.
After a long walk through the halls, they entered the large room where the assembled delegates were waiting. Emperor Suko was not among them, instead was Japan's ambassador to the WF. Among the others were delegates from North and outh Korea, the newly proclaimed People's Republic of North Vietnam, the official Vietnamese government, along with every nation under Japan's control, as well as Chairman Larson of the World Forum.
"Aleksander, we meet at last" said Larson as he approached him.
"Comrade Larson," said the Premier, "I wish we could have met under different circumstances." he said as he extended his hand.
"Of course, Mr. Premier." said Larson as he shook his hand. "If you're ready, we can begin." said Larson.
"Very well, comrade chairman."
After a few moments of pleasentries, the delegates signed the treaty one by one. The treaty's points were as follows..
1.At 12:00 Midnight, November 8th, 1984, all military hostilities between the nations of the People's Republic of Chimehra, The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, The Republic of Korea, The Empire of Japan, and all protectorate nations of the Japan are to cease.
2.The 38th Paralell, at the prewar border, will be the boundary of between North and Sotuh Korea.
3.The nation of Vietnam will be divided nito two seperate nations. The Republic of Vietnam south of the currently established DMZ and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam north of the DMZ. 4.In accordance with the wishes of the North Korean government, the DPRK will from this point be considered a province of the People's Republic of Chimehra. The Republic of South Korea will continue to be a soverign nation, under the conditions of all previous treaties with the Empire of Japan.
5.After the signing of this treaty, all WF sanctions are to be lifted againt the Empire of Japan.
6. The island of Taiwan, is hereby recognized as a province of the People's Republic of Chimehra, and is no longer to be considered as a protectorate of the Empire of Japan. As such, all Japanese military and government personell are to be withdrawn from the island within the next month.
7.Should any of the above points be violated, the member nations of the World Forum will cease all trade with said violator(s).

"Are you ready, Mr. Tagaki?" said Mr.J.
"You've flown me from place to place for a month. My patience is wearing thin." said Tagaki.
"Of course.." said Mr. J, as he opened the door.
Inside the large room was a long conference table, with one man sitting at the far end with his hands clasped.
"Marshall Tagaki, we meet at last..." he said.
"Yes.." said Tagaki, not knowing what else to say.
"My apologies for the circuitous route, Marshall. You must understand that we had to make sure you were not being followed, and that you could be trusted. In our business, it is neccessary to take such...precautions." he said.
"And what business is that? I have played along long enough. I want answers." demanded Tagaki.
"Allow me to show you something, Marshall." said the man as he turned and walked toward an aquarium in the wall. "You see this fish here?"
"Yes, what of it?" said Tagaki
"It is a Japanese fighting fish. Now observe." he said as 4 other fish of the same type were placed inside. "These fish are very aggressive, always trying to destroy the others, not unlike the nations of the world. Now watch. As these 4 here fight amongst themselves, this one stays here, hidden in the corner. He is not as large, nor as strong as the others, but he has something the others do not:intelligence. When the others are finished with eachother, he emerges to find the victor weak, bloodied by his fight with the others. And so he is easily dispatched by the weaker, smaller fish, who now has the entire aquarium to himslef." said the man, as the fish enacted his words.
"I see." said Tagaki, "but why have you brought me here?"
"That fish has a name, Marshall. And that name is ARGOS. You are now part of an organization of the same name: the Alliance for the Restructuring of Global Order and Society." said the man.
"You've brought me into a terrorist organization??" said Tagaki
"Please, Marshall. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. But in either case, when the time comes when the other fish have destroyed eachother, ARGOS will need gifted men to lead it. I am offering you a place in the New World Order, and all the power that comes with it." said the man.
Tagaki thought for a moment. What reason did he have to refuse? Everyone thought he was dead. He could never return to his home. And this man was offering him a chance for power greater than he had ever had, and a chance to get revenge on Emperor Suko.
"I accept your offer, Mr..." began Tagaki
"You may refer to me as Mr.Z. Welcome to the ARGOS, Marshall...." said Mr.Z
The Drinent plane landed on to the Berlin Airport. It looked odd to see such a dark object to be landing into such a extravagant city. The door opened to the plane and two Black Orchestra guards stepped from the plane, dressed in long black leather trench coats. They wore their black helments and the customary black gas masks over their faces. The Emperor stepped out after them, wearing his black military uniform, and like most Drientians, he was extremely pale and sickly looking. Looking at him one would believe he was a corpse walking, except that his stature was perfect. Luckily, for him the Furhrer was to taken back by his appearance to ask why him and his guards had not hiled when they stepped from the plane.
"It is good to see you Emperor Vikon," said Furhrer Durnitz. "It is good to see that Drinent has risen from the ashes of civil war, and is returning to power."
"It is an honor to be in your presence Furhrer," replied back Vikon. "Your city is truly beautiful."
With that they moved and walked through the airport with press mobbing around them and taking thousands of pictures. It was truly a spectacle, since this had been the first leader of another nation to visit Germany since the end of the second world war, except, of course, for the leader of Italy, until Germany decided to annex Italy.
Both the Furhrer, and Emperor got into the same car, and drove off into Berlin.
"What brings this visit about," asked Furhrer Durnitz.
"Only to restablish the once good relationship that Germany and Drinent shared before the civil war" replied Emperor Vikon.
"It is good to see Drinent returning to the international playing field. I see that your conflict in Iraq has turned out for the best."
"Indeed, the oil obtained shall greatly boost our economy, and we can finally move forward, and slowly restore our former glory."
The car moved onward into the heart of the city, as the two leaders talked about the plans Vikon had for Drinent.
And so the future is set into motion...

