VANCOUVER (RFP)- Roman forces moved into the Yelmish state of British Columbia today in a peacekeeping effort aimed at bringing back order and stability to the now anarchic state. The Romans grew concerned when the Yelmish patrols of the Juan De Fuca Strait (shared between Yelm and Rome) suddenly stopped and endangered the operation of Roman trade routes to Roman-controlled Vancouver Island, so the order was made to dispatch peacekeepers, said General Marcus Maderius.
"We were concerned over the trade routes," he said, "so we were obligated to act. We cannot let a government fall into disarray so close to our own borders."
In addition to this, British Columbia will be thoroughly rebuilt and divided into two Provinces- the Province of Vancouver and the Kingdom of Canada, with the dividing line being the Rocky Mountains. Plans are also underway to build a Roman-style amphitheatre (which will be retrofitted with an ice rink for the local Canucks) in Vancouver to replace the ageing General Motors Place. Lucius Martius Rodemari and Gaius Cornelius Atrianus were installed as temporary Governors of Vancouver and Canada respectively, with elections scheduled to take place in the fall.
