AMF News Update

Good afternoon, this is Mort Perkins reporting.

The lush hills that dominate the ULE Valley have been stained with blood yet again, as Lord Dreadfire makes one of, and I quote, "several sacrifices to the Gods".

Todays slaughter occurred on the holiest of grounds in Automagfreek, the hill where Dawn's Cathedral sits. Reconstruction of the church was finished nearly 6 months ago, after the razing of the Westwind Citadel which sat on the same site, ironically where the original Cathedral was.

We take you now to our reporter in the field, Mitch Highman.

*******************

The scene is a grim one. The bodies of the 500 innocents had been sitting in the sweltering ULE sun for nearly 8 hours. Night was beginning to fall, and the stench of death drifted like a fog over the killing zone. Ravens and vultures had been feasting on the dead all afternoon, leaving innards and large chunks of human flesh strewn about on the ground. Macabre, to say the least.

The condemned sat high atop 25 foot pikes that formed a literal wall around the peak of the hill. Mourners and other observers crowded the Sentinel barricade to the holy site, gawking and praying regardless of the sickening stench of gore that filled their nostrils.

This is Mitch Highman reporting, here at the foot of Dawn's Cathedral. It is indeed a sad day as mourners and onlookers stand around the site where Lord Dreadfire ordered the piking of 500 civilians. When we asked his pesonal servant as to the nature of these killings, he responded with 'It was an offering to the gods above, a holy sacrifice. Lord Dreadfire comunicates with the Gods directly, and this was the instruction they gave him.'

We are not sure if this is an isolated incident or if Lord Damien will order more 'holy sacrifices', but the reality is this: 500 of Automagfreek's own are dead, swaying from the top of 25 foot oak poles. We will stay here all night and cover this event, until such time that the bodies are taken down and put in their final resting place.

At Dawn's Cathedral, this is Mitch Highman reporting. Back to you Mort.

OOC:I'd like to join in if you don't mind

IC:King Adrian was shocked that a nation would impale its citizens. No one even cared; though AMF's reputation even breached that of Eternus Lumen's isolation he would not allow this monster known as Damien to go unpunished. Though Eternus Lumen was limited to what it could do, with virtually no military except guerilla troops it would be a one-sided slaughter.

He would issue a condemnation for now, if only to help cease the disgust within his conscience.

Message to: Automagfreek
From: King Adrian of Eternus Lumen
Subject: Slaughter of the Children

Dear Damien Dreadfire,

Your moves against the children of your country are nothing but brutal attempts at hiding your own cowardice. You are like a child's bully, picking on those who cannot fight back so you can feel 'special' about yourself. Well listen special boy your bullying will not last long, sooner or later that child will fight back, much to your surprise and kick your ass all the way to your mother.

We hereby Condemn these acts of cowardice and brutality, and hope one day the people of AMF will rise up and fight against the brutal regime of Damien.

Signed,
King Adrian of Eternus Lumen

OOC: No no no, they weren't all children. The phrase "500 of Automagfreek's children are dead, swaying from the top of 25 foot oak poles" I used figuratively, not literally. I meant 'childern of Automagfreek' more in a sense of its citizens, the people born of the land.

Sorry for not being clear enough, I will edit the phrase so it's not as misleading.

The Great Hall was gripped with fear, for the first time since Damien's return to power. While he had been absent from his residence for several days, the servants and other dignitaries moved about the palace with great caution, scared to even think the wrong thoughts.

It appeared that Dreadfire had finally gone off the deep end, though to some he already did a long time ago. For days before the massacre he would move about the shadow filled corridors and mutter to himself, rambling on about hellfire and brimstone, the rising of his fallen Prince, and the darkness that would soon consume the last ounce of light.

Neither Hartman nor The One could find him, but they knew it was best if he was left alone. His daughter Silvia was still in Pantera, long overdue for her return to the AMF mainland. This in and of itself brought great suspicion to the mind of Lord Damien....suspicous of Dayne the Evenstar and his intentions with his precious Silvia.

But those feelings were placed in the back of his mind, for there were much bigger matters that needed attention. It was no secret that the loss of Azrael had haunted the Warlord each and every night, and rumor was beginning to circulate that Damien was attempting to bring him back from the grave.

The part that made Hartman, perhaps Damien's best friend, cringe more than anything was the phrase Dreadfire uttered," the first of several sacrifices". Hartman knew what Damien meant by this.....he knew that until Azrael was raised that the killing would continue. But sadly there was nothing that the good Minister could do to help his troubled friend to accomplish his goals.

However, there was something he could do....help clean up the messes that Dreadfire was making. He would do his best.