Berlin, Germany
"Mr. J, the observers at the airport say the plane has just landed."
"Excellent, tell your men to egt ready David." said Mr. J.
Of the 26 leaders of ARGOS, he was by far the most hands on, often going personally to carry out his operations.
"The CIA safe house will be ready for us, yes?" said David.
"Of course David. But I must go there myself, now. It would be very dangerous for me to stay here, you understand." said Mr.J
"Yes, yes. God bless America, Mr. J. God bless you all!" said David as he left the room ARGOS had rented for this operation.
Mr. J couldn't help but chuckle slightly when he left. There was no safe house. In fact the German Police would be recieving an anonymous tip later that evening about suspicious looking individuals arriving there. These Jewish Partisans still believed he was an American agent. And that was critical to the success of the operation, as were the American-made weapons they would be using. When the Gestapo found them, they would all say they were working with Americans, and their wepaons would prove it...
Mr. J quickly left the building, disappearing into the city..
10 minutes later...
David could see the column of vehicles comming down the street. It would have been difficult to miss them, as the road had been blocked off in preparation for the motorcade.
"Remember, the Americans say he will be in the 2nd vehicle from the rear..." he said. "They'll slow down as they turn the corner......NOW!!! Shoot that Nazi bastard!" he screamed
One of the partisans fired a LAW66 rocket from the window as the rest rained down bullets with their new M-16s. The rocket hit the 2nd vehicle from the rear, causing it to rise into the air as it exploded. The rest of the cars sped away.
"We got him David! We did it!" said one of the partisans
"Yes! But we have to get out of here, quickly. We'll meet at the safe house at 6:15." said David. In his excitement, he did not realize what it meant that the other vehicles had left. Had Durnitz and Vikon been in that car, the others would have stopped. But in the heat of the moment, it had not occured to them....

Moscow, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
"And what has the party done for us? Left us hungry while the rest of the world feasts! Left us cold while the rest of the world is warm! And what do they do when we complain? They whisk us away in the night! They send us to the Gualgs! They kill anyone who descents! They claim we are all equal, and it's true! We are all equally suffering! Are we going to take it anymore??!" yelled Boris over the loudspeaker, still wearing his commissar's uniform.
"Nyet!!!!!!!" screamed the huge crowd.
"We will make our voice heard, whether they want to hear it or not!! We will stay here until they listen! Are you with us?!"
"Da!" yelled the crowd as Soviet tanks began drving into Red Square.
The protestors crawled on top of the tanks as they rolled in, trying to push them over, futilely.
A couple of moments later, 2 helicopters arrived overhead.
"This area is to be evacuated immidiately. You are interfering with the arrest of a known traitor. You have 5 minutes to clear the Square! Any violators will be severely punished for their actions!" said a voice from one of the helicopters.
"You see, comrades! Even now they seek to hold us down! Will you let them?!" yelled Boris
"Nyet!" yelled the crowd
5 minutes passed. "You have failed to comply, and continue to obstruct the arrest of a criminal. This is your last warning, if you have not begun to disperse within 30 seconds, we will take all neccessary measures to disperse you.." said the voice from the hovering helicopter.
30 seconds passed. One of the tanks fired its machine gun into the air, causing those around it to jump back in fright, but they quickly returned.
After a few more minutes, another did the same. After that, two protestors jumped on top of the tank that was firing and one of them reared back as though he was going to punch him, but before he could, the other pulled a pistol from his coat and shot the gunner! It was at that moment that all hell broke loose. Seeing what had happened, the tanks began firing into the crowd, as Spetznaz repelled down from the helicopters.
To Boris's shock, many of the protestors were actually staying, and some were even fighting. Quite a few of them were armed, as a good percentage of the demonstrators were disgruntled soldiers like Boris.
In his last moments before being shot, Boris yelled into the loudspeaker. "They cannot silence the voice of the people! The world will never forget this day! For every voice silenced today, a hundred more will rise up to be heard!"
....
From the roof of a building a mile away, Ms.P looked through her binoculars at the chaos that had engulfed Red Square. She put them down and picked up her phone. "The operation has been more successful than we anticipated, sir. The protest turned violent as planned, but even more so than we suspected it would. Our cameras caught the whole thing."
"Very good Ms.P. Continue filming for a while longer, we will need as much film as possible. When you are satisfied that you have enough, have your team return to London and send the tapes to the BBC." said MR.Z
"Understood, sir." and with that she hung up.
After about 5 minutes, when the violence had subsided she said "Alright boys, let's pack it up."
And with that she turned to leave as her ARGOS operatives on the roof disassembled the cameras and put them nito black bags and then walked downstairs with her. When they reached the ground floor, they went out back and threw the black bags into a dumpster and set them on fire, after removing the tapes. The world would soon hear about the Red Square Massacre, no matter how hard the soviets tried to stop it from getting out...

