The Shalrirorchian government, in response to the wholesale enslavement of native populations by neo-conservative governments (ex. El Caudillo and the Turtas), has begun exerting influence in some of the as-yet unclaimed and unexplored territories closer to it. Chief among these territories is the Acadian islands chain, home of the stone-age Shatau and Kelevar clans. Shalrirorchian Marines have moved ashore on these islands and begun the construction of defensive installations on islands not inhabited by (but adjacent to) the natives.
"It is clear to Shalrirorchia that the forces of the fascist and fundamentalist governments of the world have grown bold." the State Department announced Tuesday. "From this point on, Shalrirorchia will seek to protect the weak and powerless more aggresively than we have in the past. Governments such as these must be contained and pressured at every turn to prevent them from spreading the contagion of repression and hatred to other lands where it has not yet taken root."
In a press conference, Vice President Dean called again on the international community to step up and contain the expansion of what he called, "the coalition of the neo-Right."
"Although I do not mean to impugn the values of conservatism in general," Dean said, "it cannot escape notice that most of the atrocities committed recently throughout the world have been executed by neoconservative governments like El Caudillo."
