The people of Ireland have made their feelings clear to the British in their first message to the world of the 20th century. In their Proclamation of Independence and Freedom from Foreign Rule (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=428908) they have sent a distinct message to foreign powers that they will not give up until Ireland is free of foreign influence or every last Irishman is dead.

OOC: Initially a simple experiment, to test the water as it were, on how Britain and the world will react to a rebellion in Ireland so as to allwo us to strike more easily when the time is right, ie. when a big war is on.

An open RP particularly involving me and Sarzonia but would be glad if other nations joined in or offered aid to either side or merely expressions of surprise or support or whatever.

This thread, obviously, is about reforms in the Korean Empire. The first post lists just what I have started for the year 1900, and subsequent posts will either go into more detail or be about another year. I'll include some bold text that says what year it is once the first year is over. Anyone can have their leaders say something about the reforms, they like them, they suck, or whatever. Pledges of aid or alliance and the like can also go there.

The Second Boer War (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=428591) is raging in Southern Africa, if anyone's interested.

President Paul Kruger of the South African Republic (aka Transvaal) and his allies in the rebublic Orange Free State (both recognized as independent by Great Britain) have declared war on Britain because of British transgressions onto Transvaal land. After numerous initial successes, the Afrikaners are beginning to collapse due to superior British numbers and resources. World opinion (in RL) is generally neutral or pro-Boer.

Boer and Afrikaner are synonomous, both meaning someone of Dutch heritage who lives in South Africa. Just wanted to clear that up.

A group of Catholic Lithuanian Nationalists have rallied behind a local priest and an army officer and is slowly growing. If the Russian government does not act soon the rebels will seize the major city of Kaunas and it's arsenal, and perhaps grow out of control. A Lithuanian declaration of independence may not be all that far off...

by the way, this was a big one. All of the big powers show up for this, the US sends a small fleet and a few thousand troops, the British send a bigger fleet and more troops, the Russians send in lots of troops and essentially steal Manchuria (setting the stage for the Russo-Japanese War), the Japanese send in troops (and impress everyone), the Italians and Austrians send in a few troops to remind everyone they matter, the French do the same hoping to gain part of China, and so do the Germans (and they end up gaining a treaty port out of it).

This has the makings of a first class war as this time (instead of historically), the Chinese actually have a more decisive leader and intend to make a fight of it.

Ultimatum on Venezuelan Debts

January 3, 1904

The German Empire and The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland hereby state that unless Venezuela begins payment of debts to the countries of the world, that these Empires will be forced to occupy Venezuela until such debts are paid. 10% of said debts must be payed for within the week, or else measures will be taken.
