Prime Minister Josey Wales called a press conference this morning to declare the closing of the Okinawa Naval Facility. "We have struck a tenative deal with the Nation of Pyschotika, and will surrender the island to them in two years. In exchange we will recieve New Guinea in trade." PM Wales declared. Inside sources at the DOD state that survey crews are already in New Guinea searching for a suitable site for a large series of Naval Bases. This source also tells us at least five possibly eight bases will have to be constructed in New Guinea to equal the facility size abandoned in Okinawa. Estimated construction costs will be 15 billion per base. The huge base concept was a brainchild of the former Defense Minister Jefferson Davis. His plan was to devise a installation so formidable that enemy combatants would merely pass it by to attack other easier targets of opportunity. In twenty years of service Okinawa was never attacked by an enemy combatant, so the theory was at least partially true. The true economic cost of reconstruction of facilities is quite burdensome, but with a 6 trillion dollar budget the DOD isn't phased with this cost.
