Naval Department Announces FDI Contract
Today the Department of the Navy announced a shift in policy. Over the next two months the Navy will shift from a Battle Group oriented organization to a Fleet style concept. "This will add to our capability in the Pacific and Atlantic, as well as aid use in maintenance, upkeep, and repairs.", stated Rear Admiral Hienz. It was announced five fleets will be established around the world with regional basing to follow. The 1st Fleet will be headquartered in Stockholm and Norway, 2nd Fleet will be based in Fiji, 3rd Fleet will be based in Southern England, and 7th Fleet will be divided among Okinawa and Fiji respectively, and 8th Fleet will remain in Northern England. The Hawdawg Coast Guard will be separated into three fleets, each to cover a different land mass. 4th Fleet will be assigned to Sweden, 5th Fleet will be in Norway, and 6th Fleet will be in England. Inside sources say this plan has been on the minds of the top brass for sometime now, but with the recent war breaking out, they put off the reorganization until hostilities ended.
In related news, the Naval Procurement Department announced FDI has won a contract for a major retrofit of the Hawdawg Navy. All Nimitz and Nicholas Kerensky Class Carriers will be replaced by two FDI designs, and a phase out plan for older Ticonderoga Class cruisers, Spruance Destroyers, and Oliver Hazard Perry Frigates has been established. It is expected that many of the FDI surface combatants will replace many of the aging vessels in current service. Many of the ships needed to fill out the 1st Fleet mentioned above are currently on order with FDI. Time will tell if these vessels will play a prominent role in maritime safety for the Republic, but the Navy is genuinely excited about the purchase.

OOC: On a sidebar I currently have (10) Nimitz Class Carriers and (26) Illeana Vassili Class Carriers for sale any battle damage suffered was repaired in my drydock facilities and all ships come with a 90 day guarantee. When I take delivery on several of my new ships I purchased from FDI, I will be selling a whole bunch of Ticonderoga Cruisers, Spruance Destroyers, Oliver Perry Class Frigates, and Arleigh Burke AEIGS destroyers. I am revamping my navy and these vessels just don't fit anymore. I will only sell them to Earth II residents, others need not apply.