I can assure everyone that the incident today at Dawn's Cathedral was an isolated one. The people whos bodies are now on display were those of burtal criminals, sentenced to death for the unspeakable acts they committed in their life.

I can also assure you that no innocents were harmed, only those guilty of atrocities towards their fellow men. I speak on direct behalf of Lord Dreadfire, as he is temporarily unavailable for statements at the moment.

It made him sick to his stomach to do it, but if selling out the people who died was what it took to help his friend, then so be it.

Samtonian News Broadcast

This is Suzannah Hawkins with the Samtonian Broadcasting Center. After the reported deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians in what have been described as some type of "demonic ritual" the religious establishments of Samtonia are up in arms.

In a prepared statement read to a press conference held on the steps of the McGouly Cathedral in downtown Owen, Archbishop Reynolds of the Samtonian Catholic Church expressed outrage at the reports out of Automagfreek.

"The level of revulsion....which filled me as it should fill all pious men is one I have never closely approached. In all my time as religious minister, never have I seen the work of stan on such a large scale, never have I seen the work of the heathen brought to such a fore.

The murder and sacrifice of these hundreds is clearly the clarion call of Lucifer himself, a cry answered with great readiness by the leaders who committed and sanctified these atrocities! Not only those in AMF, but those in Samtonia as well! Where but the halls of the Ministry of Peace could an allegiance with this nation of Satan be conceived..." these sentiments were issued by every major religious order, with a number of the more radical Muslim clerics calling for an immediate summit of the Islamic faith in order to ascertain whther or not a fatawah should be declared against the "servants of Satan"

Drawing from our colleagues in AMF, the word of Premier Dreadfire's staff was: 'It was an offering to the gods above, a holy sacrifice. Lord Dreadfire comunicates with the Gods directly, and this was the instruction they gave him.'

The official governemnt response from the government of AMF was as follows: "I can assure everyone that the incident today at Dawn's Cathedral was an isolated one. The people whos bodies are now on display were those of burtal criminals, sentenced to death for the unspeakable acts they committed in their life.

I can also assure you that no innocents were harmed, only those guilty of atrocities towards their fellow men. I speak on direct behalf of Lord Dreadfire, as he is temporarily unavailable for statements at the moment."

However, it seems that the religious outcries were soon heeded by a number of Samtonians. WE go live to the outskirts of embassy row, where a mob of protestors has congregated against the gates of the Automagfrekian embassy. We go live to Mr. Howard Daniels who has been observing the situation since the mob has begun to form. Howard?

Thank you Suzannah. As you can see from the crowd behind me, nearly every religious faith is represented here in the crowd, along with the unlikely allies of the anti-capital punsihment group. A great chunk of the crowd is simply people horrified by the reported atrocities and all are angry.

Banners and pickets were in force within minutes of the first reports of the so-named "Massacre of Dawn." The crowd grew and we now are able to report a crowd of hundreds, with thousands more gathering outside the government buildings of the Ministry of Peace and the Central Council building.

The crowd is angry and their chants do not belie this. Everything from "AMF go home!" to "Gholgoth No! Samtonia Yes!" echo through the crowd, whilst inciendiary posters with pictures of Premier Dreadfire and our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Vanderhoven, standing atop a heap of dead children and shaking hands wave throughout the assemblage. Effigies of Dreadfire have already been hung from lampposts, swaying next to effigies of nearly every member of the Council of Thirteen.

However, most disturbing of all for the government in general and the Misitry of Foreign affairs in particular are the spontaneous portests erupting across Samtonia demanding that all ties be cut with Automagfreek. These protests are widespread and growing."

More on this as it develops. We meanwhile have received official government word on the stance that the Council is currently adopting. "Our alliance with AMF is one of both choice and necessity. To abandon AMF now would be to abandon both the safety we have experienced as a result of our relationship and the friendships we have cultivated as a result of our alliance."

It remains to be seen, however, if the protestors embrace this stance.

Some, especially a certain sect of our brethren, say that there is a certain beauty to be found in death. The way the blood trickles from severed arteries, following the contours of the fleshy body it lived in for so long and coagulating in totally random patterns, the meanings of which only Mother Nature could fathom. All the while, the face captures the last emotion of the individual for all eternity, like a three dimensional snapshot of their psyche.

I can't see the attraction myself, but there is beauty to be found in all things -- it is just a matter of finding it. I doubt that entering your country is as simple as flashing a passport at an automaton who desires death, but I do hope that one day I have the time, and you have the inclination, to allow me to see such things. One thing I have learned above all else however is that time is a limitless, yet precious, commodity.

Good luck with the death you are reaping, whatever its purpose may be.
