That Which Had Been Forgotten
A Detailed History of the Kaduna

The Dark Years

And so it was that man evolved not from the Ape but from the Wolf, and these men did live and grow, and they did take the world as their own, they lived amongst nature, at times it’s ally and at times it’s enemy, these men did divide themselves under those who believed different to each-other these groups evolved into nations and the smallest of these were the then Wermen (Ver-men) soon to be the Kaduna (Kay-Dun-a), these people had struggled to reach a small island to the very north of the planet, and it was there that they flourished, the nation kept to itself and others did not find them for many years.

First Record

It wasn’t until much later that these people were discovered, the nation to the west Miton (My-ton) found these people and as they called it “cultured” them, they meant to say that they took the Wermen, seeing how powerful they were, and they forced into labour, all over the Miton empire camps where the Wermen lived in squalor, it was in these camps that a Werman was born, his name was Kadun and the people instantly respected him.

The Revolt

Kadun was immensely strong, all attempts to break him, including starvation, did not work, some said he was given by the gods, and others that he was god, the Miton feared this man and so had him incarcerated, and put to death, here is were the records show that Kadun was put under the axe and walked free, the blade of the Sword supposedly bouncing off, well Kadun made good his escape and mustered a large group of Wermen, they marched with crude Axes and made good their attack on the Miton town of Issle.

The Battle

Well now that the Wermen had themselves a town they began to forge the Axe with which they were incredibly proficient, they knew an army would arrive soon and so time was of the essence, the Militia of the Wermen marched out to defend Issle from an army twice their size, they fought themselves surely doomed.

But the Gods shone true on that day, for the battle was long and hard, and losses were large on both sides but the Wermen broke through and the Miton fled back to their castles and forts, the day was won and the militia rejoiced, they celebrated Kadun and announced him King, but the war was not over for it was not the Miton of whom the Kadun should have feared.

The Esterweld Legions

Over the ocean on the large eastern landmass where warlords ruled, a plan was taking place that the entire of the lands known as Esterweld would use, they took their greedy hands and sent off their armies to fight the now weakened Miton, for they cared not about the Wermen and instead did wish to take the lands of Miton, and betray the lands of Wermen.

The War

The ships of the Esterweld legions landed on the Miton coastline, they took key ports and towns, they killed all including women and children, and soon they had reached the town known as Issle, the Esterweld King met Kadun and they did sign a pact, the war had begun and it would be brutal.

The Battle of Furs

The Wermen were known by the Miton as the Furs, simply due to the extensive amounts of fur on their bodies and this is why this battle was dubbed the battle of Furs, King Kadun marched his army into the large Slave town of Dergh, he had with him over 6,000 soldiers, of course he had lost many to the battle of Issle, the Town of Dergh had just 3,500 soldiers, but they would fight rather than be consumed by slaves, they hid behind the town walls and mocked the slaves who could do nothing but watch, on the third night of the siege the gods launched a terrible storm on the town, buildings were demolished and people killed, for some grate fortune none of the Wermen were harmed, the Miton however decided to surrender they had seen the destruction caused by the Wermen gods.

The 16th Battle of Esterweld

The Esterweld kept numerical records of all the battles in a campaign, this was the 16th and so was dubbed as such, on this occasion a group of 1,500 Wermen fought alongside the Esterweld, this battle happened to take place along a road which the army was travelling at the time, a surprise army of Miton soldiers took out a large chunk of the Esterweld and Wermen army, the battle was bloody, the Esterweld’s tactics were spontaneous and shoddy, after a short while of putting up with poor tactics, a Werman took control of the situation and the battlefield evened out, the surprise tactics of the Werman general meant that the battle took three days of fully fledged fighting before the enemy eventually surrendered.

The Final Battle

It had come to this, the combined armies of Esterweld and Wermen numbering 600,000 an army no-one could withstand, but the Miton knew what was to happen, in the ranks of the Wermen trouble was stirring, men were falling ill and others were dying, Kadun was shocked, what was happening to his soldiers, it then dawned on him, Esterweld! He marched over to the Esterweld King and placed his axe blade to the Kings neck, the Esterweld soldiers formed up around him, the conversation between Kadun and the king was not recorded, but it ended with a sword being sliced through Kadun’s heart, he was left for dead and the Esterweld, who had signed a pact with the weakened Miton took the power from the Miton King, with the army of Wermen now gone nothing could stop the Esterweld.

