[Project Information]
The Pzkmpf. XII Wolverine project began under the light of the three new campaigns undertaken by the Golden Throne's Werhmacht. The major impact was the warfare in Guadalombia which was specifically guerilla in style, and did not include the movement of large masses of bodies, but instead special operation teams. Consequently, it dawned on the OberKommando des Werhmacht [OKW, or Chief of General Staff] that a new tank was required for said operations. Ergo, the OKW went to Emperor Jonach I asking the administration to fund a team from the Kriegzimmer Conglomerate to design and build a tank light enough to drop in multiple numbers in rough terrain, but with the punch to engage another tank.

After a couple of months Kriegzimmer's Product Bureau showed Emperor Jonach the blueprints and description of a project codenamed Wolverine. Jonach immediately fell in love with the tank and ordered for a proto-type to be constructed. The proto-type has been everything that was expected of it, and consequently, the Heer has already ordered a full set of Wolverines to be constructed for the Waffen-SS, an exclusively foreign manned military - however, exact numbers have still not been released.

[Armor Considerations]
The Pzkmpf. XII Wolverine is protected by an exterior layer of Kontact-5 ERA, with a secondary layer of MEXAS. Their adds up to be eighteen millimeters of MEXAS armor, giving it an RHA value from 8mms to an extraordinary 2,500mms (for CEs, KE is considerably less), depending on the angle it’s installed at. The MEXAS is covered with a secondary layer of a stitched glass reinforced composite. The matrix resins used are orthophtalic polyester, isophthalic polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy, which are currently used on some Norwegian patrol craft. The hulls are laminated inside and outside with fibre reinforced plastic composed of glass fibre and carbon laminates bound with vinyl ester and polyester resin. A scrimp manufacturing process is used in construction, involving vacuum assisted resin injection. Carbon fibre and carbon loaded materials have been selected for the supporting structures, which need high tensile strength, for example the support structures for the gun and the electro-optical and radar weapon director.

Over these two layers of armor there is a polycarbonate glass layer designed to provide substantial stealth capabilities, especially in a heavily wooded area. The same idea has been incorporated in several Scandinavian ship designs, and it has been proven to work.

The Wolverine's glass reinforced secondary layer is not made up of a single brick, or in that case small bricks. Instead, special production plants, built of course for the SOV-06 and the SOV-06 alone, will manufacture this armor, now dubbed ‘GRA’, in sheets which can be applied to the Wolverine. Meaning, that if the GRA is one part of the Wolverine is damaged then the Wolverine wouldn’t have to go through an extensive operation to fix the damage. Instead, a team of mechanics could simply take off the sheet and re-apply a new sheet while the old sheet is ‘recycled’ back home.

Total armor values for kinetic energy weapons are rated at:

Front: 1,100mm
Side: 550mm [Side-skirts can increase side armor however]
Rear: 500mm
Top: 312mm

[Armament]
The primary armament on the Wolverine Light Tank is a sole 105mm ETC cannon, which gives it about the punch necessary to effectively stand up against heavier tank models. To make the turret turn quicker the turret and the chassis are divided in two by a central gyro circular sheet of composite metals, using McPhearson strut like bars, interwoven in springs (much like the shocks on your cars) and then smaller gyrating bars, to make the movement hydraulic, consequently, making it much faster. As do other Macabee tanks there are also small "R rings" inside the barrel which are springs measuring nanometers in size which reduce the recoil post-firing as well as muzzle flash. The cannon and turret can traverse through 360° and the elevation is from -45° to +60°.

The main gun also features an automated loader, although this does add to the eventual weight and complexity of the machine. Regardless, it was decided that an automated loader would be a much better option than a fourth crew member, especially when dealing with fatigue and compartment crampedness.

Secondary armaments include two 12.7mm heavy machine guns, each with a 180 degree field of view. Consequently, the two guns, both fired through lever action, one by the commander the other by the driver, defend two seperate field of views, in which way they provide full circle coverage for the tank.

