July 19-21, 1900; Otwock
Over a hundred men and women gathered in the town of Otwock to discuss the formation of a new underground political movement. The three day conference resulted in the founding of Socjaldemokracja Krolestwa Polskiego i Litwy (The Social-Democratic Party of The Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania), or SDKPiL. The main signatories of the party's decleration of foundation were Rosa Luxemburg, Feliks Dzierzynski, and Julian Marchlewski.
The mission statement of SDKPiL cited, "We of SDKPiL set before ourselves one, all encompassing goal; to radicalize the Polish workers in all three partitions, and to lead them in overthrowing foreign regimes so that we may form a unified, independant, and sovereign Polish-Lithuanian state which will function according to the principals of Socialist Democracy."
