Ok, for about 2 weeks now I have been compiling a list of features for a new ship. I have been ready to design it, but my shipyards are currently undergoing refit and I was so backordered that I couldnt possibly fit any new ships into my schedual until the 22nd. Now, that date has almost arrived, and so I am launching this thread to announce the creation of the Ripper class Strike Cruiser.

It is my most... interesting ship to date. Nearly every part of it's design was thought up by other authors of real life books (mainly The Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, and Ender's Game), and i simply edited their systems to fit into the NS world.

The ship will feature a new reactor design, extreme manuverability almost on par with starfighters, an incredibly fast TMD recharge rate, and all manner of other features that I cant talk about yet.

The ship is much smaller than any other ship I have yet to make, but it will still be around the same price as the Firebat battlecruiser because of all the advanced systems involved.

Look forward to the Ripper (the name may change) sometime in the comming weeks.

I'd really like to see how you acomplish that kind of maneuverability though. My little carrier technically could have that because of how the drive works, but I toned it down in the interest of fairness. Heh, can't wait to see it.

Thank you. I cant really say how it does what it does at this point in time, but belive me, it will ;). Also, according to the size scale I use (linkage (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=8697043#post8697043)) the Strike Cruiser is quite small and releativly lightly armed.

energy consuption, space requirments, it's a trade-off. my ships typically only have good acceleration in one dimension.
but do remember the third rule of military spacecraft design:
any ship utilising a reaction-based drive posesses a weapon whose effectiveness is directly proportional to the effiency of the drive.
