Shepard Smith, the voice of the Layartebian News Network, was one of thousands gathered around the seaport for the opening ceremonies.

One of the first groups to arrive for fleet week was the Squornshelans. Due to their close proximity to Layarteb City. The only ones who took a long time arriving at Poghrill (Yellowknife) where the plane waas waiting, were a few of the higher ranking guests, including Assistant Minister of Defense, Naval Andreas Markov and Vice Admiral Arnhelm Borg. They flew from the Squornshelan Capital in Vogsphere (Anchorage). From there the flight to Layarteb City was a mere 3 hours. The naval vessels and aircraft left from bases located at Rankin Inlet, on the Western coast of Hudson Bay.
The Squornshelan guests arrive on a military 747:

One of the features of the Squornshelan delegation is a flight of 4 Tu-22M-3 Backfire bombers, one of which is seen here in transit from Rankin Inlet. The Backfires, which are Squornshelous primary strategic bomber, will be featured in the air shows planned for later in the week.

25 Nautical Miles from Layarteb City............
The flags flew high from the mast, the colors of the Rear Admiral popped in the bristling wind as the graceful Carrier HMS Dover slowed to a stop off the coast. Her four escorts two Sabre Class Guided Missile Destroyers HMS Piper, HMS Foy and the two Ice Patrol Corvettes HMS Forde, HMS Thor slid into a holding position beside the mammoth carrier. From this position off the coast they would wait for the port pilots to come and guide the ships safely to into the harbor. Decks we alive with crewmen busily hanging decorative flags and tape on the vessels. Others scrubbed the decks at a fevered pitch anixously awaiting the final inspection from the Rear Admiral. As they lay in waiting, the customary call was made to the harbor.
An attendant switched the Radio to the local Layarteb Coast Guard UHF Frequency. Rear Admiral Hienz took the mic and sent this message.
"Layarteb Coast Guard and shore patrol this is Rear Admiral Hienz of the Holy Republic of Hawdawg Navy. We are stationed 25 nautical miles SE of Layarteb City Port with our entries in the Regalla, we are preauthorized entry and will await the assigned port pilots to guide our ships into Layarteb City, over."
Ships in off the coast (http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/ships/carriers/kennedy/jfk-kuwait.jpg)
The ICS Ragnarok, the flagship of the Cottish navy, and her escort vessels also stood at the 25 nautical mile border and waited for the Layartebians to give the go-ahead for the Cottish ships to enter the capitol of Layarteb.
The Ragnarok was one of the mightiest vessels in the Cottish fleet, and now she was going to go to Layarteb City to show the world that Cotland was a naval superpower to be reconned with. Also, it was a great time to show off the new ships.
Other then the 320-meter long behemoth Ragnarok, the Cots brought the ICS Kubler, which was one of the most advanced and armed cruisers in the world, brandishing 144 VLS tubes and 2 8" guns, the ICS Devlin and ICS Monaco, which were both Devlin class destroyers, and the ICS Rothsky and ICS Peterson, two of the newest ASW destroyers that the Cottish fleet could muster.
ICS Ragnarok
Inside the enlisted mess of the ICS Ragnarok, the Emperor was just finishing his breakfast and the plesant conversation he had shared with two enlisted men from Tennessee and Moscow. The men had had some things they weren't too pleased with, and the Emperor had taken notice of those things for later quieries. The whole thing with the Emperor eating with the enlisted was not only a massive boost for morale, but it also allowed the Emperor to hear of the state of the Empire from someone on the end of the "food-chain".
After he had left the enlisted mess, he headed for the Admirals quarters, which Rear Admiral Jacobs had given to the Emperor and his son for the duration of the trip, to get properly dressed. Josh, the heir to the throne of Cotland, were still in his bunk, sleeping. He and his friends had been up all night playing poker with some of the enlisted men, not getting to bed untill 5.30 AM.
"Josh, we're almost there. You've got to get up now."
No response.
"Joshua! Up. Now."
Still nothing. 'Kids now a days...' the Emperor thought as he walked over to the desk and got a glass of ice cold water.
"You asked for it." the Emperor said before he turned the glass upside down over the face of his fifteen-year old son. Finally some lifesigns, in the form of a scream and a shocked fifteen-year old boy jumping up from his slumber and looking around the room to see who did it. The only man inside the cabin was his father, the Emperor of Cotland. Two of the Imperial Guardsmen standing guard outside the door did peek inside to see what was going on though.
"Oh, you're awake. Good. Go get a shower now. We'll be in port in less then half an hour."
"I just wanna sleep..."
"You could have gone to bed a little earlier. Now go. We're meeting the Layartebian Emperor today too, remember? You better look sharp."
Josh muttered something as he headed for the shower, while the Emperor continued to dress himself in his admirals uniform. If you're in the military, you're in the military.
Skies above Layarteb
The flight of 12 F/A-22B Raptors and 1 C-141B Starlifter was heading towards the Layartebian capital as well, being the aerial portion of the Cottish delegation. They had been cleared by the Layartebians, and now cruised towards the airfield in Brooklyn with Layartebian F/A-22As as escorts.

OOC: Obviously this'll be the day before the ceremonies actually begin.
The coast guard control center handling all the ships coming into and out of Layarteb City was situation roughly six miles south, on the Jersey coast. They recieved the request call from a Hawdawgian fleet sitting off the coast, 25 nautical miles away. "Hawdawgian vessels, you are cleared for ingress. Please contact harbor master for docking information. Maximum speed in port is 5 knots and please shut down all active radar systems inside port for safety reasons. Thank you and welcome to the Empire of Layarteb." The ships would be allowed passage.
Another group was waiting as well, the Cottish vessels. They were at the top of the list, along with North Germanian ships, for approval for docking. "Cottish navy this is coast guard station sixteen. You are cleared for ingress. Please contact harbor master for docking information. Maximum speed in port is 5 knots and please shut down all active radar systems inside port for safety reasons. Thank you and welcome to the Empire of Layarteb."
*****************************************
OOC: Squorn, Haw beautiful pictures. Let's make this thread picture heavy :) Also, Cotland I dispensed with the F/A and it's just F-22A, no biggie, just future reference.
It was 0800 and the speeches were about to begin. All of the ships had arrived the previous day and all aircraft around the same time. Those in attendance at the seaport were quiet now as the Admiral of the Navy took the podium. "Welcome esteemed guests and foreign dignitaries. Today is a great day for the Empire. Today marks the cessation of World War, a fabulous time of peace and prosperity shall follow. Countless lives were lost and governments toppled, all for the quest of land and power. May this never occur again." He took a pause and smiled at the clapping. "Today we shall begin Fleet Week, a week long demonstration of military prowess, space exploration, and magnificance. All who are invited are thanked for their coming. Many of you have come from afar and it is a great appreciation that you hath arrived." There was more clapping. Then he proceeded to tell a story about his days onboard a Layartebian battleship, long before he was admiral. The story was touching and everyone grew quiet. Fleet Week had begun...

