I am pleased to report success.
1st Manium Expedition Fleet has arrived off shore of Cordensa land mass. All forces arrived safely. Suitable natural harbor has been found, offloading process has begun. Destroyers Vash, Fealvar, and Zypher have taken up permitter to guard against intrusion. Heavy Assualt/Landing vessels Devastator and Hammer Falls are in good condition even though overloaded.
Helicopters have been sent to scout out areas around landing zone. Minor concern over other powers inhabiting continent, no contact has been made to date.
Further message to be sent by Governor of Colony.

-Day 13
-Today is a great day in our nations history. I am pleased to report that after two weeks at sea we have finally arrived at our destination. The great nation of the Holy Empire of the Evir Bruck Saulsbury Alliance has arrived on the unclaimed shores of a new continent. Today is a proud day for me, as now the territory I shall govern lies within sight. This shall be the first entry of what I hope shall be a weekly report on the progress of our nations great effort to explore this land a bring new opportunities to the People. I hope that these messages provide an insight to the great endeavor we have undertaken for future generations.
-Yesterday night our fleet made visual contact with land. We were within approximately thirty miles of the spot which satellites had picked out as a good landing spot. The information proved correct, as it had a decent harbor, fresh water and a nice clearing with which to start with. It was a glorious site to watch the horde of helicopters and Dragonflies swarm off the destroyers and landing ships towards shore. The landing hovercraft took off next, bringing men and machine with which to secure the land and begin setting up a base camp. To be honest, I hope they make quick progress, while the Hammer Falls is a massive ship, it is quite crowded to be on for two weeks with over five thousand men.
-To be honest, I have been quite impressed with the professionalism of the men. While I cannot testify for the other landing ship, I do know both were loaded beyond their capacity, but not one report of disorderly conduct of the ten thousand engineers and soldiers had been reported. As the day has passed, I can already see a swarm of tents rising and reports state that a source of usable water has been secured by the engineers. Most excellent! I am quite happy that this endeavor which was entrusted to me has been blessed with this excellent man and equipment!
-Of course, construction cannot begin yet, this expedition was sent to merely secure the land, and has no the resources with which to being construction. But the engineers can set up the layout for facilities to be built, and the troops will be scouting the land. And with the 45 MUVs we already have, we can at least being clearing land. Hopefully, the cargo ship carrying the supplies with the construction supplies and machinery will be sent upon receiving of this signal. Hopefully, by the time the first transports take to bring the civilian colonist to this new land, we shall have an adequate place for them to live.
-With this, I must conclude my message. I am truly honored to be holding this post, and hope I bring great honor and prestige to the Holy Empire of Evir Bruck Saulsbury. I can only hope that my actions bring pleasure to the Emperor Elect, Triumvirate of Viceroys, and the Senate, as well as to the People of our great nation.
With Great Honor,

OOC: oops, sorry. I should have thought more about the title of the thread. It is Cordensa, sorry for any confusion.

