My Departure

While I am probably just another strange name to many of those who make International Incidents their home, I know that there are a few who might care, or at least pretend to care about my leaving.

First of all, I would like to say that this may, or may not be a permament thing, but there is a ninety percent chance that I will not be returning to Nationstates ever again. The reason for this is simple, I have joined the United States Army and will be heading to Basic Combat Training (BCT) in around two weeks. BCT combined with my Advanced Individual Training (AIT) will last roughly fourteen weeks. Once I have finished with this, I am almost certain I will be sent to Iraq almost immediately to serve as "[T]he infantry's best friend."

So I would like to take this time to say that it has been fun to role play along some great story tellers and to say thank you to everyone who have filled my days and nights with enjoyment only the people of this forum can bring.

So I bid you all adeu and hope everyone has a good life.

It's never a fun thing to see a dedicated NSer like yourself go, but obviously no one can seriously expect you to keep your current level of involvement up when you're in the U.S. Army. God bless you, man, and good luck! I hope you come out of Iraq safe and sound.

Well, believe it or not, It's unfortunate that you have to leave NationStates, however, as someone who also, at one point, planned to join the U.S. Air Assault [U.S. Army], your duty in that respect is much greater.

Regardless, I hope that you find time to return to NationStates, even as an active duty soldier within the Army. I know of several friends in the Army, Navy and Marines and they find time, so, perhaps you'll be as lucky as them to have as much free time on their hands.

If not, oh well, and I hope that you're successful in your endevour within the Army. I have a lot of respect for you, and for your service.

I don't know you, but I know of you. I also have heard of the US army once or twice. So good luck to you. One of the most hnourable professions around. Give 'em hell!

And remember; the best medicine for bullet holes is to just not get shot. So try to point your gun the right way around when you fire it :p.

Good luck man, and remember Murphy's law of combat (http://www.strategypage.com/humor/articles/murphy.asp)

And remember these new military hand signials http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/68157Silver/military_hand_signals.jpg

Don't get shot, point the gun the right way, keep your finger off the trigger unless your shooting, and remember when the pin is pulled Mr. Grenade is not your friend

But seriously, good luck.

I would like to do my part in wishing you both a heartfelt farewell from NS and the best of luck in your future duties and adventures. In my own humble opinion, I feel nothing displays the character of a man more than his willingness to serve his country, and keep the rest of us lesser men safe from the harms lurking beyond our borders. Your dedication moves me, and I salute you for it. Godspeed.

Hmm, well good luck...what AIT are you going into?

Im gettin trained as a combat engineer. Basically I set and recover landmines and other types of explosives. I will also probably be trained in some infantry tactics and such as I will probably end up going on patrol with them after I am trained.

I will try to post all I can, but I will probably be completely cut off from a computer for my entire training which will take at least 14 weeks.

And for my current role play(s), I will be putting them all on hold until I know I will have internet access at least once a week so if those who are involved want to wait, thats great, but I will understand if you must move on.

To everyone else, thank you for your kind words and wishes, Im sure Ill need every one of them sometime in the future.

I dont agree with the Iraq war and i dont agree your decision. However, what i think has not made an impact on your life so far, and if your lucky it never will. Although i dont agree with it, i respect you for making such a decision and wish you the best of luck there.

Explain it to the mods and i'm sure they'll not delete your nation after the 28 (or 60) days. If that fails i'll happily log in for you every once in a while.

When your out there, use your head and dont get yourself killed. Always exploit weaknesses and never stick your neck out.