Off the coast of New Jersey..................
As the commands came in from the Layarteb Coast Guard, all electronic warfare devices were shut down in safe mode. All tracking radar and sonar devices were deactivated pending arrival at port. Slowly creeping into the the ships of the fleet moved at a snails pace of 5 knots. All fighter aircraft were moored to the decks with safety lines and canopies were covered, to protect from prying eyes. The only portion of the air squadron that wasn't deactivated was the Rotary Wing. The SH-60's would act as ferries to the Hawdawg Embassy in Layarteb City were the Rear Admiral and his group would be staying. The customary call was made to the harbor master.
"Harbor Master, this is the Flagship HMS Dover we are prepositioned for tug assist into our preassigned docking positions, over."
As the tugs carefully nudged the expensive carrier into the bay the skyline of the city was quite impressive for the young sailors on board.

The Ragnarok group recieved the go-ahead and continued to steam in to Layarteb City. Within the hour, they were close enough to require tugs.
"Layarteb City Harbor master, this is ICS Ragnarok. We're in a holding position, awaiting tugs."
The tugs came quickly, and within hours the 6 ships were safely secured.

As Kart-Hadasht (http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/kirov-DDST8708700.JPG)approached Layarteb City, Duke Alphonse walked on to the bridge. [i]I love the sea, he thought to himself. He had grown up in the city of Zarzis, a port city at the end of the Car-Zar Megalopolis. He was a worthy seaman, and had sailed to ports on every continent during his time in the navy. As his ship got closer to the city, he saw the other parties Plane fly overhead, escorted by CAF-1 Thunders. He picked up the radio and said, "Layarteb City, this is the [i]Kart-Hadasht. Do we have permissio to dock?"

Some hours after the arrival of the Squornshelan guests and aircraft, the six naval vessels attending the festivities arrived at the 25 mile checkpoint and stopped to await harbor clearance. The flagship for this little taskforce was the SNS Blitzschlag, a Ticonderoga class Guided Missile Cruiser. Along with the Blitzschlag came her sister ship, the Striker and 4 Invisible class Destroyers: the Unsichtbar, Cazador, Ungesehen and Jäger.

After a few moments, the Layartebians responded and the Squornshelans continued into the harbor, where they met up with tugs and docked uneventfully.

ICS Rothsky docking in Layarteb City, all hands on deck for salute
While the dignitaries were busy listening to the speeches in the opening ceremony, things were a bit different in the Cottish ships. The crews were just finishing berakfast and getting dressed in their white Class-A uniforms, getting ready to accept the visitors. There were expected huge crowds to watch the ships, and every centimeter had been scrubbed cleaner than it had ever been. Security was going to be tight too. There would be armed sailors at the gangways and vital areas, and the hallways would be continously patrolled. On the Rothsky, one of the two SH-60R Seahawks was being rolled out on the helipad for the visitors to watch.

OOC: Great pictures guys!
The Hawdawgian ships moored up perfectly. The docks were crowded upon their arrival, many onlookers and foreign nationals there to greet the parade of ships. The skyline was towering over the ships but everywhere along the coast people stopped what they were doing and watched. Never before had foreign military vessels been allowed in Layarteb City. This was, certainly, a sight and a half.
When the Cottish vessels arrived and the The Lightning Starian ship arrived it too was a sight. The city almost shut down over the arrived of the vast number of ships arriving. It had been the most active time for the coast guard stations as well. Never before had they communicated with so many different ships in such a short amount of time.
***********************************
Crowds moved in vast numbers from the speech after it was concluded. The first Layartebian exhibit to open would be the Enterprise Exhibit. The Enterprise was the largest and most powerful aircraft carrier in the Layartebian arsenal and possibly throughout the world. It carried some 128 aircraft, was nuclear powered, and weighed more than any other ship of its class. It was, a true fist of fury. Though it would be open all day and almost everyday, the crowds swarmed to it. Countless other exhibits were going on as well, the entire coast of Manhattan from the seaport down to Battery Park was lined with ships, ceremonies, displays, and the like.
Best estimates put between seventeen and twenty-four million people in the city than normal numbers. It was a massive to-do!
Rear Admiral Hienz had all the sailors assembled on the rails of each ship for inspection. A thorough looking over was made. Each vessel was checked by Hienz to ensure cleanliness, and that security measures were met. After each inspection he addressed each crew personally.
"Men we are guests in another peoples home. I trust you will remember that your behavior is a direct reflection on our navy, and more particularly our country. Anyone getting into any trouble while in port will suffer the wrath of court martial and more importantly me! Enjoy your stay in Layarteb City gentlemen, take time to visit the other naval vessels here, and by all means if you see an idea that can better our navy, bring it to my attention. That is all, dismissed."
Each crew slowly disembarked onto the dock and began the long event-filled week in port.
Rear Admiral Hienz turned to his aides to address them next.
"Take me to the Cottish Ships, I have an old friend in the Cottish Navy I would like to look up. Then we will tour the North Germanian Fleet and the Soviet Bloc Fleet today. If I see something I like I will ask you to denote the particulars about it in the form of a daily log. Are we clear?"
Aide: " Most certainly sir."
The small group moved off the HMS Dover towards the dock and began to seek out the Cottish Vessels.
OOC: I assume you mean to head for the Cottish battleship first. If not, ignore this post.

