(LNN) - The Empire of Layarteb, Sunday, in a surprise move, has launched a ground offensive into New Jyrian French Guyana. In light of recent government abandonments, the Empire of Layarteb is acting to protect the citizens of a gracious neighbor from foreign attack and seizure. The Emperor appeared on live television roughly fifteen minutes after the offensive began to say this:

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the Empire. It is currently 2015 and I have authorized the annexation of French Guyana. Recently, government activitity in the New Jyrian territory has dropped off. Crime has been exponentially high and the lives of millions is in jeopardy from external invasion. The army is in disrepair and Layartebian citizens residing in French Guyana are at risk. It is my objective to return order and control to French Guyana until the New Jyrian government can sort out its affairs and tend to its territory once again. Thank you. Goodnight."

The Emperor concluded his speech after only a few minutes. Other senior officials are quoted as saying that the invasion is just and that the territory is in horrible disrepair. As the Layartebian government takes control of the territory, it will recieve the status of protectorate under the Empire. This is the same status as Kaliningrad. The territory will be allowed to self-govern in a manner they sit fit with only as much Layartebian military presence as they desire.

As the Emperor made his speech, the 2nd Army Group, 1st Army, made its way across the border with supporting cavalry and aerial units. The 155,000 soldiers and their hundreds of vehicles and at least four hundred helicopters flew towards key cities and the capital. From the sea, naval units set down troops in force, three Marine brigades of 7,500 soldiers and 240 vehicles each would secure the beach head on three different locations. Air Force units would be available as well to provide CAP, CAS, and strike sorties, just to name a few.

The New Jyrian military was in disarray. What little elements were combat ready and combat effective were too far away, at the moment to be of any hassale. It would like, they imagined, like the invasion of IDF Indiana. What few military elements were still loyal to the crumbled government put up a good fight but were easily overcome by Layartebian units.

As Fleet Week commenced in Layarteb City and the Layartebian admiral spoke of peace and prosperity in the world, a massive army was occupying Saint-Élie. F-22A Raptors kept vigiliance in the air as military loyalists, albeit not many, launched guerilla attacks against occupying forces inside the city. Roughly a quarter of the invasion force would occupy Saint-Élie, another quarter for Cayenne, and the rest dispersed throughout the country.

Layartebian forces, after sixteen hours inside the city, lost roughly 80 soldiers and 6 vehicles, all to guerilla rocket attacks, mostly with RPGs and anti-tank munitions fired from rooftops and apartment buildings.

Overhead, F-22A Raptors kept a watch on the skies whilst F-15E Strike Eagles came in to provide close air support. Loaded heavy with cluster bombs, iron bombs, and guided munitions, the F-15E Strike Eagles zoomed overhead at 550 knots, 15,000 feet, and dropped flares as they flew. One F-16C Falcon had been downed to a surface-launched missile and they didn't want to follow. The pilot had been killed.

At the same time, naval elements began strike sorties against a massive contingent of loyalists in Cayenne. Best estimates put the number between twenty and sixty thousand, all heavily armed and all fierce fighters. AWACS reported some low-level air activity, most likely helicopters, but thus far, Layartebian aircraft had not engaged any enemy aircraft in the air. Bombing sorties destroyed some fifty-six fighers, sixteen bombers, and eighteen helicopters, all on the ground.