BBC 7:30 news broadcast
"And now to our top story of the evening, Murder in Moscow. Our offices have recieved exclusive footage from the Soviet capital depicting the brutal course of a protest gone horribly wrong. I must warn you, some images in this video are disturbing..." and with that the tape showing the soviet troops firing into the crowd of protestors played across the screen.
"In light of this recent development, the World Forum has called an emergency meeting to discuss the Soviet Union's actions, and possibly international action against them." said the anchor
"In other news, rumors of an attack on German Fuhrer Karl Durnitz and Drinentian Emperor Vikon continue to pour in, though neither nation has either confirmed nor denied these allegations...."
Meanwhile, the Kremlin, Moscow, USSR
"Alexi, I can't do that and you know it!" said Premier Aleksander
"You know I wouldn't ask for your help if I didn't need it. But these protests are getting out of hand, and they're getting larger. I can't control them, it's not just Moscow anymore, they're popping up in St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Nobrinsk, Grozny, even in Vladivostock now!" said Soviet Premier Alexi Romanov. He looked around and spoke more softly, "I'm not sure how long I can keep things going here, alot of people in important places are acting strangely...I think they might be planning a coup, and if something doesn't happen soon then it might just succeed."
"Have you seen the news reports! Every newspaper and television show is raving about what happened in Red Square! I can't send Chimehran troops into another country to support a government that just shot its own people ON TELEVISION! Even if I wanted to, we just aren't prepared. It could take months before we'll able to deploy for that kind of operation!" said Aleksander.
"I know it will take you a while to recover from the war, but do you have any idea what this means? I don't have control of much of anythign anymore! I can't control my own army, and Chimehra is the only ally we have! The only one with any power anyway. The Soviet Union will tear itself apart if you don't help me Aleksander. And where will socialism be without it? If the USSR falls apart, Chimehra will be the only powerful socialist nation left. And how long will it be until the fascists and the capitalists turn on you, hmm? We need eachother Aleksander, and you know it just as well as I do!" said Alexi
"Don't lecture me, Alexi. I know what will happen, but look what's going on! You're shooting people in the streets! Isn't that exactly what we're supposed to be fighting against! If you can do that, then you're no better than the damned Nazis!" said Premier Aleksander. After a moment of silence, he spoke again, "But you're right. We do need eachother. Look, Alexi, I'll do what I can, but I can't just send a peacekeeping army to Moscow. The world would never stand for it..." He sat down and put his hand on his forehead, "I'll do what I can for you in the Forum..." he said as he walked toward the door, "and if the worst should happen... you're welcome in Chimehra, if it coems to that.."
"Thank you, old friend. Let's hope that it doesn't.." said Alexi
Premier Aleksander left.

"The Nazi cargo ships are here mam," reported a soldier at the port to General Kiekston. "Accompanied by two destoryers."
"Excellent, and right on time, as well, impressive," replied Kiekston.
The two ships reached docked at the port, and Admiral Flassen himself stepped onto the docks. Upon seeing him step on the docks Kiekston made sure she hiled, wishing to cause no problems. Drinent soldiers moved past her going up the ramp into the ship.
"I am surprised to see you Admiral," stated Kiekston.
"There are no major conflicts at the moment, and I always like to accompany the men I command," replied Admiral Flassen.
"All in is order I presume then, if you are on board overlooking this shipment."
"Indeed, I am to assume that the Furhrer and your Emperor's meeting were fruitful."
"I must address that I am unsure myself what all is being delivered."
"A large shipment of M-16s, some new artillery pieces, and on the other boat, they are carrying quite a few long range missiles. I assume that Drinent is starting a missile defense system."
A soldier ran up to General Kiekston ," Mam, the cargo has been checked on both boats and is ready for unloading."
"Good begin unloading the cargo as quickly as possible."
Same Day, Ankara, Drinent
Cameras rolled as Emperor Vikon prepared to address The House of the People. The House of the People was put in place after the successful take over of the government by Vikon. The people elected represenatives to handle many domestic issues of the country, and to voice concerns to the Emperor himself, while the Emperor controlled the foriegn issues and the military. The speech was to be broadcasted live.
"My people," began Emperor Vikon, "I am sure that you have heard of the attack upon my life and the Furhrer's. I had awaited to announce anything until the evidence was clear, to who the attackers were. I have recieved news from Berlin, from the Furhrer himself, that the attacks were carried out by Jewish partisans. This is the first attack made upon his life, in a long time by this resistance group, the first to be so bold, as well. I have been informed that it would seem the American government was backing the attack. American made weapons were found after the German government hunted down the fools who made the attack! I have already sent a telegram to the American government, for a full explanation of these events. In any case, the Drinent people will be ready for whatever conflict is to come! If we are to ride to war then Drinent shall be ready! The Americans will live to regret the day they attempted to silence the leader of Drinent!"
Applause and cheering erupting in The House of the People, as did the people within their own homes, but many were afraid of what may come. If a conflict were to arise against the United States of America, would Drinent be ready?

People's Senate Foreign Relations committee meeting
Beijing, Chimehra
"So can we do it, if we have to?" asked Premier Aleksander
"Comrade Premier, think of what would happen if word got out we were even considering this. We can't openly help a regime that kills its own people on television. The people would never stand for it, and we'd have protests of our own to deal with, and furthermore..." said one of the Senators
"I'm not asking if we should, we can figure that out later. All I'm asking is what we are capable of doing, should we have to." said Aleksander.
"Assuming we even wanted to support Romanov's regime, can we even spare the money? Or if it comes to it, can we spare the soldiers?" asked another of them.
"Vladimir?" said the Premier.
"I can't speak about the money, but the Senator has a point. Most of what was left of the former North Korean army had no problem enlisting with Chimehra, so we haven't had to commit too many troops to security there, but we still have to secure the DMZ. And until the North Vietnamese can operate on their own, we still have to commit alot there. Most of our infrastucture and supply systems are up and running again, but we're going to need a couple of months at least before our defense forces are back up to the level it was before the war." said Supreme Commander Vladimir
"But what can we do in the mean time?" said the Premier
"If we had too, we could send an airmobile division. But it would be very difficult to keep them deployed for a long amount of time. The Japanese did a good job on our navy, and unless we plan to fly or drive all the way to Moscow I wouldn't advise it. And, if I may say so comrade, I don't advise any deployment outside our own borders until we've repaired our defenses are at least to pre-war strength..." said Vladimir
"We need Russia, comrade Premier" said one of the senators. "Without them, we'll be practically the only socialist nation left. Besides, the world lashed out at the Soviets when they supported the Great Revolution, but they supported us anyway."
"But look what they've done!" said one of the younger senators, "Why shouldn't we just let them collapse? Chimehra isn't the poor, weak, third world country it once was. We were stronger than Japan, we are strong enough to hold our own against anyone! If the Soviets wish to bastardise our cause, then why do they deserve to lead the socialist nations of the world? Why not Chimehra?"
Before the Premier could explain to the senator that the real world doesn't work like that, one of his aides opened the door, and out of breath said "Comrade Premier! Crowds have over run the Kremlin, it looks like security didn't try much to stop them! Romanov's being flown to St Petersburg, and he requests to talk to you as soon as possible!"
"Gte him on line one, I'll take the call immidiately. We'll have to continue this meeting later, comrades." said the Premier as he motioned toward the door.