ICS Ragnarok docked in Layarteb City
The Lieutenant in charge of the visitors on the ICS Ragnarok, the Cottish flagship, was already busy at work. The first tour of visitors had already started, and another one started in 5 minutes.
"Sir, that looks like brass over there. Eleven o'clock, heading this way. Range, 200 meters sir."
It was one of the seamen that called out. His normal post was as a gunners mate in turret 2, where he spotted the targets and gave directions. Right now, he had called the Lieutenants attention to the advancing Hawdawgian admiral and his party.
"Got it, Jansen. Let the captain know, and look sharp people."
When the Admiral started to climb the gang-plank, the Lieutenant and other seamen in the reception area snapped to attention and saluted the flag officer.
"Sir. Welcome aboard the ICS Ragnarok. I'm Lieutenant Dagstrom, responsible for visitors."
Rear Admiral Hienz stopped to address Lt. Dagstrom.
"Ah yes, the information officer. My name is Rear Admiral Hienz, I am looking for your captain. He and I served together in the Sicily campaigns what seemed like ages ago. We both had commands of ships in that conflict. I will never forget the tenacity in which he ran that boat of his. He was so zealous in pursuing the enemy that he almost forced me to ground my boat, when he turned sharp to engage a target, but enough of my babbling.
Oh where are my manners these two gentlemen are my personal aides. They help me remember things that I see by jotting them down for me. Old age is hell."
Lt. Dagstrom smiled when he heard the Hawdawgian admirals description of Admiral Jacobs, who unofficially was known as the captain.
"Yes sir. That's the captain alright. If you'll follow me sir, I'll lead you straight to him."
The Lieutenant waited untill the Admiral followed him, then headed into the labyrinth of corridors and gangways. After 6 minutes and X ladders, hatches and ribbons stating that the visitors couldn't go there, they came up to the bridge where Rear Admiral "Wild" Bill Jacobs sat in the command chair, smoking a good cigar. He spotted Lt. Dagstrom leading three foreign officers onto the bridge, and found to his joy that his friend Heinz was among them. Getting up, he answered the salute from Dagstrom.
"Thank you Lieutnant. I'll take it from here. Heinz old friend. How are you? I didn't know you were in on this show-off too."
Jacobs grinned as he patted his friend on the back and started to walk out on the observation wings just outside the bridge.
"So what do you think of my new command? She's brand new, just out of sea trials. We're just getting to know her."
The joy on the face of Rear Admiral Hienz was quite noticeable.
"Bill, its been so long. It surely is good to see you. They moved me to Head of the Procurement Department so I get to go out and "try-out" ships we are considering for service. It's not a command but hey I do get to drive a different ship every month.
I like this boat. I have been looking for a replacement Battleship and BattleCruisers for our fleet for quite a while. We are still running the Toryo Class line from CSMJ. They are a good weapons platform, but they sure are showing some age. That's why I am here to see what is out there. What are the specs on this ship that you can share with me?
Mind if I smoke. HA HA!
We have a new territory in Papua New Guinea that rolls the best mild Cuban's. Bill you outta try one of these."
Hienz pulled out his own cuban cigar and fired it up.
"Please," the Admiral said when Heinz asked if he could smoke. "Head of procurement? I never thought of you to take a desk job old friend. Ah well, whatever turns you on, eh?" Wild Bill Jacobs smiled as he joked with his friend.
"This here beauty is three hundred and twenty meters long, fourty meters wide and carries a crew of twenty three hundred. Come here. Do you see those there guns?" Bill asked, pointing with his cigar at the two forward turrets. "Those are triple turreted sixteen inch cannons, with a 55 caliber barrel. Capable of firing shells a heck of a long distance I'll tell you. Those secondary turrets are eight inch cannons. In the back, we have fourty-eight VLS tubes with Tomahawks and anti-air missiles. I've got four torpedo tubes below the sealine too. I can't tell you much about the combat systems, but I can tell you that she's got AEGIS and LAMPS III."
Bill threw his smoked-out cigar over board and down into the Hudson river before accepting a new cigar from Heinz.
"I shouldn't tell you this, but it'll be public knowledge in a week or so anyway. The navy is going to offer an export version of the Ragnarok class for sale to trusted nations. She'll be expensive, but she's well worth the money. We're going to make at least another nineteen of her for our own fleet, to incorporate with our amphibious battlegroups. I'll tell you a little something about her way of handling the seas. On the way over, we encountered a storm. Didn't feel any more than a slight roll. nothing like those old destroyers and frigates that we used to command in Sicily."
Bill looked over the harbor, and spotted a few ships bearing the Hawdawgian colors.
"Is that your ship over there? They're beautiful."
Squornshelous
29-06-2005, 22:04
As the Squornshelan vessels finished docking, the navy brass that had arrived by plane arrived for final inspections. It was hardly necessary, all four ships were clean in a clinically insane way: not a speck of dust or patch of dirt on any of them. After Vice Admiral Borg and his staff had finished with the last ship, he announced his satisfaction, and strolled of down the waterfront with Minister Markov and a handfull of other officers.
"Where to first Admiral?"
Borg pointed to a cluster of black flags flying some ways away. "I believe those are the North Germanian ships there. Why don't we pay them a visit."
Rear Admiral Hienz:
"Yes Bill that's the our new carrier from FDI, we are phasing out all Nimitz Class and Illeana-Vasilli Class carriers. We adopted three of FDI's ships to replace them. That particular carrier can support sustained operations for 168 aircraft. The real gem of the carrier is the F/A-78KB Straken Sokol's and the F-91B fighters we are currently equipping them with. The technology is so uber secret I don't know how half the stuff on the planes work. We have had aircraft attack drills with F-15, F-16, F-18,F-22 fighter aircraft and both variants won in dogfight trials hands down. Plus the paint is a special composite that actually behaves like a chameleon. The terrain the plane flies in determines the paint scheme. Little LED's embedded in the carbon fiber allow for this to happen. It is a break through in technology. Not only can each plane track and engage 20+ targets they can blend in with cloud cover, the sea, or any other atmospheric condition out there. Both planes are all about air supremacy. In fact, some of these very aircraft are at work in Liberia as we speak. Soviet Bloc has there newest variant here at the show and I would advise your people to take a look at them, they are well worth the money.
We brought the Sabre Class Destroyers simply to show off there speed. 30 knots is a feat for any warship, but this little boat can maintain 50+ knots. The infiltration capabilities of this class of Destroyers is limitless. Imagine being able to insert a SEAL Team turn around and cruise back out to 25 nautical miles within minutes. You will be off the radar before a plane or patrol boat can even think about engaging you. If you happen up on a shore patrol you just out run them while you are firing Harpoon's from the VLS launchers mounted aft. It is a brilliant design.
Our Ice Corvettes mainly show the need for a dual-purpose vessel able to patrol the rough waters of the North Sea in and above the Arctic Circle. This boat will allow us to maintain a presence in the area even when Winter forces most vessels south.
I am genuinely interested in the Battle Wagon you have here and I will discuss this with the Brass when I get back to Stockholm. I will warn you though, the head dog is looking to make our navy as uniform as possible and is considering asking FDI to build a smaller Montana Class size boat for us. I personally think the Research and Development costs will be prohibitive, but some people in my department are all about uniformity. I say the hell with uniformity and go with the best products you can find. By the way Bill, what's the range on these 16 inch guns?
Oh and the desk job, well they made me take it. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes five years ago and they forced me to give up command of my ship and gave me a promotion."
Bill had huge eyes when Heinz gave him the story of the ships he had with him, but lost the smile when he heard that his friend had Diabetes.
"My God Heinz. Diabetes? I hear that it's uncurable."
Bill shook his head. But, today wasn't a day for sorrow, but one for fun, so he changed the subject quickly.
"Well, the exact range of that there gun is classified, but it's well above 60 nautical miles, so we can sit nicely in international waters and lob off shells at the enemy beaches in preparation for our Marines. Ain't that great?
Anyway, that whole uniform fleet is a piece of manure if you ask me. Sure, it looks good, but you don't have a fleet to just look good, but to defend your country. I'll tell you this. Use your seniority to the max and get the best there is to get for your navy. I'm not only saying this because I love this here ship. I'm telling you it because our two nations are close allies, and we'll likely see action together some time in the near future, and then I don't want to fight next to a show-off fleet that looks great, but can't defend itself to the max. That's the closest way to an early death my friend.
RA Hienz:
"Cheer up old boy, there is plenty of fight left in this old sea dog! I look at the disease as an enabler not an inhibiter. I have the most influential positions in the Navy and believe you me I will leave my mark on it before I am done! Bill, I will see what I can do on getting this ship in the Arsenal. Even if they decide on a joint project, FDI can't supply them enough ships to fill all our requirements. I bet I can get a substaintal number of these boats sporting a Hawdawg flag before too long.
As much as I have enjoyed remeniscing Bill, I have to go and evaluate several other designs today. Especially before the crowds get too big to see all the goodies each boat has to offer. I will see you at some of the lectures, EOL has our delegations close together on the floor. We can set and swap sea stories if they get too boring. I must go, it was good to see you again old friend."
Rear Admiral Hienz shook the hand of Captain Jacob's and turned to head towards another vessel moored in port.
Soviet Bloc
30-06-2005, 06:31
