What does buying stuff actually do? i mean, how can i prove in war that I have the weapons i bought?

Buying mostly just gives you credibility. It also allows you to say, if someone doubts your military, "No, I did buy those forces, here's the links...". It also keeps people from saying "OMG I R TEH DEPLOYZ0R 500000 N00KZ0RS, 100000000 SUPERULTRAUBERMEGA CARRIERS AND 50000000000000000 MEN!!!11one1eleven1 YOU DIE!!111oneeleventy-one111"
Just my two cents.
Yeah what was mentioned above was pretty correct. You don't get anything physical from it unless you get your jollies on such things but thats not my business. It's just to back you up in a war or you can make improvements to it. It makes you sound more knowledgeable rather than saying
5000 tanks roll into your capital city
you can say
5000 M1A2 Abrams tanks roll into your captial city.
