yep Canada is open. As for military stats we try to keep 1962 tech and keep the militaries around true to that but you use your nation states stats for the Earth. Just register on the forum and you can begin RPing

Nicaragua and Paraguay were very anti-communist. Ever heard of Alfredo Stroessner? He was President of Paraguay then. And Luis Somoza, another staunch anti-communist, was President of Nicaragua. Both pursued strongly anti-communist, pro-Western (and especially pro-U.S.) foreign policies.

I know that, and the communists finally took over in 1979, no thanks to Carter. However, prior to that, the government was extremely anti-communist, and wouldn't even allow embassies of communist countries in Nicaragua.

Question: if I pick Portugal, do I also get Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, East Timor, Macau, etc.?

Yes you get all colonies the nation had in 1961...but not for long as the US ruled self-determination