By now, the vessels representing the Armed Republic of Soviet Bloc's Navy had been successfully led to their moors and fully docked, preparations were being made to allow for the unhindered, except security measures of course, access to most of the vessels' compartments aside from those required for security or having the potential for damage. Right now, most of the sailors of the RNS Hektor D. Vinterov, an assault carrier, were on the flight deck in their light blue uniforms, the flag of the ARSB across their right upper arm, their rank insignia on their collar and upper left arm, and their name tag and ship on their upper right chest. Any commendations or awards decorated the upper left chest region. In case any one was curious as to what the Armed Republic's land forces, as well as Marines, looked like, the full Marine complement of the vessel was on the deck as well, in full combat dress along with a few dozen members of the elite OMONIA Black Berets, who wore their pitch-black battle dress and combat suits, along with the VEPR NGCS physical enhancement suit [along with its fully enclosed helmet]. They would give demonstrations of their suit's potential if asked to do so.
However, the primary show was not of the vessel's crew, but of its aircraft complement. Aboard her deck, and in showman's fashion, were a number of premier Soviet Bloc equipment, all produced by Dat' Pizdy Arms Corporation, a leader in the arms production market. The first 'exhibit' was two F-78KN Strakhen Sokol parked side by side. For obvious reasons, their optical camoflauge had been disabled, but would be demonstrated. The two aircraft sat parked near to each other, their massive, yet sleek, bodies basking in the sunlight. Each was modified for naval combat, hence the 'N' added to its designation and were strengthened to deal with the repeated carrier landings, as well as carrying more fuel than their land-based counterparts. In appearance, the F-78KN was long and massive, its forward swept wings its most obvious feature, along with the canards and other controlling surfaces, protruding from just about everywhere. Its twin-crew cockpit was open on the first for view, and the observer would note the sheer number of glass panel monitors and the advanced control systems along with an informative monitor providing data on the Direct Neural Interface which is what the pilots use to pilot the aircraft. The second aircraft had a demonstration of the F-78KN's full cockpit heads-up display, which projected data on the entirety of the cockpit glass. Gigantic air intakes dominated the aircraft's underside, along with the aircraft's massive 30mm rotating cannon which protruded slightly from the aircraft under-right side, a motor-operated cover pulled back to reveal the death-dealing weapon [the cover was to ensure complete aerodynamics when in high-speed]. The fuselage and thick wing base were where the armaments made their home, in the internal bays of the aircraft , inside were dummy versions of the SMA-167D Medium Range Air to Air Missile, SLA-92A Long Range Air to Air Missile, and SSA-212L Short Range Air to Air missile. In the rear of the aircraft were the two incredible powerplants of the aircraft, capable of propelling it well beyond Mach 3, and even farther if the pilot was daring enough and willing to risk the loss of this $125+ Million USD aircraft. In fact, reports indicated the aircraft could outrun most missiles in straight-line flight, but this didn't matter in the tight flight patterns of air engagement at close range. Nonetheless, the observer would notice the gaping holes that were the thrust vectoring system, capable of positioning each engine's some 60,000+ pounds of thrust in nearly any direction. Each engine was cavernous, huge wonders of modern engineering is what they were, these SB-APDE-ATF-XT250 advanced pulse detonation/turbofan hybrid engines, truly in a class of their own.
A few feet from the F-78KN exhibit sat the F-41/91 exhibit, displaying the two F/A-41A [i]Ashiya [or commonly referred to as the 'Savage light]' for its distinct similairty to the F/A-91 Savage multi-role fighter and the two F/A-91AB Savage multi-role fighters. The first, the F/A-41 was a STOVL variant, utilizing a vertical lift system using a lift fan behind the cockpit for vertical landings, ducts at the wing tips and nose for maneuvering, and the rear-engine 3D thrust vectoring system for rear thrust/power on demand. The aircraft was fairly simple in appearance but complicated in nature, with its single turbofan/pulse detonation hybrid engine producing over 40,000 lbs of thrust and its incredibly advanced avionics and systems suite providing unparalled capability in the air, it was the perfect aircraft for the Armed Republic Navy's light carriers. However, the F/A-41 was designed off of the F/A-91, which absolutely stunned Navy officials in its power and performance so much that they commissioned Dat' Pizdy Arms Corporation to produce a similar, STOVL variant to replace its previous, aging fleet of STOVL/VTOL aircraft. The F/A-91A Savage holds true to its name in warfare, it is a savage fighter, unwilling to compromise, and an effective fighter in both aerial and ground attack situations. Its unsurpassed electronics package is being continually updated while the aircraft itself is updated with such technology as direct neural interfaces, optical camoflauge, and the like, creating a superb fighting machine.
F/A-41A [And what the F/A-91 would resemble]-
http://www.aircraftdesign.com/ngaf.jpg
Next to that was the MV-87C Coba exhibit. The MV-87C Coba was a light turbofan-powered vertical take off/landing transport and gunship/close air support. Of the two shown, one was the dedicated gunship and the second was the light transport, configured in a medical evac role. The first MV-87C would be striking in appearance, its dark green paint scheme and its over-abundance of armament, being the most. Other notable features would be its two turbofan engines, mounted above the wing to provide exceptional defense against ground-based weaponry. However, designed as a troop transport, the MV-87A has been refined [as commander's noticed its ability as a weapons platform] to include the capability to provide supporting fire. Four wing mounted hard points are provided for the mounting of ATGMs, FFARs, cannons, or other ordnance. An especially effective weapon for use against infantry and light vehicles is the aircraft’s advanced CFA-760D III 30mm electro-thermal automatic cannon. This cannon system uses the computer to utilize information from the aircraft's radar and other sensors to track a target in front of the aircraft in a small cone that radiates outwards. The cannon is mounted in a semi-sealed 'bubble' underneath the aircraft and can maneuver inside this bubble to fire on enemy target. This means that MV-87 only has to point its nose in a general direction while its cannon moves and locks onto the target then opens fire either on its own or by the pilot's control. This system is similar to that of the F-78K series aircraft, but different in that the cannon is also capable of being lowered out of the bubble at low speeds, becoming a three hundred and sixty degree rotateable armament system. The cannon is mounted to a remote gun pod, allowing the weapon to be lowered out of the bubble beneath the aircraft, and fire with a far greater degree of maneuverability [similar to an attack helicopter]. Both pilots wear a helmet mounted HUD system, allowing the weapons systems operator (WSO) to need only look at a target to engage [similar to attack helicopters, however ARSB pilots use the DNI]. A CFA-799A 12.7mm three-barrelled mini-gun is also mounted on the rear door to cover exiting soldiers with a hail of 12.7mm rounds. The GAU-19 is mounted to a hydraulic arm attached to the cieling of the troop compartment, and can be automatically folded to the cieling when not in use, saving space. When the rear ramp door is opened, the weapon folds down, allowing for the gunner to make use of it. It is easily aimed with little effort, as the hydraulics allow for the weapon to be easily manuevered. It is truly a devastating piece of machinery.
The transport variant was similar but instead of wing-mounted armament it could carry 'equipment pods' which could carry supplies, electronic warfare equipment, or countermeasures. The MV-87D Coba, however did still carry the twin cannons [nose mounted and rear mounted], yet the inside was different, allowing for up to eighteen fully armed and equipped infantrymen or six litters of patients and their medical personnel, along with the gunner and load master.
The two aircraft would be completely open to observation and walking through, personnel were nearby to answer any questions or explain any features of the aircraft.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Chlevenkov/Specialforcesinsertion.gif
Finally, the two F-67K Strakhen Sokol Dva sat at the far end, guarded intensely but allowed for public viewing and questions [not all would be answered]. Externally, it was very similar to the Strakhen Sokol yet it somewhat larger and incorporated a more angular appearance. But the similarity ended there, internally it was a radical new beast, still in the testing phase and unlikely to ever see export, unless there was enough interest or if allies were interested in the aircraft.
Rear Admiral Ivan Kholvsk surveyed the flight deck below, idly smoking the last bit of his Vilnerov cigar. He took the final drag and set the smoldering tip in the nearby ash tray. He exhaled the smoke and then inhaled it, revelling in its 'flavor'. He stepped from the bridge's windows and grabbed his officer's hat, firmly fitting it to his head. "Well, I suppose we should be off and make some friends, eh?" He recieved a light chuckle from the assembled senior officers. They wouldn't know many here, just their Layartebian and North Germanian counterparts, otherwise they had had little interaction with most everyone else here, it'd be a fine time to make some friends, especially with similar 'salty gents' as the Naval officers had become known back home by their aerial and ground-based partners.
"Well sir, first off, we're going to head down on the flight deck and mill around for awhile, see if anyone wants to come to us, then, well, you can lead the way, sir."
"Sounds good, when am I supposed to meet up with the Kagan and his entourage?"
"I believe tonight at the luncheon... Not entirely sure, I'll have Yuriy check it out."
"Great... Well, keep me informed on the matter." He turned towards a stately man, dressed in his blue naval officer's uniformed, literally covered in gold, "Captain, shall we go?"
The man, the commanding officer of the carrier, but the subordinate to the Rear Admiral, who was in active command of this 'task group' [for the activities] gave an assuring nod, "Might as well, sir."
The admiral and his entourage would move to the flight deck first and then eventually peruse the nation's vessels here.
The other two vessels, the Torrent-class arsenal ship and the RNS Zlatoslav guided missile frigate, would be on full display, allowing tours of their impressive capabilities.