Status Report: Large scale riots have all but shut down the Soviet government. Premier Romanov has been found dead in his bedroom in St. Petersburg. With most of the Politburo either in jail or under house arrest, there were few left to manage the affairs of the state. In the chaos, several factions have sprung up, vying for control. The largest of these, the "Democratic Movement for Novaya Russia", led by Boris Yeltsin has gained widespread support, both inside and outside the Soviet Union. With many in the military desserting to them, they are the most powerful or the factions. However, hard line communists of the Romanov regime, continue to be the official Soviet government. Led by Foreign Minister Leslov (one of the few members of the Romanov's regime left), they have declared St. Petersburg to be the new Soviet capital. They still maintain control over large areas of the Soviet Union, as well as about half of the military, and many of the Soviet people remain loyal to them. With violence spreading all over the country, the threat of a full scale civil war looms...
"Mr. Yeltsin, they're here."
"Already? Well send them in" said Boris
3 people, 2 men and one woman walked into Boris's newly acquired office in the Kremlin.
"I wasn't expecting you for another..." satrted Boris
"This operation is very important to ARGOS, Mr. Yeltsin. We felt extra haste was warranted." said Mr.J
"I was only expecting you Mr.J..." started Boris
"Perhaps I did not make myself clear, this operation is critical to ARGOS. My associates, Ms.P and Mr.C will be assisting you. Mr. C will be assuming command of your military forces immidiately. Ms. P will be handling your foreign affairs, before you talk to anyone you are to consult her. Are we clear, Mr. Yeltsin?" said Mr. J
"Crystal." said Boris. It must have been extremely important to ARGOS for them to send three of the 26 personally. Boris had been an ARGOS operative for nearly 10 years, but this was the first time he'd actually met any of them.
"Good." said Mr.J. "I have my own directives to complete." said Mr.J before he left the room, followed by Ms.P.
"I'll see to your appointment as Defense Minister immidiately, Mr.C" said Boris.
"Good, we'll need to begin as soon as possible." said Marshall Tagaki, who still wasn't used to being referred to by a letter...

"Spectre-19, multiple armored vehicles and infantry have broken through to the east and are advancing toward your position, over" said Yuri
"Copy that, command, moving into defensive position." was the response
There was a large explosion outside and the room rocked slightly.
"What was that?" said Yuri
"SCUDs!" yelled someone
There was another explosion, this time closer. The room shook so violently that Yuri's computer fell onto the floor.
One of the other radio operators spoke out, "Sir, I've lost contact with alpha company!"
"That's it, we're getting out of here." said Yuri's commander as he walked toward the door.
Yuri took off his headset and ran outside as well. Most of the airport was either rubble or on fire. In the distance, he could hear gunshots. It wouldn't be long until the rebels arrived to mop up what the bombing and SCUDs hadn't destroyed.
"Yuri! C'mon, we've gotta go! There's only a couple of planes left!" said Pyotor
Just then a missile slammed into one of the planes taking off on the runway, blocking the other plane that was taxing on.

World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina
"The next item on the agenda is Ukraine's proposal for military and political intervention in Russia.." said Chairman Larson
Molotov shurgged. "They're not even calling it the Soviet Union anymore" he thought.
"Mr. Geonoff, you have the floor." said Larson to Ukraine's representatives.
Geonoff stood and spoke into his microphone. "As I'm sure you're all aware, the Soviet Union is in the midst of widespread violence. I believe it has become clear that neither the Soviet government, nor any of the parties claiming to be the new Russian government, are capable of functioning. In the interest of the Soviet people, and for the security of the nations bordering the Soviet Union, Ukraine proposes that the WF approve a multi-national peacekeeping force to provide security, and that government functions be placed under WF authority, at least until elections can be held."
The Soviet delegate stood, "My fellow representatives, the Soviet Union is a proud nation, and under any other circumstances we would be completely opposed to this proposal and would even resist it by force. But our people are dying in the streets, and even the USSR is not capable of putting a stop to it alone. Only with the aid of the World Forum can we do so. As such, the Soviet Union supports this bill."
After several more representatives spoke out, both for and against the bill, Molotov stood and begna to speak.
"As you all know, the Soviet Union has been a long time friend and ally of the People's Republic of Chimehra. We have watched for months as the Soviet people have struggled and died. As such, Chimehra will support this bill, and will assist the Soviet people in any way it can, militarily, humanitarianly, and politically. Chimehra will pledge as much aid as is neccessary to assist the WF in its operations."
The vote was nearly half way over, and thus far the WF was in favor of the bill. However, dozens of countries had yet to vote, including the United States and Germany, both of which had several nations in their sphere of influence. And with the high tensions between the two, it was unclear if either would want to commit to a large peacekeeping operation. If not, the bill would probably fail...