The Prophecy

General Krowadan ran to his fallen King who uttered the words “Fight For Peace!” He Died in Krowadan’s arms, Krowadan stayed with his King for an hour before leaving, he headed to the town of Ightom were the Wermen reserve army had been staying, he arrived to find that the town had been taken by the Esterweld, he crept in at night and was taken in by an old Wermen woman, it was there that Krowadan was told of the Priesthood, the conversation was written in the tome “Krowadan the hero!” It was recorded as such “young General, I have had dreams of you for many years.” Our hero was taken aback he looked at the old lady and responded calmly “what are these dreams?” The Old Lady took her time in responding but soon she told him “I dream of a Priesthood that will free our nation forever, but there will be dire consequences!” Our hero gulped he now had a lump in his throat “what else do these dreams tell you?” Our hero asked “they tell me that you will bring about this Priesthood, you must ride out to the quarry at noon tomorrow, there you will address the people, you will tell them Kadun is dead.” Our hero could not believe this; no one could have known of Kadun’s death except himself “I will do it!” And so the history of Kaduna was sealed forever, the next day Krowadan told the people of Kadun’s death and those people mourned this loss, they wept for years and Krowadan waited for the liberation of his people, it did not come, he passed away peacefully in deepest darkest Esterweld.

Days under Slavery

Through the years that followed not much happened, the body of Kadun decomposed on the old battlefield, the people still mourned the loss of Kadun and daily life went on, it was not until very much later when the Esterweld became the Republic that things once more began to happen, Slavery was abolished leaving the Wermen to be free in the land once more, they set about trying to find Kadun’s resting place, inventions began to spring up over the Republic, Cars, Planes, Guns, Phones, it was hard to believe that just a few decades earlier the Wermen had been slaves, the body of Kadun was found under hill outside the city of Miton, it was transported to a tomb in the City itself, Wermen began to flock to this relic of ancient history, this began to sicken those who had spent their lives to track down their King, this tourism mocked all that was pure about Kadun, and so Zealots began to stop people from observing the tomb and soon they merged to become a group known as the Priesthood, they wore thick grey robes with hood’s that covered their eyes, this group was continuously dispersed by the Republic Grand Police, but the Priesthood would always return in larger numbers

The Priesthood

The time eventually came when the Priesthood rose up in numbers; a small group travelled to the Republic capitol and forced their way into the council chambers, they spent 3 hours locked in the room, when no word had been heard from them the Police stormed in, they found a bloody site, bodies skinned and blood thrown around the chambers, the culprits were never found, though these occurrences began to happen more and more, bodies of Council members were found skinned, most of them alive when it happened, pretty soon only the most brave became councillors and pretty soon the council became nothing more than a memory, now there was a King, elected by the people to rid the world of the Priesthood.

The 2nd King

The king did not stop the priesthood, instead he surrounded himself with Grand Police and let the world be rife with crime and the Priesthood, which had gotten more brutal in its attacks, they now had to face the roaming Gangs of the former Republic, the world was a mess and more were joining the Priests, though they had now got a new “street” name they were known as the Warrior Priests, they worshipped the Warrior gad Kadun and would kill anyone they found worshipping a false god, the King believed himself to be safe from the se lunatics but he was wrong, he came home from the one day to find his family strung up and skinned, they had all been killed first, he himself took his life by throwing himself from the tallest tower, the Republic now belonged to the Warrior Priests

Medieval Kaduna

In this time of despair technology seemed to ebb away guns were lost and cities crumbled, the nation was deemed Kaduna after the first King himself, the King now was that of Kordan who redesigned the military, it was a great achievement and the world rejoiced when the Warrior Priests went out in full using their large numbers to scare people into obeying Kordan, he used “magic” to keep the troops in line (he used the power of technology taken from the old Republic) but all was not well under Kordan’s banner, the old ways of Kadun were being forgotten, and it showed, a group began to grow in size they called themselves the Kaduna, but these were true warriors of the god Kadun, they were led by the great inventor Kendwin who designed and built the first energy axe, it was crude and the blade would occasionally short out, but it was suitable, the Warriors struck at the Kordan Appreciation day celebrations.