The Cottish Emperor was about to start his own tour. His first port of call would be the Layartebian carrier "Enterprise", a massive and powerful vessel. Similar to the Cottish Universe class actually.
A lot of people had showed up for the Fleet Week, and the Imperial Guardsmen were frustrated. How the hell were they supposed to keep the Emperor safe when he insisted to walk to the exhibit, out among the masses? Sure, they had the twenty heavily armed IGs, as well as a Layartebian security detail with equal amounts of firepower, but that still didn't mean that the soldiers responsible for the life of the Emperor were happy.
The Emperors son, Josh, and his friends were on their way through the many exhibits, discreetly guarded by another fifteen IGs and two aides, both trained in various martial arts disiplines and firearms. The Emperor had ordered them to act discreetly, not wanting his son to feel guarded and isolated from the world because of his status as heir to the Cottish throne. He had to get to live his life, especially now when he was in his teens. There would be time for the many duties that comes with ruling later.
At long last, the Emperor of Cotland and his entourage reached the ILS Enterprise, much to the relief of the IGs. At least now the Emperor would be relatively out of the way from the masses.

The men aboard the Enterprise saluted the Cottish Emperor as he boarded. They were under orders to salute every head of state or government as a sign of respect. As they did, the Cottish security detail followed.
The Emperor himself was onboard as well, sitting in the officers mess, below decks, heavily guarded. He was to have a meeting with the Cottish Emperor and he was expecting them.

The Kreynorian vessels had by this time reached the boundary between Layarteb's territorial waters and international waters. It had been a very long trip. The Montana-class Kilauea had been too large to fit through the Panama Canal, so the group had to go across the south Pacific, around the Cape of Good Hope, and all the way up the Atlantic to get to Layarteb City. The Kreynorian fleet hailed the Layarteb government, requesting permission to enter port.

The group of Squornshelan brass arrived at the North Germanian group of ships and walked up the gangplank of the Stahlheim.
Emperor Thomas returned the salute from the Layartebians and was, along with his entourage, escorted down to the officers mess. Upon entering, Thomas saw his good friend the Layartebian Emperor, and walked over to the Emperor, smiling.
"How are you my friend? All good I hope?"
The security detail waited in the background along with the rest of the entourage.

The Emperor greeted Thomas and sat back down. "I've felt better to be honest. I hope you are enjoying your stay here in Layarteb City and what you are seeing? Your son, is he enjoying himself?"
Thomas sat down in a chair opposite the Emperor before he answered.
"Yes, the hospitality I've experienced has been above all expectations. I haven't gotten a chance to see much of the city, but I'm sure I will. Josh is having the time of his life. Right now, he and his friends are out enjoying the events of the city, but he'll be at the luncheon later today. He's looking forward to meet you. After all, he'll be the emperor of Cotland when I pass away and should know the various leaders of the world. Wouldn't you agree?"
Then a Layartebian enlisted man came over and asked if the two heads of state wanted anything to drink. Thomas ordered a coffe before he listened to the Emperor.

"I'll have a Scotch, no water or ice." The enlisted man saluted and left. "I agree. I look forward to meeting him. I have a serious problem that you and I ought to discuss. It pertains to Colerica. The Empire of Layarteb has vastly expanded our territorial holdings in North America and our plan for a Layartebian province includes 75% of Colercian territory."
Thomas was slightly surprised at the Layartebian plans, but didn't show it.
"I see. Memory serves, Colericas territorial holdings consist of Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa. Ergo, you would have to attack from land and air in order to secure the areas. I'm not completely certain as to Colericas military strength though."
The enlisted came back with a coffee and a Scotch and handed the beverages to the heads of state before he saluted and left. Thomas took a sip before he continued.
"I can assure you that Cotland will not object to the annexation. I'm even willing to offer support in the form of troops if you want them. We're reforming our army, so it would be a good chance to see if the strategists got it right this time around."

"Our desire is to keep the presence of foreign military assistance on the DL, if you know what I mean. Any Special Forces or Black Forces would be better off than regular military units. If it were discovered that a Cottish military unit were there it could escalate a small anexation into a massive global conflict and we just got out of one. North Germanian assistance will be requested as well, in much the same way, completely incognito."
Thomas understood the logic in the request, and started twisting his mind for appropriate units. Theta was an option, but they were completely unknown to everyone expect the highest-ranking officers in Cotland and the Emperor. No, it would have to be the Rangers then.
"Of course. Perhaps I could dispatch some of our Rangers to assist. They are our most common special forces unit, and are well trained for almost any sort of warfare scenario. What kind of fighting do you expect will be used? Urban, conventional?"