World Forum, Buenos Aires, Argentina
The delegates of the WF eagerly awaiting what Germany's vote on the situation in Russia would be, as they also awaited for the United States reply.
Delegate Hiech Dossendorf of Germany stood, "Germany votes against sending a peace keeping force to Russia."
Delegate George Williams of The United States, stood, "As does The United States of America. We are against sending in a peace keeping force into Russia."
"What," exclaimed the Soviet delegate, but then fell silent after his outburst. He was in no position to argue against Germany, with the German Reich right on the borders of his own country.
Delegate Vessian Destruk of Drinent rose from his seat, "The country of Drinent has decided it is not the best choice to send peace keeping forces to Russia, we vote against this act."
The bill was destined to fail now, since it will be expected that every nation in their sphere of influence will vote exactly the same. It would be a while before all the votes were to come in, but one after another the countried held under Germany all voted the same, as did for the US and Drinent.

Teleconference between Premier Aleksander of Chimehra and Foreign Minister Leslov of the Soviet Union
"Damn it!" yelled Foreign Minister Leslov, the acting leader of what was left of the Soviet Union, as he threw his glass across the room. "Aleksander, you assured me the bill would pass!"
"We thought it would, but the Germans and Americans refused to support it, and so did their puppets. There was nothing we could do, they just have too much influence in the Forum." explained Premier Aleksander.
Leslov sighed, "Maybe it's for the best, I wasn't thrilled about having Nazis occupying Moscow in the first place. Knowing them, they'd never leave. But without the Forum, I don't think we can hold out much longer"
Aleksander was silent for a moment, "Do you think they would be willing to negotiate?..."
"What do you mean, are you suggesting we give in to these rebels??" exclaimed Leslov, "Because that is something I am not prepared to do"
"I'm saying that if you don't make some kind of deal, then the Soviet Union is going to cave in. Russia is too large for Chimehra to occupy alone, and..." said Premier Aleksander
"The Soviet Union, you mean. It isn't called Russia." Leslov interjected.
"Right... The Forum might not agree to occupation, but I'm certain they'd agree to help set up some form of an election." said Aleksander
"But there's no way the Party could win that, Alek." said Leslov
"....what if they could elect more than one government.." replied Aleksander
"What do you mean?"
"What if every province had a seperate election, those favoring the Communist Party would remain under Soviet control, and those that don't, well..." started Aleksander
"We would have to give up..." said Leslov
"I don't see any other way. You're still putting up enough resistance for them to want to bargain if they can." said Aleksander
"If it's the only way, then a smaller Soviet Union is better than none at all.." said Leslov reluctantly.
"If you can come to anarrangement with them, then we will propose it together in the WF..." said Aleksander

"And Leslov has actually agreed to this?!" asked Ms.P in disbelief
"Yes, in fact the negotiator they sent said it was his idea. They know they cannot hold onto power for much longer. They're getting desperate." said President Yeltsin, ARGOS's puppet leader of "Novaya Russia".
"Maybe, but this could save us years of trouble. The vast majority of the people support the Novayan movement, we'd have control of most of Russia without having to fight for it. They're handing us victory on a silver platter!" said Ms.P
"So you want me to accept their proposal then?" said Boris
"Not yet. I'll contact you with further instructions after I consult my superiors"
Ms.P hung up.
The next day, World Forum, Buenos Aires
"...And as both parties have officially agreed to these arrangements, we propose that the WF oversee emergency elections in the Soviet Union, and provide at least minimal security to ensure the elections are not tampered with. As the Soviet delegate has said, the Soviet Union will allow the WF access to the country, and the Novaya Russian movement has agreed to cease hostilities." said Molotov
"The Ukrainian delegation agrees with Mr. Molotov, we fully support the proposal"
"Brazil also agrees with Chimehra's proposal, and will do whatever is neccessary to end the violence in Russia."
Over the next couple of hours, the remaining nations voted and deliberated back and forth. The future of the Soviet Union, and possibly the world itself, hung in the balance.

The measure has been proposed in the World Forum, and it has been passed by the member nations. However, the United States and the German Reich have each declined provide security. The date of the emergency elections has been set for Febuary 28th, 1984...
Murmansk, Russia
Private Issak looked down from the balcony of the hotel at the convoy of WF vehicles that were arriving there to set up the polling station. All day WF overseers and election officials had been arriving in the Chimehran zone of the city. So far there hadn't been any problems in Murmansk, but extremist elements had ambushed several WF convoys in other areas of the country and in some of the smaller, less guarded towns, there had even been rocket and mortar attacks on polling stations. But nothing here, yet.
Suddenly there was a loud noise and Issak felt a wave of heat. He ducked down for a second and then popped back up. Something had exploded on the road below, and the wreckage of what had been a truck was scattered across the road, and people were running around the street, some away from the wreckage and some running towards it to help the survivors.
"Issak, Georgi! Get down here now!" yelled one of his sqaudmates. "It's gonna be a long day..." he thought to himself as he ran down the stairs.

