The Ricepaddy Bar, Aparri, Luzon, The Philippines

The two off-duty Imperial Guardsmen has been stationed with the Roycelandian Task Force in the northen end of Luzon for four months now.

The Filipino Government had asked for help dealing with the various Communist Guerrillas in the country, strongly hinting that a National Referendum on Commonwealth with Roycelandia could hardly go ahead with numerous parts of the country under rebel control or influence.

The Roycelandians had been running a Hearts & Minds campaign in the Philippines for the better part of a year now, and had achieved a great deal of success in the cities and urban areas.

However, the inhabitants of the more rural areas, and many of the islands in the archipeligo, were not quite so keen on becoming associated with the Roycelandian Empire. And they were about to start vocalising their displeasure.

The two Imperial Guardsmen had parked their LandRover outside the pub and were enjoying a quiet beer with lunch before heading back to the base.

The bar was relatively full, it being Rice Season and the farmers all wanting a well deserved break from their labouring.

The two soliders were wearing the distinctive Red Jacket of the Imperial Guard and had put their Pith Helmets on the table when the three Filipinos- two women and a man- entered the bar and walked straight over to the two Imperial Guardsmen.

The two guardsmen looked up as the three produced very, very old handguns- a Nambu 8mm, a Smith & Wesson Victory revolver, and an Enfield No 2 Mk I* revolver.

"Your Imperialist meddlings are not wanted. The Philippines will not become your Emperor's Lackey! The Philippines Liberation Army will drive you into the sea and grind you into the mud!"

Before the two guardsmen could draw their Webley service revolvers, the three Filipinos had emptied their guns into the two of them, casually walking out afterwards and vanishing into the jungle.

One of the guardsmen was killed instantly, but the other somehowe survived the hail of bullets and was rushed to hospital on the base and stabilised.

In Quezon City, a Roycelandian deuce-and-a-half truck stopped at Traffic Lights was blown up by a grenade thrown through the passneger window, and the ImPetroCo offices in Manila were firebombed by masked students chanting something about ousting the Imperialists...

Port Imperial, Roycelandia

"They did WHAT???" His Majesty demanded of Wiggles, his aide.

"It's all in the Dossier, Your Majesty... someone really doesn't want us establishing a Commonwealth with the Philippines."

"Well, that's for the Filipinos to decide at a referendum. I want these Guerillas stopped, and I want the ringleaders captured. Call Commander Blackadder and tell him to initiate Operation Claymore."

"Right away, Your Majesty..."

(Maximum tag! No time to reply just now, but kick me if I forget for too long. Heh, we may even both be after some of the same people (the authoritarian leadership figures within the nationwide leftist movements). That said, next time those handguns may be Browning Hi-Power with Principality stampings and Tokarev TT-33 with retro-80s Commonwealth indicators ;) )

Well, don't you two think you'll get this by Hindustan without Parliament making a major fuss! Yeah.

Here's something that could be a bit useful:

Thanks very much for that, LRR! Most interesting.

Browning Hi-Powers and TT-33s as well, eh? Roycelandia's policy of letting Officers carry whatever sidearms they like means it's not entirely uncommon to see Officers carrying Nagant M1895s, Mauser Broomhandles, and even Beaumont-Adams blackpowder cap & ball revolvers! (Only officers in non-combat areas would even dream of carrying a Cap & Ball revolver, of course)

In the meantime, Roycelandian Troops are starting the hunt for the killers...

OCC: For sure.

IC:

Parliament continues to condemn violence in the Philippines, and calls on all armed parties to cease operations pending the referendum on joining Roycelandia.