"Intelligence is still being gathered but we do not doubt they will use effective and highly advanced means that will need counter-operation. Airbase seizure will be crucial. Your soldiers cannot wear any identifying markings, nor can North Germania, nor can our own Special Forces. Discreetness is crucial. It will be an air and land attack with smaller, patrol corvettes using the Great Lakes for anti-shipping means."
"I see. They will not wear any identifying marks, save their dogtags naturally. The weapons they use will most likely be Cottish issue. M8s and M35s. I'm sure you know the M35. We bought them from you," Thomas said before he took a sip of the coffe. It was a fine blend, no doubt from Colombia. The Colombians made some of the best coffee in the world. "Rest assured sir. The men will act most discreetly, and would rather die before capture. The way I see it, the best way of insertion would be HALO jumps from a MC-130. A platoon-sized Ranger unit can do a lot of damage if it's inserted with the element of surprise intact."
Layarteb
05-07-2005, 01:27
"HALO jumps are indeed an option we have entertained for this mission." He sipped his scotch and enjoyed the burning feeling in this throat. "Enjoying that coffee? Straight from Colombia."
"Yes, it's wonderful. We've got to get a trading deal concerning coffee trade from Colombia to Cotland. I'm sure it will have a broad audience there. Speaking of trading deals, I hope the transfer of power in Tennessee went off without a hitch. I'm very pleased with the new Atlantic port we've got in North Carolina. You know, I'm heading down there with the Ragnarok when the Fleet Week is over."

"Yes it went off without a hitch. That worried me but indeed. Best sailing down there, it's hurricane season further south, unfortunately. You know, as well as I do, that trade deals are instant approval between our two nations. Back onto Colercia. What concessions would you ask for such a venture?"
"Not much. Some consulates in the new territories and you letting Cottish companies get a foothold in the new territories? Exchange of technology? I'm still amazed at how you managed to pick up our stealth fighters in the wargame we had a few months ago...."

Grand Duke Alphonse stepped off the ship to and walked into Layarteb City. Not too shabby, he thought to himself. Of course, nothing compared to Neo-Carthage, the newest and largest city in the world(OOC: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that no one has a city larger than 75 million. And don't just come up with that number right now), but Layarteb city was grand in itself. While Neo-Carthage was more of a symbol of technological might, Layarteb City was more of a symbol of Military and Industrial might. Ah well, to each his own.
As he saw that the other parties in his delegation went to inspect other things, the Duke looked around for someone to talk too. His guards warned him against mingling with the public, but the Grand Duke decided to talk to the common folk, and see what they thought of their nation. Of course, he was also just looking for a way to kill time while waiting for a representative from another nation to talk to him.

The Emperor smirked. "I was waiting for that question to pop up sooner or later. I am told, by my military liasons, that the method for tracking them was quite simple, something already in existence. It's classified though, you know, good stuff." He laughed. "Your military did have a few surprises for us. Brilliant work knocking out our long-range SAM sites."
**********************************
OOC: TLS no it isn't bigger than 75 million. I never quite figured its population siez for E2. I mean my Empire is 3.5b and confined to an area smaller than China so I don't know where I have them all.
"I sorta knew that was going to be the answer. Well, I'll see what the R&D people have to say when I get home." Thomas said before finishing his cup of coffee. "Well, we know what to fear, and how to take it down. But I'm not going to go further into tactical doctrine. We've just modified it though, based largely on the experiences gained in the wargame. Let me assure you. We've got several new surprises for anyone stupid enough to confront us. Speaking of which, we might have a situation in Liberia. As you know, it used to be in the hands of Yelm. When the Yelmians experienced the unrest, they withdrew the majority of their military in Liberia, causing the nation to fall into anarchy and unrest. Cotland moved in and our Marines and Paratroopers are restoring law and order there as we speak, alongside Hawdawgian Marines. However, I've got some credible intel from..." Thomas paused to think how he would relay the information from the spies in Yelm without blowing the cover of the operatives. He moved slightly closer to the Emperor, lowering his voice so that the others in the room wouldn't hear what he had to say. It was clear that this was red-hot information, and definately not for everyone. "Credible sources in Yelm, who are telling me that the Yelmians are planning to retake their territory. Our satellites have confirmed that the Yelmians are moving their fleets northwards from the homeland in Antartica. Knowing the massive might of the Yelmian armadas, I would like to know if Layarteb will assist us if we're attacked. There's no way in hell our navy can withstand the might of the Yelmians alone."

"The Yelmian situation is on the plate, so to speak. We've been monitoring it as it has been developing. We have planned ASUW and ASW operations against the Yelmian fleet from our ships in the Atlantic and from long-range bases in South Eastern Virginia. What we do not understand though is why the Yelmians, all of a sudden, are pushing forward without any support of their own. Do they not know the armada of supporters for Cotland?"
"Apparently they don't," Thomas said. "But they will learn if they are foolish enough to continue. I am glad that I can rely on Layartebs assistance."
Thomas waited for a moment before he spoke again, this time with a smile.
"As you know, we've discussed the plans for sale of indiginous Cottish ship designs through Layarteb before, and in great detail. Now seems like a good time to finalize the plans, wouldn't you agree? I've got the plans right here."
An aide came over with two dossiers and handed them to the two heads of state. Inside were the details on the deal and attachments where the plans and specifications for the various vessel classes were. Naturally, they were export designs, not as capable as the full versions that were entering use in the Imperial Cottish Navy.
"The Ragnarok class battleship, Kubler class cruisers, Devlin and Rothsky class destroyers, Bergen class frigate, Tennessee class submarine and Winters class dock landing ship. Export version, naturally. The plans are all there, and so are the specifications. If you would like to see the vessels in real life, then we have both Ragnarok, Kubler, Devlin and Rothsky class vessels right here in the harbor."

"This is a perfect time to see the vessels. I will descend upon them today or tomorrow, time permitting. The Layartebian Defense Corporation will be authorizing sale of such vessels. They will be constructed by your shipyards though. All orders placed with the LDC will find 80% profit to you and 20% to us. If we were to construct them ourselves it would be reversed." He began to look at the blueprints. They were fine quality ships, nothing like the Unforgiven or Dnalkrad but they were of high caliber nonetheless.
"Wonderful. I'm sure you will be impressed at the vessels. They are manned by Cotlands finest." Thomas smiled. "As we agreed upon earlier, the construction will occur mainly in Cottish shipyards, but if the demand outweighs our ability to deliver within a reasonable amount of time, production can be started in Layarteb as well."
Thomas then pulled out a golden pen and handed it to the Emperor.
"As you can see, the deal are ready to be signed. It's just formalities, but still. It needs to be done. Would you like to do the honors?"

As the Emperor and his party disembarked from the Kilauaea, he mentally sighed. Layarteb City was all glass and steel skyscrapers, and the roads were jammed with all manner of polluting vehicles, in stark contrast to Kreynoriapolis, in which almost all the buildings were wood and stone and the cars ran on clean hydrogen. At least the city wasn't foggy. The combination of being on an island and water vapor-producing hydrogen cars meant that Kreynoriapolis was enshrouded in thick mist 24/7. They briskly walked toward the limosines that would take them to their luxury hotel, tersely stopping to greet the other national leaders.

The Grand Duke, who had been trained in the art of stealth when he served in the military, slid into the crowds of average Layartebians(is that right?) near the group of leaders. He got into his casual clothes(which are real casual clothes: jeans, t-shirts, sunglasses, etc) and began to talk among the populace. Seeing how he spoke perfect English, alot of people would think he was someone from the more southern reaches of the Empire, giving him the chance to fit in. He would ask about daily life in Layarteb. One man replied, "It's good. I mean, as you know, we don't really get much of a say in things, but it's not like the government is constantly breathing down our necks, ready to crash open our heads at a moment's notice. I've got a job, I've got a home, I've got a family, I've got peace, and I've got money. Alot more democracy would be nice, but I'm not willing to throw away what I've earned for it."
That was the tone of pretty much everyone he talked too. They'd also talk about sports, the weather, T.V., and the news. Not many of them had been out much or payed much attention to International News, so the Grand Duke managed to go by unrecognized. After he grabbed a hot-dog and sat in the park, he slipped back into his Ducal uniform and re-joined the big party.

