[Ship Backstory]

After a long history of ships with firepower ranging from low to average, the Chaos Worshippers of Shloo decided that to successfully bring about the expansion and exploration demanded by the Gods, they would need a ship capable of packing a punch. The Black Lord of Shloo, realizing this, gave the Shlooban Drive Yards (SDY) more room to research by increasing government funding to the company. There were several terms to this agreement though. The Black Lord is not one to waste resources unnecessarily, especially so when it comes to a large amount of resources. This lead to demand for a higher amount of protection on the ship. The SDY agreed to this demand, but was confused by how to make it happen without significantly increasing the ship’s mass, an important factor in all SDY ships, which are generally small and agile. This problem lead to a long development period, where researchers not only looked into advanced new materials to use in the armoring of the hull, but also worked on developing a new two-stage transition ready ship, that could adapt to the situation, either with greater fire power, or stronger protection.

[Armoring]

The hull armoring of the Eugoria class ship was a major factor in the development of the ship, being that the funding parties wanted protection for their investment, and that the builders wanted mobility enough to keep up with the ships predecessors. A compromise was reached in the purchasing of an advanced theory in the making of an armor alloy from Halberdgardia. The process of creating Enzyme- bonded titanium-hyperfilament alloy (TiHF^4) was discovered due to research by the extremely capable Halberdgardian scientists, and was proven to create an alloy with the ability to far outstrip the tensile strength of diamond. It is believed by some to be the strongest material that can exist. Although the TiHF^4 was indeed the correct alloy for the job, some of the investors still doubted the strength of the protection on the ship. While designers did not wish to add more permanent weight onto the Eugoria, it was decided that the investors would get what they wanted. A more radical thinker, Yuri Morshh, a fairly unknown designer on the team, devised the plan that would be used on the final product of the ship. While eating breakfast with his family one morning, Yuri was stricken by an idea as his son played with his Connector toys. Why not make the ships have variable stages? He brought his idea before the design team and was greatly successful there. The team quickly implemented Yuri’s idea and the attachable shield was born. Also made of TiHF^4, the shield was relatively strong, while not adding much in the weight department.

[Armament]

The Eugoria class ship was actually planned to be a gun ship, bringing a greater amount of firepower than most comparably sized ships to the field. The designers, still obsessed with weight issues, threw caution to the wind on this area of development however, adding symmetrical guns on each of the ship’s two wings, giving the ship an eight gun compliment when shielded, and a nine gun compliment without. Each of these nine guns weighs in at more than ten terajoules of output, with the four largest guns delivering fifteen terajoules of power a piece.

[Sensors and Electronics]

The Eugoria was decidedly capable of packing a punch now, but would the crew be able to deliver on it’s high potential? The SDY design team, while having the largest possible amount of faith in their military, decided that they could not. They were only human. So the SDY team announced that it would be giving the rights to create a sophisticated targeting and sensor program to a local computer software company, PWNSU Inc. The company went straight to work writing the program, and the software was released two weeks ahead of schedule. It went on to be used also by a popular space flight simulation program. The sophisticated life-systems of the ship are run by an Artificial Intelligence that has been created with an inhibitor so that the AI can be shut down to all unessential systems in an emergency.

[Propulsion]

The Eugoria also uses another Halberdgardian technology in the Wormhole Generator. This extremely powerful technology allows the ship to take massive leaps through space, although to do this, the ship must have a substantial amount of power to enable the Wormhole Generator to function properly. To supply the needed amount of power, the SDY designers opted to go for a strange strategy by placing only five fusion reactors in the ship. This enabled the Wormhole Generator to be used, but only under certain conditions. The SDY were under serious religious pressure when they opted for this means of travel rather than the traditional Warp-drive method of travel usual of a Chaos Worship nation. The Black Lord stepped in when certain religious groups threatened to sabotage the efforts of the SDY. He mandated that the ships be capable of both Warp and Wormhole travel, but leaned more towards the sacred means of travel himself. The SDY designers chose to use the Wormhole Generator only on occasions that needed a very large jump in a small amount of time.

[Crew]

The Eugoria’s designers guaranteed a smaller amount of human crew, and thus, losses, when they installed the advanced AI and electronics systems in the ship. The ship is capable of fully functioning on a crew of 100, although to be completely efficient a larger crew, about 120, is necessary.

That comes to $8,000,000,000,000 for 50 ships, the order will be filled as soon as possible when the Shlooban fleet is completed.

OOC: 7/20 Ships completed. Also, changed the power of the weapons, seemed too low.