-2nd Week
-We have now been here, in this new land of Cordensa for one week. From deck of the ship I can see that great progress has been made in setting up camp. It is amazing how many tents and prefab buildings have been set up in the short time we have had. It is a constant flurry of activity. Helicopters flitting about, people and vehicles milling about, almost never ending.
-Reports have been coming in none stop from the various recon teams scattering across the land. As we had ascertained based on satellite images, the area we are in is relatively low area, hilly, but nothing much over a 400 meters anywhere near by. The area appears to receive a decent amount of precipitation, plenty of streams and a few minor rivers have been charted. Much of the area is covered in forest, a fair mix of deciduous and conifers. A full botanical report cannot be completed until experts in that field arrive. Hopefully that will be soon, I am interested into what sort of flora and fauna inhabit this new land.
-As to the more practical matters of colonization, that may be another story. The engineers believe that the landing area will provide for a suitable harbor once work is done, and the this bay appears to me to be fairly calm. The land itself appears to be disappointing. The engineers believe the land is stable enough for construction, but there appeared to be a good reason that it was clear of any sizable trees. I do not poses a great knowledge of geology, but I do understand that the soil is rocky and thin. This will provide a poor site for any agriculture work with which to provide any sort of self sustainability. Hopefully as time passes and a more in depth scouting of the land can be undertaken, we will find some land of better use. At least I can report that the engineers are quite pleased with the accessibility of usable water in the area; good aquifers they tell me.
-I also gleefully report that our equipment is working in fine order. Most of it has been off loaded at this point, and I could imagine would be a strain upon our landing craft and cargo helicopters. Nothing so far has broke down, except for one jeep that suffered a flat tire. Of course, it has been merely one week, and with the strain being put upon the craft doing all of the unloading, after all we only have six landing hover craft and fifteen cargo helicopters. Plus with the constant scouting the other thirty helicopters and dragonflies have been engaged with, it is only a matter of time until something fails. Not to even mention the fact that for all of our heavy work, until we receive any sort of construction equipment, is being done by MUVs, utility trucks, and the few tanks brought along; it must be a nightmare for our mechanics.
-I have been made aware that I have neglected one of my duties as governor over a new land. We currently sit in a bay that is only designated by a number on a chunk of land only thought of as a part of the continent of Cordensa. Ergo, it is time to take my duty in hand and name this colony. In honor of our great Emperor Urusic Kersisulen II who commissioned this expedition, this land will be now named Kersisulen, and this place here will be Kersisulen City. This bay I shall name after my wife, Ursilia. So, from now on, my messages will be coming from the land of Kersisulen. Well, perhaps until a suitable place is prepared on land, they will be from the ship 'Hammer Falls' in Ursilia bay.

re: operational strength
-Expedition Fleet Flagship 'Hammer Falls'
-Report on operational status.
-Fleet operations are in good order; all five ships in full operation. 'Devastator' successfully anchored and efforts nearing completion to prepare it as temporary dock. Landing ships have ceased operations. All ten LH-17C cargo helicopters are currently ferrying across supplies as needed, but two of the five CH-54E helicopters are down. All six of the SiH-23s with the destroyer forces are functioning well and performing naval surveillance. The 339th Recognizance and Ground Attack Air Squadron is currently performing recon. All of their 32 aircraft are fully operational, one of the six Mi-24 was down with hydraulic problems.
-Ground operations are currently ahead of schedule. We have completed construction on temporary base facilities for living, construction, and maintenance upon the bluff overlooking the bay. Water purification and storage systems now adequately cover current deployment. Construction has begun on air strips. Surveys put the clearing we are currently using at roughly 45 sq. km. It is bordered by forested land. A small river runs at its closest point to the camp 12 km. Geological reports indicate recent uplift of bedrock, believed to be highly stable. Recon missions have so far mapped out approximately 14,000 sq. km in rough detail, 2,346 sq. km in topographic detail. No major resources found as of yet.
-Current troop mobilization has the 23rd Division on camp construction and guard duty. They are accompanied by the 12th and 37th Engineering Brigades. Currently the 3rd Eng. Brigade is involved with setting up temporary harbor facilities. The 4th, 10th, 23rd, and 30th Recon Battalions are engaged in exploration and mapping. The 44th Armored Brigade has finished up clearing operations and are falling into patrol routines. Two of their Mark-10 MUVs are down due to transaxle problems. Personal injuries are at fifty-eight, majority from stains. No unknown illnesses have been reported.
-Weather reports indicate no storms incoming to this point. Av. temp: 33ยบ C. Light showers possible.