February 28, 1985
Status Report: It is election day in the Soviet Union. In six weeks, the WF has managed to set up voting locations throughout the country, with the assisstance of the Soviet Union and the Novaya Russian Movement alike. However, extremists on both sides have refused to accept this as a solution, insisting on a total victory. And due to the rushed response of the World Forum, and the fact that Germany and the United States refused to aid in security operations (which left a large part of the burden on Chimehra and smaller nations), several dozen voting sites have been attacked. But the election continues...
Moscow, Chimehran Security Zone, Soviet Union
"Sir, I think you'd better have a look at this"
"What is it?" said Sergeant Drukivich, hoping nothing had happened like in the British zone on the other side of the city.
"Those Russian thugs are back, more of them, and this time their armed, sir."
Drukivich followed the soldier outside, past the line of people being screened before entering to vote, back into the crowd where about 15 or so men in Soviet army uniforms were yelling things at the voters in Russian and brandishing their weapons at them.
"What the hell is going on here?" asked Drukivich
One of the Russians happened to know a decent amount of Chimehran, and responded "We're just doing our civic duty" sarcastically
"It looks to me like you're threatening the voters out here. I can't let you do that." said Drukivich
"And we can't let you Chimehran bastards tell us how to run our country! Chimehra was supposed to help the Soviet Union, and what did you do? You destory it with your elections! It's easy to do that when it isn't your home that's at stake. We're going to make sure these people understand which side is the right one to vote for." said the soldier
"You can tell them whatever you want, but I can't let you threaten them. Either leave or hand over your weapons." said Drukivich. By this point several other Chimehran soldiers had joined him.
The Soviet soldiers were probably under orders to be in the Soviet zone of the city, but with all the mass desertions, they probably weren't the only ones missing.
"We aren't going anywhere until.." started the soldier. Just then, a bomb went off in the crowd further behind them and several men began firing into the crowd, one of them shooting Drukivich in the arm.
Both the Chimehrans in the area and the AWOL Soviet soldiers fired back, and after a few seconds, most of them were dead, and the rest had run off.
"Damn it!" said Drukivich when it calmed down, grabbing his arm. "That's why I can't let you keep your guns out here." "Medic!" he yelled, not for himself but for the people laying on the ground bleeding.
A couple of soldiers wearing blue WF helmets with red crosses on them ran out from the building through the now scattering crowd...
By the end of the next day, the election results were counted in all but the most remote villages.. and the nations of the Soviet Union and Novaya Russia both became recognized states by the World Forum.

Situation Report: With Novaya Russia now under their control (and the Soviet Union severely weakened),Chimehra and Japan recovering from war, and much of the rest of the world in shambles, ARGOS turns its eyes to the two still unscathed powers of the world, The United States and Germany. Since the operation in Berlin several months earlier, the two nations have been tense, but have avoided any conflict outside of harsh words. As relations between the two countries slowly return to normal, an Isreali superfreighter makes its way through the Suez Canal
Suez Canal, Egypt
"It's ready" said one of the masked operatives.
"Good." said Akmed
"How long should we set the timer for?" asked the operative.
"20 minutes should be just enough for the ship to be in center of the Canal." said Akmed.
"What about the bodies?" asked the operative, referring to the bodies of the dead crew members.
"We'll have to take them with us..." said Akmed, as his phone began to ring.
"Yes, Mr.Q?" said Akmed.
"Why am I not seeing the operation on CNN?" saod Mr.Q
"We're nearly ready, it took us longer to arrive than we anticipated."
"Very well, Akemd. I will be in contact"
The phone went silent.
"It's set, sir." said another operative as he entered the room.
"Alright, we need to get the bodies on the chopper and get out of here." said Akmed. He picked up his handheld radio, "Team leader to bridge, begin the maneuver." With that he walked off toward the helicopter at the rear of the freighter.
1 hour Later, CNN Emergency Report
"This just in from our middle eastern affiliates, we're getting word that a large freighter has sunk in the Suez Canal. Curiously, the freighter was turned horizantally toard the canal's banks, and its hull is completely blocking the Canal." said the anchor, before pushing his earpiece into the ear to hear it better. "....Ok, we're getting word now that the ship has been identified as the Isreali superfreighter Merkeva and...Egyptian rescue services have boarded the vessel and have found no one on board and the ship completely empty of cargo, and the Egyptian navy has dispatched divers to the area to inspect the wreckage.... Egyptian officials are suggesting that they believe the sinking may have been intentional... We'll keep you updated as the situation develops..."
With the Suez Canal blocked, Egypt primary sea lane was inoperable, having the potential to cripple its oil exports. Isreal and Egypt had already been on thin ice, and Egypt's new dictator, General Nassar, had announced his plan to stop allowing Isreali cargo vessels through the Canal beginning March 7th. It was also no coincidence that Isreal and Egypt happened to be allies of America and Germany, respectivly.

