In the wake of a successful diplomatic parley with the nation of Kyanges, we have recieved seven new colony ships.

Effective immediately, one colony ship, dubbed the Socialism Peak, will be sent to Mars to begin terraforming and colonization of the planet.

Five more colony ships, the Baikonur. the Engels, the Pushkin, the Chou Enlai, and the John Henry, will be sent to five other newly discovered worlds, as well.

About 3,000 persons per ship, half humans, half Abhuman POWs, will be sent with each ship to perform colonization.

Today, with great fanfare, the five ships have begun to fly towards their destinations. It is estimated that the ships will reach their destinations in about a few months, each escorted by an entire fleet of Mao Zedong class ships.

Today, word has come in from the Socialism Peak that terraforming efforts has begun on Mars, and it is expected that within six months, the planet will be made livable.

As for the others, the Baikonur has reached a habitable planet in Alpha Centauri, and has already begun to deploy its passengers. The Engels and the Chou Enlai have located two close, uninhabited planets 2 AU away from Earth; they are being terraformed now, with a six month finishing date for each. No word has come from the John Henry and the Pushkin, but signals indicate they are still safe.

OOC: Do the Martian nations read II? I know they'd be less then pleased with this, along with Valinon in Alpha Centauri.

Well, considering the nations I've mentioned have a history of going to war to protect their claims, I'd say it matters.

heh there may be 60 claims in Sol it is a crowded system no doubt about that. As for AC I only know of one nation with a legitimate claim and neither of you are him.

See, that's what makes the difference. If he's in a parallel universe as the Martian nations and Valinon, then no problem. But if he isn't, then there's a lot of potential for trouble.

The People's Will be praised! The John Henry and the Pushkin have located two new planets surrounding Tau Ceti, uninhabited, and ready for terraforming. The two ships have already begun terraforming work as we speak.

The Baikonur, meanwhile, has begun terraforming work, citing a report (http://apolyton.net/smac/Gameinfo/ency2.shtml) by its science team that the atmosphere and the water are not yet suitable for fullscale habitation.

OOC: That report is from Sid Meier's Aplha Centauri, yes, the planet to be colonized is inspired by SMAC. Of course, we won't have the colony ship split into seven warring factions.....

All Glory to the Soviets! The Socialism Peak has finished terraforming Mars, and has begun sending teams to the surface to begin building living areas and other essentials for the settlers, including farms, factories, and armories. The Engels and the Chou Enlai have reported similar progress as well. This is a huge step forward in the advancement of Socialism in the stars.

The Baikonur, John Henry and the Pushkin are reporting that they are halfway finished with making their recently discovered planets suitable for colonization. We expect great things to occur.....

All the while, naming these planets has become a subject of debate. Preliminary names for the new colonies are:

Socialism Peak- Mars SSR
Engels- New Magnitogorsk SSR
Chou Enlai- New Wuhan SSR
Baikonur- Luxembourgia SSR
John Henry- Tudehastan SSR
Pushkin- Minhastan SSR

Construction on the Martian, New Magnitogorsk and New Wuhan colonies are proceeding as quickly as possible, with habitation complexes having been finished, and industrial workshops (including munitions plants) being built as quickly as humanly possible. Also, further planting of trees and Earth livestock and animals has begun, to help facilitate further development of life and natural resources. All in all, development of infrastructure, including roads and resource extraction plants, has proceeded smoothly also, to provide the Workers and Peasants with the materials needed to make their own materials and food until resupply missions can come.

The terraforming operations on Luxembourgia, Minhastan, and Tudehastan SSR have been finished, and now, teams have been sent down to begin construction of living facilities and basic infrastructure.

On Mars, New Magnitogorsk, and New Wuhan, production of industrial plants and other advanced and basic infrastructure, as well as agricultural materials, is nearing completion, and food production is reported to be at a good pace.

A work team, meanwhile, has been sent to Mars to begin construction of the Karl Leibknecht Shipyard.

Luxembourgia, Minhastan, and Tudehastan SSR have finished basic infrastructure and living facilities, and construction of advanced infrastructure, such as agricultural materials and other things, has commenced.

Mars and the other developed colonies, meanwhile, have finished advanced infrastructure and agriculture. The colonies are reported to be stable, and Mars has been visited by the People's Acolytes, who intend to establish their academy there.

In the wake of the reunification of Earth, a national holiday has been declared. June 24th is to be National Unity Day.

The Karl Leibknecht Shipyard is complete, and production of civil, military, and other vessels has begun.

Probes sent out from the Luxembourgians, Minhastanis, and the Tudehastanis have indicated the presence of other bodies nearby, and with approval of the Politburo, these worlds have begun to send expeditions to these areas, to claim them in the name of Socialism.

New research teams are also being sent to mine gas from Jupiter, Neptune, and other gas giants in our Solar System for the good of Socialism, as well.
