[Note: The dimensions of the Vengeful (without the subs) are based on the Nimitz, a US carrier]

The Vengeful, a SD (self-defense)-Class Carrier is the first of its kind, the harbinger of a new generation of Aircraft Carriers. What separates this carrier from the rest is that it is capable of defending its self. Other carriers require entire fleets to escort them, to ensure their safety. This one however, can help itself, and greatly reduces the number of escorts needed. The way it does this is by using a new submarine, called the Thorn, (developed in Concador) to protect it. This submarine are small and can be launched from onboard the aircraft carrier. The thorn can be cast off the carrier, and sent to aid in its defense.

The Thorn is a one-man submarine, armed with 2 torpedoes each. The vengeful holds 20 subs (10 on each side of the ship). The subs are about 15 feet long and 3 feet high. A man lies horizontally in it. The Thorns are ‘launched’ by being dropped over the side of the boat. The top 8 inches of the submarine is filled with air, while the 2 torpedoes are attached to its bottom, allowing the Thorn to right its self, no matter what the position is that its hits the water. The air in the top is then pumped out. The torpedoes it holds are MK-48’s, used against subs and major surface ships. The subs are retrieved by cranes, which lower thick straps/ropes, which are looped, so the sub goes in the loop and is reeled in. It takes a100 seconds to reel a sub in, and 85 seconds to lower the straps again. There are three cranes on each side of the ship.