-3rd Week
-I was surprised this week to see the sunny weather that has so far smiled upon us to be disrupted by a fog bank. The first two days it cleared out by the afternoon, but now the sky is covered in gray. Weather analysis predicts rain. I am at least pleased that the sea has been calm.
-Operations have been going most excellently. We have made incredible progress in exploring the wilds. So far thirteen rivers have been identified, and we have made incredible progress in determining the ecology of this continent. So much information has come across my desk! Not only has our information gathering been going so well, but so has efforts to set up camp. A temporary camp to house ten thousand has been completely set up in less than three weeks, and efforts have begun with the equipment we have to start construction on an air strip, harbor, and fortress. And most fortuitously, I understand the transport with the construction equipment and supplies is set to arrive next week!
-It is unfortunate that I have so little to report. Life has gone well in the camp, no reports of unprofessional behavior from the troops, and no reports of unusual illness has been reported, just the usual flu and such. We have also had no contact with other humans yet, though one recon flight spotted smoke over an area of forest at the furthest extent of their range. Other flybys spotted nothing. We have also not made contact with the other nations who we believe are around this part of the world, but we believe that is partly because this continent may have not be colonized. Oh well, better for us, as that ensures we have plenty of room to expand. With that, I end my entry.

-4th Week
-It was most joyous moment for me this week as our first supply ship arrived! Yes, the ship carrying the construction supplies has arrived, and offloading has begun. Even more exciting, it brought this lands first civilian colonists! Two hundred and fifty construction workers and contractors will be helping the forces we already have to establish a permanent settlement. None brought their families, but I imagine that will come in time.
-I enjoyed watching the off loading from my home in this ship. Amazing is the only way I can describe how the other landing ship has become a virtual dock. The 'Devastator' even has a pontoon bridge leading from it to the shore! Reports indicate that nearly fifty percent of the transports cargo has been offloaded in the few days it has been here. The efficiency which the men under my command have operated has been marvelous. Already I can see the equipment and materials going to work on the site of the air strip and harbor.
-Other news, we have gotten our first private business request! With the information returning home about the vast timber lands spread across the continent, none other than a few timber harvest companies have requested permits to begin operations. Of course, there will need to be more detailed surveys on the land to determine the appropriate harvest plan, and which land to be cleared, etc. etc. But, I do believe that they will be leasing land from the government on which to harvest. Resources will be provided, as well as capital and colonists. Not to mention that land useful for our needs will be cleared, and I am glad that officials will be overseeing and directing their work, I would hate for them to clear land that is less useful for our colonizing efforts. Nonetheless, as the governor of this land I am quite proud of both of these events.

-All of the supplies have been unloaded and the cargo ship 'Lady Luck' has left for home. I am sad to see it go, who knows how long it will be until someone else arrives? Perhaps it is silly that I have become a little homesick, but I do miss the rolling fields and tall, jagged mountains of the home land. Not that this land isn't beautiful, or I'm not grateful and over-joyed to be serving this grand endeavor, but this is not the land I grew in and love. I wonder if how common of a problem this will grow to be?
-I can be happy about one thing, that being that an air strip has been built. It isn't much, but it should allow transport planes to bring us supplies more often, and a place for our aircraft to base off of that isn't floating on the sea. Plus, with all of the construction equipment we now have, work has become constant. I am only glad that we brought plenty of food supplies. Last report has it at three months at current rations. Next transport that is sent should be bringing food stores as its primary cargo. If the plan keeps to the time table that was drawn up, our first permanent colonist should be coming in another six weeks or so. Then, I will truly have a territory to govern over.