OOC: TLS you've got it down pretty well except one thing. Sure they have all that and sure the government doesn't breathe down their necks but there is 'free' media in the EOL so they do get a good amount of say in things, just not politically. Everyone is also a lot more aware of the news both domestically and internationally than any real-life American. But other than that you've got it..
The crowds were massive. The Emperor, outside, on the decks of the ships, was inundated with people, looking to shake his hand, sign autographs, and just say hello. He figured, given the massive security screenings in place at each ship exhibit, it would be a perfect opportunity. People were forced to step through metal & X-Ray detectors to gain access to the ship. Anything thicker than tissue showed up, especially plastic weapons. Thus far, though, nobody had tried to come on with anything more than a camera. Tourists were they all!

The Emperor smiled as he signed autographs. He rarely went out in public like this and his citizens adored it. Though many of them wanted total freedom, more or less the freedom to vote, they didn't have it too bad. They had freedom of speech, free press, free will to do as they please, within the bounds of the law, and the freedom to live their life without government involvement. It was an authoritarian state, no doubts about it. However, the only freedom they did not enjoy was that of major free elections. There was some democracy in Layarteb, but at the local levels. Towns, villages, cities, and counties elected their own leaders. States were appointed by a council and the Province governors were appointed by the Emperor. In Republics, they had free elections across the boards but they were limited, in many ways. That was how it was in the Empire.

OOC: Shall we jump ahead to the ball of the evening. Yes this is still Day 1.
The Waldorf-Astoria was bustling and busy. Guests from all over the globe were in attendance, as were the press. The Emperor had already arrived, using his permanent suite to his advantage. Security was tight. Nobody without prior approval was getting up to the main ballroom for the event and that meant NOBODY. Guests were required to register their own guests and so on and so fourth. With over 1,500 people in the massive ballroom, capable of holding 2,000, the festivities were about to begin. At 2000, the Emperor took the microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen. It is my pleasure and my honor to welcome all of you to my humble home," there was laughter amongst the crowd. "We have spared no expense for you and we wish to welcome you to Fleet Week. Please, and this is a demand by me and my government, have a good time. Anyone not having fun will be in violation of our laws." He smiled and the band kicked off.
Thomas I, Emperor of Cotland, were in the ballroom, listening to the speech from the Layartebian Emperor. When he finished, Thomas got a double Scotch from a waiter and progressed forward towards the Germanian delegation to talk a bit with them.
**************
In the meanwhile, Admiral Jacobs walked over to Admiral Heinz of the Hawdawgian Navy.
"Hey Heinz. Seen much impressive stuff today?" he asked while sipping to a glass of brandy.
Admiral Heinz: "Why yes I did Admiral. I was attempting to get onto the North Germanian Battleship, but the Layartebian crowd saw the emperor and we were swept up into the mass of people. I didn't get on the ship, but it looked quite impressive. Maybe tomorrow I will make it onto the ship.
On a side note, I am worried about my grandson. His unit is in Bopulu fighting with the Cottish Airborne so I am told. He sure has made his grandpa proud."

Vice Admiral Borg happened to be standing near Admiral Heinz when he made the comment. He turned, the silver decorations on his black and red uniform reflecting the light from the chandeliers overhead.
"I don't mean to interrupt gentlemen, but I made it onboard a few of the Germanian ships this afternoon. I think you'll find them very impressive, particularly the Stahlheim, Ganz and Kain class vessels."
Admiral Heinz turned to address the Squornshelian Admiral. His undersecretary had procured a list of all the diginitaries that would be in attendance and had worked with Admiral Heinz all week to familiarize himself with the intended guests of the event.
"Ah, Vice Admiral Borg is it? Let me introduce myself, I am Admiral Heinz of the Royal Hawdawg Navy, and this old fellow is a scalawag and a half. Just kidding Jacobs, this is Admiral Jacobs of the Cottish Navy. You won't meet a finer or more capable captain as my esteemed colleague at this event. Yes that was some traffic jam on the the dock today. Tell me what new weapons systems did the Kaiser send for us to look at on his newest Battleship? Are there any suprises they have installed lately?"
Jacobs extended his hand to the Squornshelian Admiral and shook it.
"Nice to meet you Admiral. I've heard much good about those Germanian ships, but I haven't had a chance to visit any of them yet. A shame, really. Say, whenever you get the chance, you've got to let me give you a tour of my own ship. I don't want to brag, but she is a beauty."
Jacobs was really proud of his ship, one of the newest and without a doubt most powerful vessels in the port. After all, it wasn't every day you got to command the flagship of the fleet.
"That reminds me Jacob's, we had discussed your flagship earlier, we need to set down and hammer out some specifics. Our correspondence with FDI has broken down. Apparently the Execs are on vacation and everyone there is noncommital at this point until the big boss arrives back from Amsterdam. We might be able to work out a partial trade in this deal, we have several AEIGIS Class Cruisers and Destroyers we have phased out you might be able to use."
The Admiral awaited his Cottish counterparts reply.
Jacobs thought it over before he answered.
"Well, we too have many old Arleigh Burke and Ticonderoga class AEGIS vessels in our mothballs, so I'm not sure if we need more, if you know what I'm saying. But I think I can be able to arrange for a discount for you guys if you want to buy some of the ships. I'll naturally have to talk to the Emperor about it before I committ to anything. After all, it is he who is in charge."
Jacobs took a sip from his glass of brandy.
"This is only rambling from a old man, but I'm pretty sure that the Emperor will agree to giving you up to twenty percent off the asking price. Would that be good for your navy? They're pretty damn good ships. You saw her yourself today Heinz. If you're still not sure, how about we take a good tour of it tommorrow morning before the crowds come aboard?"

The Emperor, sitting on the balcony perch above the main dance floor. It was about 10 feet up and he had his guards within arms reach. "What a party," he said to himself as he sipped scotch. "Is Emperor Thomas here?" He asked his immediate aide, who was with him for the duration of the night. "If so, please summon him to me immediately. There is something important he and I need to discuss." The aide nodded and stepped out of the balcony, moving through the crowd to find the Cottish Emperor.

Borg smiled as he shok each man's hand.
"Very pleased to meet both of you. Unfortunately, I don't have a command here myself. The Navy department has me chained to a desk; I used to be an attack sub driver, so I particularly enjoyed the tour of the Germanian Stealth Submarine. Of course, they're very secretive about it all, but what they did show us was very nice, very top of the line. I'm afraid I can't say that about the Squornshelan vessels here. Out military is stretched a bit thin at this time, so all we could spare are two AEGIS cruisers and 4 destroyers."
Borg looked around and continued, "Well, I look forward to visiting your vessels, and perhaps seeing you visiting one of our Invisible class destroyers."
With that, he walked off to mingle elsewhere.
OOC: FYI Vice Admiral Borg is soon to be Admiral Borg, and has recently been made Squornshelous's COMSUBPAC.
Emperor Thomas was making his way through the crowds towards the Germanians when his guards stopped someone trying to pass. The man explained something to them, and one of the guards whispered to Thomas that the man was an aide to the Layartebian Emperor, who had requested his presence. Thomas nodded before he motioned the aide to lead the way. The guards followed.
After a bit of negotiating the crowds, the aide lead him up a set of stairs and onto a balcony where the Layartebian Emperor sat. The Imperial Guards took up positions along with their Layartebian counterparts and left the two heads of state relatively alone. Thomas was offered a leather chair, which he accepted. Having emptied his Scotch, he ordered another one as well as a Cuban cigar before he sat down.
"Emperor, good to see you again. I was told it was urgent?"