Sinai Peninsula, Egypt, near the Isreali border
Muhammed opened the hatch and stood up in the turret as his T-72 sped along through the desert. In front, for as far as he could see, there was nothing but dune after dune of sand. But when Muhammed turned his head round, he could see the entire Egyptian 1st Armored Brigade trailing behind him. All kinds of vehicles, Soviet, German, and even a few American and Chimehran ones, all of them kicking up an immense cloud of dust behind them.
"How long until we get there, sir?" asked the driver from within the tank.
Muhammed got back into the turret and looked at his map. "We've got quite a while to go. These damned dunes are slowing us down" he said.
He looked at the map again. It would have been alot quicker to have taken the roads along the coast instead of going through the desert, but the Isrealis would surely be watching those.
Muhammed sat back down and closed the hatch. "By Allah, we'll be in Jeruselum in a week" he said.
Tel Aviv, Isreal
"The Egyptians are still comming through the Sinai, and one of our U-2's observed some elements of the Jordanian army amassing on some suspicious maneuvers. We need to call up the reserves immidiately." said General Faron
"How much time do we have before they are within striking distance?" asked Prime Minister Netinyahu.
"We have a few hours before their ground forces reach the border, but their SCUDs and aircraft could hit us at any moment." said Faron.
"How sure are we that they are going to attack, and this isn't just some kind of political show?" asked the PM
"If they were trying to show force they wouldn't be trying to hide it, sir. They are going to attack us, I'm sure of it." said Faron
"OK... call up the reserves. And get some fighters in the air. The second one of those missiles launch, I want them all destroyed."
Just then a young officer came into his office.
"Mr. Prime Minister, the U-2 we sent over Drinent has landed and we've got the film..."
.........
March 11, 1985 Tel Aviv, Israel
"The current situation in Drinent, does not look good for us," began General Weinsten.
"The U-2 plane that was sent over to Drinent, shows that they are mobilizing their army, and a lot of it is concentrated on the border with Syria. We all know the relationship Drinent has with Germany, and Syria is weak, Drinent will smash straight through Syria in no time. With Egypt's forces coming now, and the current military activity in Jordan, we won't be able to hold a line against Drinent, they are just to powerful. They have had time, to gain order in Iraq, and their military is now almost fully restored. They have been getting help from Germany, and have acquired many German made weapons."
Everyone in the meeting looked around with worried faces, as one person stood up and asked, "What of Germany, what have are they planning on doing?"
"Germany has given full support to Egypt's actions, and we are unsure if Germany plans to take action themselves. We have received information that more of the German Fleet has began arriving in the Mediterrean Sea. Though no intelligence has been gathered to find out what they are truly up to..."
A couple hours later in the English Channel...
The emergency sirens went off in the Battleship Worchester, as the large battleship rocked wildly.
"What the hell hit us," yelled Captain Williams trying to keep his balance.
"We were hit by a torpedo, sir," replied back a officer on board.
The boat rocked again as a second explosion erupted on it's side again, the last hit needed to begin bringing the ship under.
Crew members were abandoning ship, jumping out into the open waters, as they swam from the Battleship now sliping under the waves, they saw it rise from the waters.
A large submarine emerged from the waters, and upon it's side was the Iron Cross. The hatch to the top of the sub opened, and out came the Nazi flag carried by a crew member, as another one came out behind him stepping up to the machine gun mounted onto the sub. Germany had officially ended it's isolationism...

Status Report: Despite being outnumbered more than 7 to 1, Isreal has managed to hold out against the combined might of Egypt, Jordan, and Drinent. However, in addition to being attack from 3 sides, the Palestinian Authority has seized the initiative and a wave of huge wave of suicide bombings and rocket attacks have swept the nation. With Nazi Germany's attack on Britain, Isreal's one ally (the United States) has yet to intervene, leaving the Jewish homeland to fend for itself.
Jeruselum, Isreal
Aman licked his lips nervously as he got on the bus. The Isrealis inside looked at him suspiciously, but no more so than usual. Afterall, riding the bus in Jeruselum was a dangerous affair, and they had every right to be a little prejudiced when an arab got on the bus. As the doors closed and the bus began to move, Aman took his seat. A couple of seats in front of him was a jewish woman and her small daughter who was combing the hair of a doll she was playing with.
"It is normal to have doubts, Aman. But that is the final test of faith. If you are truly faithful to Allah, you will overcome your fears." thought Aman, remembering what he had been told earlier that morning. Aman began to sweat. He took off his backpack and held it in his lap, and then took his cellphone (that had rigged as a detonator) out of his pocket. He flipped it open, 532-176-9993 he dialed. Just as he has about to press the send button, he noticed the little Jewish girl was looking at him. She smiled, but Aman could do nothing but stare at her. After a moment, her mother turned the child away and made her look forward.
"Why?" thought Aman, questioning for the first time what he was going to do. He had spent most of his life in a Palestinian refugee camp, in utter poverty. His entire life he had been told that the Jews were infidels, that had stolen his people's land, and that it was his sacred duty to take back what was his. "But why? Why like this?" he thought. "Killing their soldiers is one thing, but children... why would Allah want me to kill children, even Jewish ones."
He looked down at his phone, and closed it. At the next stop he got off, and sat on the bench that was waiting there.
As the bus drove away, at an intersection further down the street there was a sudden explosion, and the building on the corner (which was being used as a military observation post) quickly collapsed. As bits of brick flew everywhere, and amidst the shrieks of frightened people, a Drinetian plane flew overhead.
Aman placed his face in his hands, and began to cry.
March 16, 1985 Ankara, Drinent
The House of the People was in full swing early that morning. The topic, the Jewish population, with Drinent's current position towards Germany, and it's aggressive move against Israel along with Egypt, who is backed by Germany, many people had begun to worry. Not only that, Emporer Vikon had called in the session telling them that the Furhrer Durnitz, had demanded Drinent to begin a program, what they called The Final Solution.
"This is outrageous," yelled politicians left and right. "We can't go along with this, many of Drinent's hard working citizens are Jewish, which many were allowed in fleeing from Germany during WWII! They are citizens of Drinent, we can't go through with this!"
Emperor Vikon listened to the bickering of the politicans, then rose from his seat, holding his hands up for order.
"I understand the concern here," he began.
"This puts us in quite a bad situation, because though I consider myself friends with the Furhrer, I will not start Germany's racial policies. We are not Nazis, and this is not Germany, we are Drinent! Drinent goes by it's own rules, and we shall not succumb to demands by other nations!"
One politican rose from his seat, "Strong words my lord, but Germany will not allow us to not "solve" the "jewish problem" as they call it."
"I realize this, for now we will keep it on the low, we shall not respond to the question nor will we impliment in racial policies. Everyone is equal in my eyes, and thats how it shall be. We shall hope for a quick victory in Syria, so that we can secure positions in Israel, then we will have to make our move, that will show our stance towards Germany..."

