History:
The Holy Republic of Hawdawg was established in 1752 when a group of Nomadic McBoir clansmen from the sands of Jordan migrated westward. The McBoir Clan flourished in the fertile western plain of the Nile. The year 1857 marked the end of a legacy when the last ruling McBoir King Salimen, passed into the afterlife. With this passing the tiny clan village of Kossuth grew into a nation based on democratic principles.
In 1937 the current system of government was established after a terrible run of bad Prime Ministers. The ruling party, the Gizen, had offered Samuel Grimes as a candidate and the minority party, the whigs, started a record-setting 358 day fillibuster to block his consideration. Utter chaos insued and the whigs forced the Gizen to accept new terms for consideration for the position. New Prime Minister's would be elected as lifetime candidates along with the Defense Minister, and the Secretary of State. These candidates would be nominated by each party and voted upon in general elections.
Many battles have been fought for the Republic. Most notably the Hawdawg military has performed courageously in Sicily, The Wickian Campaign, Guinea Bissau, Norway, and Tuvalu. After a series of skirmishes the fledgling country purchased Sweden and Finland from an eager seller and the rest is history. With the expanded territory the economic engine began to turn and gains in international clout and prestige were earned. After the “Blood in the Snow” conflict, based on pure imperialistic ideals, the territorial gains expanded to consume Norway and England. With the newly added lands, the Holy Empire stands as a formidable presence in Northern Europe. Recent trades with Cotland have expanded the influence of Hawdawg into Russian territories of Karelia and Leningrad Oblast in exchange for holdings in Norway. St. Petersburg was the newest Crown Jewel in the Hawdawg legacy of memorable capitals, and stands to become a hub for trade in the Western Russian territories, along with securing the largest coastline in the Baltic Sea. Texas was recently added to the Holy Republic of Hawdawg realm as a protectorate, after its purchase from RomeW. Several years ago Hawdawg was offered a membership the October Alliance. The Republic graciously accepted this position and now holds a seat in one of the most influental organizations within Earth II.
The Republic of Hawdawg has several other industries active in country to include Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Beef Cattle Production. Nuclear Power Stations where opened over 50 years ago with many protests from the populace. To date, the record of environmental stewardship by these plants is astounding. In fact, a clean environment is strictly enforced. Our nation has flourishing space program and has successfully launched several satellites into space. The scenery is very breathtaking in the countryside and we are listed as a top tourism spot in the region. Hawdawg prides itself on the education of its children. Tomorrow’s leaders, as they are often called, enjoy one of the finest educational programs in the region. Military Service is Compulsory in Hawdawg and upon graduation of High School all students must perform four years of service for the country.
The Holy Republic recently recieved an award for its excellent trading strategies within the international trading sector and through the HSE's work in the BISE. In addition to worldwide stock deals the Republic also handles numerous funds through several accounts, recently establishing a national set of accounts in the Bank of Saint Lazare. Currently over 1 Trillion USD resides in a CD within the bank earning interest for any "rainy days" the Republic might face.