The Emperor smirked. "Good party huh?" The Emperor sipped his scotch and turned to his bodyguards. "We'll need a few feet." They understood and stepped back. "I have recieved confirmed from the leaders of North Germania, Soviet Bloc, and Hirgizstan. I would like to inform you that your membership into The October Alliance has been approved. We would like to welcome you to this alliance. We stick to nations founded in October but, in this case, we can make an exception for such a loyal ally."
Thomas smiled at the news of Cotlands admission to the glorious October Alliance. It was one of the highest honors that Cotland could possibly recieve.
"Thank you sir. I must say, on behalf of Cotland, that it is an honor to have been admitted to the alliance. Rest assured, Cotland will do whatever is required of it to prove itself as a worthy member of the alliance. Please extend my thanks and gratitude to the leaders of Soviet Bloc, Hirgistan and North Germania. On the other hand, I'll be sure to thank North Germania personally. Sir, a toast to the October Alliance!"
Thomas raised his newly filled scotch for the toast.

"Yes, a toast is right." He sipped the glass and smirked. "Now I understand you have inquired about several systems that have been, up until this point, off-limits?"
"Yes. My military advisors have been drooling over many of the systems you have, such as that attack helicopter... what was the name... ah yes. The 'Stalker'. That's the one. And there was a certain bomber. The B-7, I think. Needless to say, Cotland would be more able to defend itself and its allies if we were to gain access to such systems." Thomas took another sip and lighted up the cigar. "I hope you don't mind sir. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm not quite sure which systems that are available."
Layarteb
25-07-2005, 20:21
"You are quite right. The AH-94, as we call it, our allies each have different designations, is a system available to the whole alliance without charge. The B-7C Incubs, on the other hand, comes from the LDC and with it, it's power and precision."
"I see. So I could just say that I wanted seven hundred units of the Stalker, and I'd get it, or permission to build them? Either way, you can be sure that Cotland would like to buy some three hundred units of the Incubus. I'll have to get a full briefing on the available systems when I get back to Cotlandstad."
Layarteb
25-07-2005, 20:32
"Indeed. The details can be sent to you upon your arrival." The Emperor looked around. "You know, they've had significant success, those B-7s. Our own versions, the classified ones I mean, naturally, have had extreme success."
"Excellent. I'm very excited now, and I'm sure my generals and admirals are even more excited at the terrabytes of new information they will recieve. They're gonna have a field day at this."
Thomas looked out at the party and saw the people from the many nationalities mingle and chat with eachother.
"I must commend you on the party, old friend. It's a real success. Were you aboard the Ragnarok today?"
Layarteb
26-07-2005, 16:07
"No I did not get to venture over there. I have been detained, for the most part of the day. I will be venturing over there either tomorrow or the day after. Pressing matters elsewhere in the world may keep me away. There is only so much we can do. Unfortunately, it seems like more than even we can handle is breaking in the world right now." He took the last sip of his scotch and looked around.
At that same time, something fishy was going on. Two Black Ops, standing in the far side of the room had keyed up their microphones and whispered, "ALERT FIVE." That meant there was a possible assassin in the room. Neither of them took their eyes off one individual, who was standing about two hundred feet from the Emperor and the Cottish Emperor, both in the upper balcony.
"Indeed. Let's just hope that a new world war doesn't erupt while we're sitting here drinking," Thomas said while taking a sip of his own scotch.
Behind him, the Imperial Guards noticed their Layartebian counterparts getting more alert. As such, they discreetly opened their jackets, allowing for a quick grip on the M45A1 pistols in the holsters on the sides. The M45A1, a Cottish design, was a reliable, accurate pistol that fired the .45 ACP round. Each magazine held twelve rounds, as well as one in the chamber. The Imperial Guards also had five spare magazines, making for a total of 61 rounds per Imperial Guard.
Each of the four men in the Emperors personal security detachment were officers in the Imperial Cottish Army, and had from ten to seventeen years of faithful and dedicated service to the Empire. Now the senior of them, a Lieutenant Colonel, lifted his secured radio to the rest of the Imperial Guards in the ballroom and around and said "Condition Yellow". That meant that the security were to be increased, but that they didn't know just what was happening yet. They would have to wait and see, but at the first wiff of trouble, they would jump in front of the Emperor with pistols raised and hold off any potential assassins while they waited for the reinforcements, who had MP5Ks and other heavy weaponry.

The man in question was Edgar Martinez, a Layartebian citizen. He had been recognized by one of the Black Agents in the room and that was no good. COL. Delaney, who was within earshot of the Emperor, picked up the situation on his earphone and looked down. "Detain him." As he did, three men came up to Mr. Martinez and politely asked him to follow them. Their version of polite meant showing their pistols and looking very seriously. He would be taken to a room within the vacinity of the ballroom, where COL. Delaney would personally interrogate him.
The LtCol saw the three Layartebians, who had to be security guards, walk up to a man and follow him away, after which the Layartebian guards started to calm down. The LtCol then picked up the microphone again and said "Clear." The Cottish security detachment all calmed down, buttoned up their jackets again and went back to the normal routine.
Emperor Thomas looked over to the Layartebian Emperor, aware that something was happening ignoring it. If there were something that needed his attention, he would be alerted about it soon enough. Instead he continued the talks with his old friend.
"Well, I don't want to brag, but the Ragnarok class is one of the finest ships in the world. You haven't seen a warship before you've seen the Ragnarok. Her captain, Rear Admiral Jacobs, is down there in the ballroom somewhere too. He's one of the finest naval officer in Cotland. That's the reason why he got the command. But your Enterprise class isn't bad either." he quickly added after the bragging of the Ragnarok class.

I will be stopping by the Ragnarok in a day or two." He stood with the Cottish Emperor, shook his hand, and walked off, following COL. Delaney towards a far, back room where the man was being held.
Upon entering, the Emperor saw that he was restrained with plastic ties. "So, you thought you would come to this party and ruin it huh Mr. Martinez."
"To hell with you. The Golden Brigade of Freedom is here to deliver a message to the world."
"What's that? You want some cereal in the morning?"
"Insolence! The Yucatán will be free. You watch!"
"I will watch my men crush your entire, little, pathetic force of farmers with ptich forks." The Emperor smirked and nodded to Delaney, who gave Mr. Martinez a whack. "Now, you will be living in a new home. I hope you like it."
"I will be free; Yucatán will be free."
"Gentlemen, make Mr. Martinez acquainted with his new home at WVPPP."
"Understood sir." COL. Delaney nodded as the men picked up Mr. Martinez and escorted him out of the hotel the back way. He would be given a tranquilizer and would wake up 12 hours later, sitting in a cell inside a mountain on the border of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, where he would live for the rest of his natural life.