Bethleham, Israel
"You know, there's going to be nothing left when this is over." said Elijah
"We've pushed the arabs back before" said Airel, looking through his binoculars at the Jordanians at the outskirts of the city.
"Yeah, but never so many. And the Americans are still sitting on their asses." said Elijah, as a salvo of artillery shells landed a few blocks away. "And God help us if the Nazis have their way..."
Airel got suddenly tense. It was true, if Israel fell Germany and her arab allies would waste no time in making sure there was no trace of his people left. Through his binoculars, Airel could see a string of explosions in the Jordanian positions on the hills overlooking the city, a bomber must have hit those howitzers that had been firing on the city all day. Airel let out a sigh of relief, but a few seconds later, another salvo landed in the same spot as before.
"You see, they don't care where their shells land." said Elijah, "That's a neighborhood over there, not a single soldier in it, but still they shell it. Maybe it's better that way, better than what they'll do later anyway."
"Don't say that!" said Elijah, "Israel will fight to the last man, woman, and child. Afterall...what choice do we have?"
Just then there was a loud explosion in the street below, followed by a round of gunfire. The two soldiers looked down to see several masked Palestinians with AK-47s exchanging gunfire with 5 Israeli soldiers behind a sandbag barricade in the street. Airel and Elijah began firing down on them, and together they were able to hit two of them before the rest disappeared into an alleyway, followed closely by the soldiers from the barricade...

HMS Invincible, somewhere off the coast of the United Kingdom
Captain Sims watched as another fighter landed on the deck of his ship. Less than half of the 24 that had took off for Berlin a few hours earlier had returned.
"That's the last of them, sir" said leuitenant Newman.
"That's 14 down then?" asked Sims, reluctantly.
"...yes sir.." said Newman.
The rest of the bridge crew was silent. It was never easy knowing some of the them were probably dead. But their deaths had sent a message, that Nazi Germany was not free to do as it pleased with England without consequences.
"Alright boys, all ahead full" said Sims
"All ahead full, aye." said one of the crewmen.
"Sir! The Agincourt reports sonar contact, 1800 meters!" said another.
"Identified?" said Sims quickly
"No sir, it's too far away to verify as a U-boat. But it's certainly got us on sonar by now."
Sims hesitated for a moment. The Americans were supposed to have a sub in the area, but it was crawling with U-boats. If he attacked it, he risked destroying one of the few American vessels that ahd yet arrived. If he waited, he could lose his own.
"Captain Sims! 2 more contacts in the same sector!"
That was it, only German subs traveled in packs. He picked up the radio handset. "HMS Invincible to battlegroup, contacts verified, weapons free!"
Within seconds, the shriek of alarms from every ship filled the air as torpedoes from the destroyer escorts and orbiting helicopters fell into the water.
"2 fish in the water!!!" said one of the crewmen, "Appear to be targeting us!"
"Damn it." said Sims, "Brace for imapct, prepare for damage control!"
The torpedoes passed eachother in the water, and a few moments later, each hit their targets.
The Invincible rocked slightly, and then rocked violently as the second torpedo slammed into the hull.
"Damage report!!!!!!" yelled Sims
After about a minute, someone said "Fires in C and D decks, major flooding in D"
Captain Sims ordered the water containment doors to be sealed. If only 1 deck flooded, the ship could still manuever.
"HMS Wessex to HMS Invincible, are you hit?" came over the radio.
"Invincible to Wessex, yes, two torpedo impacts to starboard, moderate damage. We're limping but we'll survive. Did we get the U-boats? Our Sonar is out" asked Sims.
"We lost two of them after impact, presumed destroyed. We continued tracking te thrid, but we've lost it, presumably it's left the area.."
Sims let out a sigh of relief.
"Captain, fire has spread to Deck B!"....

March 22nd, 1985
Shanghai, People's Republic of Chimehra
Heiju hurridly rushed out as the subway doors opened. The train was running later than the others, and it wouldn't be long until the time was up. He ran through the station, bumping into several people along the way. As he ran up the stairs to the surface, a couple of police officers caught his eye. They were in one of the roughest sections of the city, and in this neighborhood, if you ran it usually meant you had done something illegal. After he knocked down another person in his haste, one of them yelled out "You there! Comrade! Halt!"
If the train had arrived earlier he could have lied his way out of it, but it would only be a few moments before the explosives and nerve gas he had and the others had placed in the subway would go off. So he ran.
"Hey! STOP!" yelled one of the officers as they ran after him.
After he got to the top, he ran down the street as fast as his feet could carry him, with the two police following behind blowing whistles. "Stop that man!" they yelled, but no one did.
A few seconds later, the ground shook for a moment and a wave of smoke came out of the subway station. The bombs were only a taste what was to come, though. In a few minutes the nerve gas would be leaked into the air, just enough time for paramedics and curious onlookers to arrive...
But for now, having heard the explosion and knowing Heiju was responsible, one of the offiers stopped and began shooting at him. He ducked down an alley way, hoping to lose them there. At the end of the alley was a chain link fence. Heiju jumped onto it and started climbing.
"Stop or I'll shoot!" yelled one of the officers, just as Heiju was going over the fence. Before he could get to the other side, a bullet struck him in the knee, and he fell onto the concrete in pain.
"Agghhh!" he yelled, grabbing his leg. He reached in his coat pocket for the cyanide capsule that all ARGOS operatives carried, but it had fallen out when he hit the ground. He could see it lying a few feet away and tried to reach for it, but the cop ran forward and kicked his hand away.
"Don't move, or I'll blown your head off!" he yelled at Heiju, pointing his gun at his face...