-12th Week
-The time has almost come! In just about two weeks I will become the governor over a population! While technically the colony of Kersisulend already has a population of ten thousand soldiers, they sit not under my command but under Admiral Sericsis; at least until the colony is established. I am overjoyed to now have a population of twenty thousand civilians enroute to the domain I have been entrusted with!
-On the shore I can see that the fruits of the soldiers labor going up. The military airstrip is now complete for the current stage of the operation, cargo craft have begun to come in carrying supplies. Also large amounts of concrete structures now rise from the ground. Barracks for the troops, and homes for the coming colonists now rise in two distinct districts. Unfortunately, the harbor still lags behind. It is a bit of disapointment, but figuring that we have an airstrip capable of landing heavy Ci-80's and advanced air control abilities (a much needed relief to the controlers aboard the 'Hammer Falls' and the 'Devastator') not to mention ten barracks capable of rooming (with decent comfort I am told) five hundred soldiers, 3 repair yards for vehicles, and over a hundred dwellings of various size for the civilian colonists, and a few muncipalitiy buildings. I don't even included the efforts to build fortifications to defend the colony and the water purification system going up. I hope our new arrivals will be most pleased with what they have ready upon their arrival!
-I am also pleased that logging operations have been approved in select areas of interest for this operation. It will be most necessary to clear some land, and I would be happy to see a few industries provide money and work to draw more people to this land. After all, what is the point of being governor of a barren land? I will wait most excitedly for my subjects arrival!

---New Kersisulend City---
The makeshift military band played the Holy Imperial March, national anthem, at a loud, jarring pace. It was the second time they had played the piece in the half hour since the precession had begun, perhaps it was the fact that it was be piece that a soldier of the Holy Empire knew best. Most of the high ranking officers of the group stood at attention, watching as a small group of troops march in full uniform, assualt rifles perched on shoulder. The officers did not look enthused, and doubtfully would the soldiers if their faces were visible.
Governor Rashavel watched the percession with glee, waving his fingers along with the broken beat of the band, turning smiling to the stoic faced Admiral Sericsis, standing stiffly with hands clasped in back, nodding along to the Governor's comments. The Governor, a man who rose from obscruity of petty beaurcrate following the revolution due to his unassuming willingness to please was a man of middle stature. Nothing special, nothing note worthy, a middle-aged man of medium height and average flab. The event was his idea, a welcoming party for the ships making their way to the newly finished (and still questionable in stability) pier, where he and the percession waited.
The decission to have this percession, and of rushing to finish the pier, did not sit well with the military authority. Admiral Sericsis, a tall, gaunt faced man who does not do much talking, now stood in grim faced appreciation of an event he hardly approved of. In matters of military, he could over ride any decission made, and would have of this percession had Rashavel not informed higher ups of his intent before addressing him on the issue. Indeed, that may have as much to do with the Admiral's dissatisfaction as much as his natural temperment.
The march stopped, soliders taking to attention along the opposite side of the pier as the officers and officials (a few of the newly arriving civilians could not wait to be off loaded, demanding to be lifted off by helicopter before the convoy arrived to shore). Behind the backs of the soldiers, a transport ship slowly manuevering the best it could along the pier, guide lines tightening to moore the ship. The rest of the transport fleet placed out in the bay, lining up to dock at the 'Devastator'.
The band reached its crescendo, the transport fully came to a stop. The gang plank lowered from the deck of the ship, the crew looking relieved as they backed off as the only civillian head not to arrive before the fleet took to the ramp with his entourage. The Governor excitedly stepped forward, his arms wide in welcome. The two men meet and shook hands vigourously, smiling and exchanging excited hellos. The civil official, highest of those sent, mayor of one of the Holy Empire's largest cities, Kirsch Eliloic was to be head of the civil authority that would over sea the running of the New Kersisulend City. The men walked away, the band playing a traditional march song, a stiffening of mens postures. The crowds of people aboard the docked ship slowly made their way off and down the ramp in an orderly manner, newly arrived Spc. Lieutenet Commander Eszcir Xurich appeared at the side of Admiral Sericsis, a letter in hand, a cold smile on face.