There is also an automated 15mm topgun. Although it would be suspected that the 15mm gun would actually be a logistical nightmare, Kriegzimmer already provides 15mm DU rounds for its SOV-06 infantry fighting vehicle. However, export versions are fitted with another 12.7mm conventional machine gun.

[Fire and Control]
http://www.gdcanada.com/company_info/images/chart.jpg

The new fire and control system present on the Pz. XI, dubbed 'Brass', is the new top notch of said systems, developed by General Dynamics (Canada) and expanded upon by Macabee engineers. It includes Multi-Role Sensor Suite, Multi-Sensor Integration, Integrated Sensor/TA Suite, Virtual Immersive, Environment (AVTB)\, Neuroholographic ATD/R, Immersive Visualization. Moreover, the new system has both a low altitude RADAR and LIDAR system which has capabilities of tracking and giving firing solutions for up to twenty different targets at up to four thousand meters for the LIDAR and up to eleven thousand meters for the RADAR (although, of course, a gun doesn't necessarily have the power nor the type of shell to reach that far, and of course, that doesn't mean that the area between you and the enemy tank if full of large rocks that can disrupt your shell and its vector). The LIDAR uses a gaussian transmitter, which is right now the most advanced LIDAR transmitter developed by the United States. Of course, this fire and control system also uses thermal imaging, and of course, infra-red imaging.

The sighting and vision systems are fitted according to the customer country's mission requirements. The commander's station is fitted with an optional panoramic sight and six episcopes fitted with a switch for gun and episcope alignment. The gunner's station is equipped with a day and night sight.

[Other Systems]
FCLAS is comprised of a sensor and short range grenade launcher, loaded with special fragmentation grenades with delay fuses set to intercept the incoming threat at a range of approx. 5 meters from the protected vehicle. The actual initiation of the explosive charge is triggered by a side looking RF proximity fuse which senses the incoming projectile as it passes nearby. The explosion forms a vertical, doughnut shaped fragmentation effect that kills the passing threat but does not effect the protected vehicle. The system's target weight is 140 kg., to enable deployment on light vehicles. Each grenade is equipped with a forward looking radar mounted on the exposed tip of the grenade. Each of the FCLAS munitions has such an integrated radar, which forms a complete sensor, monitoring a protective hemisphere around and above the vehicle. The Army hopes to get a prototype system of FCLAS for testing in 2004 and an operational system, which could protect against RPG threats, deployed with Bradley, Stryker and Humvee

The Panzer XI also has a small CIWS system resembling a smaller Phalanx, however, using a seperate gaussian transmitter with a range of about two hundred meters to track incoming anti-tank guided and unguided missiles. The CIWS, or ACIWS, is automated and has a three hundred and sixty rotational view.

[Engine]
The Pzkmpf. XII Wolverine has a 1,400 horsepower diesel engine, giving it a maximum velocity of a theoritical ninety kilometers per hour on good road conditions, although actual combat operations would entail infinately smaller velocities.

It has a cruising range of five hundred and thirty-six kilometers, which exceeds the cruising range of the French LeClerc tank, currently the real life variation with the longest cruising range.

[Crew]
The Wolverine has a crew of three [3]. This includes the commander, driver and gunner.

OOC: Well done on the fluff, but a Main Battle Tank weighs around 70 tons, not 19.2, as you have put :P.

OOC- Looks great and all... But its a 68 ton light tank? Either you mis-labeled it [Although I doubt it since it obviously refers it to being a light tank in the description] or you went to the extreme of adding on enough weight to make it a lightly [comparatively] armed and armored main battle tank. For a light tank, try to keep it under 40 tons, but not if you want a true light tank [air-droppable], then you'll have to keep it well under 30 and that'd even require a special parachute rig [and you'd likely have to go for a slightly smaller main armament].

[OOC: Yea, I figured, but I took in mind that on top of a hydraulic auto-loader it has an ETC gun, as well as a machine-gun that expends depleted uranium, not conventional rounds. I might drop it to around forty-five tons, but I really don't think it could go under that.]
