OOC: Sorry, the picture was kinda rushed. Help me out here since I don't know much about land systems.

With more and more nations developing new tanks, the Nihon Rikujo needed something that could challenge the world's best tanks. However, with their insistence on a conventional gun design for its reliablity, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was faced with a tall order. The solution was innovation. Rather than out-gunning or out-armoring its competitiors, Mitsubishi chose to design a platform that was much more maneuverable than most other tanks.

The result was the Type-13 Armored Gun System. Its biggest advantage is its ability to be air dropped, something that ETC armed tanks can only dream of achieving. After all, what good is a 120mm ETC gun when it can't get to the battlefield in time?

Armament

The Type-13 AGS uses the a rifled 105mm gun, which is an improved version of the L7 gun used on the Type-74 Tank. It uses octagonal rifling and can fire APFSDS and HEAT rounds. The gun is highly reliable and can take a lot of abuse, which is why the Nihon Rikujo still uses conventional guns when ETC is available. A 7.62mm coaxial gun is used and another 12.7mm gun is mounted on the roof of the turret. Optionally, the LOSAT system can be mounted as well. An autoloader is used to keep crew and size down.

Armor

In order to keep weight down, armor had to be sacrificed. The hull is constructed out of lightweight aluminum. However, if required, modular armor can be added to augment the tanks defenses.

Propulsion

The Type-13 has a Mitsubishi 6SY31WA-kai diesel engine, which has been modified for greater fuel economy and reliability. It has 600hp and is liquid cooled.

Systems

The Type-13 uses laser and thermal guidance to aim its gun. It has a ruby laser range finder. The Type-13 also sports night-vision and a warning system that alarms the crew if the tank is being targeted by laser.

OOC:Very good design. But I think you should go into more detail in the different aspects. People like products that have more detail in them. Also I'm glad to see other people also choosing conventional guns over ETC. Me and Aequatio are currently producing one with a conventional gun too.

OOC:Actualy, that's a pretty good pic. I don't see anything wrong with the design, either. Good job.

EDIT: Wait, you forgot armor.

OOC: Hey I haven't seen you in quite some time. I'm glad you like the picture, although it doesn't meet my personal standards, nor is it as good as some of the other drawings that are on these boards.

The armor is modular, and it can be added on after the tank is on the ground.

OOC:Yeah, but you may want to add RHA values and such. You also forgot weight (the M-8 AGS is 20 tons, just to give you a good idea of another air-droppable AGS)

Ah I see, will do that now. I don't know much about RHA, so I'm counting on you to fix my mistake when I make it!

OOC:OK, you could probably get about 800mm vs. HEAT on the front, maybe 600mm vs. KE. The sides should be a little less than half that, and the rear just a fraction. You'd be OK making the top and rear armor roughly the same.

El Caudillo, once I get the kinks ironed out then I'll put it up for sale.

OOC:

From the M8 Buford page on GlobalSecurity:

The Army had planned to procure 26 low-rate initial production vehicles with 1996 funding of $142.8 million

$142,000,000 / 26 units = $5,461,538.46

The Buford was $5.4 Million per unit, based on those calculations.

Hope that clears it up.

OOC: Well thanks a lot for the help anyway.

Bobulande, these aren't tanks. They wouldn't stand a chance against modern tanks. They aren't meant for the same role as tanks.

Order confirmed. At current rates, we will be able to send fifty units per year, over a period of ten years. We thank the nation of El Caudillo for their order.