-Today was such a tremendous day! I was overjoyed, the pagentry, the excitement! Oh, as those ships came in I was overwhelmed! Oh glorious state I now have! I can see lights on in buildings, and the ships and helicopters are working at fantastic pace to offload all of the transports human cargo. And in the newly built buildings I can see lights! Oh, how glorious it is to be a Govenor of an actual population!
-Once the people settle in, the real work can begin. I am happy that nearly half of the colonist are agricultural, it will help with gaining self suffiency (who can doubt the intelligence of the Central Planning Commitee?), though the soil that is already cleared appears to be of limited agricultural value, but a least we can grow potatoes!
-Of course, this new coming is not all joy for me, for now, a new ship will serve as flag ship of the fleet, and my home for the past four months will return to the motherland. It is sad to pack up all my things and move, I'm not certain yet if I will move to the shore, but I suspect I must now that a populace is building up. I will definitely look forward to working with my cohorts in the Civil Administration, especially the soon to be mayor of the budding city of New Kesisulend. Ah, a brave new world, I find myself in, a brave new world.

--Colony of Kersisulend, New Kersisulend City, Temporary Government Hall--
-Three months after arrival of civilian government, six months after first landing on Cordensa.
Chairman of Kersisulend Operation Council and Mayor of New Kersisulend City, Kirsch Eliloic, hammered the gavel to gain order over the fifty member group. In the three months since they had landed and set up the civilian regime, not much had gotten done. Much of their time had been spent writing up a charter that was acceptable to the military command (though, it should not have took that long since many of these decisions had been made by the government before anyone even touched Cordensa). But, of course, other issues seemed to constantly come up in a form of complaint, with plenty of disagreement over how to solve the issue.
"Gentle men! Gentle men! Now, I understand the frustration in development of city infrastructure, but most of the current structures used are temporary. Only a total of ten blocks are so far permanent structures. This is not a cush assignment! This is a harsh frontier that is fairly unknown. " Eliloic started down the members, a harsh challenge to the men who brought up the issue, silence consuming the room.
Council Member Rilki stood up, pointing finger at the Chairman. "But how can we expect business to grow if the city does not have reliable power, or water, or any of the other services a city needs!"
"Why should we be worrying about that when over half this city's citizens are here merely because of the promise of permanent leases of quality land here! Most of the people interested in colonizing are people who want to live in the country, away from cities!" came the disagreement of another.
"Why focus solely on this city when we have such a large land mass to develop! We already have seen five lumber towns spring up, and while they are supplying their own power plants and disposal of waste, we have no system to connect this towns except by air! We need roads, lines of communication, schools! How. . ." the gavel interrupted Council Member Ploskivitz, Governor Rashavel interrupting.
"This colony is developing splendidly so far! These concerns are trite and unnecessary at this time! Construction has been ahead of schedule, the harbor is nearing sufficient operational status to take multiple supply ships, the airport is running in fine order, and we have replaced the diesel generators powering our community with a small power plant, we even have a basic sewage system in place! The lumber towns are also doing quite fine, and will be providing our ports with regular traffic, as well as adding ten thousand people to our colony! Also fertile land has been found that we can begin farming on soon, allowing the colony to have a more reliable source of food for our warehouses. I believe our most proper course of action is to finish the charter, and that will prove us with the guidelines as how to run this colony!" Governor Rashavel spoke in a seemingly noble tone, getting more excited as the speech came to its climax. It was met by grumbles from the Council. Rashavel sat back down in dejection.
Chairman Eliloic brought his gavel down, a look of challenge flashed around the chambers to anyone who would interrupt him this time around, throwing an extra long glance towards the Governor. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I understand your frustration and concerns with the development of the colony. But, I believe that Governor Rashavel is correct, we should focus on completing a colony charter. With this we can set guidelines with which to settle any other problems we are dealing with in this colony. As is, we have a large amount of the Charter completed, with a bit of work we should be able to get it finished before long. I believe that this is the best action this council can take for the colony."
Grumbles once again reverberated through out the chamber, though this time they were much more appreciative, nods of approval visible in the crowd. A small frown crossed Rashavel's face, a blush coming to his face as he saw the more respected Eliloic gaining support where he had met apathy. The Chairman gave the council a few minutes to quite down before calling a vote to make finishing the Colony Charter the only object on the agenda. It passed without issue or dissent. The real work now began.
